[help] ZE551ML crashes, TWRP freezes, no connection in xfstk downloader - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I'm stuck in different guides on what to do next.
Problem: Zenfone2 doesn't boot most of the times (either looping after the white ASUS screen) or rebooting during loading of CM13.
Also had charging problem, so I unplugged the battery from the back and put it back. This seemed to solve the charging problem. But problems above still persist. Thinking it may have corrupted some memory.
Tried:
- Factory reset in TWRP -> didn't work (the occasion I did get into CM13 it showed the setup again, so the reset actually went through, but loops still exist).
- When in CM13, after letting the phone sleep for a bit (2 mins roughly) - it doesn't wake up from power button. Have to press long and boot again.
- When in TWRP, after pressing randomly some buttons and go back to mainscreen, the touchscreen stops responding too and reboots
- Since TWRP seems so unstable, I wanted to reflash everything using the Unbrick guide via PC.
-> Problem: Cannot get XFSTK to detect the device (Windows says: USB device not recognized or something like that).
- Another problem: When the USB cable is inserted into the device, it sometimes looks like the power+vol up combination doesn't do anything when booting (either the screen stays black or it tries to boot into CM13 and fail.
So now im a bit stuck on what to try next to solve everything and get myself back into CM13. CM13 has ran since Feb '16 and have been a happy user since then until now.
Thanks for reading!

The simplest solution may be to flash back to stock and start over. If the phone doesn't behave properly on a stock ROM, there could be a hardware problem.

Hi there , in TWRP select reboot then power off .
Enter bootloader via buttons after 10 seconds being off !
Enter bootloader - power and vol + , when in bootloader if on LP -- flash raw with AFT (asus flash tool )
If any probs with above , you might have to fastboot flash stock recovery and boot to recovery if/and a , try raw if on LP with AFT or b, sideload stock firmware you flashed stock recovery for.

Thank you for your answers! Last hours been trying to flash the stock ROM back. However, when getting into bootloader, adb devices and fastboot devices don't show the device. Or it even freezes and gets into reboot loops again. So this is why I'm stuck, nothing seems to be working from all the guides and things I'm reading.
So precisely:
- Power off bootlooping device by holding power button
- Power on by holding PWR + VOL UP
- When vibrating: release PWR keep holding VOL UP
- Now i'm in bootloader?
- Connect USB cable to computer
- type adb devices, shows nothing.
So what can I try to make connection?

- Now i'm in bootloader?

What ifwi version number in bootloader ?

The bootloader in shows the following:
IFWI version: 0094.0173
SERIAL_NUMBER = F8AZFG0152** (couldn't read the last 2 digits as the device rebooted again). Also sometimes the SN shows 012345689ABCDEF.
I've much trouble keeping the device in bootloader. Last tryings it keeps shutting down after couple of seconds in the menu.
EDIT:
So far the device seems to stay in bootloader mode now. I can cycle through the options normal boot, recovery etc. Below the screen it shows Continue the fastboot process in blue text. I've inserted the USB cable but have been unable to get "fastboot devices" to show any device. ASUS Flashtool also doesn't do anything.
I'm going to try to find a micro SD adapter so I can try flashing stock rom in TWRP from the phone itself (would that be something that could work or is this phone fubar?)

@j4y_ha
Do not attempt to flash stock rom in TWRP ! You will brick !
Flash a custom rom in TWRP only- not one with a mm bl version
You have LP
PLEASE
Follow my first reply to you

I have MM not LP.
I don't understand your reply correctly I think so here is what I think you say?:
I should obtain LP rom for ZE551ML
Next, enter bootloader via buttons PWR & VOL UP after 10 seconds being off !
When in the bootloader, - power and vol + (short press or long?) , when in bootloader ->
I connect USB to computer, flash the file using AFT if I make connection. -- flash raw (raw = LP ROM from ASUS) with AFT (asus flash tool )
Thanks again for your help

When in bootloader you are on LP -- flash raw with AFT (asus flash tool )

@timbernot I'm unable to make connection. Fastboot also most of the times freezes and goes to black screen. What could I possibly try now?
Sorry I thought CM13 was MM but then I'm on LP still haha :good:

