[ROM] Untouched Google Play Edition 5.1

About:
I used to own an S4, and untouched ROM's were perfect for me who wanted an experience as close to stock as possible. Other GPE ROM's just didn't fully cater for what I wanted - a ROM as if my phone was a true Google Play Edition device.
@dandroid13 had the perfect ROM, but when he gave up his S4 he couldn't release a new version once 5.1 came out (if it ever came out!), so passed on the details to me. I also no longer have an S4, but thought that there might be a place for an untouched ROM, so here it is.
Important Info:
I no longer own an S4 so cannot test this ROM myself. Please flash only if you know exactly what you are doing. I accept no responsibility for bricked devices, loss of data, or anything else that may go wrong during the process. I will try my best to support you, but you have to appreciate I no longer own the device so I might not know. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Install instructions:
- Boot to Recovery.
- Wipe Data if you are not coming from a 5.0 Google Play edition ROM.
- Flash the zip.
- Flash the patch.
- Reboot.
- FIRST BOOT MAY TAKE SOME TIME

This patch fixes a force close in the Settings app when launching the Security area, a crash when uninstalling apps, and enables the gallery app to delete files from the external SD card. If you do not have these issues the patch may not be required but I recommend it is installed.
FAQ:
It doesn't boot!

Where is the Google Now Launcher?
Not included - this ROM is as Google and Samsung released - Google Now Launcher is available on the Play Store.
Does anyone get random reboots with this ROM?
Some of you will, some of you won't. It's luck of the draw. If you do get random reboots this is an internal compatibility issue between your handset and the stock kernel. Flash a different kernel.

Did Google even released gpe 5.1.1 for s4?

I downloaded but i'm using my phone right now so i can't flash it yet 
 @dontpannic is it just me or does the folder "usr" seem to be missing from the flashable zip? :silly:

The OTA started doing the rounds last night. Can someone please test the ROM and report back?

Hmm, it shouldn't be! Let me check the source...
EDIT: My source ODIN system.img doesn't appear to have it either...

And this can be installed on 9505? I didn't know that is possible due to partitions and a few more modifications...

Quite weird cause when i extracted the ota update zip that a user posted online last night it had the folder... maybe the odin image is messed up

Removed the ZIP - there's evidently something wrong. I'll take a look, rebuild and reupload. Sorry to build peoples hopes up!

That's quite strange cause I dd'd the system image directly after updating with the OTA for the ODIN image.

Does it have stock kernel, and stock everything? I'd like to try stock rom, untouched on my s4..

Absolutely stock, as it comes.
@SamuriHL I think my SSD at work is on its way out, re-downloaded your image onto my laptop so now going to re-extract it to make sure I have everything

Welcome to: Stock PH4 Slimmed And Modified ROM
Hello everyone, yet again Sprint has surprised us with another OTA update, N910PVPU4DPH4 (PH4). So here it is, another Stock, de-bloated, slightly modified ROM that consists of the new OTA (PH4). Hope you guys enjoy!
Please Note: In order for this ROM to work correctly you must already be on N910PVPU4DPH4 (PH4) Baseband and firmware. If not please seek to the odin file or take the Sprint OTA to PH4.​

After Install: (Recommended)
Initial boot will boot twice.
Please allow about 10 minutes to boot up after initial boot.
Recommended to wait up to five minutes on initial boot before doing anything, then do a full restart.
To get back Developer Options go in to Settings, About Phone and rapidly tap Build Number until it says your a developer.
Important Notes:
To fix Netflix and Hulu issue please download Root Browser. Head to System --> Vendor --> Lib and find the file name "liboecyrto.so" and delete this file. Reboot and your good to go. I completely forgot about this file. Will have deleted in next update (If I need to make one for Stock)

Thanks for this! I haven't messed with TW in almost a year, so I'm probably doing something stupid... I flashed the PH4 modem and LTE (coming for OG5), and then this ROM. Now Wifi and camera auto focus aren't working. Any suggestions?

I have a few questions. if anyone knows the answers, beyond reasonable doubt, please chip in if don't know or aren't sure, please just say it or don't answer those parts
is it **fully** deodexed? or are some system apps still odex?
can ph4 be downgraded?
if so, does the 4.4.4 dev firmware still flash over it as well?
does this come with the infamous " ads required" VVM?

