I ordered a Pixel XL 128 Silver back around the 20th of December from Verizon. My expected date of arrival is the 18th of January(Almost here!!) I've done some reading and it looks like any phone that's version 7.1 or higher isn't rootable. Has anyone gotten a handset recently that has already been 7.1 from the factory? I'm REALLY hoping that I'm shipped a rootable version, damn Verizon...
As long as your device come with 7.1 you can unlock it. 7.1.1 your doomed. Sry.
EDIT: I'd be willing bet that it will come with 7.1 and ask you to take OTA as soon as it powers and sets up. Just dont take it and you will be fine. But, again, just a guess.
Ordered mine on 11/25 and just received it 1/12 . It was shipped with 7.1. As @BDogg718 said, I just ignored the OTA update and unlock it first
They must have sold out of their stock fast. I ordered mine on the 12th of Nov and it arrived on the 13th.

Don't get your hopes too high for it to come next week. Looks as though most of the people are getting their dates pushed back till March now....even people that ordered before you did.
It really stinks that we don't seem to get notified until the night of the day we were supposed to get our phone delivered.
I ordered the 128gb on Thanksgiving day to catch Verizon's black Friday deal. It arrived on Jan6. It was on the october security update. I popped out my sim prior to powering it on and bypassed initial setup. Depixel8 worked on the first try.

Important tip: make sure you TURN OFF automatic updates in developer options. I was planning on unlocking my bootloader, so I ignored the update, but when I rebooted to activate my new SIM, the automatic update kicked in. So basically, now I'm boned because verizon.
I used to be a staunch proponent of rooting, hence the signature picture... But after owning several Samsung flagships with Samsung Pay options, I have to question the wisdom of rooting one's phone.
Sure you get an ad blocker (though there are apps that do the same through VPN,) or even some ****ty rom, but is it worth losing your phone security?
If you root, your pay system is lost, your security is lost. Now, if someone steals your phone, they basically steal your identity. FBI can violate your bhole if they want you, and anyone with a little bit of knowledge can make fun of you or abuse you.
Is it worth it? Anymore?
Got mine on the 13th, ordered Dec 23rd
Black XL 32GB, it had 7.1 so I promptly unlocked the bootloader

OK so there's a topic for mobilephonesdirect orders so thought I would start one for mobiles.co.uk.
They say they are getting stock in at the end of march but this could be wrong?
I've ordered the Vodafone 600 plan with £5 deduction, 600 minutes, unlimited texts and will pay an extra £5 for internet.
My Order still says Order Pending, put it through Saturday Night.

26th March? Really? Wow! I was expecting 1st April! That made my day
hoping to hear from you lot if you got any updates as i also plan to upgrade, and because o2 is being very very slow so far i dont want to wait till end of april to get this phone so i might just simply get 1 from vodafone

Is it normal for my order to still say "Pending - Order Received" Does it change from this before they get stock in?
I hope i'm wrong here guys (as i also have a preorder placed through them, way back at the end of Feb) but i believe the first stock is T mobile only, the vodafone stock wont be in / released until the first week in april in line with when the network is releasing the handset.
Could be wrong but that is the impression i was given by mobiles.co.uk customer services when i enquired about what happened r.e credit check etc seeing as i ordered so long ago.
Pending - order received is also fine it's just because the handset isn't in stock

I think you may be wrong there although am not 100% sure because they state:
Plus, at Mobiles.co.uk, the HTC Desire is unlocked and features absolutely no network branding.

So surely they are getting in Sim-Free handsets which have nothing at all to do with the network you have selected?
So it does, you may be right then, although i'm certain an email from customer services said T mobile stock was going out first, I think i've deleted it though.
Suppose i'll work on waiting a couple of weeks and if it arrives sooner then great
Having said that if the handsets aren't tied back to the network somehow then how do these companies ensure you dont just cancel the contract (as it would effectively be sim only) and keep the handset?
Interesting...
Seems like there orders could be coming direct from T-Mobile then.. Rather than normal where u'd get the SIM free handset direct from Mobiles.co.uk
May give an indication that ordering from T-Mobile direct will be giving us a SIM free handset aswell

They get their money purely for putting you on the contract, IE Vodafone will pay them straight away. But of course vodafone know you've bought it from mobiles.co.uk. If you cancel with vodafone within the period I'm pretty sure they would then inform mobiles.co.uk who you'd have to send the handset back to.
It's then all with the network provider and they technically could if they wanted to have nothing more to do with you at all. The only way you could get out of the contract is by buying it out which gives no loss of money to either vodafone or mobiles.co.uk.
Substitute vodafone with the network you've chosen
Hope we'll all get it on Friday lol, will be disappointed now if not. Wouldn't have been disappointed originally but now they updated their page to say first stock 26th march, that's when I'm expecting it!