I'm taking wild guess here that you got wrong TWRP recovery installed somehow or something from M causing all these problems , when you get into bootloader again..Scroll to and select reboot bootloader and fastboot flash stock recovery for LP version you was on .
Then , I guess your problems will be over , where you will be able to flash raw in bootloader or in stock recovery , adb side load the firmware

Thanks for your quick anwer. Will try to get through it haha :good:

that's not a problem.. THAT's like 20 different problems... I bricked the living crap out of my zen the day I bought it (because me = smartypants did not know that the MM boot unlocker is nonexistent so I just tried to root and update from my head using older techniques) and... the XTS tool thingy fixed it..
Don't get me wrong, i want to help but this is the problem that I feel little frustrated with..
Zenfone2 doesn't boot most of the times (either looping after the white ASUS screen) or rebooting during loading of CM13. ## (but it boots sometimes and goes into TWRP, so you have an easy fix to just revert to stock lollipop... why haven't you done that? You sound like you know what most of this stuff does...
Charging problem, so I unplugged the battery from the back and put it back. This seemed to solve the charging problem. But problems above still persist. Thinking it may have corrupted some memory.
## how do you connect this battery issue to your occasional bootloop? Check hardware or firmware and definitely use different threads.. there's no way these are all part of the "same problem"...
When in TWRP, after pressing randomly some buttons and go back to mainscreen, the touchscreen stops responding too and reboots
## Same answer as above - this is unrelated to #2 and unrelated to #1 - is your TWRP the correct one? I mean... did you just maybe flash TWRP version 4000 Modified Alpha for Google Glass??? LOL
When in CM13, after letting the phone sleep for a bit (2 mins roughly) - it doesn't wake up from power button. Have to press long and boot again.
## Is D2W there? "DoubleTap2Wake" ? Are you sure you have a good touch? (this maybe 20% sounds related to your TWRP touch going crazy..)
Cannot get XFSTK to detect the device (Windows says: USB device not recognized or something like that).
## There's this awesome invention called DRIVERS... and we're lucky in this case (cuz I bricked an hour after I bought it) because Intel PC + Intel Phone = Yay... There is even.... a very specific "INTEL ASUS WINDOWS DRIVER" file... from the INTEL AND ASUS WEBSITE... or maybe your USB CABLE is f**? My point is... another unrelated issue where it sounds like you've not even tried it properly before complaining.. I like helping people. I don't like when people refuse to try or they skip the actual study-notes to do it... I used the EXACT same guide to unbrick and it worked in 2 mins... I'm on a 2007 Laptop which overheats if I use 4 tabs... how am I able to follow the exact same guide on a brand new "FULLY BRICKED" phone... it literally would vibrate after trying power button for 5 mins and be stuck in a "blank black screen" for hours and hours... No twrp no nothing.. and I did it - why didn't you? Same guide man...
When the USB cable is inserted into the device, it sometimes looks like the power+vol up combination doesn't do anything when booting (either the screen stays black or it tries to boot into CM13 and fail.)
## Try again. Sometimes people accidentally hit power to early.. or whatever.. It's not a MK2 Fatality.. don't force yourself to get it exact.. Let the menu pop up... just wait a second and scroll up/down just to see if that works... then scroll to Boot-Recov and gently hit power+vUp.. should be fine.. otherwise just .. literally try 10 times.. it WILL work.
Since TWRP seems so unstable, I wanted to reflash everything using the Unbrick guide via PC
## Nope.. TWRP is like Bret Hart. It isn't unstable. Not for LP not MM not for N. Not for Stock Not for CM Not for AOSP. You *wanted* to do what you should have done right at the beginning but you didn't get that done properly (see below)
Essentially you have 8 different unrelated issues (and the biggest one is not reading guides, not trying hard enough and just thinking that people like me sit around and get paid for this)... and want ans in one place w/o just doing the simple thing of going back to everything stock...?? *it's just annoying cuz people who want to help will feel like.... others don't even try simply because we exist and have desire to help...* - I am not trying to offend you but I hope you get my pov.
Do This EXACTLY
#Buy a cable. Borrow a cable. Whatever you do be 1000000% sure the USB Cable is fine
#Install Intel Asus Android drivers from official EXE (google it... don't add new post for that link)
AND THEN
Follow the same Unbrick guide word for word *but* just pay close attention to these:-
IntelSeC Driver + device detected even if OFF (start>devman>showall>intelsec
In the official unbrick utility make sure you're on the second tab at the bottom
In settings check that your device flag is 0x08..... whatever instead of the default 0x000
Back in the *second tab at the bottom* (i don't remember exact name but it's in the guide) -- put the right files (mentioned in guide) in the right boxes.. (mentioned in guide) and remember you ONLY need the DVFWthingy... + TOKENthingy + IFWthingy
Plug the Zen in... hear the "da-dumm" sound... keep looking at the Unbrick tool.. and the moment you see Device Detected = 1 you hit install/start...
AFTER that is fully done *(and if you fail don't post just repeat from scratch)... I don't personally recommend Asus Flash tool it was acting dodgy for me but instead grab the RAW Stock... Rename it to zip.. open it and grab the img files and fastboot flash the fastboot droidboot.img + splashscreen splash.img + boot boot.img + recovery recovery.img
If you've followed all that from the guide and double checked what I've put up there.. you should be fine if you just fastboot reboot bootloader... and go into stock recovery... install zip/update and put your stock OS in there..
Done.
Just please take my advice and don't skim through guides, don't think you don't need to read something, don't click stuff without double checking every line from guide, print it out on PAPER if you need to.... but please don't post like this... and don't use different guides or you will be stuck (as your heading stated..)
Forget everything you knew. Close all other tabs and use this guide thoroughly for Reference:-

