Hey Geeks,
my windows 7 (notebook) and also my windows 10 are not detecting my Nexus5X.
Installed was Android 6.0.1 and now over the beta programm the 7.1.1.
I want to root my 5X to Mirror my Display on TV without Chromecast.
But the 5X dont show any messasge, no mtp message, no rsa
Both Computers don't detect them in device manager.
I've got a normal USB-Calble with a USB-Type-C Adapater...
Some people said that i've to deinstall the drivers from nexus root toolkit, but how?
Is that really the solution?
Nice Greetings,
Michael

I am using windows 7 pro x64 and my computer cannot install the driver when I check USB tethering on the OTA.
I know it is not my phone since my linux machine works fine with usb tethering.
However on my windows machine, it fails to install right away and my device manager has a "Android phone" that is not installed.
Is there something I am missing on my windows machine to not let it finish installing? If I remember correctly on my old setup it would install the NDIS remote driver, but that doesn't happen for me.
Any suggestions?
EDIT : Just tried roommate's computer which is also win7 pro x64 and it failed as well. Is windows 7 pro missing this NDIS driver? If so does anyone know a solution?
The link below is to PDAnet's download page. Just pick the one for you and it'll install the drivers.
If you don't know the bit size to your computer click start, right click my computer, properties, and it should say there.
The problem isnt PDAnet, I prefer not to use a 3rd party software when I can use the native 2.2 usb tethering. The problem is windows 7 pro not detecting the NDIS server driver. I confirmed it working for linux but I do not have a computer around me that uses other versions of Windows 7 besides pro
EDIT: Just tried my G1 on cm 6.1 and it found the NDIS driver for the G1.
Hmmm I'm running out of ideas, Ill try and find someone with windows 7 home or ultimate

You don't have to use pda net, it just has the drivers you need in the software. Once you install pdanet, the drivers will allow win7 to recognize your phone. then you can uninstall pdanet. I had to do the same thing.

Thanks. I've been trying to tell people this over and over. No one listens.
Installed pdanet on my computer, which it also installed onto my phone but no luck. It still fails the driver install when i check usb tethering.
It did however install PDAnet's own "network driver", but device manager still sees "Android phone" as an unknown device when i check usb tethering. Not to be confused with the adb driver which I have already have up and running
I still have not had a chance to try another operating system besides linux :/
Hi I have that stuffs what in the title, and have connection problems also
I have 64 bit Win8 Pro so I have media stuffs and all what Kies need. I installed Kies, restarted the machine and try to connect phone. Connected the USB Kies still write to me Connect some device.... In windows device manager have an Unrecognized Android Phone, so I think driver sucks. Try to connection problem wizard in Kies, doesn't help. If I run as an admin don't help to me....
Have some way to manually install that driver in win device manager?
Under win7 64 problem few weeks ago I can use my phone with Kies, but with win8 I can't.
I hope we can figure something out guys!

Please anyone help me out!
Same problem
Im having the same problem. My pc doesnt recognize the phone(with kies installed and the latest updates from microsoft and samsung)(with drivers ofc). I have contacted with samsung support center and they say that so far they cant guarantee that kies will work fine for all the devices in windows 8. I ve never had windows 7 so i dont know about a problem there. I ve upgraded from Windows XP(which Kies was working exellent) to Windows 8 and now im facing these problems. Hope to fix soon
Samsung galaxy ace, gt-s5830, 2.3.6
Windows 8 Pro 32-bit
Win7 drivers "SHOULD" work with Win8... but anyways, did you try uninstalling ALL drivers of your phone and removing cached drivers from your system? Then do a fresh install of drivers try offline first. It doesn't work, remove everything and try if windows itself can find the driver for you. But usuallly the phone itself would make the PC install the drivers the phone needs.

