Play Music + bluetooth - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. I have a 5x rooted with 7.1.1. I have just subscribed to google music. Is there a way to stop google music auto playing when connected to my car bluetooth. I use tunein radio most of the time but I have to disable the Google music app to allow tunein to play. This is inconvenient if I choose to use the Google app.
TIA

That really depends on your car's system I think. My VW doesn't automatically play yet my wife's Acura does.

Default BT player

I use my phone in my Car via BlueTooth, the player I use is Google Music since it automatically downloads my songs into the phone. My question is how can I make Google Music be my default BT player rather then the Music app that came with the LG Optimus G. Whenever I am in the car and there is a BT connection the default Music player is used rather then Google Music player.
Are you rooted and bootloader unlocked? If so uninstall it via titanium

[Q] HTC Connect question

Hi Folks,
Let me preface my saying I dont actually own the One X. I'm actually waiting for the HTC One to come out in the next few weeks to get that. I saw that both of these phones had HTC Connect DNLA feature with select Pioneer AV receivers.
My question is is HTC Connect compatible with Google Music player? Reason I am asking is because most of my music is not stored locally on my phone but rather in Google Play cloud and played through Google Music app. Can I still use Google Music and stream to my Pioneer receiver ?

yes of course I realize that I have Google Play Music on my current device. But what I'm referring to can be seen from the video below. You can skip ahead to about 45 seconds in.

"All you need to do is open your music player, play a song, and select menu and choose Pioneer receiver"
Is this ability there for the Google Music player?
i was wondering the same thing. I don't see it on the google player. OP or anyone else, if you've found a way to do this with google's stock player, we'd appreciate an update.

[Q] No metadata through bluetooth with Google Music

Has anyone gotten the phone to send metadata to their car through bluetooth when using Google Music? It seems to work with the default music app. Is there a way to fix this or work around?
Got the same problem with Spotify and Deezer, though the latter does a better job. When streaming Spotify qua Bluetooth to my car radio (original Volkswagen RCD -510) the radio display is just showing the first streamed track name, the following song's names aren't updated correctly...

Are you steaming the songs or are they downloaded into the phone already?

Streaming doesn't work with Pandora either. It works from time to time with Milk Music.
works fine for me in both of my late model cars, with Pandora and spotify, and google play music
Has anyone figured out a work around if any possible? Weird thing is that it does show meta data for that samsung demo song the phone comes with when it plays with the default music player.
I get both streaming and downloaded or copied music while using a Kenwood DDX 719 unit.
Pandora or Milk.
Also all my contacts while making or receiving calls.

Google Play Music Will Only Play Downloaded Playlists, Won't Stream

I've got a JY-UQ124 = RK3188 Quad Core, 16 GB Flash, 1024*600 Screen and have a rather odd problem. When on my home wifi, Google Play Music on my head unit behaves normally and allows me to see and play music via streaming (I have All Access) or playlists that I've downloaded. When I am tethered to my phone (Nexus 6P, T-Mobile), Google Play Music only allows me to play downloaded playlists and will no longer stream music. All radio stations/playlists that aren't downloaded are grayed out. Has anyone had that (really weird) issue? I'm in the USA with Google Play Music All Access.
I'm on a Nexus 6P w/ T-Mobile as well, and I don't have any problems streaming music via tethering.
Does your unit actually have an internet connection when tethered? IE, are you able to access websites via Chrome or Google play, etc? It sounds like for whatever reason your device isn't getting a web connection when tethered.
Update: I actually experienced this problem today. Head unit connected to the internet via tether (confirmed with web browser and other apps), but Google Play Music acting like it's in "Downloaded Only" mode and only allowing playback of cached songs. Reinstalling the Google Play Music app fixed the problem.
I had a similar issue on my head unit. Despite being connected via WiFi shared from my phone I had to turn off "Stream only on Wifi" for it to work.

Play Music issues on AW 2.0

Hi, i have a problem with Play Music app after AW 2.0 update. On 1.5 i was able to download music to my watch by selecting Play Music from watch and then "Play on wear" which showed all the albums i have on my phone or selecting Play Music from my phone and in the settings there was a Android wear section and there was "manage downloads" but neither is now available on 2.0 :/ So you can't download music to your watch anymore or is it changed and i just can't figure out how to do it now with 2.0? Please, can someone help me?
Btw, all my music are transferred by using PC from my original cd's to my phone so no albums bought from Google Play. Maybe after AW 2.0 update, downloading music to my watch only supports music bought straight from Google Play which would suck
I am very interested in this also since I use the smartwatch to listen to music directly from it with Bluetooth Headphones when I'm at the gym. If it doesn't work I won't be updating it.
Seriously guys, no one else uses Play Music to download some tracks to their Huawei Watch from phone? Why the hell it was changed in AW 2.0 since it worked so well on 1.5?

Yesterday I opened Play Music HW App.
Now it works really close to the one on the smartphone...
It is possible to stream music via wifi or to download music directly from your smartwatch. (wifi or bluetooth).
To download a song, a album or a Playlist you just need to press and hold for 1 second the icon of your selection .. .so the download will start..
I verified that if you are not charging your smartwatch it is possible that the download pauses...
This morning after charge I had the info on my smartwatch that all albums have been downloaded.. and they work without problems
It works differently now. Android Police summarized it:

Hi, searching for a solution I founded 2 options: if you use Google Play Music you have to create an account and suscribe for about 25 dollars/year and it works fine. Another option is to install Wear Media from the Play Store and it works like the old play music, you can download your music to your wacth, it also works fine. Wear Media also have the shuffle option!

Thanks for the tip!
Wear Media is an app you install both on the smartphone and on the watch? Is it free?
Cheers

Well, that's really stupid :/ I hope Google brings back the sideloading feature with later updates. I'm definitely not gonna subscribe to Play Music! I have over 200 original music cd's that i rip to my PC and then transfer to my smartphones.

Hi! Yes its free! Download it to your phone and it installs in your watch. Then in your phone you select what music you transfer to your watch.
At least there are such skilled devs that can fix what mighty Google frakked up..

That app dosent work properly, it transfers a couple of songs and then it stops saying "connection problem".
Is there a proper working alternative, please?
Cheers