If anyone needs to unbrick , there is a thread in my signature below ,shows how to go from complete brick , to restoring serial number and into system within 15mins

Thank you for your thourough answer Ryankabir! Much appreciated. My answers are below. I will try your suggestions soon.

Yes I do know what I can do with it, but it just so complicating as there are different factors like the loops, not being able to get connections with USB. I mean, it is not totally bricked since sometimes I can get into TWRP or bootloader.

Well, since the phone worked fine before the battery issue, there is some sort of link between the issues I would think. Maybe I've broken some hardware during the battery removal or did the booting into charging mode and on/off continously corrupt some memory leaving me with weird crashes & loops.

No, D2W is not there. The phone is totally unresponsive to the power button as well as D2W. When in TWRP the touchscreen functions fine until it freezes at some random moment.

The phone does keep itself relatively stable in bootloader (don't know what fixed it) - I am able to cycle through normalboot, recovery options etc without it crashing. The bootloader shows "Continue the fastboot process". I have tried different drivers, while rebooting between install/uninstall of drivers.

Right m8 , we gonna fix your phone .
Do not stray from this guide.
Stick to it and you will be more the wiser when you have finished .
1 boot to boot loader ...scroll to 'power off ' and select it.
2 Connect your phone to wall charger ...let it charge till full.
When that's done , we ready for next step

Just a bit curious what the smileys in line 1 and 2 actually meant.. any hidden snarkasm these?
As for the LP stock BL he has.. after reading through the various (and really insane bugs)... I do not agree with your suggestion to explore all avenues to repair... - and my reasoning for that is... because he got stuck and paralleled different guides... i can understand the urge to have one full fix instead of going all from empty... but i'm basically thinking that if he has put in CM13 then that guide has one Unblock BL (via MMBL) - we can't be sure which one he used (downgrade to LP, unlock then upgrade etc)... + tinkering with TWRP again was it the same twrp thats with CM13.. no way to be certain
So essentially he could be fixing it al but we often totally overlook TX " RR... becausee his type has ben Mania

That's not sn ide btw

Well I'm not gonna dig too deep into the twrp touch issues (there could be conflicting drivers or even something weird i noticed in twrp302 anything below 20% batt (or if batstats corrupt) then the touch goes craycray.. so lets ignore that..
this thread is getting too heavy i won't have time - so - you can always backup ur data partition so no worries there.. nothing to lose..
one problem at a time.. as I said in first post my phone was bricked much worse i had mismatched fastdroidboot and bootimg and after pressing power on maybe 4-5 times.. it would only turn on once.. sometimes on and immediately off... sometimes on stuck on logo.. sometimes on and no logo but screen is black (corrupt splash)..
so lets just try to go baaaaaack to the futureeeeeee ... Ok I found the script I made (after 8 hours of trying EVERY combination from different guides I just took individual components and made my own.. ) -
I'm writing this in a hurry so please use my first reply to get the XFTS Ubrick Guide for the Files + get the LOLLIPOP One Click BL Unlock + Lollipop Raw image... Their Guide wants you to use Asus Flash but that program failed me every time... so I have got a differnt way to do it..
I'm copying this directly from my own script (so you can change if any paths/names different)... but do not change the order or sequence
Using OneClick (keep the unlock1234 files saved separately for later use)...
If you have these unlocked I just say do it again anyway - no harm...