I think tbh - that they're getting stock in on the 25th and release is 26th (Which is why the listed it as 25th).. With T-Mobile having a 1-2 day delivery time.. I'd imagine some will recieve it on the 26th - then some on the 27th.. Depending on the post. Purely a guess though.
It's killing me waiting though - im to use to ordering things and getting them next day now
Just got this from mobiles.co.uk:
Hello,
We are hoping this handset will be approved onto the T-Mobile network shortly although we do not have an exact date for this as yet. We are expecting to receive stock of this handset tomorrow. Once this handset is approved and available to release we will process your order and will update you via email.
Thank you for your patience.

So that means vodafone has to wait then?
I thought they were unlocked, so they would send them out regardless of the network you've chosen.
Just got this text:
"Your order has been accepted by your chosen network and has now been passed along to out Quality Team for further checks, thank you"
Have ordered it on vodafone. Maybe vodafone customers from mobiles.co.uk will get it dispatched tomorrow?
Mobiles.co.uk just sent a message confirming the network has accepted the order etc. The phone was ordered on March 13th (Vodaphone 12 month contract). Hopefully I won't have to wait much longer for my 'superphone'.
omg i knew they had some bad press but thought i woulod use them anyways as they looked fairly repretable and are an ultimate partner of htc. They claime to get htc stock before anyone else yet i pre order the desire pay for next day delivery and oh wait they arent even sending it until tuesday. Tuesday arg so much for getting it first and there deals are matched by tmobile. I for one will never use them again just thought i would post here so that maybe i could help others from making this mistake. I still cant get over the fact that tmobile had a delay and still have there stock out and in stores faster then this so called ultimate partner. But the thing that makes it worse is you could say they may not of had the stock come in but they have been showing it as in there warehouse for days yet the order sits at pending stock what stock they claimed to have enough devices to cover all pre orders. Avoid Mobilephonesdirect like the plague if you ever actually want to get your hands on your phone!!!
MPD have always said that they'd have stock the week beginning the 5th of April. Even if they did get it on the 1st, and ship it that very day, you wouldn't get it till Tuesday due to the bank holidays and the Royal Mail not delivering.
I've ordered my Desire with them because I've had good experiences in the past with MPD, and I'm more than likely to use them again.
Got my SIM today
Not sure what's going on. I have another line on t-mobile and received notification that the new number is active a few days ago.
MPD managed to post me the SIM - I had to sign for it 10 mins ago, so why could they have not posted the phones too?
A city dweller like me does get Royal Mail deliveries on a Saturday so I guess lots of other people do too.
Also it looks like my contract is already a week in now but no device!
Tom
You'll get it w/c 5th April, that has always been the word as far as i was aware
yeah i always knew the 5th as a date but they got stock in early ie and could of shipped for a Saturday delivery but even less then that its actually being sent on Tuesday so it wont arrive until Wednesday even though it was pre ordered not bought when they had stock. I guess i am being a little harsh on them but when i placed the order the description bragged about how they always have the htc devices first and yet people who are just popping to town to get a phone are now getting it before me. I guess i just really really hate waiting but it is a great deal, the guy from vodafone who was trying to beg me not to go even said he couldn't believe how good a deal it was. I'm sure the wait will be worth it once it gets here unbranded and cheaper then the best deals the high street can do.
had bad issues in the past with them so i avoid them as well.
If you really want to get the first unbranded stock, get your orders in at devicewire.co.uk when a new phone comes out.
they are the retail arm of Brightpoint, the main European HTC distributor. Unless a retailer is grey importing from somewhere else, any UK shop would get their stock from brightpoint anyway.....with a few exceptions like CPW or the networks, but in general, devicewire does seem to often be first, but they do sell out VERY quickly.
Clove.co.uk are very good as well, but that's mainly cos they're less than 5 miles from brightpoint's main depot!!
So I know this is old news now, but I called Verizon because my phone says I'm not eligible for an upgrade until March 22, but it allows me to click through on the new contract price. The only catch is I can't upgrade from a store or 3rd party, it must be online through VZW. I explained I was holding out for the Nexus and was going to buy it Friday morning and wanted to know when it would be available online, and she confirmed the launch date is in fact the 9th.
Again, I know no one has to believe me, but it was confirmed =)

I bet even with its launch date being pushed so close its still going to do much better launch day then the RAZR

Just received 2 shiney AT&T Note 4's on 8/26 as an upgrade. Unfortunately BOTH are on Lollipop 5.01, build C5...which from what I've been reading means it can't be rolled back to 4.4...so this method of achieving/maintaing root probably won't work.

