Hello everybody,
i'm experiencing a strange problem.
My Z5P (NO ROOT, LOCKED BOOTLOADER, NOTHING DONE WITH IT YET, JUST "PURE" SONY) went off last night after the baterry ran out of juice.
This morning i plugged it in and after it had approx 40% i tried to turn it on and i got a bootloop.
It crashes and restarts after the white "waves".
Tried to turn it off with the button in the sd/sim card tray, but after doing so and restarting, bootloop again.
I was going to "repair" it via xperia companion, plugged it in to my usb, turned it on (it was completly off) and then it booted just fine. Unplugged usb restarted, bootloop again.
So situation now ist: it starts perfectly when pluged in via usb to a computer, it bootloops if i restart or turn it on without being connected to a computer.
Repair by Xperia Companion was not done yet.
Anyone experienced something similar?

No I've never experienced that. Having said that I would repair using Sony companion. It's quite possible that something has corrupted you file system when the device switched off due to battery having no juice.

Yeah i guess something like that happened, but anyhow i'll need to repair it via xperia companion, since i've to turn it in because the audio jack won't work. and i want to hand over a "clean" device to the support, they don't need to see my personal stuff.

In that case make sure you copy off the stuff you don't want to lose and do a full factory reset to wipe everything. Confirm the wipe by checking via a file manager what's on the fone. Good luck with the repairs.

That's the reason why i still haven't done a software repair, how do i keep my data, i mean messages and stuff.
whatsapp will get it back from the google backup, but what about allo and stuff, since i'm not rooted it i can't use backup apps with their full potential, any suggestions.

You'll have to boot up with the fone connected via USB cable, then use a file manager to transfer the files you want to save. For texts and stuff I use SMS Backup & Restore. Everything else I either copy to my sdcard, Dropbox or google.

Hey all,
So i'm pretty new to all this phone tweaking but ive managed to try out a few things. A week back i flashed a new rom(bionix rom) onto my galaxy s i9000 through clockwork and i've managed to mess up my phone a little. After successfully flashing the rom i couldn't get 3g data and charge my phone or connect it to a computer. When i plug my phone into charging/computer it turns off and then gets itself into a phone charging loop. I then went back to the most recent backup rom(using clockwork) i made hoping it would fix the problem, but its still there. Later i realised the rom i flashed was made for another model of the phone, which uses a different band. When i go into settings, about phone it says the current band is T959 ( which is the vibrant), but i'm pretty sure thats the wrong band! The thing is i can still use my phone, it still turns on fine so its not bricked i guess? I can still play games, send texts, use wifi etc but i just can't use 3g data or connect it to a computer. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered a similar problem and would know how to fix it!
Thanks!
Pretty simple.. do a clean flash (re-partition checked, pit file selected) with any other firmware.
this will wipe all your data though, so make sure you make a backup
You use odin to do this?
I've thought of that but i cant connect phone to computer without it turning off :S
just use the search function... it's simple flashing... there are tons of tutorials for each single firmware (including which pit file to use and where to download)
I know that, but how can i use odin if i cant connect my phone to the pc?
did you actually try if the problem is the same when the phone is in downloadmode?
alternatively you could connect to adb through wifi (there is an app for that) push some rom that flashes through clockwork (tayatumas does i think) and flash it. might.fix your problem

Hey bro,
I managed to fix it! Sorry for sounding like a ****!
Cheers again
Hello,
i've got a problem like the title says. Everytime i connect my phone to the computer via usb, i get the message the device wasnt recognized by the computer. i tried everything i know, another usbport. etc. i want to install a new radio, but without connecting to the computer it isnt possible, because i dont have the usb debugging active.
i hope someone has an idea what i can do. i have rcmix 6.1.0.1 installed.
Are you using Windoze?
If you are unfortunate enough to be doing so then you might need to reinstall HTC Sync program (sometimes it works better if you completely uninstall it first including manually removing any left over folders and files in the application data folder.
thanks for the quick answer.
i tried it, but it didnt help. where is this application data folder? do you mean on the computer? i found after uninstalling no more folders from htc.
and yes i use windows home premium 64bit.
got another idea? now it says also the device does not function properly. i hope that nothing on the device is broken.

