Cannot Post or Change Layout in CP with Classic XDA Layout - About xda-developers.com

Hi,
i have a problem with the classix XDA Layout on my "real accout" this is only a test account!
Since two weeks, i cannot post in forums, because ff and chrome means, the connection is not secure. After the post i have a blank screen like this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/newreply.php?do=postreply&t=3235935
(The screen is blank!)
Now i think it is the old xda layout which i prefer, so i want to change it in the user cp:
But the same problem....after confirm the change i have a blank screen....
So.. here with the test account i can post, send pm, no problems with the new layout. How can i change the in my "real" account??? :crying::crying::crying:
Thanks
Sorry for my bad english, but i am not a native......

I see you've solved this, since you've posted with your main account since posting this.
So I'm glad you've sorted it out. I'll be closing this thread and disabling this second account, since multiple accounts are not allowed on XDA. :good:

WARNING Mods!!! Accounts getting mixed up via opera mini !!!

Heads up!!
I just opened xda dev in opera mini and I am logged in as a user called dredd?????
not in the same country as this user!!?
I will log in on a desktop browser (firefox) now so i can see if this post is here!
Ive edited his sig just so i can verify that it is fully logged in as another user,
a severe security lapse by opera, or a known bug????
anybody come accross this before?
how bizarre!..
most odd!
i just logged out and closed opera mini and im still logged in as dredd when i reopened it?
cookies deleted and before i initially opened opera i had just hard reset?

If you are not dredd, what is your username suppose to be???
If you are able to access his account, why are you did you edit his sig and now you are posting from this other person's account? Wouldn't that be against the forum rules as far as gaining access to someone else's account, even if it was just an accident I sure wouldn't be going around posting under his account.

I was posting under his to verifyi actually had access.
dont come all high and mighty an go mentioning rules to me.
I was just warning ppl not abusing this fellows account.
this definately has nothing to do with opera unless you would have downloaded opera or a cooked rom from this forum that may have somehow contained his/her log in information.
the only other way this could have happened is an error with the forum servers
Opera Mini works via proxy servers, so its possible that their servers sent fex dredd's login state. Just another reason why proxy server browsers suck ass.

Consdering millions of people use Opera Mini, the chances of something like this is quite slim, it's possible I'm sure, but rare. Can a mod verifiy to see if he did indeed post via Opera Mini by verifying the IP address?
Hi
I am the REAL .dredd.
I also experienced the false login using opera mini so it happened not to only one member.
In the past few days I have been logged in accidentally under 3-4 members... today I was wondering seeing Ababrekar's notification for me...
fex:
It would have been nicer to give this warning to the forum under your account instead of mine.
still logs me in as dredd if i use opera mini
I've reported this post to the Site admin to have a look at.

Dave
Mostly the ip addresses you guys use are the same, if you're using a proxy that could be the problem. If at all possible could you try to eliminate the proxy?

Hi Flar!
The REAL .dredd. is here ))
As I mentioned I also experienced the problem but... in 3 different times I was logged in into 3 different accounts... pls do not ask which ones because I did not care... I only checked the new topics and new devs as always... as if I would have been logged with my own account.
Nevertheless the symptom is strange and should be solved.
I did not touch any settings in my connections and nor in opera mini settings... to tell the truth I do not know how to eliminate proxy in operamini... today morning I logged in without problems with operamini.
The only thing I am angry at is that other user made a forum entry (even a new topic) in the name of mine... abarekar gave me a notification due to this.
Thx
.dredd.
Problem solved:
I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS: You packaged an already synced mini!
The issue happened when I made an update to my rom. I cabbed up the all of the _s0 files after already setting up my mini. syncing it and everything.
It saved my settings.
HOW TO SOLVE:
delete all of the _s0 files and start from scratch. redownload opera mini (signed) and install. fix all of the security things. Take just the newest files ( you can use the explorer on your pc to arange as modified.) copy those for your package.
This version of opera mini has more files. including various skins.
Now the only problem is that you need to get rid of all the versions that have already been uploaded

Cant see why your angry mate I did nothing but inform the mods and site users of the issue.
I could have messed with your account or posted **** under your name which wouldve been fair reason for your anger.

