So weird problem started a couple days ago. When I'm navigating using Google Maps, it only shows the bird's eye view instead of the 3D view that I'm always used to?
I've looked all over in the settings and can't figure it out.
Anyone suggestions?

Right, NORMALLY that would do it, but it doesn't in my case. So frustrating. WTF?
I tried seeing if I could get the problem and couldn't. Instead all my maps turned grey
Reset the data and cache of that app and see if that fixes it.

That is what worked for my wifes phone at first. I had to delete cache and data, then uninstall and install the app again. Seems to have fixed it for a while now. The screen was also flickering a lot while in navigation.

well.... have you tried using two finger, swipe downwards...
I had this problem recently.
You must get a fix on GPS signal to have the mode revert from bird's eye view.
But if you still experiencing the issue, clear the cache, uninstall Google Maps and reinstall. Lock on a GPS signal and it will go back.
Make sure you have clicked on the blue arrow as well so that's not causing it either.
This is driving me insane. I'm running stock 4.2, and my phone keeps randomly rebooting in my pocket. I've never used a different ROM, only rooted. Only thing I could say is that I tried to use SuperUser to keep my root after the OTA upgrade, and it did not keep it successfully (is that actually possible yet, btw? I know the GNex Toolkit doesn't seem to support it).
No ideas here. I know I can reset, and I probably will at this point, but.. any causes?
I had the same problem and I find out that hd widget app is making my phone to reboot. After I uninstalled the app I don't have the rebooting problems. If you have the same app try to uninstall it and see if the revolting stops.

I do have that app, and the thought crossed my mind - I was wracking my brain to remember whether or not the rebooting began before or after that install a few days ago.. I will uninstall it and see what happens. Thank you!
Shoot, because I hate the stock lockscreen clock on 4.2
EDIT: Went to uninstall, and my phone soft-rebooted. Guess that answers that..

Pretty sure the reboots are location service related and a bug in 4.2. Hard for me to tell, because I am on AOSP which is a bit different in that regard.

That's what I hear. Which I don't get because I don't use the weather widget, only the clock (unless you're talking time zones or something). Or unless you mean I don't have GPS enabled and it's trying to use it?
I also heard it's from a bug with Google on the 3rd party lockscreen widgets in general.
Anytime I try to use the camera app it closes. When I first started the phone it was working but after a couple hours it just stops working

I'm having the same problem, but only when opening the camera in portrait mode. If I open it in landscape, it works fine.

Just ran into this problem where the camera app would FC after launch. The problem is Last Pass and the new app integration they introduced recently. You have to disassociate the camera from Last Pass and the problem is gone. The setting is in the last Pass options.

Having the same issue since I installed all my apps and did play store updates. It only crashes when I go into portrait mode. It works fine as long as I stay landscape.
Tried removing Snapchat, vine, all camera related apps. Closed camera. Deleted cache, clear data.
I thought maybe it was the sd card. That didn't fix it either. I'm stumped. Sending HTC and email.

I've just found that if I go into the app in landscape mode, go to Settings\Reset to default, then go into portrait, it works fine until the app is closed/reopened.

This is exactly my problem
I emailed htc from my corporate email so they should get back to me fast
Thanks for that, it isn't a "big" deal now that I realize I can turn the phone and get it to work but it was maddening until I read that here.

Thanks to @mentallo in this post, it's now fixed for me.
The problem was the new lastpass app integration. To fix it: -
Log into the Lastpass app
Open Preferences
Edit App Associations
Select Camera
Change it to 'Do not show fill window'
Confirmed for me well, thanks for passing it along.

Did anyone still couldn't find a solution?

My problem was with a rotate app that I had installed which was interfering with the camera app. I ended up using an app called Rotate by FaMe IT. Auto doesn't work but Forced Auto does work. If you have "Enable per App settings" unchecked, then the stock camera will be black on Portrait mode. I also deselected the "Show Selection Popup".
I bought my m8 yesterday. My camera has never worked. I don't know what to do please help me about it? I have Htc One M8 without camera
m8 camera crashing
I am having the same problem with the camera crashing in portrait mode immediately upon opening the app, but not crashing or at least not crashing right away in landscape mode. I've had my m8 since it came out and have not had any problems until recently. I do not use last pass but do run Roboform. After reading these posts I disabled Roboform and camera works even in portrait mode. Have been trying to find an option in Roboform's settings similar to the last pass fix, but so far nothing. Is anyone familiar with Roboform or have any suggestions? I run Roboform on my laptop as well for easy syncing and never had problems before this. Thx
This is an older thread, but I just ran into the problem, so I figured I would post an update.
My camera started doing this a few days ago, and I started suspecting hardware because I don't have any apps that accessed the camera. Or rather, so I thought. It turns out that the banking app I use can take pictures of checks for deposit, and that after using that app (even if I didn't use the camera) the main camera app would force close. Freezing (or at least not using) the banking app leaves the camera fully functional.
This sounds like a bug in the camera API, not the apps, but if this happens it would be wise to check all installed apps that get used frequently to see if they specify a camera permission.
Is anyone having issues with security setting under personal? When I select it, the settings application force closes with Unfortunately, Settings has stopped. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Standard Verizon note 4. no root.
Played around a bit and decided to do a settings reset which corrected issue.