Because you are on LP software, I stated you must have taken the official PH4 OTA or odin to you. You cant just cross LP firmware with MM BL/BB. That will always break stuff.

Yes pure Stock deodex, cant leave any file odexed. You can always downgrade and no you must take the OTA or odin too PH4. Says in OP. And VVM is Stock.

I don't think you understood the bottom two questions lol not sure how the 4.4.4 dev firmware question was interpreted -- what I'm wondering is if the new security policy prevents that old old old firmware from being flashed now that it's become more public, PG1 and older did not block it.
and yes I'm aware the VVM would be stock. some users are reporting that a new "mandatory" version does not allow disabling ads anymore without a monthly subscription

So I have this ROM flashed and installed with the PH4 baseband. Everything is working (LTE and whatnot)--except for hotspot. I don't see an option for it, and I can't seem to find any information for stock hotspot enabling.
Am I missing something?

[Stock][Nougat][7.0]Twrp Flashable STOCK ROMs(3 versions) [J710F/J710FN]

Warning: Before you proceed, I am not responsible for any bricked or non working devices
Here are the 3 versions for stock ROMs made using J710F's ROM(J710FXXU5BRD5_J710FODD5BRD4_INS firmware) and works on both J710F and J710FN.
Following ROMs are deodexed,zipaligned but not rooted and made using Superrs Kitchen:
Slightly Debloated: Removed all those non removable apps which are installable via playstore like
Microsoft apps like Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Skype
All Pre-Installed google apps like Gmail,Drive etc.
Facebook
Fully Debloated: Debloated the "Slightly Debloated" version by removing some samsung apps like:
Samsung Pay Mini
Samsung Browser and Email app
Samsung Members
Opera Max
SHealth etc.
And all those apps removed in "slightly debloated" version
Deknoxed: Removed knox from the fully debloated version(s bike mode may not work), rest works fine.
Note:
If you want to use parts of my ROMs, feel free to do so, and give credits if you want
Also J710MN user if you want a stock deodexed version of your rom send me link of the stock rom
And for any changes or bugs, please look into previous comments, before commenting repeatitive comments.
First Boot may take time, and
Bugs: As far as I know, none. But if you get hindi version(or any other laguage other than english) on first boot, do wipe again and this time wipe internal storage too and reflash.

How long does it take to boot up? I downloaded the deKNOXED version, flashed it with TWRP and got already 10 minutes into first boot.

Mine booted in 7-8 minutes. Try going into twrp and wiping cache and dalvik cache. And wait for about 15min since first boot takes time.
But if you get some other language like hindi on startup I would recommend wiping system,cache,dalvik,data,internal again.

Nope, you need to install stock ROM via Odin and then update to Oreo. You can root after Updating to Oreo by flashing twrp again and make sure you install magisk 17.3 or above.
I would suggest not rooting until your country's version of stock oreo rom (Odin flashable) is available.

I made this TWRP flashable zip from December ARK4 Samsung firmware, using SuperRKitchen. It's deKnoxed and untouched apart from the lightest of debloated apps. Everything else is untouched and as per Samsung firmware. No root is included or any other mods or additions. I made this for myself, but offer it here for any interested parties. I'm not a dev, script warrior or ROM master. Just a guy with a T835. I was already on ARK4, but I include the ARK4 vendor image if you need to flash in twrp. It's v4 as it took me 3 attempts to make it! You just need to flash Magisk and/or Modesty Kernel if you want.

I'm not sure - but would think it doesn't. You can try though, just back up before you do and restore if not
To flash ROM you'll need TWRP installed. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga.../recovery-twrp-3-2-3-1-galaxy-tab-s4-t3843211.
Once TWRP is installed and working, wipe system, data etc
Then flash the ROM zip
Flash kernel & Magisk if you require

Thank you for your efforts. Having rooted I had a rigmarole to go thru to apply this update. It was so easy, just flashed with TWRP and I still had root, TWRP, and all my apps data and settings.
I hope that you will do the same for further firmware updates as they come out.

Do you use Windows? Is yes, stock you can download, and you can patch yourself. You only need a "lot of patience" for downloads, patching and installation. Plus if you follow the steps accurately, it will work perfectly. Let me know, and I will guide you. PM may not come, as I have nearly reached my PM limit.
