Previously i've made a post about how i can't unroot my LG G3 and that I can't leave Download mode/ Firmware update.
So when i got my LG G3 i tried to updated it from KitKat to Lollipop and then to Marshmellow but i couldn't, i have tried many methods so i did some research and came across that u "can't update a rooted phone" so this is what made me think that my phone is rooted.
So is my phone really rooted?

If you have any apps like "SuperSU" "KingRoot" then it might be Rooted.(Try installing from Play Store "Root checker")
And i don't really think that you have your phone rooted.
Many Phone Owners (From different manufacturers)don't get updated via OTA.
So they manually update OR wait.
And rooted phones get OTA updates. But if you update you lose your Root access. (That's how i understood that you don't have Root)
Hopefully you understood.
Greetings.

Great!!! There just one slight problem, like i stated before i can't leave the Firmware update screen. Everytime i turn my phone on it just goes to the Firmware update screen and holding power button does nothing, taking the battery out turns the phone off but goes back to firmware update screen once it's turned on again.

Oops...I forgot that part...my bad.
Just to clarify - you can't take over the air updates if your phone is rooted with custom recovery, but you can still flash them manually.
If you're stuck in firmware update mode all I can suggest is booting into recovery manually(pull your battery & put it back in, press vol down & power at the same time, hold until the system recovery screen pops up - you variant may be slightly different than my vs985 so google lg g3 how to enter recovery manually if my method doesn't work for you) and doing a factory reset and cache clear from there and see if it boots. Otherwise you'll need to start fresh and tot/kdz flash your way to up to date.
Google search how to tot/kdz flash your variant. If it's vs985 I can help a little, otherwise head on over to your variants general XDA section and there should be a tutorial on flashing stock firmware up for you. Going back to stock may sound painful, but as long as you have the right files for the flash tool and drivers for your PC it should go pretty smoothly.
*I believe some marshmallow ROMs did come with some sort of anti-rollback software, but since you were on kit kat and trying to upgrade(not downgrade) it shouldn't be a concern for you. You may want to be careful and read, read, read before you flash so you can avoid any troubles before you upgrade though.

Going into the Recovery Mode does nothing it just goes back to the Firmware screen after showing "recovery mode".
Doing a Factory Reset is the 1st thing i tried; i have a D855 (made in Korea, but there isn't a Korean D855 so i don't think it's Korean it was just made there i guess) and when i tried to download the tot files there were different D855 versions like European, Hong Kong and TWN but I only knew my was D855 and didn't see anything about being it a European or Hong Kong version so i have tried them all and none of them worked, it just failed at 6%. I used the tot and dll files, idk how the kdz one works since the flash tool requires tot. and dll. files

If you want to try the kdz method here is a link(it has firmware links and driver links included)... https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
And sometimes it's a good idea to uninstall any phone drivers on your PC, reboot, and re-install just the LGE drivers; flash tools can be finicky sometimes.

I have tried 3 different Cables and 3 Ports all give the same result, but I think the problem is with my LG drivers, after i installed lg drivers i get this
http://imgur.com/wYlAnWl
So i think i have LG drivers installed but somehow it doesn't show on my ports, which means they're not installed correctly? I think this because long time ago i used to have the same drivers on this pc and it showed them in the ports section.
I uninstalled the drivers and restarted my pc and reinstalled them and after it said "installation was successful" they still didn't show in the ports section.
I also have tried installing different version of lg drivers.
What is it i'm missing?

Are you using windows 10?
That should be the problem.(Many people have problems with lguptool in windows 10.)
The only thing that you can do is to downgrade your Windows to 7.Or go to a "internet cafe" (as they always have Windows 7 installed).
(That's also a reason i stay with Windows 7 Ultimate )

"ports" section in device manager. Also, when i connect my phone to the pc it says "usb device not recognized" is it because it's in download mode/firmware update screen. And finally i can't run lgflash 2014 in admin promt in an internet cafe.
I might just give up and save up for a new phone...