This is a bad thing for people who like to tweak because (based on my reading) OC5 cannot be rolled back to KitKat, and cannot be rooted at this time.
I also have a new Note 4 on order, so I will post which firmware version it has when I get it.
If anyone else has received a new AT&T Note 4 recently, which firmware version did it come with?
I hated to be the bearer of bad news but I would've wanted to know before I ordered. Had been following the root thread at (http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-att/general/galaxy-note-4-root-progress-t2961974) since last December with great anticipation. Then started following @gatesjunior's thread in hopes of a temp fix. He actually uploaded his new fix 12 hours before I got the phones. Never imagined they'd update their new devices before shipping. Actually considered sending it back since its not what I have proof of ordering. Still a nice phone though. By the way...so far, none of the "no root firewalls" seem to work on LTE phones. I've just been runnig with "background data" turned off.
I can confirm this. Received an insurance replacement 3 weeks ago after rolling over mine with a car. (Amazingly the screen did not Crack! Had some scuff marks and at first I thought it had survived. But started having missed calls and random instabilities.)
Mine came with OC5 and unfortunately it will not allow latest OC6 update to come through.
Images
get stuck at co4 , softbrick and waiting for Odin flash for coc5. if anyone got this firmware please share link
Does this mean that devs will be investigating Lollipop root more? Whether temp or permanent?
I've been following the threads very closely since December, but once root was obtained on KK it seemed like no one tried too hard for LP since it had battery issues as well as everyone being able to roll back up until recent updates. At least, no one really reported much for LP.

I'm on the next program, and my phone has been acting up after the update.. would ATT replace the phone free of charge if I don't have insurance?
Depends on what's "acting up." Take it to a Device Service Center. They'll ask you if you tried factory resetting it. They will reset it if you dont. Then will decide if they can replace it. You'll get a refurbished unit if they do, though.

I received my shiny new (sealed in the box) Note 4 today, and it also came with OC5 preloaded.
Since OC5 can't be rooted and can't be rolled back to KitKat, I strongly suspect that AT&T is intentionally shipping all new Note 4's with OC5 or newer to prevent rooting. I would be surprised if anyone receives a new one that has KitKat.
There may not be much of a point, but I will probably disable OTA updates for now to keep my phone at OC5. You never know when another root exploit might be found.
A tip for any other new users, see this thread for discussion of things that can be done without root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/qa-unrooted-miss-root-aroun-t2931785
I have a Note 4 .. and my problem its... when I direct in some app to read or write to the External SDcard... show this nag screen "Folder is read-only or cannot be written to: open failed: EACCESS (permission denied )
any fix to this without root my phone? please
I ordered mine last Thursday and when I spoke to the guy on the phone, he assured me that it would ship with KitKat, and that I wouldn't be forced into taking the FOTA Lollipop update. But; it arrived Friday with 0C6 already installed! I was pissed. Still Lollipop 5.0.1. Damn! I want root! Or at least be able to choose what programs I can use. Some of my "Non-Root" programs can't read or write to the SD card. That's the main reason I wanted a Note 4 over the Note 5. Defies logic. Thanks AT&T!
So; where does that leave me? Battery life is dismal, at best - even with extremely low usage. Memory usage is over 55% with nothing running. Doesn't pass the sanity test.
I got a new Note 4 today with OC6 installed as well
I received mine (OC6) a couple of weeks ago. My battery life is awesome. I went into application manager and disabled almost all the bloatware and samsung apps that I don't use. ...before I did that the battery kind of stunk.
I received another OC6 today. The box was opened by AT&T as the don't text and drive sticker was removed and placed inside the box.
we were offered a killer deal 2 note 4 phones to upgrade our note 3 phones AT&T i accepted the deal because i was assured the phones would ship overnight (which they did) with kitkat 4.4.4 but when the packages arrived yesterday i opend the shipping box both had a sticker pasted on the side S/W VER:N910AUCU2COC5
i called att and was told by a manager (or as they claimed to be) all note 4's were upgraded in house before stocking to at least N910AUCU2COC5
i asked if i could return them and cancel my upgrade i was told sure i can return the device but i would still be stuck under a 2 year contract and would not have the option to upgrade again until 04-04-2017 and that they could not send me any other kind of device until that time.
so now im stuck with 2 locked down phones no root and cant continue my game dev project until i atleast have temp root atleast not on these.
developing a game called Coal City and i have to have some sort of root for inline mods using memory edits so i can see the effects of changing a string without recompiling and reloading each time.

