I've rooted and installed TWRP (RC2) sucessfully on my Pixel (Non-Versizon), but when I boot into TWRP and try to create a Nandroid backup I can't because the SDCARD folder is encrypted.
How do I get around this safely?

I usually flash-all.bat and/or keep re-installing TWRP over and over until it finally decrypts.
There is probably an easier way to do it.
I just haven't bothered to look.

Hi all,
I need to recover some information from my phone from before I flashed a new ROM, and wondering what's the easiest way about it based on the scenario given below;
I was running a rooted stock ROM (LB) with TWRP. I used titanium to batch backup my apps ( but seem to have overlooked my notepad app which had info in it that I now need.)
I installed resurrection remix which comes with CWM so can't just do a new nandroid, then restore the old one to get the info, then re-restore the newer backup.
Is there a way to extract the info direct from my twrp backup on my SD/ laptop or do I need to/is it possible to flash TWRP to replace CWM and keep the rest of the ROM as-is?
TIA
If you are just recovering a file, and not restoring the backup itself, try using nandroid manager. I can extract a file from my nandroid backup (created by cwm). I never tried it with twrp nandroid backup though.
Other option is to try to flash the Dual Recovery on your phone.
Then you have TWRP and CWM on your phone.

It depends on a lot of factors.
What ROM, what TWRP version, what partitions did you back up, etc.
If you want to get your phone working, you can flash any ROM of your choice from TWRP or restore stock image.

TWRP Version is the last one (I think). I backup every partition so I made a full backup of everything. The rom Is the simple aosp. I very want back all my stuff

Backing up all the partitions was the mistake.
Getting your stuff back looks difficult.
If you flash ROM using TWRP, your media files and anything stored on your phone won't be deleted.
But all your apps and stuff will be lost.
How do I make a TWRP backup using the latest TWRP fastboot? (For some reason when I flash TWRP, I end up losing it, not sure why. Therefore I just always use the fastboot TWRP) Are there any issues due to the partition system? Also, if I make a TWRP backup, flash a custom ROM, then decide I want to go back to stock, would I be able to use the TWRP backup I made to do that?
Have you tried using TWRP installer instead of flashing via fastboot?

If you are losing TWRP, probably on reboot then your system isn't open or unsecured. You need to get TWRP on there permanently. Go to the TWRP guide and install it according to those instructions.

The system does have a slot A slot B for the updates that it does. I believe A is the one you are using, it installs updates on B then moves them to A so it can update in the background. But i've not had issues because of it.

If backups are made properly you should be able to restore any backup you want and go back to that Rom, whether its stock, AOSP or whatever.
Has anyone been able to restore a TWRP backup recently?
I have TWRP 3.2.2.0 and it does not seem to be able to restore the backups made by itself?

I have backed up and restored a few times. It seems if I restore to the same slot I backed up on I don't get that internal error. So far so good

It does not seem to be able to get that far in the first place - when entering the restore menu it is not even able to find the backups - it seems to not be able to recognize folders (created by itself and/or TWRP 3.2.1-2) of the type

Yes, but use unofficial TWRP from ROM section not the official one.
Backup boot, system image, vendor image and data.
Works for custom ROMs, not sure about stock ROM.
Also backup EFS and persist once in case you lost IMEI or sensors.

I'm surprised that unlocking didn't delete your data, for me it did and it usually does.
For TWRP use fastboot boot <filename>.img to boot it and then flash the zip.
Normally that doesn't delete data, but always backup important data first.
I'm not sure how good TWRP handles encrypted data...I'm always unencrypted.
Before TWRP backup people say to remove pins and maybe fingerprints first (there are zip files for that) because then restoring will work better.
Good luck, happy flashing and first search and read if you are unsure.