[Q] Gnex Brick Mount Fastbood Write Fail help :'(

Hi everybody,
ok I will try to make this short
I have an experienced user level ROM, recovery, boot, ..
My phone is BRICKED! Is it?
AT THE MOMENT:
- I get into fastboot mode
- I get into odin downloading mode
- I can't start in recovery mode
- I can't start bootloader mode
- I have a connection with a laptop (win XP, as win8.1 didnt work for me)
- The computer can communicate with the phone in fastboot mode
- The computer cant communicate with the phone in Odin mode (at the moment Odin PC SoftWare doesn't recognize the phone)
- I am sure the drivers are installed correctly now. Thanks to the guide with fully stripped drivers.
- Using different, multiple different, no thousand different methods I tried flashing the stock OS (Yakju 4.3)
- I like SkipSoft Android ToolKit (Although I used fastboot and adb commands, I find the toolkit to do the same thing..)
- I always get an Error, when the process of flashing starts.
> PC says : Error
> Phone (in fastboot mode) says: FAILWrite Fail
INTERESTING:
- While I still was able to get into Recovery, the phone couldnt mount the sdcard (=> the internal drive)
- Some of the methods I use make the phone CRASH
> means the screen stops at its position and slowly turns completely purple
- The phone power button doesnt start the phone, to get the phone doing something at all I have to trick it:
..> I plug it into the wall charger
..> I take the battery out
..> I put the battery back in
..> I wait
..> I can get into 3 routines:
^Normal starting routine (of course stuck at google start up, since no Rom is installed)
^fastboot mode (VOL + & - & Power)
^odin mode (VOL - & Power)
..> Then I can just plug the USB cable into the PC
- 2 days ago I had (every single version) of Odin PC Software recognizing the phone (phone was in Odin mode), but it also failed after trying the recommended and unrecommended settings. Ended with an error message.
HOW:
I left my phone overnight in the car (Temp: -2 deg C), while Im sure spotify and maybe other consuming apps were playing.
Next day, my phone battery was empty and I couldnt start my normal ROM. (I had Slim Rom installed)
It was stuck at the "Google" start up display.
First intentions showed that it might be more than just the Software :/
Many days and so many hours of work, research and reading in forums, I decided to take a shot and ask here.
I appreciate everything xda-members have done for me already. Though I never needed to register for my earlier questions.
Phone data:
Product Name - tuna
Variant - maguro 16gb
HW version - 9
Bootloader Version - primemd04
baseband version -
carrier info - none
serial number - -a3c208 ***

BUMP!!! I have absolutely the same problem!! I can access everything, i enter the recovery trying to WIPE every single thing data, system, cache, storage etc.. but it seems it doesnt work. The information stays. I tried to "softbrick unroot & stock" with a nexus kit, everything seems ok, but after it finishes installing, it boots up on GOOGLE and after 10-15 min it starts to BOOT MY OLD CUSTOM ROM THAT I HAD BEFORE, after another 15-20 min it finally boots up and the system is EXTREMELY choppy and unresponsive and after a few minutes it restarts itself. I tried ODIN and I faced the same problem, it goes well to ~45% and then it freezes, and after a short delay odin gives FAILED. I tried several more things that i found on the internet and xda but nothing helps. Probably a corrupted partition or something. THE DAMN STORAGE DOESNT WANT TO DELETE ITSELF FFS!! PLEASE IF YOU KNOW ANY FIX/ALREADY FIXED YOURS PLEASE HELP!!! I need my phone!
can you give us more information about the error message?