Thanks for the feedback. Reset settings worked for me. Only had to change a few things back from default. Did not have to redo apps. I spoke with Verizon and a patch may be coming in Jan. Some apps and wireless charging have been causing an issue with the security setting.

Resetting the settings didn't work for me and I don't feel like factory resetting my phone every couple days so I guess it's gonna stick around a while.

I had to start in safe mode to get security settings to open up for me. Not a great long term solution but it worked so I could change the unknown sources setting.
Thanks for the reply, how do you start in safe mode?
These are the instructions for the Note 3 but they work:
With the device powered off, press and hold the Power button until the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 logo appears then release.
With the logo on the screen, press and hold the Volume down button until Safe mode appears in the lower left of the screen then release.
Note This may take up to 45 seconds.
Thanks!

Thank you. Just got this device today, and one of the first things I tried to do was install an app I am testing. It kept crashing trying to get to security. I tried Safe Mode, and it worked great. Thanks again.

That kept happening to me and I finally figured out a solution! I kept having my apps reinstalled from Google and, whenever an app that I had previously used that required root access was installed, Settings would crash whenever I tried to open Security. So, it was a long process but I reinstalled only those apps that didn't need root access. Afterwards, I kept testing to make sure I could still access Security without the crash and, when something was installed that caused the crash again, I knew which app it was, uninstalled it, and all was fine again. I had to reset the phone 6 times to figure this out but all's good now!

Glad you got it working. Would you be able to tell me what app it was? I have the same problem.
I had so many apps that needed root that it just made sense to not have Google install my apps after resetting. I really can't recall specifically which one it was. What I do suggest, which will take a while but is so worth the time, is to make a list of what's on there now and only reinstall like 3 at a time and then check to make sure that everything's ok. If it is, install a couple more, etc. That way, if one screws it up, you'll know which one to uninstall rather than having to reset it all over again. At least if you do install one that needs root and, therefore, screws it up for you, you can just uninstall that one program. Good luck! Let me know how it goes. ☺
Was finally able to figure this out (for me anyway). Its my S View cover. With the cover off I have no problem getting into security put it back on and it forcecloses. I went to Best Buy and tried 2 others and they both caused the security to forceclose as well.
Was chatting with a Samsung Rep where they remotely control your phone and she came up with the conclusion that it is a bad app and wants me to do a factory reset and add the apps back 1 at a time. I will wait till I flash a ROM and do it then. I am leaning towards that it is a app. If every Note 4 with a S View cover had this issue then it would be more widely known.
I had the S cover and that wasn't the problem. Like I said, it was cos I was having Google automatically install my old apps, some of which were apps that needed root like Titanium Backup, Rom Toolbox, etc.. I was able to put Apex as my home, just not apps that needed root. Titanium is the reason I want root so much. Being able to clean up or delete apps I don't use.
Yes, i had the same problem with my s view cover. Once i took it off, i was able to go back into the security settings.

I figured out the app that was causing the issue for me. I use Nova and also TelsaUnread. I uninstalled Telsa and no more problem even with the S View cover.
So here's what happend,
I got My OP 3 yesterday
Rooted It And Fixed The RAM
And Installed Applock.
After setting up applock I enabled the finger print feature and was playing around with it
After some time I cleared all the recent apps and went back to facebook expecting a lock screen
but I was greeted with my wall. Ever since The Applock stopped taking my fingerprint and turned off every time I cleared apps
I tried re installing it,restarting the phone and it was still the same
Anyone Who can help me Fix This??
Lock it ... Open multi tasking and you will see a padlock ... Its not a secure way. You can bypass it as you want. Example clearing cache and data of the applock it will remove "Facebook" from locking apps ... I think via exposed module you will find more secure way to lock apps

In recents menu there are two clear buttons in 3.2.4 where one can either kill normal processes visible on screen or can kill even the background processes, so one with background processes killing even kills your app lock. In 3.5.2 I think they have changed that and you can select which kind of clear all button you need. So wait for update in next version your app lock could actually work.
Thanks for the reply guys, But what do I do for the fingerprint issue, I doesn't work when put my finger on the scanner it goes home.

Which applock have you tried? Try using applock by keepsafe this one I tried it was working well except the clear all background app condition. And I don't think any applock is able to handle that. So once try the app I recommend if the problem still presists post again, I will think of some other way.

Did u try the app I suggested and did the problem solve as I tried using this app and tested your needs it worked for me.
I dropped my OP3 and since then the fingerprint sensor doesn't work. I tried as someone suggested by going to settings and forced stopped the fingerprint part and cleared the data cache too. Then rebooted but no luck. The button just won't respond .Only thing that happened was in the settings the " fingerprint" started showing along with security. But that's just about it. Doesn't show any fingerprint options or settings.
A little help here guys.