I don't have the links to the tread where I got these from but lets just hope I don't get banned.
1) go to download mode
2) install this and download the correct .kdz file for your phone
-Modelnumber is ...
-serial number is your imei number
- wait until the download is done
3) run the lgflashtool2014.exe from this zip
-Select type= cdma
-phone mode= Diag
-reset time=33000
-Should be like this when You run it
-select kdz file= is where you need to find the kdz file you just downloaded(step 1)
-then press cse flash
-in the now pop-up window select start
-select your language
-ignore error (cannot connect to lg server)
-check progress on phone up to 100% then boots in recovery installs and restarts
-wait untill it goes to the welcom screen then you can unplug
-now the most inportant step Like my post
to enter download mode do this:
--You must switch off the device to start the process.
--Then press and hold the “Volume Up” and connect the USB cable from phone to PC.
--Use the original USB cable. Because, other device’s cable may not be detected in the Computer. So, only we recommend it to use the original-- one that you got it when you bought the phone.
--Wait for the driver installation on PC.
--Then you will get the download mode screen in your phone.
--That’s it.
I have the opposite problem, can't get into download mode haha

I can't find the .kdz file. I have the D85010d.
Also, i ran the original lg firmware, I also get an error saying it was unsuccessful or i may have keyed in something incorrect.
When I run perform the TOT method, I get the "device model is different".
So, d85010d was stock and I flashed sphinx d855... where they incompatible? im assuming no because the phone ran fine aside from the issue i stated on the original post.

I was in your position. Once you enter the download mode it is *almost* impossible to get out without removing the battery. I've heard a lot of suggestions like pressing the power button for 10 or 20 seconds or even doing that in combination with other keys, BUT the ultimate truth is that you have to press and keep holding power button for at least 1 minute. I didn't time exact seconds, but it was ridiculously long time. Probably it will take you less time removing the back and re-sit the battery, but personally I hate removing the back without serious reason
About the second question - I was unable to flash anything in LG's download mode. I'm using Ubuntu + virtualbox (Windows 7 inside), but due to issues with drivers and/or virtualbox and/or usb port forwarding I was unable to reliably connect and flash the stock kdz image. Fortunately I've sent the phone back to the LG repair office and they re-flashed the firmware for me.

It is not exactly what you want, BUT at least you can get your latest, official KDZ file from LG.
Open in browser the following URL, but replace the xxxxxxxxx
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=xxxxxxxx
where xxxxxxxx is your IMEI number
As a result you'll get an XML file that will contain the location of your latest KDZ update, which should look something like this:
http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=.../D85510L_00.kdz

Hi guys, i know it's an old post but i get the same issue.
I was following this tutorial https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1058206-lg-g3-lineageos-tutorial/
I was on lollipop.
I initially downgraded to kitkat (V10e) using LG UP and then rooted with purple drake.
In the following reboots, "kernel error" occurred.
So I tried to flash the kitkat stock version again but without success.
I'm stuck in download mode and tried to flash both the kitkat version, the lollipop and the marshmallow, through .tot and .kdz, I tried both with LG UP, LG Flash tools v 1.8 and with LG flash Tools 2014 but in all cases unsuccessful because the phone reboots before it ends.
Now I don't know what to try anymore. Do you have any solution, please?
Thanks in advance.
Hi
I have a t-mobile D851 LG G3, for which i was trying to restore to STOCK software, through one of the guides elsewhere on the forum. My first try FAILED, and now the phone is stuck on the "FIRMWARE UPDATE - Do not unplug the USB connection until the process is finished - USER B51" screen
No matter what i do (all key combinations for recovery mode, download mode), plugging, unplugging the phone, taking the battery out for 30 mins or so, and putting it back - NOTHING is working. It all goes back to the screen mentioned above.
I tried running the LG Flash tool again, but it fails.
Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This phone is my daily driver, and I am in a major fix without it.
link for the guide I used to flash