Similar, only difference is with fastboot i can successfully flash system.img but nothing happens. With odin it fails at around 45% and then freezes. Only difference is that i cannot boot to old stock and i dont have this pulpish problem. I simply reboot on my old custom ROM configuration with all my last known icons widgets.. but the phone is choppy and unresponsive as hell.
I only get an error without any further message after flashing any of the images...
Any idea anyone? Isn't it some hardware issue?
Noo man i dont think its hardware problem, for me it all happened when my phone suddenly restarted itself and after that it bootloops forever and i have those problems
Anyone?
does erase work?
yes
can you get into recovery?

how do you know that erase works, I mean that what you erased has really been erased?
One of the erase command in the toolkit was succesful, I guess. But I will recheck every error or successful message later tonight.
still NOT working
2 months have passed and I was too busy with other things.
now back to it. the problem hasnt changed.
i try fastboot flash command:
[fastboot flash bootloader x.img]
- in Computer Terminal: 'FAILED(remote:Write Fail) '
- on phone: ' FASTBOOT STATUS - FAILWriteFail '
any idea, please?

Stuck in Fastboot boot loop after OTA update -- HELP!

So I just got an LG G pad 10.1 VK700 from Verizon the other day. I rooted the device on the first day but never really added any additional apps or software.
Another member in the household was using the tablet and it asked if they wanted to accept the VZW Update for KitKat 5.0. They downloaded the update, and now the tablet is stuck in a bootloop at the Fastboot screen.
There are only 3 options I can select from this screen in the top left using the volume keys: RESTART, RESTART BOOTLOADER & POWER OFF. Any time I select either of the restart options, the screen just goes blank and hangs. I have to manually power off, and upon turning back on I am right back to this limited Fastboot menu.
Bottom left reads:
FASTBOOT MODE
PRODUCT_NAME - E9LTE_VZW
VARIANT - e9lte_vzw Toshiba 16GB
HW VERSION - rev_10
BOOTLOADER VERSION - N/A
BASEBAND VERSION - N/A
CARRIER INFO - N/A
SERIAL NUMBER - VZ7005xxxxxxx
SECURE BOOT - disabled
LOCK STATE - locked
I booted into Recovery mode, but any of the options I select from the System recovery menu send me right back to the Fastboot screen.
Is there anything to be done at this point?
UPDATE: Problem solved. Research into the other variants of the LG G Pad lead me to the the LG Mobile Support Tool, which you can find by googling B2CAppSetup.exe.
Now, if you are stuck in a Fastboot loop as I was, I ended up having to restart the device while holding down the Power + Volume UP & DOWN. This brought up a screen displaying a bar code and the device MSN and IMEI number. Using this number return to the LG Mobile Support tool and select Options>Upgrade Recovery. Even if your device is already plugged in via USB, the software will not recognize the device -- you may want to double check to make sure your device drivers were installed prior to this step. Input your IMEI number into the box and restart the device in to download mode. It took a few attempts due to the quick action of Fastboot, but I was finally able to access the menu while USB was plugged in to the device and restarting while holding the Volume + key. Now you can continue with the installation and you will be back into your tablet in no time.
I have access to the device via usb / fastboot, adb is not registering. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can try, please let me know. I do not have a backup or a version of the OEM ROM. Every effort so far just sends me right back to the Fastboot screen with 3 options. Anything I can run from command prompt using fastboot alone that would help in this situation? Any way to do a factory restore without having an actual OEM image?
Well im stuck at the verizon screen too but for a different reason

Hello I have the exact same model I got 28th my g4 and successfully rooted with kingroot and used supersume to change it to supersu. Everything was perfect and running fine and I tried an entropy engine I use on my other rooted phone and it was not help so I disabled it and rebooted like I have with my other one before and it stuck at that horrible red screen lol. I haven't done anything else major to alter anything to do with the OS like installing an OTA and I can only get to the same screens as you. My problem is I don't have a PC and haven't in a very long time and if I get to one I wouldn't know where to start out, last computer I owned has a floppy disk lol but I don't see how I would need to re flash the entire OS because of an entropy engine hickup. If you or anyone know of a way to slap this thing back to reality I would highly appreciate it. I got very familiar with the android os and how it works but never had a PC to go beyond a basic root so technically I'm still a noob in a way. I only care to expand dual window to other apps if I get it fixed cuz I'm not gonna risk screwing with it any more now than I have to, my luck is too bad lol thanks in advance

If you are stuck in this particular Fastboot loop without a computer I am afraid your options are going to be very limited. The only thing I can imagine that you would be able to try is restarting the tablet while holding down the Power + Volume Down keys to access the stock System recovery menu. You can try to use Factory data reset and Wipe cache to see if that can resolve the issue, but for me every attempt to perform actions from this menu brought me right back to the Fastboot screen. The only other way I could communicate to the device in this scenario was using command line, and even then I could only access fastboot and not abd.
I would highly advise getting at least a cheap older laptop with Windows if you plan on rooting any device, otherwise the dangers will far outweigh the benefits. I'm just hoping some development comes along for the VK700 G Pad 10.1, at least a TWRP or CWM release.

