*#9090# choice not saving? i9195 LTE from EE UK. - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok there's a short version to this and a long version, I'll start with the short version....
After a lot of tail chasing I've almost got the phone 100% back to how it should be, it seems that the only thing left to sort out is for me to be allowed to use USB instead of UART to reset my IMEI (got wiped out, "unknown"). Is there any reason why it wouldn't stick or a way to resolve it? The phone states "USB_Diag selected", "Change Complete", etc.... but when I click back it's still on UART. I've tried rebooting direct from that screen, coming out and rebooting, using the home button, etc, etc, etc. For whatever reason it just wont stick?
Long version......
I wanted to unlock the phone so that I could try out a payg sim that I was having issues with (only phone with a micro-slot). At first I tried to unlock it which didn't work, it suggested installing a prior baseband version of modem to get it to work so I tried that and it came up baseband unknown, imei unknown, etc, etc, etc. Fun fun fun. A bit of panic set in and I started installing anything I could find, I soon found myself with a "image resolution" boot error, which I believe was down to me trying to downgrade to 4.2.2 when 4.4 had already been installed. I eventually got myself back on an even keel but I'm still left with the IMEI unknown error. I'm trying to set it to the default using Samsung Tool Pro (24.3) but I keep getting an Access Violation (004074E0). I've disabled UAC just in case it wasn't fully running in administrators rights (which I had set it to do) and I've tried everything else I can think of. The one thing through browsing around that I can't get set properly is the 9090 menu to have USB instead of UART.
Info:
Model - GT-I9195
Version - 4.4.2
Baseband - I9195XXUCNJ5
IMEI - Unknown
Oh, one other thing that I recall. When selecting "Reset MSL" in the Samsung tools it said it completed successfully but my phone didn't reboot? I wasn't sure if that had anything to do with it. Secure boot status shows "Samsung"?
I have managed to force the IMEI using xposed but I would prefer not to go down that route if possible.
Thanks for any help

No Service Selected network (AT&T) unavailable! No Signal

I flashed in JB AOKP was working fine all of last night. I also entered my SIM Pin or unlock code. The first time I put in an 8 digit unlock code I have. Second time it prompted me I skipped it. I'm pretty sure it was the security pin and not the network unlock. I don't have any other phone's micro SIM I can insert into my phone and a local phone store's T Mobile SIM produced no different of a result except for replacing AT&T with T-Mobile (I have not however put my microSIM into another phone...because I don't have another micro sim phone). Reboot phone this morning and it's no longer working. Tried to enable 2g. Nothing. Tried a battery pull with the phone on, pulling the SIM (same message with SIM pulled out),
Wifi works
This sucks big time ;(
Note: I am pretty sure I did not network lock the phone or anything because the SIM prompt that came up when I flashed JB did not ask me for my unlock or network code (I would have known). The first time I entered that code was 'just in case it's asking me to unlock" but why would it ask me a second time then? So I doubt it was prompting me for a network unlock code. The prompt from youtube videos was different too.
Also APN is empty, but I think that's becasue I'm not connected to any network
Pressing Available networks brings up AT&T AT&T AT&T T-Mobile T-Mobile "311660" pressing any of them you get a quick window connect "too fast" goes back to/stays in available networks screen and says "Can't connect to this network right now. Try again later."
So I added the AOKP and Corresponding kernel yesterday and I mean it was working fine with 4g... apparently this thread says that you need to flash a new radio in some cases when you change kernels?

...what are you talking about. My IMEI isn't mentioned once in that post. In fact now that you mention it, since people's IMEI changed...nothing like that my phone still has its IMEI
I also did not get a "phone frozen" from entering the wrong code too many times...so I doubt its locked like that. There was a random reboot that I WOKE UP to, but nothing weird...it rebooted randomly but worked finely after that

I was proposing the theory that you may have lost your IMEI, since the symptoms you report were very similar to what I was experiencing when I lost mine, however since you still have yours, must be something else, eh?

