[Request] Huey Ambient Lighting App on Fire TV Stick 2 - Fire TV Themes and Apps

I side-loaded the Huey Ambient Lighting app to my Fire TV Stick 2 on the latest firmware, but it crashes when I open it. Any ideas or suggestions to make it work? I think this would be really cool.
Thanks!

Huey requires a camera pointed at the screen. This is probably why it crashes. No camera detected.

Found it in the chromecast app. I'm used to nexus devices.
Yeah. It was an option on my s6 edge 64gb and works perfectly

I found an option for screen mirroring in the quick settings as well. I haven't actually tested it however. See the attached screenshot.

Camera app question

So I was messing around with my can app and just looking at settings when I noticed these two options aren't on. Naturally I tapped the icons to see if they could be turned on. Now I know there are some modes they won't work with but so far no matter what I do they went turn on. Has anyone else experienced this? I have the att variant.
Turn down the video resolution and the stabilization should become available.

Yeah I would have thought so as well but I have gone through every res setting from the UHD down to QCIF with no change so nto sure what I may be missing.
Have you tried going into settings and clearing cache and data on the camera app?

Is it possible to use a Fire TV in portrait mode

As the title says, is it possible to configure the Fire TV to run in portrait mode?
I've tried some apps that say they can force rotation, but when activated, seems to change the rotation for about 1 second, then it switches back with the display stretched/distorted until the rotation is reset.
I'd prefer a solution that does not require root. Thanks.

Yes use this app - it will be stretched/distorted on landscape layout but if you run an app that is only running in portrait it should display alright
Thanks for the reply. I tried that app, but it does not seem to have the desired effect.
The application I am using supports landscape and portrait mode, but I want to use it in portrait mode exclusively. When using that application it seems to run the app in landscape mode but force the aspect ratio to look like portrait.
For example, I actually plan on rotating my TV 90 degrees and using it that way.
Does your TV have an accelerometer? I've never seen one that did. Not to say they aren't out there, but I'm betting that's the issue.

No accelerometer. I'm just going to mount it sideways.

Without one your TV won't know that you rotated it.

I do not believe this is the case. Even if the TV had an accelerometer it would have no way to tel the FIre TV about the rotation. There are many Android devices that let you specify the rotation without an accelerometer. Its just a setting in the OS.
Since the intended use case of the Amazon Fire TV is to watch movies, they did not include this as a user-configurable option. But it is definitely possible. For example, if I edited build.prop and set ro.sf.hwrotation=180 it would work. But I would like to find a non-root solution.
Any success?
Nope. I ended up editing the apps I needed to transpose their views 90 degrees.
I need something to mirror my phone screen (in portrait) to the screen that is also rotated 90 degrees to be portrait. Do you have any idea how to manipulate it sonce this does not work?
Is there any info on how you did the app editing? I'm in the same boat.
same issue, I'd really like to just rotate everything by 90° (just need prime video and plex)

pixel 3 cam on pixel xl?

Hi,
So my question is if the pixel 3 cam will be ported to our phone the pixel 2 cam was ported pretty fast to the first generation, is it possible with the latest one too?
i reallyyyyyyyyy hope so. I am running a custom pie rom and it has the pixel 3 camera BUT no portrait mode unfortunately.
So somebody has started porting it already (https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2/) You can download the latest one, if you already have the normal google camera app installed you won't be able to update it, so you can use app cloner (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.applisto.appcloner) and create version with a different internal app name to install it separately. Portrait mode and photobooth are available, slow motion does not work

Works great although the stock app seems to get better quality photos but I guess still this app is new and has a long way to go with a lot promising features!
I don't get it...I've been using this for a week:
https://mobilesyrup.com/2018/10/10/google-pixel-3-camera-apk/
Only thing is, you need to be running 9.0.

This one has functioning night sight, slow motion, and portrait mode (front and back), haven't found any weird glitches and don't have to do any "tricks" to get the app to work, like clone it or flip cameras back and forth to get it to take a picture.
Motion photos don't work though.

Has YouTube HDR Stopped Working for You? (Pixel 2 XL)

Hi,
YouTube HDR has just stopped working for me. I can still select the resolution + HDR for a compatible video, but the brightness no longer automatically jumps to maximum to cater for the larger dynamic range. It was working right up until yesterday, and doesn't seem to correspond with a YouTube update, either. It's like Android isn't detected the HDR source even though it's selected, and so HDR videos are flat and lifeless.
Has this happened to anybody else?

Using the no root youtube vanced app from here on XDA this isn't an issue if suggest migrating to it yourself just so you don't have ads if nothing else it and there is a black themed one if you're interested in slight battery savings

Press the 3 dots and when you press on resolution you should have a hdr option near the bottom of the list if it's a hdr video

That did the trick, thank you. I wonder why the official app just stops working.

I think it's important to note that although HDR may be selected (like in my case), it may not necessarily work. You'll know if it's worked for sure when the screen brightness automatically sets to maximum. Now, bright parts of the video such as lights will stand out more in contrast to the dark sections, adding overall realism to the picture. I personally think it's great, and can't wait to get an HDR OLED TV.
