I decided not to update to 3.2.8 after reading all the bad reviews. Now that 4.0.2 is out and reviews are not so bad, im going to update to 4.0.2. I'm on OxygenOS 3.2.7 and the official OTA update installer is showing the message " Rooted device detected,update may fail."
After reading some posts about OTA updates failing for rooted users and causing loops, I manually downloaded 4.0.2 from here

Can someone please tell how to proceed now. ( Device is rooted, twrp and xposed installed )
Can i flash the downloaded update from TWRP ? can someone please give steps to update.

just do a clean flash like any other rom. flash super su immediately after the rom without rebooting to get root access.

I think the safest method is the following :
1. Make a copy of the Internal memory contents so that you can recover it at the end.
2. Reboot Fastboot and flash stock recovery by adb.
3. Reboot recovery and make full wipes from stock recovery (factory reset, cache and internal memory). At this point, data partition will have change to f2fs format.
4. Put the full 4.0.2 rom inside adb folder, reboot to Fastboot and connect the device to the computer again.
5. Install the rom and when it finishs, reboot system. When the rom is showed in the screen, reboot to Fastboot again and install the last official TWRP by adb again.
6. Reboot recovery, connect it to the pc and copy Supersu to the internal memory.
7. Switch it off from the pc, install Supersu from recovery and reboot system.
8. Copy the saved contents to the internal SD.
That's all...

Why would you want to sideload the ROM and then perform a wipe to get f2fs, also with the stock recovery. It can be done via twrp itself and the ROM can be flashed normally via twrp.

I said this is the safest way to avoid the dm-verity message. Theoretically, what you propose is correct but it's not as safer. In fact, this forum is plenty of issues from people who tried to do it like you say.

No there are no issues with it apart from the DM verity splash screen. If you doing a clean install you should not have any issue and if DM verity is such a big deal you can also flash 3.2.8 or 3.5.5 forward to get rid of it.

Consider one Thing: There is no xposed available so far. That's why I stay with 3.2.8.

Which version of stock recovery do you use in this procedure? Since you make a full wipe before installing anything else to f2fs I assume, it must be the latest version. Do you have a download link to this for safety reasons? Tks a lot!

Dm-verity is a problem for many people. I won't need to go back to 3.2.8 rom again if previously I did it well so, in my modest opinion, it's much better to ensure that it doesn't happen. Anyway, you can do it whatever you like. It's not my business.

You don't actually have to go to 3.2.8 ROM. You just have to flash the firmware and modem. And DM verity is subjective there are many people myself included who don't find that extra splash screen an issue at all.

The safest place for that is the OnePlus site. You have to flash v2 which is the latest version. The OnePlus site will merely show you one link without indicating whether it is for v1 or v2. You can go ahead and download it as it is the v2.

I found 2 versions of the instruction about going back from custom ROM to stock OxygenOS. First one tells about ADB commands which results with full stock, with standard recovery, unrooted system and locked phone. The second one is shorter, it's just flashing official zip with TWRP.
So my question is: Am I "losing something" after going with the second option, I mean TWRP-way? As I understand the only difference is that I'll keep TWRP itself and my phone will still be unlocked, when everything else will be ok (official camera firmware, kernel, etc.).

The official zips in most cases also erase your twrp recovery and you will end up with the stock recovery and unlocked bootloader
I'm also thinking about going back to Oxygenos. But haven't done it. Looking for answers for you question.

It's like flashing any other Rom? You clean flash by wiping everything (except Internal) and flash the OxygenOS you want (plus SuperUser).
Heres what you gonna do
Download oos full zip
Flash it on twrp then after that dont do a reboot just flash twrp as recovery then reboot to recovery and then reboot to system
If you wanna lock the bootloader and stay fully stock ( this will wipe your whole phone so backup )
Then flash oos full zip through twrp then reboot to bootloader
Then sideload oos recovery
Then go back to bootloader and relock bootloader thats it

I clean flashed the full zip. When I try to boot to bootloader, it didn't enter bootloader mode. The system boots, and it's been showing boot animation for more than ten minutes. I'll wait patiently.
BTW, how do you flash twrp while you are in twrp?

What i did was
Flashed the full zip
Before rebooting flashed twrp.img through twrp
Then reboot to twrp abd reboot to system i do it every time

When your on twrp go to install then to the right corner youll see a tab named flash img clikc that and browse to your twrp flash it then it will ask system , recovery or bootloader click recovery then flash when it finished reboot to recovery
I hope you understand if not just google it

Try holding power button till it restart and see if you can load to bootloader then sideload twrp then do what i said

Force shutdown the device and entered fastboot, flashed twrp recovery. And now twrp asks me to input password to decrypt data. I have no idea about what the password is. I also got dm-verity error after flashing the full zip. Help needed.

Im sorry i have to say this but you might wanna sideload oos recovery then sideload oos full zip and see if its boot then try again
Edit :- you might wanna wipe everything before sideload idk try without wiping anything

I did a factory reset in twrp, and the system boots well. But unfortunately I lost all my data. Factory reset also formats internal storage?
I have all my photos backed up in google photos. The only loss is the image quality is not original. Anyway it's not end of the world.

Situation, i have bootloader unloacked but recovery stock, so i flash "twrp-3.0.3-x_blu_spark_v14-op3.img" but the recovery won't start.
Last twrp i have installed was it e it works well, but after install last beta i have this problem.
What i do wrong?!?