I can see both sides. I also agree that it would tick me off if someone did it to my account. but at the same time i understand if i was on someones account i would do the same thing.
Hey Fex, at this point I do belive the words should enter your stream right now, "I DO understand why you are upset and I never meant to violate your account or sense of community. I understand that my attempt to exemplify the problem and not invalidate your security is at cause. Please understand that my intent was good and that in the future I will notify the community, devs and users from my own account."
Now since the solution has been found and fault can be handed out, the matter of violation of privacy is clearly in the hands of the developer who released the rom with his credentials inside of it.
Your internal fight now Fex is, "Was it ethical to knowingly log in to an account I knew was not mine." Thats all you dude, how would you teach a class full of children to handle the same scenario?
Good find on the problem, great find on the fix, awesome education given to all ROM devs and those who share images and data that touch our own personal data.
a quick fix to this, without deleting or reinstalling your Opera, would be clearing cookies. and for the account "dredd" to be suspended. at least till this thing clears off. This way, all users will not be able to use the "dredd" account, and be forced to relogin again, therefore eliminating the cookies.
my two cents. what you think?

[SOLVED] Strange forum issue.

Hi guys, I have a really annoying issue here on xda. I'm using the latest firefox and when I'm in my favorite subforum (desire S), I must refresh pages all the time.
Example: I'm on Desire S, I hit F5 and my page is up to date. If I move to Desire S - General (or Q&A, or Dev...), I've to hit F5 again, the page is no longer up to date and the last threads replies shown are not the latest.
Another example: I log out, clear cookies, cache, temporary files, restart firefox. Then, I log in and my browser redirect me on the same page but I'm not logged in. F5 again and I'm now logged.
I dont understand what happens and what I should do.
Written with bad english, hope you understand what I say.
edit:
Thanks guys for your advices, problem solved. It was due to one or more firefox addons.
Have the tried viewing the forums through a different browser? Because it sounds more like a browser fault than anything else.

Unable to Reply/Post Threads or Messages

Hey guys,
For the past few days, Ive been getting issues whenever I try to post threads/messages or reply to them. I tried both Quick Reply & Advanced Reply same story. Further tested with changing the theme from XDA 2013 - 1024 to XDA Classic and also tried switching browser from Chrome to IE10 and still same issue Basically, when I click submit, the loading of page seems to progress forever till the error message comes saying Server sent no reply data Its been bugging me for days and its annoying as hell
2 Points to note :
I might have issue posting to a specific thread for hours but I can post in other threads quite easily. After a while, I will be able to post again to the thread which I previously had issues.
I dont think I've made any changes my side and after trying 2 different browsers as well as different themes, I think its a problem on the Server itself
Hope the Site Devs can fix this soon Thanks in Advance and Keep up the Good Work
Cheers & Happy New Year

You sure its same issue?
Because you don't have 10 posts.. so you don't have permission to post in development section threads.. if you got problems in that section.. then its common.. if you got problems while replying in other section then contact mods.. see link in above posts .. I think its just 10 post rule you missed..
Now that you have 10.. you can post anywhere..

Hmmmm...this is strange. Apologies for no one having tried to help sooner. I'll see what we can do
Thanks for the albeit delayed feedback just in case it helps, I noticed that it depends in some way on the message content or the title. If I start a new page and retype (not copy paste) the same thing, it won't work sometimes changing the title helps and other times, the message itself... In the case of posts, if I can't post a certain message, copy pasting and then adding it via a quick edit works but if it doesn't, then same issue will show in normal reply.. I confirmed that its browser and platform independent and also, I didn't accidentally add any Unicode characters
Hope the above might give a clue what the issue is thanks in advance
Cheers
I have't heard this error reported elsewhere, it sounds like a network issue possibly.
Have you tried on another connection?
I considered the possibility but I'm mostly at college and only one ISP here plus it's not exactly reproducible so I couldn't find out about that if it's a network issue, any idea why it occurs ? I only see this issue on xda,ie, I can read posts and all, make different replies etc but specific messages won't work ( at sometimes and work fine later) and same issue with browsing in iPad so can't see why or how I'm getting this error and it's been bugging me for ages popping up for so long. Again, hope you have any advice
Thanks for the quick reply
Cheers
No issue here.
Sometimes loading seems to take a while but the pages are loading correctly
I've seen in the past weeks that sometimes this forum taking long before it load, maybe due to lot of traffics from readers...
Hopefully some issues from other user will be fixed!

