Sorry about the apostrophe abuse in the title.
The RUUs I find are all saying they are corrupted. Either the exe or the zip.
My guess is they are trying to kill off old m8 devices specifically which have so many bugs and problems it's unbelieberble.
Anyone know why cant even put the OP6BIMG.zip over to the phone without putting it in a folder?

They are not corrupted but encrypted.
You have no reason to extract the RUU unless you're making custom ROM and there are few special tools to encrypt them.
Normal zip/rar/7-zip can't properly read encrypted zip.

No idea what you're talking about. 0P6BIMG.zip must be on root of microSD (not in any folder or in internal storage) to install it thru hboot.
Thats what I wanna do. So the removable microSD?

Yeah unfortunately now I got a different problem.
I just did this, and now I am stuck in the bootloader screen cause it says I have too large image update fail and wont power up no matter what buttons I press.see it always did sdcard check.
Any thoughts?
Remove the sdcard.
Too large image = wrong software version zip = wrong firmware version
S-On = only can install a htc signed zip and bootloader is locked or relocked
Good luck, gotta go now
Yeah thats the best Idea I've heard in ten minutes or so.

Hi, just a little background first....
I'm sure many of us have already tried out the RzRecovery, which was good, but, for me anyway, had a fatal flaw.......
and left a big legacy when I abandoned it.
The inability to successfully see Nandroid on External SD Card, even though Recovery says it made the backup there, after we choose /sdcard/external_sd as back-up path, and in Recovery it appears to be there, even you can erase it.
However, when you looked with File Manager, like Root Explorer, the Nandroid Backup, and associated folders is nowhere to be seen, as shown below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

}
Now, what you would expect to see there is this:
nandroid/GINGERBREAD.XXKK1-BDCSA-20120115-0052//boot.img/system.tar.gz/data.tar.gz/cache.tar.gz/secure.tar.gz
This is the structure of the nandroid under RzRecovery....a nandroid folder, with a sub-folder for each backup, which contains the files boot.img, system.tar.gz, etc, etc.
However, it must be there, you would think, coz RZRecovery can find it, and even use it to restore, and it can be erased, so where is this data on our devices???
I have discovered where exactly RZrecovery was storing this back-up data, but it is not where we expected to find it.
What I did was go to Storage in Settings, and Unmount SD card....thereby disabling the external storage (SD card).........
this is where RzRecovery was supposed to have put my back-up.....but guess what!!!!!!
Look at the Pic with external storage SD Card unmounted on my device:
Still got /sdcard/external_sd
Properties of /sdcard/external_sd showing 402 MB
/sdcard/external_sd showing nandroid folder
Showing GINGERBREAD..... Backup Folder
Finally, Folder showing Backup Files
Now, I stress, above caps were taken when External SD Card was unmounted, disabled.....
So, when I remount External SD Card, all above become invisible on your device, you will not see the nandroid folder.......
and you do not know where that 402 MB has gone!!!!!
I think this is a fundemental flaw in the RzRecovery, regarding the external SD card, and where it stores back-ups supposedly being saved on External SD.....
Instead they are being saved in a folder/directory, on the Internal Storage/SD....and are not visible when the actual External SD is mounted......
this folder has the same name as the name given to the External SD, but it is not the external SD.
Would anyone with more knowledge of Android file system, as it applies to our device, care to comment????
There has to be a way to distinguish between what is a folder, and what is an external SD drive????
Anyone at all have any comment....
I think this is important for anyone who made a Nandroid backup using RzRecovery and had the external SD card as the target for storage.......
they could possibly be missing 400MB of space.....and have a dodgy folder on their internal Storage.

I don't use RZRecovery, but in your case I would connect my phone as USB-Storage to the PC and search by size all the internal and external storage.
You can also search for nandroid.

Thanx for answering.
Like you, I no longer use RzR, but I did at first....and was puzzled by the disappearing nandroid on external SD. Which is why I posted my OP.
As for connecting to PC......
I already did that, as confirmation of my findings above.
The internal storage drive did indeed have the /external_sd folder, which had in it the complete nandroid, as described.
When external SD is mounted on your device, these contents cannot be seen, as what appears under the /sdcard/external_sd will be the actual contents of the external SD.
So, this phantom nandroid and it's contents is masked to the user.

So why is it that every android I have does this to my apps? Randomly they get "uninstalled" meaning the apps just don't work and don't show up and it says they're on my sd card but it won't let me move it back or forth. Also I have a class 10 16GB micro as card. Jmzonev Rom btw. Thanks guys

Happens to me toooo..... Just dont move them on sd card.... Let them on fone memory.... They will be f9.... Also, go to manage apps and open the app... Force stop it and reboot... It will be back with no data loss and move it to phone.... Dont kno the reason why this happens... Maybe, someone would be able to tell...