EDIT - SOLVED
Thanks to everyone who chipped but especially to pside15 and one other person (but i can't find his post)
The solution was very simple - I was making the idiotic mistake of looking at just the computer screen and NOT the phone screen. The computer kept giving me all sorts of errors saying 'update failed - can't connect to server, yada yada' etc. I just left the phone alone - came back 10 mins later to working phone.
Moral of the story - Watch BOTH the phone screen and the computer while doing these things, because my computer had me believe that this is not gonna work - the phone obviously disagreed
When the flashtool fails, whats the error? Its not hardbricked if it still comes on and goes into download mode. Look at THIS image and see if you set action mode the same. This one mistake caused me a headache last night for 6 hours.
Your link doesn't work.

Im not 100% sure, because I have the Sprint LS990. As far as the model # goes, it has to be the exact one, which should be under your battery. I'll look into it more in a few hours when I get off work. Try HERE for tots and dlls

FIXED IT!
Thanks to everyone who chipped but especially to pside15
The solution was very simple - I was making the idiotic mistake of looking at just the computer screen and NOT the phone screen. The computer kept giving me all sorts of errors saying 'update failed - can't connect to server, yada yada' etc. I just left the phone alone - came back 10 mins later to working phone.
Moral of the story - Watch BOTH the phone screen and the computer while doing these things, because my computer had me believe that this is not gonna work - the phone obviously disagreed

LG G3 D855 - Firmware upgrade
Hi,
I am in the same situation here. I have used the following tutorial and successfully flashed the firmware
I am not allowed to add the link yet.. Sorry
Type the following on YouTube
How to Unroot/Unbrick LG G3!
My Phone was up and running and I forgot to close the LG Flash tool on my PC. The flash tool started to flash my phone again, at about 80%, when the tool restart the phone , it never came back and since then I am sitting at the firmware upgrade screen.
I can see a yellow mark in device manager under Portable device.... I can see under port LG Mobile Serial port which i set it to 41. I read about something called wipe cache partition. I have used few different PC but it is not downloading the firmware at all.......... Please help!!!!!!! Can I use Linux ADB to flash the firmware .... Any tutorial ......
Unlocked bootloader ,all OK. (via official LG unlock.bin )
Installed TWRP, all OK. Installed STOCK-20a-ROOTED.zip for the LG G4, by cile381 all OK-- but no ROOT.
So I tried STOCK-20a-ROOTED.zip again but this time went with the SU option, and bootloop, loop, loop------------
I did a backup with TWRP before any of this happened ,BUT even though backup is present -- something is read only, I presume it's the system disk.
Would like a bit of help as phone is spanking new and has never left the house or even had my SIM card in it.
Phone get the red swipe over and then the LG Logo comes on and stays looping at that point.
tnx and hope it's not good night

Try to get into download mode. If you don't know how just check this thread. Once done use LGUP to flash the 6.0 kdz (if you want a stock 6.0 ROM), or flash 5.1 KDZ for your device and restore root and TWRP. LGUP thread is located here. Just follow the instructions.
Please keep in mind that there's a way to get out of bootloops 99% of the time (In fact 100% if it's a software problem). Furthermore, if you'd like to have a rooted 6.0 ROM, refurbish to 5.1 and follow these instructions. Hit thanks if this helped

As I said. Just refurbish with LGUP to 5.1 (if you're not on 5.1 already) and then root it with this method, flash TWRP (You'll find a lot of threads how to do it) and then follow these instructions and you're on rooted 6.0
Please note that there's no official way to get xposed to H815, since the latest zip is leading to bootloops (If you're interested in further modding). Cheerio my friend Hit thanks if I was of help

- Android 6.0 Stock Rom with unlocked bootlader, root and twrp
- the bootloop is caused by a change in the build.prop
I already tryed the lg flashtool 2014, lg bridge(it said that there are no problems), lg up (unknown device), adb (no adb connection).
Is there a way to boot into twrp with the hardware keys?

