The S Pen APK's can be found easily enough, the problem is the screen doesn't support the pen. You can find a replacement screen for the Note 8 on eBay and then install it on your Tab 3. Personally I would just buy a EVGA Note 7 and call it day, you can probably sell your Tab 3 8 for the 200 dollar asking price of the EVGA. Your then getting a much, much, much faster tablet as the EVGA has the new Tegra 4, comes with a active digitizer pen which you can than install the S Pen software, an HDMI out port, so you don't have to fork over an additional 50 for the Samsung MHL HDMI adaptor and it has better build quality, actually one of toughest tablets I have seen. Then there is the best part, it's the closest to having a Nexus device without, well, buying a Nexus device. Pure Android, just a 350mb system OS footprint vs. the 2GB plus laggy mess that is TouchWiz. The updates are also released as fast as a Google Nexus device as this is a NVIDIA reference design, so no more waiting 8 months like with a Samsung.
Check it out here http://www.evga.com/articles/00790/
This is just suggestion if you want a fast, inexpensive tablet with pen support. If you decide to go with the first option let me know, I could help locate the parts and even help with the install by providing detailed instructions. I have a friend who works in the Tablet/Phone repair department for Interdiscount.ch here in Switzerland. Since the Samsung's have more problems than any other tablet manufacture that they sell he might actually have the parts your looking for on hand, his words, In fact when I bought a Tab 3 10.1 he called me an idiot and told me for every 3 sold, 1 is returned. I now know what he meant as I returned mine after only a few days and got the Nexus 10, I heard the Tab 3 8's are much better though. I will contact him on your behalf if your interested. I like visiting his workshop anyway, he always lets me steal a part or two for my Frankenstein projects.
Few questions really about the Tab Pro. This will be my first tablet, I think I have convinced myself to finally get one. I am looking at this (Tab Pro) or the Tab S. The draw back for the S is that it has a Exynos Processor which I think will not get as much development as this has or will (due to the snapdragon processor). Is this a fair assessment? With that said, is my safer bet with the Tab Pro? I know it has been out longer but looking at the development here vs S is a big difference. This has more options and interest it seems. Specs wise and screen wise, articles seem to lean towards the Tab S but not by a whole lot. Price isn't to much of a worry but since the Pro is cheaper it helps.
For the Tab Pro, scrolling thought the development, it seems the 8.4" has more development for it? It seems the 8.4 (SM-320) has more threads going then the SM-520 (10"). With that said, it seems the two don't interact well with each other, you need specific roms and kernels for the model you have. Can someone clear this up for me, am I looking at this correctly?
Overall, it seems the Tab pro 8.4" would be the better choice? I have looked at the Nexus 7 but with no sd slot and specs, kinda killed it. I know the Nexus 9 is rumored but still no SD card slot and supposedly its going to be $300-400.
Thanks
The 10" Tab Pro also has Exynos from what I understand. I have a 10" note, and the processor is fine to run the tablet. I'm not sure what you are looking for in developer support, so I can't say if it is available in one model or not. The Tab S appears to be better supported by Samsung, as their new/most current device. If you really are looking at developer support as the #1 goal, then Nexus is the way to go. Might want to hold out for the new Nexus 9.
I will be buying an 8" tablet this fall for a gift. If I had to buy today, it would be a Tab Pro. That could easily change in the next month.
hi. im really interested in this tablet. i want the LTE version. untill now i thought there are two versions of this tablet
WIFI only with Exynos octacore chip
LTE+WIFI version with snapdragon 800 chip
pls check the full specifications.

Your observed overheating for sure has NOTHING to do with Exynos.

well, about the overheating of device with exynos, its true. i have even observed it on one of my friend's Note 3 exynos version. its really unacceptable for samsung not to fix this issue with their in house chip, considering huge R&D budget. so i have decided never to get exynos device at all!
i will get the snapdragon version if its available. if not, then i will get iPad Air or Air 2
can u link me to Snapdragon from newegg or amazon? i cant find.

thank u a lot bro but i didn't mean links here on xda.
i need link to NEWEGG OR AMAZON where they are selling the SNAPDRAGON 800 VERSION, from WHERE I CAN BUY!
Just go ahead and ask in these threads. Probably you can get Snapdragon version only by contract (I don't know, since I have Exynos version).
both come with exynos chip. wifi or the lte version. both. if you see the device code SM-T700 or SM-T705. it is exynos.
the only snapdragon version are for US Variant which i thin cant work on other place because we use a different band.