Well, mine was definitely due to a lost imei that happened sometime when flashing.
I did get the network unlock warning thingy twice, and then had no cellular connectivity, which is why I mentioned the lost imei. I restored my nandroid back to stock, then used the method here with a little driver tapdancing to reinject my imei, and that solved my issues, but sounds like you have something else going on.

If I flash back to stock and no longer have the stock kernel, what is the steps for flashing back then?
1. flash stock kernel
2 fix partitions
3. factory rest/cache/davlik
reboot into oden and flash new image?
Long story short, Don't cut your own microsd..the sim pins on this phone are VERY sensitive and hard to fix/see. Don't bend em.
I am having the same problems right now, I keep on getting " NO SERVICE" - SELECTED NETWORK UNAVAILABLE" Error.
Rebooting doesnt help, flashing modem through CWM doesnt help. I know for a fact that the simcard it good because other apps that I install can read the sim with no problem, and my WIFI is working like a charm.
Someone got a solution for this? This is already like 4 days ongoing, please any help will be appreciated !!
Im having the same no service selected network issue. I can search and find att and the mobile but when I try to have it connect to att that's the error I get. I have an att SIM card in the phone. Sph l720 SIM unlocked, it didn't ask me for an unlock code or anything like that but I also don't get the invalid SIM card error. I've added the main apn from the att website but that doesn't help and the phone is current set to gsm/umts. If anyone has a fix please let me know, thank you.

[Q] Initially lost signal, ended up with unrecoverable boot loop

Hey guys,
This thread stems from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39594591&postcount=18
I'm gonna spare you the trouble of having to read that thread by summing it up for you:
- T-889V, running Jedi x12, had to pop out the sim to try it on another phone.
- Once popped back in, my phone lost all carrier connectivity. At first the signal icon looked like a "forbidden" sign. Then, after a little while, I get service bars, but no connectivity indicator.
- IMEI used to show up, but I still didn't get connected. Used my sim in a different phone as well as a different sim in my phone to rule those 2 out. As expected a different sim in mine didn't work.
- I go back to stock using mobile odin. My IMEI is now unknown, obviously I can't connect to anything and on top of that the phone reboots every 1 minute or so.
- I flashed some other rom I had lying around. My IMEI is back, bootlooping stopped, however I was still unable to get any service.
- Try a different version of stock with mobile odin the and I'm boot looping. This time I can't get into recovery at all.
- Finally I try desktop odin with a couple of different stock images, and I'm still bootlooping (reboots right after the Samsung logo). Recovery works fine.
I would send it back but I'm worried about my flash counter being 1, and my system status being "custom". I am completely stumped. Absolutely any ideas are appreciated.
Sometimes after flashing stock you have to wipe data factory reset to get it to boot. Just a thought.
Thanks for the idea. I have tried that
Have you tried flashing back whatever modem came with that Jedi ROM, along with either the stock T889V or an N7105 ROM?
Still getting bootloops?
In other words, get to a no service and no bootloop situation, and look into restoring NV items with the appropriate Qualcomm compatible programs.

But do you think it's possible to escape the constant bootloop? Right now I'm a little worried about flashing anything that will increase the counter, as I don't know if I'll get to run triangleaway ever again...
By qualcomm compatible programs you mean those 2 little tools that let you extract/write an IMEI as well as generate it as a text file?
The solution should be the same as the one I used for fixing my phone: using NV reader writer to rewrite correct stock settings along with your IMEI.
Warranty centres don't care about your exact counter, only if it's 0 or not, so flash away until you fix this. My counter was well over 30 when I finally did.