I kno... It happens with big apps only.....my dictionary and games are automatically store on sd.... It automatically move them to sd card.... No problem... Jst force stop them even if they r on sd card....
PS: the moment i shifted from sense to cm..... It rarely happens....
unmount your external storage from setting for a while, then remount it again...
it should fix the problem
Do you use Sandisk or anther sd card?

I've had this, sort of behaviour happen before, but it was because the flash memory was corrupting. You may have a bad SD card, it does happen. I push many of my apps to my SD card, so I can tell very quickly if the card is at fault.
You should back up your SD card, and reformat it in FAT32, as the filesystem itself may be malformed.
I've also heard that PNY has fallen lately in their quality, so you may want to try another SD card, if the above doesn't work.
My app of choice for keeping apps on my SD card is Link2SD: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwOSwiY29tLmJ1YWsuTGluazJTRCJd

Hello again XDA,
I picked up a friend's Galaxy SIII to root, and got to the place where you're supposed to transfer a solitary file to the SD card. However, when I try copying the file to either the phone or its SD card via a USB cable, it hangs for a minute here:

}
Then it fails out.
What the heck is this? It appears I can delete files (there was a renegade one) but that's all I really want to test, as this is not my phone.
I'm just thanking God there's a removable microSD card and I have a reader right now...

So the drivers are installed correctly? Meaning, the computer shows internal and external storage when connected. Have you tried copying a file such as a picture from the computer to the phone to see if it will transfer successfully?

Indeed the drivers are installed and working -- They were actually downloaded and installed from Samsung a few minutes before I noticed this problem. And indeed, I tried this on both internal and external storage with the very same result (it got stuck at the first image you see).
i would try a different cable,different usb port..make sure phone is in debug mode..reboot phone and pc and try again..those are the first things i would do if i was having that issue..also a workaround would be to take out the external card and insert it in the pc to transfer the file directly on it to bypass the phone for that process if you have to
i have tried several roms, sd fix apps, and have modified the platform.xml manually and gave permissions to the mnt folder.
Nothing lets me write to my 64gb card anymore.
I've tried formatting the card via phone and pc disk management and several format exFAT utilities.
Nothing works.
Is my sd card screwed?

Go in to system etc then platform and make sure it looks like this
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
yeah, i've done that. ever since i moved to a kitkat rom 6 months ago, i've only been able to read from it. Even when plugged into a sd card adapter in PC.
I don't know how my sd card got corrupt.
Sandisk brand?
yeah, is that bad?
I had that same issue and it is a simple fix, at least for me. I was embarrassed to know what it was. Anyways. On the SD card adapter you use to insert into the PC is a lock slide knob like mechanism. If you locked it then you will have your issues. Put it back in that adapter and slide it the other way. At least it worked for me after weeks of research.

If you try to format and it says successful but all your original files are still there, there's a good chance the card is corrupt. This happened to me recently. I was still able to read the files so I backed the card up and had it replaced through SanDisk warranty.
This tool saved my life on a 32 GB Card - not sure if it's relevant to the OP, but anything is worth a try after a certain point, you know? lol. The low level format using this tool took around 11 hours, significantly longer than the built-in windows format... it was an overnighter. I went from the card un-mounting anytime I tried to copy a file over (While I had borked my ROM and was trying to copy a new rom over to flash, of course!), to having no issues whatsoever. I really thought I was going to have to buy a new card but... HP Format tool to the rescue!
hey there xda peeps!
I know there are like a dozen of posts like this, but my problem seems to be slightly different from everyone else's.
when I insert the sd card into the phone, nothing happens, and the phone doesn't scan it. however, it seems to detect it, as I can still scan the sd card using sd insight.
when I go to settings>storage, the option to mount the sd card is available. however, when i click on it, a window pops up asking whether I would like to format the card or cancel the operation. if i click cancel, the window goes away, and I can click on the button once again. however, this causes the storage page to freeze, while displaying the notification"preparing external storage..." if i select format, it formats the card and...it goes back to square one, with it not being detected.
I have read other similar threads, all of which were resolved by pushing in the sd card slightly, formatting the cache from recovery mode and changing the card's storage system to fat32. I have tried all of them numerous times, but to no avail.
I am quite certain it is a software-based issue, as my other sd cards which I know to be readable could not be read as well.
my sd card is a sandisk ultra 32gb, while my phone is a zenfone 2 ze551ml. my phone's software version is in the attached picture.

Does the card work in another phone or on the PC? You might have a bung sd card which is not unheard of...
You could try another sd card in the phone, might be a warranty fixable problem (unless you have fooled around with it)...

yep, the sd card works in a pc. tried other sd cards, they don't read either. and I think my warranty just expired, but I left the phone completely stock.
What makes you think it's a software issue? If no card is working with just that phone, you could very well have a bad card slot.

it seems like a software issue to me due to the problem arising after a software update quite some time back. my phone was functioning all well for about a year or so before this problem popped up. sorry for the extremely late reply.