Well, my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (WiFi Only) is the only Exynos based device I have had, so I have no way to compare it to earlier versions. I can say that mine never over heats. Of course I have the book cover on it. But I've never noticed it being hot or even warm and it isn't showing any signs of instability.

i have never used any kind of cover for any of my phones or tablets. im of the idea that the devices are meant to be used the way they are. i like them naked
i know Exynos gets hot, cause this same chip is used in Pro series and i have used that for like 10 minutes of Asphalt and it DID get quite warm!
and im pretty sure, cause of such a high res display, this would too. mainly because where i live its quite hot. u know, its 25th november today and time right now is 11:30pm night, and guess whats the temperature here, its 25C!
in summer it get as high as 46C-49C. even air conditioning does not help some times!

^this, also lag is very limited in Touchwiz. thats the only reason i left samsung.
i personally like FLASHY and vibrant UI of samsung, but i HATE LAG!
i switched to LG . infact, i first got a monitor from LG and i was LITERALLY ASTONISHED by its panel! thats why i got LG G2! and i was REALLY AMAZED by their optimus UI and G2 UI and boy, G2 is a BATTERY CHAMP! i loved that device so much.
and there was NO lag at all! i mean NONE! even when LG's UI is almost same as TOUCHWIZ.
i guess, samsung puts some special ingredient touchwiz to make it lag like hell, on SNAPDRAGON 805 chip (NOTE 4)

yeah u are right. i have checked it thorougly and i have found that only 2 of US variants offer 800 one. one of them is Sprint. its the last alphabet that is different. like T705V and T705C also, T805V and T805C

Mine does not get hot. Also, Exynos is not the only SOC used in the pro series. The pro 8.4 uses a Snapdragon 800

Hey guys, a friend is offering to sell me his Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 for around 200$.
With a glass screen protector and few cases. He is saying the tablet was barely used and in a "new" condition.
I am looking for a light tablet for YouTube, some Web Browsing and maybe to show my Source Codes in interviews.
But I really like AOSP - it is really important for me to be able to install an AOSP rom. I see that there is a CM13 for this tablet, which is good.
My question is, this tablet is 2 years old already, is it worth buying in this price? Is there something better I can get new for around that price?

Well that about what they go for 'round theses here parts ~200.00€. (i.e. The T325 LTE)
So is it worth it? The Tab S is a few bucks (Checking Fleebay.de between 10~50€), more. And has seen better support from Samsung then our Tab Pro 10's & 8's
Which unlike the Tab Pro actually got Updates to Android 6 Marshmallow. It also features a Fingerprint Scanner that the Pro doesn't have.
Also the Tab Pro comes in 16/32GB Flavors, where as the Tab S comes with 32GB base, and 64GB variants.
So on that front I'd say the Tab S LTE (SM-T715) wins.
That said, The Tab Pro 8.4 LTE, (SM-T325) with its 2GB's of RAM IMHO is more than a capable Device. It can still handle most Games just fine.
And most (if any), of its problems can be traced back to the lack of Dev support of that variant. (i.e. T325 LTE), the T320 OTOH has a broader support base, and is officially supported by CyanogenMOD.
But, I wouldn't let that stop you, as the Dev supporting us has been terrific when it come to nightly builds.
But, I would interject One last thing here though, since you failed to mention it.
Is this Device in question the T320 (WI-FI), or the T325 (LTE) version)?
If its the LTE version then $200.00 for it, is ~ok~. If he's trying to flog off a T320 (Wi-Fi), however, then IMHO hes gipping you.
I wouldn't offer much more then a flat $100.00 for it, my self..
P.s. Odd that I should now check fleebay, and see that some others are actually asking for ~200.00€'s for their T320's...
Damed if I'd know what was so great about that variant, that I would dispose that much cash for one, when I could get the LTE version for the same or less.