First, curious what kind of deal did they offer you?
Second, As you asked before hand which OS the phone would ship with and the phones are worthless to you to develop on... it seems to me the devices could be returned and all changes to your account zeroed out.
.
My box was still factory sealed when I got it. The label on the outside said OC5, and that's what version was on the phone.
@giga8547
If you are serious about root and development, you might consider buying a Nexus 6, which is now only $350 with no contract on Amazon. I know that's a chunk of change still, but I'm skeptical that we'll ever get permanent root on the AT&T or Verizon Note 4.

Got mine today. Has COC6. However, my box was not factory sealed. In fact, has a generic box. Called, said I might be able to return or exchage at a company store. Went down and they said I could only exchage for another note 4. He checked they were out of stock. Going to call around to find one in stock. Will update when I find out. Didn't think to mention the box when I called though. Also mine was shipped from "RLC" In Fort Worth Tx.
Picture of box attached.
I originally decided I wanted this phone for Christmas, but then I saw it was out of stock. I'm on the wait list, signed up for nowinstock.com to alert me - I've waited a while, and it still isn't restocked. The battery on my 5x is terrible, and i can only use my phone very lightly because of it. Is it worth waiting until the pixel restocks? I really don't want to settle, but I also won't know 100% how good the phone is until I actually buy it. Also, I will not buy it from Verizon (I don't want to be locked down and get bloatware, and I use at&t).
Does anyone know how long until there is a restock? It will take 3-4 weeks to let alone ship, so I wonder how long I'll be waiting to order in the first place. That "out of stock" every time I check is making me hopeless D:
I was in the same boat in November but the wait list never sent me an email. I ended up using nowinstock.com and got a notification from them in a day or 2 and bought one. You have to be Johnny on the spot though, by the time I finished up the checkout process and went back to Google devices site they were sold out again. I never did get an email from Google's wait list.
Sent from my BTV-W09 using Tapatalk
I never got a waitlist email from google either. But I manually checked daily for about 10 day period in November and finally caught them available. Only took a couple days to ship.
Keep checking, seems like they get restocked periodically.

I use that site too. It's been a long time and still nothing, and it says they last restocked November 30th. That's over a month. I guess it will be a long wait I check daily just in case as well, and nothing.
The Verizon thread says they are finally seeing some deliveries (some had been pre ordered since Oct) . But, I wonder if the Google store has put a little hold on the pixels to play whack a mole with some of the issues.

Well when you order through Verizon, the Pixel XL 128GB (all colors) have a ship date of February 17th, so I guess that means it'll be a while!
You might also keep an eye on Swappa and eBay. That's what I'm doing. I have a 32GB, but may make the switch to a 128GB. Not that I probably need it, since I can backup all my pics and videos at full resolution, but I always have to have the biggest a s best. LOL.
From what I'm told by a very reliable source at Google, they've been feeding Verizon with the bulk of all 2 million Pixels that will/have been manufactured. 128GB NAND is just very hard to source.
If you're paying full retail price, you could check the Fi store. You don't need to activate Fi as long as you pay full price of the phone (otherwise, if you're financing and buy thru Fi, you have to activate within 30 days or else you'll be billed the entire cost of phone).
That's how I got my black 128GB XL. I had been on that waitlist for a while. I think I still am lol and never got an email. But the Fi stock comes and goes certainly more often.

I check Fi daily, everything has been out of stock for weeks.
Got my 128gb slate gray from Verizon it's back ordered now but the blue one is shipping right away. The rest are anywhere from Jan 17 to Feb. But just because it says those dates doesn't mean it won't ship until then. Basically as they make more they'll ship earlier. I work for Verizon and they're not stocking stores with anything but the 32gb.

I would never buy from Verizon, but I'm confused - how did you get the 128gb if they only will stock the 32gb?
I wish Google would restock the one I want. It's been well over a month now and I feel incredibly fed up.