That is not the latest TWRP by bluspark. Flash the latest one.

If you can access the OS, change pin/password within the OS to something else, then back to the one you always use then go back to recovery and it should work.

The OS works well, i change my sequence, then back to first sequence, flashed the twrp, it ask me to insert password (not sequence) i try but without success...

Well, if you are sure that you are on the right twrp version by Bluspark. Then I would start with a factory reset. Your phone is encrypted, somehow TWRP asks for a password that never has been setup.
Let's get into business.
On Android go to security settings and select swipe or none in security lock.
Reboot to fastboot, flash the latest TWRP V39, since you are already using bluspark TWRP I won't need to recommend it.
Reboot imediatly to TWRP, Data should get mounted now.
The TWRP version you are on at the moment is outdated, always use the latest build.

Reflash TWRP, reboot to recovery, when prompted to give permission to modify system partition you should slide to Yes.
That will keep TWRP in place.
My phone is cripted! on settings i read phone cripted so when i flash twrp it ask me password...
I try to set NONE to security lock but some problem...

I added now a new TWRP from a Xiaomi.eu Founder.
Xiaomi.eu released rom for Mi Mix 2, it's called chiron. TWRP as the linked it, here. Might be the same as the OP linked tho.

I've flash with fastboot TWRP for my mix2 but when i restarted with fasboot on TWRP it ask me for a password.
Second point : I have no access to files like the xiaomi.eu rom stored on my phone.
anyone faced these issue and is there any solution ? (the bootloader is well unlocked)
ANd when i restart in recovery my phone with power and vol + button, i have the xiaomi recovery and not TWRP.
It is strange, no ??

Can confirm, superSU 2.82 works on Xiaomi EU rom version 7.9.22
unable to mount /system after nadroid backup
TWRP installed fine and experienced no issues until I made a full Nandroid backup. After the backup I have issues flashing because the device is unable to mount /system . busy or in use error.
So now I wait until official TWRP.
If you are having any twrp issues just reboot into twrp and the issues will be gone. Try again!

I tried to reboot back into TWRP still same problem, I tried to reflash TWRP through both fastboot and TWRP image installer. I downloaded the EU rom and tried to flash it and it also failed to flash. OEM unlock is checked, USB debugging is on. TWRP gets over written with the Mi Mix recovery whenever I boot back into system, it doesn't ask me if I want to modify anything when it first boots. Why is this giving me so much trouble I've never encountered this problem with TWRP. Any Advice?.

There is still no official TWRP available. I always do a full wipe factory reset and manual wipe everything before flashing anything. I also get the errors, but I've never tried to restore a backup because I usually just do clean installs each time because the ROMs available right now aren't stable enough for daily use.
The trick for EU rom is complete wipe than boot back into TWRP and try flashing. You will get 2 errors but will install fine. You can install USB drive or transfer EU rom through mtp via TWRP.

Also check the "Mount" button and uncheck the option to open all partitions readonly.
Then reboot TWRP. Last but not least before performing any flash operations (ROM or Magisk/SU-Stuff) check all partitions as marked - then do your flash work
i also miss some more partition that are available to other devices like EFS.
Did anyone know about another TWRP version or devs that are working on one?

and i didnt see the alert message and above message appeared "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot"

If you alter the system in any way you can't lock the bootloader as it will not boot due to possible safety issues by modying the system. In order to use the device with a locked bootloader, you need to flash the original OS.
If you want to use a modified system, keep the bootloader unlocked. Unfortunately, there is no other way.

It would be helpful to know what you want to flash.
Is it OxygenOS?
Then flash it in e.g. TWRP and then lock the bootloader again.
Is it something else?
Keep the bootloader unlocked.

Did you modify it in any way? Root, Magisk, Xposed, Recovery, flashable ZIPs or anything else?
yes, the problem i used tool "TOOL_ALL_IN_ONE" to lock boat-loader
Use "fastboot flashing unlock" to unlock it again, install TWRP, use adb push to copy OxygenOS to it, flash OxygenOS, use "fastboot flashing lock" and it should work just fine again.

I assume this is due to "Allow OEM Unlock" not being enabled. I don't know if anyone has a workaround.
Otherwise, I suggest contacting OnePlus and getting support by an L2 technician.

They keep their tools private. So unless you back them up during the session in the background and use a keylogger to get the password, you will never get your hands on the tools. No one does.
But you can contact them again at any time and they will assist you so just don't do this again and you should be fine
this could be avoided if we had fastboot images of OxygenOS..
you can flash any image from fastboot, even if it's locked.

It's working now....but still ll open a ticket
I also faced similar problem yesterday & following steps worked for me
1. I unlocked the bootloader
2. Flashed TWRP & wiped everything (system data cache, internal) I wiped internal because I was seeing random folders in my internal, you can skip it while trying first time but if it doesn't work. Try again with wiping internal.
3.I flashed stock recovery via fastboot.
4. ADB side loaded oxygen OS (any version) using stock recovery.
I side loaded rom because I was unable to select file from stock recovery option "install from internal"
*don't boot now*
5. Reset everything from stock recovery option and then boot it.
I haven't tried to lock bootloader again but it should lock if you try now without rooting it again (⅛)
(⅛) I think the problem was that I mistakenly tried to lock bootloader with magisk installed which made this issue.
(That's what I was able to notice)