yes he is talking about your computer... if in the "program files" you hasn´t anythink about HTC SYNC,, ALL IS OK...
but enssure that in the configuration panel-system-dispositive administrator you hasn´t any drive installed for your android device... if you have installed it, erase or uninstall it before re-install htc sync or the htc drivers....then you can re-install and reboot windoux...
and hey buddy!I recommend to you to consider to pass to linux, you will not have this type of mistakes... LOL
UBUNTU is great!
I'm afraid I don't know much about Windoze but memory serving appication data is a hidden folder so you will need to change it to view them and is in the Documents and Settings / [Your username] directory.
Device not function is just a default Windoze error when it can't install something, ignore it, your phone is fine.
If you have reinstalled HTC Sync, try a USB port on the opposite side of the PC. So if you trying ones next to each other on the front, try ones on the back (they use different headers on the motherboard).
If that doesn't work then I'm afraid I probably won't be of much more use, sorry.

thanks guys for your help, but although i followed your advices, except the one to switch to linux ;-), it hasnt got better yet. the problem is still exsisting and i dont know what else i can do.
anyone got an idea how to install radio without having usb debugging and the drivers from the computer?
Hi!
I've got the same problem with 2 different PCs, one with Win7 64-bit, the other with Win XP PRO.
Other devices work fine with the same USB ports, so i doubt it's windows or the PC...

you can´t flash any radio if your phone is not recognized
well.. Let's continue with the problem in question...
1.At some time could you have connected it?with the stock rom maybe?
2.have you tried to swich on mass storage usb mode?what´s the result?
3.when you tries to swich the phone for flash some radio you enables "usb debug"
and "only chargue"?
its a weird problem
Hey man, I've had the same problem with my old Desire (normal). Which was actually broken.. Went back to the store twice and it was sent to htc twice. But that one wasn't rooted tho. But in the end, the sensors were broken & something inside the phone that didn't recon the pc. But also try a full wipe, which helped temporarily for me.
1. yes i functioned, not only with stock rom, but also with the next few custom roms. but then 2 weeks ago the problem occured and i dont know why. before i used custom roms for months.
2. it also doesnt recognize the mass storage anymore, i dont see the memorycard as a storage device in explorer.
3. yes i turned usb debugging on and connected charging only, i flashed radios before. but the problem with the actual is, that my signalstrength is weak and so i wanted to flash the recommended for this rom, and so i recognized there is something wrong, cause my problem here occured.
normally i sync with myphoneexplorer so i didnt realize that mass storage didnt function anymore.
and because earlier i got no problems, i think more and more, that something on the phone went wrong.
maybe it helps if i go back to stockrom and undo all changes i made, to start all over again?
again thanks mate for your effort to help me out

you´re welcome companion
i reded in a spanish forum ( www.htcmania.es ) about your problem and there´s people that had the same problem with a S.GALAXY S & desire HD...
someone was solved it fullwiping and formating (in the paragraph of mounts & storage into CWM) and flashing another ROM... then they formatted their sd card with a card reader OF THE PC... later they was formatted the sd card from the pc and the problem was disapeared successfully...
BUT if it persists i think that you should (mi suggestion) send your machine to the thecnical service....
ok, will try this today evening when i'm home. if this doesnt work i will reset it in the orginial state and send it to the technical support. i will leave a comment if i was successful, perhaps this will help others with the same problem.

