Kodi Closing when FireTV Sleeps - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I apologize if this not the correct forum for this post. I tried the Kodi.tv forums and no one seems to be having this issue.
I'm have a FireTV v1 running 5.2.1.1 (no updates since Aug). I am also running Kodi 16.1
Up until a few days ago, Kodi would always stay open even when the FireTV went to sleep. When I woke up the FireTV, Kodi was still open and updated with any new content.
Over the past few days (nothing changed as far as I am aware), when the FireTV sleeps, Kodi exits. I have to reopen Kodi and wait for it to load and sync. This is not a desirable behavior.
Any thoughts on why this may have happened and what I might do to remedy it?
Thanks

My first thought is don't let the box sleep.

mine does this as well. Its a gen 1 on the newest firmware, so jailbreaking isnt currently an option. I have two of these, and one doesnt have the behavior at all. Id really like to fix the one closing out of kodi.

After Rooting my AFTV 90% of Netflix Stops Working

I read a bunch of threads on people getting a white screen and some clearing it up by resetting application cache. I have also tried uninstalling and re installing netflix without any luck.
My ultimate goal is to just have XBMC as my launcher and bypass the amazon home screen as there's lots of content I don't want my kids getting into. Not to mention I like xbmc better. It seems root is required to do this following the guide on here.
I have competently reset my aftv to factory defaults twice and re-rooted with the exact same results. I am fairly new to rooting and modding android so I am not sure where to go.

What FireTV software version are you on? I have been rooted for a while now, on the very first (of three) updates and no issues. How is Netflix not working?
The only thing I can think of is when you have a video playing or paused in XBMC, Netflix and Hulu will crash or not display correctly. To fix this, I changed the keymap for the back button to stop. This is described in the FireTV XBMC wiki.

I was on the second software version until I turned on the tv yesterday, now the 3rd. I would get an error were having trouble playing this for 90% of things I tried to stream. It started right after rooting and went away as soon as I did a factory restore.

[Q] Fire TV navigation slows down then crashes on startup

Hi. I tried posting on another site but no one seemed to be experiencing the same issue. I recently switched from SPMC to 13.2. After just few days navigation became very slow but video played fine. It would keep getting slower despite clearing cache then it just wouldn't start--immediate crash.
I switched back to SPMC and still menu was slow, video perfect. But today it just wouldn't launch. After several reboots and clear cache from fire os menu I got it to work. It played a video with no problems, however, I know based on how navigation sticks its going to crash again. Problem is I can't force a crash. It only crashes on startup, making debugging impossible I think.
I'm basically using just genesis and a few program add-ons all from add-on installer. I've used aeon nox and ccm skins. They both do the same thing.
I'm thinking fresh start but there's little reason to think I won't end up back here.
The only other relevant piece of info (maybe) is I recently installed clockwork mod and installed rbox latest firmware. Then I updated the remote from there. It may have nothing to do with anything but without a log I don't know how else to explain it. Anyone else having similar problems? Any and all advice is welcomed. Thanks.

SMPC and official XBMC keeps throwing me back to menu.

I have just purchased a FireTV, and have sideloaded XBMC. Everything seems to work perfectly, however when I have a queue of TV shows for example, after an episode finishes I get like a kaleidoscope effect, then it boots me back to FTV home screen.
This happens on SMPC and XBMC directly from their site. Does anyone know any fixes?
I got something similar! When i watch a serie or a movie in xbmc after some time it stops! Then i have to open the movie/serie again. This keeps on repeating till the other day. I think it started when i used sdmaid. I am on the latest prerooted firmware. Network and Internet connection a fine.

[Q] Subtitles cause video playback stutter in kodi/xbmc

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. Sometimes when subtitles are enabled in kodi, the video very noticeably stutters on my AFTV. It doesn't happen all the time, but will happen eventually and once it does, it will stay like that until I restart the Fire TV OR sometimes only fix is to restart my Ubuntu file server.
I read over at the kodi forums that peeps on lower CPU boxes have this issue, but there was no solution and the post was from 2 years ago.
This happens to me on SPMC, Gotham and latest Helix. It's a fairly recent issue (last 2 months) as I never noticed it when I first got the AFTV back in July. I also tried both nfs and smb and fiddling with buffer and cache sizes.
It's either a server issue or an AFTV/kodi issue and I can't work out why and what to do. I'm running latest pre-rooted firmware.
Any others with this issue and any solutions?
Cheers
Well in case anyone else is experiencing this, I found a solution that works for me. SPMC 13.4.0 seems to be working flawlessly. The previous version was not. Hope that helps someone somewhere.

SPMC Isengard on Fire TV compatibility issues.

I just installed the new release of spmc 15 isengard and it is running very inconsistent. It often freezes on the homescreen and if I jump to the amazon home screen and then try to go back sometimes it will give me a blank grey screen and require either a force stop or a restart. Has anyone else tried this or even the standard version of kodi isengard as I think they are pretty close to the same thing at this point.
I've been running standard Kodi 15.0 with PlexBMC in the Amber skin for a week or so, so far no issues.

Did you install it and just do a fresh install or did you restore your previous setup? I think the problem happens when I restore my setup after a few freezes and restarts and everything is fully updated it seems to stop. It still gives me an issue launching the sacrificial app with llama however.
It was a fresh install, not a restore.
Yup, the oem version of Isengard is laggy on the box and stick...I had a flawless Kodi setup before I upgraded...