Hi,
I have a new PC with Win 8.1 Pro x64. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and have installed the latest (I would suppose) Samsung drivers for Mobile Phones ver 1.5.45.0
Using it on my other PC with Win 7 Pro x64 anytime I plug the USB cable into the PC I see in Explorer the device and both partitions/memory of the phone being Card and Phone.
Using it on my new PC with Win 8.1 in Explorer I do not see anything anymore. How do I access phone data like on Win 7 PC?
I do not know if this can help but this is what I have in devices resources panel:
Under "Samsung Android Phone" I have Samsung Android ADB Interface
Under "Portable Devices" I have Samsung Mobile MTP Decice with a Alert yellow mark; but I have it for all other Card Reader devices.
I also find it strange, if I am correctly recall, that before installing Samsung USB Drivers I did not have any Yellow Alert mark on other USB card reader devices. Is there any correlation between installed Samsung Drivers or not?
Lastly, is there a direct and official URB for obtaining the most updated Samsung USB Drivers for Mobile phone or not? If so, which one is it so I can bookmark it?
Please advise.....
NOTE: I know this has no influence on device behavior on Windows but I have CyanogenMod 11 running on this phone. Just wanted to let you know.
edit: after reboot and usb debugging enabled, all is fine. thanks anyway.
hey guys
so here is the problem. when connect the nexus 7 2013 wifi to windows 7, the drivers are installed and the tablet connects to the PC without a problem. but when i go to android SDK and install the Google usb drivers through there, in my device manager it recognizes my nexus 7 as "samsung phone" and my nexus doesnt connect to the PC untill I uninstall those newly installed drivers.
what am i to do? should i go on? should i trust the drivers that are automatically installed after i connect my tablet to PC? what should i do?
thanks in advance
Hello guys,
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and I got the surprise that my computer doesn´t recognize my HTC ONE M8.
I installed HTC Sync for get the lastest drivers but it didn´t help. On Windows I go to device manager and it seems it recognize an "Android device" but with a little exclamation that says that there is no drivers for this device.
Anybody had the same problem? How did you fix it?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english.
Regards.
Did you also have this problem on Windows 8.1?
I had the same driver issue when I was running Win 8.1 Pro. I couldn't get the phone to be recognized.
What I ended up doing is downgrade (or should I say upgrade?) to windows 7. All is well now.
If you keep windows 10, you may have to wait until HTC updates their drivers for the new OS. I'm not familiar with any other solution at the moment.

Actually I installed on my new computer Windows 8.1 Pro edition and I think I´ve never connected my phone to this computer so I cannot tell you if it was working on Windows 8.1.
I think I´ll wait until other pal put a solution.
Thanks
It works with 8.1, but connection can be really sketchy. Connects and disconnects rapidly, but eventually connects.

Mine works fine in Win10. Are you an admin or regular user?
Same here, no issues at all on a clean win10 install
No issues here with windows 10, 64bit.
Upgraded from windows 7.

Admin user.
Did you do a clean install or just upgraded from a previous version?
Did you install HTC Sync for get the drivers or you installed from other site?
I may have had HTC Sync on before - don't recall. This copy of Win10 was an upgrade install from Windows 7.

Follow that link, and download the file
1. Disable Windows driver signature (option 7 from advanced options)
2. Connect phone to PC
3. Go to device manager, you can find it through cmd prompt or cortana
4. Once in device manager, locate anything that says android usb or something like that ( I cant remember)
5. Update the device driver by looking through your computer for the location of ^ above download zip
I have no tried this yet, but I dont see why it wont work...PM me if you have questions
Edit:
I just did all of what I described above, and TBH I'm not sure if it would work or not. I do not currently have ADB SDK installed on my laptop, but I have found what appears to be a sound-proof method. Im going to assume the reason you want that connection is because you plan on using adb ? Anyhow, here's the link:
http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/index.php?/topic/1362-how-to-adb-fastboot-in-windows-xp-7-81-10/
In the second post of the link ^, it has been shown to work with HTC devices, hope this helps: let us know & I can dig deeper...