Like I said I would pass... For that money there are better options.
Or try to see how far down hes willing to go.
Like I said no 3G / LTE Modems... I wouldn't really pay anything much more then a flat $100.00 for it.
Perhaps a $125.00 tops if he was a really god friend, and needed the money.
But, $200.00 is way too much for that Device. EOS

Like I said for that, theres either the LTE version of the T32x, or you could just look for a T710 (Tab S), Which I've detailed somewhat in my first post.
For $200 you might as well grab a Shield Tablet K1. The TabPRO should be under $150 to be worth looking at now.

Howdy, folks.
I'm in the market for a tablet, and not familiar with the Samsung lineup, so I could use some guidance here.
First, I'm not sure I understand the difference between the A and S series. I assume it's a CPU issue, and I seem to recall a Tab A that I played around with didn't have an accelerometer and/or GPS, which are both critical for me.
Then we get to the firmware. I need to run Xposed and Xprivacy. Obviously that means I'll need to be able to root the machine. Would I be correct in assuming that I'm stuck with getting an S2, or is it possible to downgrade an S3 so I can benefit from the better hardware specs?
My choices seem to be an S2 at $480 or an S3 at $550 except that the S3 ships with a pen and LP, if I'm not mistaken, which knocks me out of the box in terms of running Xprivacy unless I can downgrade the OS.
Anyway, your input here would be helpful, and any pointers on unlocking / rooting would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
I think since late 2014, the Samsung tablets were split into just two lines, the Tab S, the high-end line, and the Tab A, the low cost line. In my humble opinion, the Tab A line is utter crap and it hasn't been updated effectively since 2015. If you want a cheap low end tablet, you might as well just buy one of those sub-100 dollar Amazon Fire tablets. Their specs are in the neighborhood of those Tab A tablets, but Fire tablets are much cheaper. Quite sadly, I think Samsung's high end line Tab S has also lost its way. I mean, I certainly love the idea of a high end Android tablet, but not at 500-600USD, specially when it comes with outdated flagship SoC, like the Snapdragon 820.
I love my Tab S 10.5, but if I am forced to replace it tomorrow, I'll probably get the Huawei Mediapad M3. Its hardware specs are high end enough to check nearly every box, and it costs under 300USD.
Excellent suggestion. I was wondering about alternatives to Samsung.
How would you compare the M3 to the S3? Can it be rooted? The new Samsung got excellent reviews for both construction and performance, and I confess the pen has appeal. I also wanted a 10"-ish screen, and the Huawei comes in at 8, so while the price is right, you give up a fair amount of screen.
I can pick up the S3 32 gig with a keyboard case for $550, which was more than I wanted to spend, but i can live with it since I'm not the type to buy a new device every year. Or even every two or three years, for that matter.

I have purchased 5 Tab A devices, 3 T280 and 2 T555. Me the missus and little one have the T280, my mother and I have the T555. Both have an accelerometer and GPS. I don't know of a Samsung tablet that doesn't unless you meant gyroscope?
The Tab A T280 is stuck on Lollipop and the T550 runs Nougat.
I don't have issues with either for how I use them.
I also own the Tab S, but I use the Tab A T555 far more as it's light, comfortable to hold and runs just fine.

The first thing I do when looking for a new tab is xda support, if you can't get a custom rom for it, forget it!
M3 support is thin to non-existant, they are just getting it to root, and no TWRP ( I think) , other than that its the best hardware for the price. Tab s2 is good, Tab A fair, s3 just starting.
Xposed is now officially on NU, the main framework has been released, modules compatibility varies.
For that amount of cash, your in ultrabook / chromebook territory.
A tablet that does not fit in a pocket, and costs the same as a dell ultrabook with 256 gb hdd and an i5, is a bad choice maybe?
I use my t705 as a pocket device, with the aspect ratio it just fits, and the fact that's its also a very cool phone makes it a nobrainer.
Also remember the folding screens are just months away, once they are out most of the current tabs will be obselete real quick.
I want something larger format (~10") for use when doing demos for customers, casual browsing or web work away from my desk or when traveling for short spans. An 8" screen is not of interest.
