The first hit on Amazon for "Anker lg g3 battery" turns up lg G4 batteries from Anker? I ordered them by mistake. Will they work in the G3?

Well my G3 arrived today, so I was able to try for myself and found the battery, while the same capacity and shape, is just a bit longer and will not fit. Just in case some one makes the same mistake I did.

When it comes time, I assume that the battery must be replaced at some level of LG service center. Any idea of cost or specifics?
Thanks very much.
hello guys
i need suggestions about buying a new phone. i recently had the galaxy note 3 and it was AMAZING!! the only downside was the display, i sold the note 3 fearing i would get a burn-in as all amoled screens have this issue, i decided that i will never buy any phone with amoled screen any time soon. the options available for me at the moment are the htc m8, lg g2 and g3, the problem with the m8 is that it lack some features that i think they are necessary such as camera and multitasking features. now we only have 2 options; the g2 and g3, the g2 lacks the micro sd and removable battery and has a cheap-looking backdoor while its has better battery life and better screen in my opinion, the g3 has a deal breaker problem, the heating, i saw alot of videos on youtube where the phone shuts itself when it becomes hotter, also the battery hungry screen leaves you poor battery life.
so what do you think guys? did lg solve the heating problem? also i want a phone that last a lot of time as i'm sick of changing my phone every year and that phone could the one i'm going to buy soon or the htc m9 when it comes out. every suggestion is welcomed and appreciated.
thanks all of you in advance .

Since you already listed all the upsides and downsides of the G2 and the G3, what do you want us to tell you?
My G3 gets really really warm while in use, even at a low brightness, but I never turned of because of that.
I own a G3 and afterwards I think the G2 would have been the better choice because of the battery life, but I own 3 batteries for the G3, so this is okay, too.
If you want a device that lasts a while, I'd go for the G3 because it has a replacable battery.
And wouldn't the OnePlus One be an option? Tomorrow you'll be able to buy it without needing an invite.
i actually forgot about the oneplus one, but it's a big phone and i really got tired of big phones, i think i will buy the lg g2 for now as it has the most comfortable size and maybe i will buy a gold back door for it in the future.
I have a G3. I'm thinking about buying the G4. Would you?
I had the G2 then the G3 and now the G4. I still think that the G2 was better from both the G3 and the G4. It was faster, had better battery, more features (ex. full landscape mode, even for the home screen). Don't make my mistake. Wait 2-3 months, maybe with a software update it will become a better phone. I thought that my G3 was getting hot but i can't put the G4 on my ear some times. It is definitely having overheating problem . Also the touchscreen is not registering every touch (it's a touch smartphone!!).
I would it's a beast no phone is perfect

I had a G3 as well, and recently got the G4. I like the G4 much better. Better performance, better camera, and it stays nice and cool in my hand (unlike the G3 that got really hot).
Have g2 and had g3. G4 is much better than both IMHO. Quicker, battery as good or better and amazing camera.

Can I rely on any non genuine batteries on ebay or should I be looking for an LG original? If so, where should I buy it from?
Thanks

Best option for any LG device. Got one for my phone last year. Still running great. Ordered one last week for my wife's mother's phone and upon testing the battery found it to be a dud. Had to start RMA and order another replacement. Ugh !!
If you get a charger dock with the battery both are 10 each.
ive bought 2 batteries from aliexperess that look identical to the oem one. they will all of a sudden just shut the phone (no matter what im doing. whatsapp/camera/internet/mail) down like if youd pull the battery out from the back and they will bootloop on restart. even at 40-60% charge. I bought a losoncoer white battery. that did it the first time this morning.
this is crap like the rest
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...20-battery-H990-F800-battery/32803487831.html
so I have 3 aftermarket batteries besides the original and all 3 are unreliable.
I need a good source for genuine lg batteries please

I bought this one and got it a few weeks ago:

Looks like OEM and so far it's OK. It appears to have the same capacity as the new OEM battery came with my LG V20. Time will tell...
Im pretty certain that's not genuine
My 2 batteries look like oem to T.
Genuine will come in an lg box.

I know you said genuine OEM but I tried this one on Amazon to replace my failing OEM one and it's been rock solid for about a month so far. Same exact specs as the OEM if you wanna give it a shot

im going straight to the importer here and getting it. I have 3 aftermarket batteries that all just shut down randomly like if you were to pull the battery out and then bootloops after that till charged to 100%.
lg did say that aftermarket batteries will bootloop. I didnt take it seriously and here it happens to me.
oem or bust. expensive but peace of mind.

Thanks. I don't have enough posts here yet to be able to share links. BTW, I just got my LG V20 too. I decided to quit chasing the current wave of annual flagships after my Nexus 6P became cumbersome due to its sealed battery dropping to about 775 mAh capacity. I reset the phone and the performance of the phone just seems slower too now (not sure why, but its hard to deny). I am more than frustrated with phones having non-user-replaceable batteries. V20 is the last high-spec phone to have such a thing. I hope that something changes in these trends before my V20 dies.

I just got one of these off of your mention in the other thread as well. After my G4 died earlier this week, I went straight for the V20 since I had it scoped out from the day it was announced. The removable battery has saved me a lot of potentially anxious moments, and LG throwing the charger in as a promo for the G4 was a great idea.
It's hard to say that I won't ever buy a phone without a removable battery because no new flagship phones have them anymore, but I'm probably going to ride out the V20 longer than any other phone I've ever had barring any unforeseen software problems. As the last flagship that's easy to physically work on and has removable everything, the V20 is going to be the third permanent addition to my "museum" (drawer of emergency phones) when it eventually becomes obsolete as a daily driver phone. Even then, it will probably still be a worthy mini-tablet, remote control, and media player with the Quad DAC.