Yes of course there is!
Power off your device (E.g. pull battery), wait until it's completely shut down, now
Hold power button AND Volume Down button
Hold these two buttons until you see the LG logo on your screen
If the logo appears, immediately release ONLY the power button for 1 sec (you're still holding the Volume down button)
Now press and hold power button again (still holding volume down button)
If it now asks you to wipe your system, click "yes" and "yes" and tada...you're in TWRP

Ok. I suggest you re-install LG Flash Tool, re-install drivers and make sure you're using a proper USB-cable. Try it again and then let me know.
Additionally, did you try a CSE flash? I don't know what's the problem, but it actually should recognize your phone, if it's in download mode. Are you sure you're in dl mode?

I didn't find a solution to fix that within bootloop
---------- Post added at 06:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:56 PM ----------
Not necessary, in bootloop, just connect usb and start lgup, when it detect it, (and it will as unknown mode device) tap com port it was found on and ui will open, then click on phone info, it will connect and establish a valid usb connection to phone and open new prompt with phone info...... Then start adb command prompt and enter 'adb reboot recovery' and bingo you're in recovery.... Solves every bootloop!

I guess he means that you have to click on the USB Port on your PC, where LGUP detects your phone. There are several things you can do, if LGUP doesn't detect your phone. Just look through this thread. There has to be a solution to this!!

I didn't had the same issue as you, but had a similiar one (phone didn't get discovered neither by LGUP nor LG Flash Tool). Yesterday I fixed it by following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
In particular the part where you change your device to COM41 in the device manager.
After you get it discovered by LG Flash Tool flash an official KDZ.
Reboot the phone and connect it to your Windows, allow the connection from the phone screen.
It should promt you to install drivers on the computer, do that (they are different from LG Drivers you download from the web mind you)
Now you can change your COM port back to 3 and everything should be fully discoverable by both LGUP and LG Flash Tool.
I think I replied to you on reddit (same photo) Have you tried plugging the phone in while in download mode ? Did you try installing drivers from the internet ? Coz thats how I fixed the same problem you have.

Exactly, here I am running around in circles over this BOOST Stylo 2, just got it with MM 6.0.1 out of the box 2 days ago. I caught the 454.4mb update it has been trying to do! Got that baby downloaded! 1.02gb unzipped and renamed to kdz. Got a script for Terminal that will replace Kingroot's temp root with SuperSU but I am not going to attempt any further until I know LGUP will recognize and flash my .zip the bas****s deem not worth enough to put up for download on LG's site!
I got LGUP to recognize it in download mode, reads out LGLS775 but still says it cannot open it...............
His info on how he got it to work would prolly have solved this dillema..............
oh well
zach
ok had a LG G3 that's done this- as long as you can get download mode it should recover, YOU need to use the LG mobile support tool from LG website ( LG UP sees phone as unknown model ) run LG mobile Support tool and in option choose UPGRADE RECOVERY . follow instructions and allow to start process, it took 57 minutes to repair my phone - it will seem frozen anywhere from 0% to about 22% JUST WAIT IT OUT!! lg up / twrp flashes in 5 to 10 mins -- the LG m.s.t writes block by block and takes 1 hour +
so hints and info took 3 goes to find and start upgrade recovery - error on a couple of attempts. phone seems frozen around 10% and 15% of firmware upload -- go make a coffee drink it, go pee then come back and worry! A watched pot never boils!....

It didn't. It's EVEN MORE broken :'(
I figured out how to get my PC to recognize my D851. Apparently all the LG software didn't like how many COM ports I have. As soon as I unplugged everything else from my PC, the software worked. In this case, it was LG Flash Tool 2014, but I couldn't get any of them to work before.
Try running LGUP as Admin!!! For me it worked!