Thanks for your response, I have unfortunately tried that too and wipe cache, reset , all back to fastboot. I figured it would be impossible without a pc. Oh yea my stock recovery says modified in the top left corner, but anyway I can get access to a PC But honestly it's been awhile since I even needed to use one and don't know exactly where to start, like navigating around, and how to install what software on the pc. I can't find anyone that will walk me through it locally or online and every tutorial I find is missing some lil step I need. I know Android in detail but after basic root my experience hits a brick wall. I'm capable of more jus got to get broke in on a pc again. Now I only care to root for stuff like freezing apps, gesture control, and really want to use any app in dual window. Ain't screwing with any system tweaks again it was pointless lol I guess I need all the right files and hit up the pc...can't really do worse no??

Oh yea I almost forgot I got side tracked earlier. I know there is already a twrp, I have 2 versions (2.8...something and the next version strait off twrp site. I was the one guy it wouldn't flash through flashify for but others claimed it did. God knows really, but I'm gonna wait till I have a PC of my own before I touch my g4 but man the ability to open any app in dual window is just too damn sweet...if I could only change that one word on build prop to false without all the other hassle

I tried following your recommendation, but the LGMobile Support Tool said the device wasn't plugged in no matter which combination of buttons I pushed while running the Upgrade Recovery option, and I wasn't able to figure out how to get to download mode either.

If your problem is from an OTA failing due to taking it while modded and you can get to fastboot the following command might fix it:
Code:
fastboot erase cache
That will delete the OTA zip and break the bootloop.

Boot loop after OTA upgrade

Hi everyone, today my Elephone p8000 with stock rom (no root nor recovery installed) proposed me an OTA update, and I did it.
After installing the update the phone is stuck at the boot animation logo. If I boot in factory mode (volume down + power button) I am presented with a bunch of options in Chinese, which I don't understand. If I go in recovery mode (volume down + power button) it says "no command".
What can I do? What are my options? Is it bricked?
Yup mine too. Mine has root, with no custom recovery. Get the same boot loop and the sad open Android 'no command'.
Haven't had a chance to dig around for a solution but I suspect it is a case of using the flash tool to wipe and load a standard ROM? Hopefully an easier way.

Damn. I had huge problems with the flash tool in the past (I don't have a Windows PC) and the idea of spending the weekend trying to get the damn thing work is not a fun one.
Got this issue too this morning on way to work, I guess my phones useless today until I get home to try and flash it.
seem to be able to get to the boot select screen but nothing is different anyway, also managed to get into a "PCBA" mode that did a load of tests to the phone but thats it.
it now just died, not powering on, think its bricked :crying:

Probably just out of power. Try charging it for a while and/or download and flash entire rom using sp flash except for data-partition so as you don't lose your data.

I just had the same problem. Did you solved it?
Like, exactly the same... Crazy
Another one
My p8000 also in bootloop after ota update. Only have an old vista PC w8ll dust it off tonight and see what happens
mines doing the same i thought it was too good to be true and it was lol
Cannot get pc (win 10) to install all the drivers, PC cannot see the phone so unable to run flash tool.
Suggestions? I presume the ROM cannot be flashed through the recovery (standard)?
EDIT: Driver package installed by disabling 'driver verification' setting in Windows. Phone only recognised as a MTP USB Device in devide manager, and flash tool does not seem to want to do anything. Might try this on a Win 7 laptop tomorrow. HJow you guys getting on with this?