Please bring back the previous login modality

Previously, you could login easily by entering your name and password right away in the bar at the very top. That was very convenient.
However, obviously this was considered too easy and convenient by some, so this was changed to make it more complicated and longwinded. A few days ago, an extra "Login" button was added to the top bar. To login, you're now forced to click on this stupid login button, and only then you can enter your login details.
What's more, now this login button is broken. Clicking it doesn't do anything anymore, it only redirects you to the main page. To login and write this post, I had to click on the "New Thread" button in this "About" forum and then use the login link in the upcoming message. That finally worked.
Please restore the previous convenient login modality, where you can login by entering name and password right in the top bar. The new way, being forced to click the stupid Login button first, is a real hassle and is starting to grate on my nerves

Until the error gets fixed, you can switch to a different theme, let's say, XDA 2013 Beta, and use its functioning login form to login, and then switch back to XDA 2015.
I took a look at the other themes - all of them (2013, 2010 and Classic) still have the name and password fields at the very top, as it should be. It has only been stupidly removed in the 2015 themes to make logging in a pain in the a$$.
I'm currently using 2015 Dark, because the other themes are hideous white eyecancer.

Whatever Its really poor that a forum with over 6 million registered users is not able to fix such elementary bugs in a couple of days. Someone should test the themes before they go online.

Hey, I'm not arguing with you - the issue I brought up actually has nothing to do with what you just said up there ^. Anyway, many people do test the themes extensively, and if there's a small bug here or there, the best thing to do is respectfully report it to the higher-ups, and then be quiet about it so you don't become a nuisance. Our admins (@MikeChannon, @svetius, @bitpushr) work hard every day to keep XDA running smoothly for all of us, and being impatient is a very bad way to thank them for their hard and excellent work.

There may be things that need refined but there was a reason that the extra step was put in place. Unfortunately a significant number of users were confusing the Log In and G+ Sign In buttons. Several users were entering their username and password then clicking the G+ Sign In button instead of the Log In Arrow that's part of the password box. This then caused them to get auto generated questions about associating their account with Google and confusion followed. We were having to deal with several users per day getting confused or unable to sign in under the previous system.

So if the pop up log in bar is no longer appearing for you, you need to give as much info as possible for us to replicate the problem. What browser are you using, have you tried turning off add-ins, does it do it on other browsers etc.

That may well be, but making logging in more of a pain and more complicated for everyone just because a few users were mistaking the G+ button for the forum login button is definitely a BAD IDEA. You really should consider other options to solve this issue, like moving the G+ button to a different location, where it can't be mistaken for the forum login button, e.g. moving it all the way to the left, and/or more clearly labeling the forum Login button, e.g. change the forum login button from ">" to "Login" and the "G+ Sign In" button to just "G+". Then no one would mistake the G+ button for the forum login button anymore.

My browser is Firefox 35.0.1. I haven't changed anything about my browser (i.e. no update to a newer version or any configuration changes), and I haven't changed anything about any of my add-ins either. The login button stopped working out of the blue and is only redirecting me to the front page anymore.
Something more I just noticed: Clicking on "[View]" next to "The Following User Says Thank You to MikeChannon For This Useful Post: " doesn't display the user(s) anymore, but instead redirects me to the homepage, just like clicking the login button does.

@svetius
Seems as if I ever want to report a error again, i will try to be more specific.
I'm very happy that you already have fixed all of the reported bugs.
For the last days I have not been able to use with "XDA 2015" designs:
Log in button (The new form did just not show up, so i had no chance to enter my nickname/pw - sometimes it worked once after plenty of tries / clear browser cache)
Notifications button ( By clicking it, i was redirected to "www.xda-developers.com/# )
Search forms (Just did not work)
I tried Opera, Chrome, Chromium and Firefox // Win 7 + Win 8.1 // 1680x1050; 1600x900; 1440x900)
This indicates that there is a Javascript problem in your browser as it is not loading properly. Do you have any extensions like NoScript installed?
If you are on Chrome can you type Ctrl+Shift+J to open the Javascript console and let us know if there are any error messages in there?
Thank you.