[Q] (Ace II x) Issues with cellular networks and connecting to them

So stupid me was fooling around in the *#197328604# menu and I accidentally screwed up my IMEI number (whoops my bad. not going in there again). After watching a YouTube video (Found via Googling), I managed to restore it (It now once again matches the IMEI on the bottom of the phone's box). However, I still have no cell service.
1. When I have the phone on the lock screen, it says "Emergency Calls Only". From time to time it may also say "Invalid SIM" or something along those lines.
2. When I look for mobile services (Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks), it pops up an error, "Insert SIM card to access network services", even though the SIM card is inserted.
3. Sending a text message fails. It just says it will wait with it until a network is available.
4. Placing phone calls fail. "Not registered on network"
5. The phone can read the SIM though. Going to the Contacts, and going to Import/Export has the SIM card options, and nothing goes wrong when selecting them.
Where can I go from here? I've cleared the Dalvik Cache to no avail as well. It almost works, so I think it's software related, or perhaps my SIM is malfunctioning, but I want to exhaust every possibility before going back and saying "my phone is acting wonky".
Have you tried a factory reset? If that fails, you might need to reflash the ROM.

Yeah. Resetting it failed. I can't get past the setup. After skipping WiFi setup, I just get a black screen and nothing shows. I may have to do a stock reflash. If that too fails, I may see if I can bring it in.
Edit: Stock reflash failed to fix it as well. Gonna bring it back and get it replaced.
Edit 2: Got a replacement SIM, didn't fix the problem. Seems it's hardware based (or software). Is it possible to remove all traces of a root before sending it in to make it appear unmodified?

It's not *#197328604#, it should be *#197328640#
been there lol

I've recovered from doing the exact same thing. It will take a lot of trial and error. What network are you on?

"Limited Service" error after improper reset? (MetroPCS version)

So a friend has an unlocked PCS 530 which was rooted and equipped with TWRP. She let a family member borrow it, warned him not to reset it through the Backup & Reset menu just in case something weird would happen. So, of cours,e the first thing that person did was factory reset it through the Backup & Reset menu and, of course, something weird happened. The phone had been unlocked via the MetroPCS Device Unlock app, but it seemed to re-lock after the reset and attempting to run the program again just resulted in a force-close crash. Worse still, the phone now gets no signal and gives only a "Limited Service" error.
I messed with several things to try to coax it back to normalcy and got nowhere, so tonight I decided to just find the proper RUU and go from there. (For completeness' sake, specifically it was RUU_A16_UL_M60_DESIRE_SENSE70GP_TMUS_MetroPCS_US_1.36.1550.14.exe, which seemed to be the same version firmware as what the phone had already been running.) The process completes without error... but not really, because it still doesn't work. It did *something," because the Device Unlock app now finishes, (seemingly) and if you have a Metro or TMo SIM in, you can even run a Search Networks scan that seems correct and says it connected successfully... but the signal level remains zilch.
In fact, it seems like in addition to the general connection problem, that the device unlock isn't *really* working for some reason. No error comes up when an off-network SIM is inserted, but I noticed that for one, the APNs do not generate the way I expect them to on a properly unlocked device - not even T-Mobile will autofill, just Metro. This *could* be normal on this device, but I don't think it is... and regarding the "Search Networks" scan, there's a reason I said "if you have a Metro or TMo SIM" earlier. The option is greyed out entirely when any other SIM is inserted. Hmm.
So what the hell is this, any ideas?

Samsung S9 Live demo security check fail modem issue

Well I beat the retail demo software, but didnt like even after a official update on the phone itself it kept me at android 8.0 os
so i went ahead and wanted to install android 10 rom off sammobile. It went through without a hitch in odin..but then got the dreaded "security check fail modem" in red text and this phone has been locked and unauthorized software has been installed on this phone with the blue screen background.
Any ideas on what rom I could use to install on this to beat this modem check issue? I tried 3 different roms and all the same message, they all load via Odin fine and PASS green box, then reboots and same message.
Supposedely I found a original stock rom for the demo model but its some 1 file-combination file. Still searching to see what else I can find.
Let me know if theres a workaround for the red text modem issue.
EDIT: just to make clear, i only want to use wifi on this device for apps, I realize it cannot be used to make calls or being used on cellular network, thats fine with me.