Hope someone can help me. I flashed a rom for a d855, d855g30 I think, and although I can access download mode all aps for flashing fail saying it's the wrong model number. Even the generic DLL file cant trick it. It still starts booting the rom but boot loops before entering. I no longer have twrp and when I try to do safe mode or factory reset I get a boot validation error or something similar. Just seem to be stuck. Im using a VS985.
One cause of LGUP "UNKNOWN"
While an old thread, it'll be found in searches. For anybody who gets "UNKNOWN" device with LGUP for the LG G3, I found that LGUP for the G3 is often distributed with the wrong DLL file. See the details here, post #11. After installing LGUP, make sure that the "model" subdirectory in the LGUP program directory is the same number as the processor in your phone, in my case c:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\8974 (was 8994 with the "LGUP for G3" I downloaded).

Hello there pals, I have a problem, I have an Lg H815P (Mexico Version), and i was using it normally for about 15 days, then suddenly the home screen freezed, and then the phone restarted, i thougt it was just a lagging issue, but then, when the phone booted up again, after like 5 secs it freezed up again and restart, a infinte loop, then i said, this Rom must be corrupted (Stock TELCEL Rom v20b Android MM), and decided to do a hardware keys factory reset, then the phone restarted but when it was android upgrading apps, it kept restarting, at last it booted up but the problem persist. So im kinda worried, how a problem cant be fixed at a full hard reset? When im trying to flash a KDZ file From lg flash tool, the program fails because cant find phone, a kinda weird thing because the adb detects it sometimes, others not, i booted the phone in safe mode and the problem persist anyway, what can I do? I already have the drivers, the lg up, and the lg bridge apps, they all said that im running the last software for my mobile device, i´ve tried another battery as well, so im kinda lost, another thing, after the hard reset, the phone was able to stay on like 15 mins, sometimes 5, sometimes just secs, dunno what is happening but i really need some ideas, can you help me to work this out?
Greetings pals!

I have had this problem occur because of the launcher. Try cleaning the cache and data and see whether an updated version is available. You could also try a 3rd party one and see if that helps or simply re-install the LG launcher.
If no luck, you could try flashing another kdz with LGUP-NEW: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803
There are a couple of TCL kdz's listed on this site: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h815p-firmwares/
Scroll sown to LG H815P Firmware List.
Back up everything first.

If the phone is still recognized on your PC, see if you can get into download mode. If you can, try re-installing the KDZ from there. Make double sure it is the same kdz that was installed on your phone when it worked.
The other option is to see if you can get into recovery mode and try a factory reset.
It is possible that the freezing you were experiencing before when it booted up was, as raptordd suggested above in post #4, an early sign of the hardware bootloop issue that has now manifested fully. The only real option then is to send it in to LG for repair and tell them your phone, you believe, has developed the hardware bootloop issue. Even if out of official warranty, they should replace the motherboard in that case, at no cost to you.

Now that u mention that, the phone was recognized by pc, but i installed a lot of kdzs, and none of them made the phone boot, every one of them were for h815p v20a, the one that was installed, but now i connect it to pc and then says download mode but doesnt enter and then the lg logo appears again, even the charge is meesed up now, i think i screwed the download mode and the charge mode, is that possible? but i tried the factory reset when i had the working firmware but the problem persists. Now im thinkin my only option is to use a octoplus box to revive it, but dunno if that will fix the restart problem, about that warranty stuff, i can send it to lg mexico and they should change my motherboard for free? That sound too good to be true.

See if you can enter recovery using the hardware buttons and try executing it again.
LG has been replacing motherboards in a lot of cases where the issue is attributable to their own hardware issue (ILAPO). You don't really want to discuss the things you have done to get it working again with them ... if you get my drift, i.e., play dumb ...

Ok if none of the baove works, ill do that, but no, it has no recovery neither, not even stock, i read about a bootloader way to fix the download mode, im gonna try that but i doubt i can cuz bootloader is factory locked cuz is latin version.
No luck at all, phone is still bricked, is there any way to flash stuff via bootloader or abd without bootloader unlocked or root?