So. This is what worked for me. Win 10. P8000 bootloop.
1) put p8000 into recovery, chose 'power off'. (I couldn't seem to stop it rebooting using the power button)
2) installed driver pack by disabling the Windows install signed drivers only setting. Rebooted. This turns the setting back on, but the drivers have alrwady been installed, no issue with that.
3) installed the flash tool. Brief panic at Chinese chars, located English. Calmed down.
4) loaded flash tool, with ROM ready to go.
5) this is the biggie, this is what brought it all together.........connected the powered down p8000 via USB and IMMEDIATELY hit the download button in the flash tool - ie BEFORE a new instance of USB bing-bong-device-connected sound.
6) once all downloaded, disconnect phone, reboot. Took an extended time (few mins) to boot, enough time to almost start swearing under my breath, but it just needed some patience.
Now, what I spent some time unsuccessfully trying to fix - needlessly as it turns out - was what my phone appeared under 'Device Manager'. It still lists it as an MTP USB Device under the 'Portable Devices' submenu. It did not seem to matter, as long as all the driver were installed.
I wish you all the best of luck in solving your issues, hopefully some of what I wrote can be helpful.

I have the same boot loop after ota. I did no backup before, so data partition contains my apps right ?
I never used the flash tool , where should I start , any good link for beginners ?
I read some things about the flash options months ago, must I disable/uncheck some options ?
Thanks for help.
same issue
Hi everyone!
I've got the same issue: I allowed the OTA update to 20151105 firmware release from previous version (20150725), after the upgrade, the phone keeps in a bootloop with a new colored Elephone logo.
I can't find a valid set of drivers, I tried a lot over the night, but windows don't recognize the phone.
PLEASE some kind soul could link a valid driver package to use SP tool ?
thanks a lot in advance!

pretty much did the same thing and it worked!! Cheers!! (also had the rage and it took ages to find english on the tool lol  )
when you get the android with the "no command" message, let go of the volume and power buttons. Then hold the POWER BUTTON for 1-2 seconds and TAP VOLUME UP while still holding the power button. this will open the recovery options
omg!!
disabling the Windows install signed drivers only setting!!
i thought we wouldnt have to do things like this since Windows 95
Lol
Worked for me
Had I only found this tutorial before yesterday... it took me hours to figure this out.
I can, however, now confirm this works.
Regarding point 5):
(i) Power down phone (ii) start flash tool/go to download tab (iii) select scatter file (iv) hit "download" with no phone attached (v) attach the powered down phone
...and things will be fine. Doing anything fast is not required.
The point is to install SP_Drivers_v2.0 first, as described here. After this, everything goes smooth.

Hi all,
Thanks a lot for posting a solution to this problem so quickly. I am affected by the same issue. Looking to buy some LSD to better enjoy the psychtrip my phone seems to be stuck in. Also looking to fix the phone.
Unfortunately, I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I did find a guide to use the flash tool on Ubuntu, but my phone does not seem to connect. I'm guessing this has something to do with that pack of drivers 2.0, for which I have no equivalent. I would really appreciate any ideas!
I might end up returning my phone to Amazon, though. It's only been a few days since I've had it, and you can imagine that although I was really liking it, I'm beginning to change my mind.
Your advice?
EDIT: I am getting the following error message:
BROM ERROR: S_COM_PORT_OPEN_FAIL (1013)
[COM]: Failed to open COM port.
[HINT]:
I did some googling, but didn't find anything worth mentioning.

Ahh good stuff. Connect phone last after hitting download - thanks for the heads up. Got my wife's p8000 today so will be doing some flashing later.
Cheers!

Solution for Hard Bricked LG G4 (9008)

Hi guys,
Some people including me faced Hard brick issue with LG G4, which has now two solutions. the first is temporary, i discovered it and it involves using an SD card flashed with Original EMMC dump ( i tested it with H815 ands H811) , the second needs advanced hardware, equipment and soldering skills ( JTAG) .
The solution that i want to explore is trying to revive the phone with the SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/unbrick-lg-g4-h811-9008-qualcomm-t3456417
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/unbrick-lg-g4-h815-9008-qualcomm-t3452853
The H811 dump that i made has TWRP recovery and unlocked bootlloader, so if someone know how to help that would be awesome.
How ???, its very simple. I dont have very good UNIX architecture skills , but if the SoC successfully booted from the SD card. We could see if it detects the EMMC memory ( with parted or with LS command). I personally Tried to brow /dev/block directory from TWRP i hoped to find MMCBLK1 or something but that was unsuccessful , im pretty sure the TWRP or the Soc Does not mount it automatically .
I really dont know How , but i'm very Sure that there is a Solution headed that way , So if some one is Good with Unix architecture and can find a way to soft Flash the EMMC from TWRP ( installed in the SD card ) it would be very Nice
hi,i tried the sd card method...it boots but immediately gives me secure boot error (1006).
i have an h815 bl locked