Same boat I was also at work busy phone updated and bam now I am brick. I even used Titanium backup to remove system updater and the thing STILL updated.
Can some one help us please
nick4nick good news! I am unbricked here's how:
First download the program from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126354
It is a self extracting rar in non english (not sure the language), make sure to set your extract destination as mine wanted to install it in the Firefox directory.
Anyways...
If you need to install the drivers for your phone to recognize when you hold back and plug it in they are in the drivers folder just run the ggsetup-2.2.0.10.
If you already have those drivers ignore that then, and open the X10FlashTool file (I right clicked and ran as adminitrator) Click the Flash button and follow the steps. (It will say connect phone while holding back at this point DO NOT do it earlier than when it tells you or it will fail.)
Next it will run through some text about how it is flashing your phone etc, when it says to enable debugging blah blah blah you're done.
I unplugged my phone turned it on, got the SE screen, the android screen and was back on 2.3.2. It said "update failed" and I laughed because I clearly tried to stop it.
Last info, in the thread I started when I was in a panic too someone said we need to delete mobile care using titanium backup, I had just removed the updater portion which is not enough. Hopefully you get it working, good luck!
thanks !!!! i will try it
Evil-Eye ' you are my new friend ''''' THANKS
Sounds like it worked, good thing we avoided disaster.
hi guys
when u said u were bricked and now repaired?
is ur radio working or not?
Mine was simfree on o2 running "R800i_3.0.1.A.0.145_UK" , unlocked bootloader , over the air update killed my phone , after applying the fix in post one, and doing a complete wipe , everything seems fine , radio working and everything.

My radio is working but I am getting insufficient space on device now wondering if that has anything to do with recovering from a brick. Basically I can't install anything from the market or update any apps.
Minds to getting insufficient space on device, but i do know that i have lots of space. We need help!!!
I'm terrified of this happening to me. I just got my phone and can't use rom manager to create a backup rom because clockwork has no xperia install. What can/should I do in advance?
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
OK I got fed up so here's what I did:
I relocked my bootloader and went COMPLETELY stock. That will fix the insufficient space, also I read you can just flash the tft but since I'm not that proficient at this since this is my first droid I just went 100% stock.
I updated to 2.3.3 to get that over with, then I re unlocked my bootloader redid the root, then I locked my bootloader again.
I decided to just keep the bootloader locked so I don't have to deal with the worries of not updating. However using Titanium backup and removing Mobile care will stop you from updating if you are insistent on never updating. Good luck to everyone, you can definitely get to where I am though. Rooted 2.3.3 locked bootloader and able to accept OTA updates from now on
i have a Z1 compact .. it was working properly and all of a sudden it restarted itself and i got a message that the homepage is not available and i can't unlock the screen. i used the small off button to force it to shut down and then start it again, it started but with the same problem; i can't unlock the screen to access the phone and i don't have network either!! ever since it keeps on restarting itself automatically every few minutes! the Sony support website said it might be related to network problems or SIM card problems, i contacted my network provider and they keep on telling me that's a mobile phone problem!! i used to be kitkat and upgraded to lollipop a week ago, could that be part of the problem?!
i appreciate any feedback on the matter as i can't access my phone completely!!
thank you.

That's kind of vague... Is your phone stock? How did you upgrade, official or unofficial? Do you have important data on the phone you don't want to lose? If not, you could reflash, either with Flashtool or official Sony method.

Well, that would seem like it wasn't your fault, but it might be difficult to get them to help you without paying for it. You could try contacting Sony and see what they say. You also could see if you can get ADB shell on your computer, and copy files from terminal, then reflash, (if you have ADB installed).

I need help as I have no idea what I'm doing or how to fix this. Fold 4 rooted, went to reset phone and lock bootloader but apon restarting the phone I get a screen like attached and I can only boot to this screen and download mode. USB debugging is off and on Odin it displays COM4 but I cannot flash anything as it just says setting up connection. I have no idea what to do as there's nothing online that remotely helps. Been 3h and I'm still just going back and forth on sites ECT.. completely stuck here. I'm not that techy with this type of stuff... I have no idea what I've done wrong I just wanted to reset and flash new firmware with no root and be stock. Never had this happen before and I'm unsure if this is the right place to ask for assistance
Could be a bad download on one of the files, including Odin. That's the first step to troubleshoot this, redownloading the files.

It's pretty standard procedure in terms of troubleshooting. What you can also do is download the stock image for the phone. Perhaps something got messed up and needs to be reset with the original stock image.
I've already downloaded a fresh firmware but I cannot flash it as it just sits at setting up connection

Then redownload Odin. IF the files are fine, then Odin is having issues.
You can also try rebooting your computer.
I solved the issue, if you throw it against the ground full force it no longer works and you won't have to worry about it again, easy fix.
Solved the issue BTW, just used a different pc
Try and download the May update and flash it
Were you trying to flash the ROM?