Yes I use "scriptblock" but xda is whitelisted. Problem seems to be fixed serversided after some days. I did not change any of my settings and everything works again since today.
Just tried it, and the Login button works again, making the name and password fields appear, so I could successfully login.
Now if you would PLEASE put the name and password fields back in the top bar again, as before, so you don't have to press the Login button to make them appear, I would be most grateful.

I don't think we're going to revert. Most XDA members stay logged in, and for those that aren't members, putting the login form behind a click helps with mistaken clicks, and keeps clutter to a minimum. Thanks again for your feedback.

England, Virgin Media and whatever we use at work, IE/Chrome..
No matter what I use from where, I always get the same issue. It's really annoying.

Maybe @MikeChannon or @svetius can take a look.

Hiya everybody,
Im having difficulty using the advanced edit option. I want to edit the title of one of my threads but when I click on the button I get a 502 Bad Gateway error.
I tried using XDA Labs but that failed as well.
Anybody else experiencing this?

Is it doing this on different PC browsers. Sounds like a browser issue BUT it might be something about the thread.
Can you link to the thread in question and just as a matter of interest does it do it on other threads of yours.... like this one?

It happens on Safari as well (sorry to swear like that..ahem..) however it looks like I've just been able to change this threads title so it could just be the individual thread after all.
The thread in question is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25621581
Thanks for any help you can offer.

A couple of years ago, or so.
I had a thread that I couldn't edit the title, so I just used the report post button, and asked that a Mod edit the title for me.
After the Mod edited the title, I was able to edit it myself again, don't remember if some reason why was found or not.

Ok, bit of a disaster here.
I tried to edit the title by adding a period "." at the end of the title.
That worked, however after saving it removed the graphics!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or at least the graphic links you see in the text editor are still there but all screwed up.
You may be able to add them back but it's going to be a pain... sorry.
I have seen this exact same corruption before and I've spoken to bitpushr about it a few times but he could never replicate the problem.
Quite a few people have this happen to them, my feeling is that it happens when the OP uses unusual fonts or characters and it may be too that copying in content to the post from other sources like MS Word etc., causes stray code to get in and corrupt the post. I strongly suspect that's why it was giving you the Gateway error to begin with.
It might be worth re creating the first post without using any copied in text or at least just plain text and formatting within the post... then deleting the existing post one.
This would need to be done very carefully as any accidental deletion of post #1 will delete the thread.
Another method might be to create a new thread, get post one just right and working, then we copy across all the posts from 2 onward to the new thread and delete the old thread.

Thank you for that, I'm trying the advanced edit now...and it seems to work. No gateway error!
Losing the image links isn't a problem - I have the whole thread saved as a TXT file anyway. I normally write the longer posts in Notepad++, I just find it easier. I used to access this site through IE at work and I noticed that the advanced edit messed up the image links there as well. But not if I used Chrome.
I guess I must have put an unusual code in there at some point over the years..hmm.. Oh well, a good excuse for a refresh!
I'll keep an eye on this and, if I have problems in the future, I'll bear your advice in mind. :highfive:
----update----
502 gateway error again when I try to update the post with new text and a new title. I'll try just updating the title for now. Maybe I need to rewrite the post that much sooner!
Wait...wait...nope, now it's working. Post updated finally! Thanks so much for all your help!

A good idea, I'll definitely remember that in the future.

Agh! good some progress at least.
So the idea of getting a Mod to slightly edit the title works then. Except:silly:, don't get me to do it as all the graphics go wrong (I use the WYSIWYG editor too.

The saga continues...
I thought I had this but it looks like I was wrong. Advanced edit works now. I did some trial and error and worked out that error was being caused by one of the mentions I had in there. It looks like I had too many and that's what was causing the gateway error.
But I still can't change the title. I put in a new title and, although I don't get any errors, the title doesn't actually change. It's still the way it was when you changed it.
While I'm trying to get this sorted out, could I please ask a favour? Could you possibly change the title to "[TOOL]Tickle My Android - Decompile & Deodex With Ease"? I normally have the version number in there but I'm beginning to suspect I may have to have a static title rather than one I keep changing...

Used Chrome as Firefox might have removed all the pics again

Thanks. The title's changed and the images are still there. I think I might leave it alone now. Don't want to tempt fate after all..