You can fix fastboot mode with this way.
1. First you need to download stock rom that your phone supported. extract laf.img file from rom and copy it into fastboot directory
2. download LG Flash Tool and make it ready
3. open flash tool and load firmware and dll that support your model.
open command prompt and make sure you in fastboot directory where the fastboot and related files are stored.
Run following commands.
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase laf
fastboot flash laf laf.img
fastboot reboot

Hurry up, now you need to start flash with lg flash tool, if device does not start into download mode. remove battery and insert again, press and hold Vol Up btn and plug USB cable it will boot into download mode. and your device com port should be 41, if not change it in device manager. and start LG Flash tool to load stock rom. once it finish loading rom your device will start and will show you factory test 1, 2, or 3. if it stuck there more than 3-5 minutes. reboot your phone. now you will have welcome screen.

lol, when you see a screen with 0% and a usb connected image, that mean your battery dead
why not just try to charge your phone? or replace a battery?

Hello, well after what happened I thought the same and went to buy another battery and when they tried it did not work, I repeat, not fastboot, no logo, no recovery, only a small vibration without screen, it is not detected by the PC in any of its modes as dead, the detail is that this happened after restarting when I had flashed bootloader N, rom V30, magiistic, I gave it restart and it did not turn on again, so I discard that it is hardware .
I think the problem was that I flashed the bootloader with full aboot, that gave me hardbrick I was told in a forum in Spanish I leave the link I hope you help me thanks
https://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=1397519 use this method to unlock the bootloader
Hey MichaelCV
I have exactly the same problem with my LG G4 H815p. I was running [ROM][H815] H-ROM G4 NOUGAT [v29a] _ LG G4. The phone was up and running and last night I flashed the "LG-H815_29a_Modem_and_Bootloader.zip" to try resolve an issue I was having with the mobile data indicator not showing. I flashed the zip in TWRP, rebooted the phone and now it is bricked. I have exactly the same symptoms as you. Windows and FWUL does not see the phone, no matter what combination of keypressed etc that I try.
Lets hope we find a solution here for it.
Chris

Can you get it to stop at fastboot, and stop rebooting over and over? Like, when it first powers down (black screen), before it starts to come back up, hold power and volume down, and boot to the fastboot screen. It should stick. From there you can flash stock ROM.
You might need to only flash stock boot.img, but when that's happened to me, I flashed the whole thing

Get some info from youtube it seems this laptop fail to detect/install adb/fastboot driver,, then my Device go to charging mode and ended up bootloop instead of charging. (because if i let the phone itself, without connecting to Laptop. . .it's rock solid on Fastboot mode)
Still try to get other PC/Laptop, seems current available one has a messy Windows. . .
When i execute "fastboot devices" on cmd,, pop-out error api-crt-. . . .- l1.1.0.dll missing
Try installing vc_redist failed to execute MSU

So Sad, was stuck in the same situation tried 100 of methods but all in vain, in the end had to send my device to customer care center & received after 15 days without charges
I use to flash rom`s when i was younger phones and tablets and never had a brick, I am glad it`s out of my system, Anyway the 8pro works fine for me as a non-gamer as it seem to be very risky to flash.
Good luck getting your problem solved.

Greetings,
First thing I would do is grab the latest version of ADB/Fastboot, uninstall previous version and reinstall it on your Laptop as Admin, turn off your Anti-virus anti-spyware, optimization program or whatever app you may have running on your Laptop and which could prevent system modification, then run it as Admin. If during installation you are poped with installing more things like MS or google's libraries and such, install them.
You may also try to reboot your phone to fastboot while already being connected to computer which may prevent it to boot to the charging page.
If you manage to get fastboot stable enough when connected and if you have no done already, you may want to proceed with reading the [GUIDE][INFO][PSA] Redmi Note 8 Pro - Megathread + CFW and applying the anti-brick solution before flashing anything else like a recovery again.
Assuming you have not damaged anything else, to recovery from a Magisk installation failure you may only need to flash the boot.img from your exact same Stock image you were on.
If that does not suffice, flashing additionally system and userdata (all data will be lost) should fix it.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck!
PS: I am assuming your bootloader is unlocked right?
