Yesterday youtube crashed my phone, I had to switch it off by pressing the power button long enough (never happened before!).
Since then I'm forced to be a restricted user, I do not have the status bar buttons, cannot enter certain options in the configuration (user accounts and developer options for example), the hardware buttons are changed to default behaviour again, ...
When I want to enter developer settings the phone tells me that they are not allowed for that user.
How can I get my phone back from this state? I already tried to flash 3.2.8 above itself. I have root and TWRP.
never seen this issue but it seems related to the system - do a CLEAN flash of oxygen OS
Just did that ... *sigh* ... all those settings again ...
Wipe user data in recovery and reboot
Too late, did a fresh install.

This same situation happened me also with LG G4 Imperium ROM v 13.0. I haven't found a way to get back normal user. Even if my phone did not crash but instead of that it shutted down because too hot temperature (because of long gaming).
It seems that this is MM SEVERE bug.
It disables also company account so cannot get any mail etc from O365 also.
Is there any place to create bug for general MM Android devs for google?

Hey all,
I'm running the Last Paranoid Android Rom witch includes awesomes features like Pie controls/ per app DPI and different user sessions (the reason i chose PA).
The thing is, when i create a new user, i go to configure it, lock the screen, rotate it, select the new user, unlock the device and then boum ! Black screen, hundreds of pop ups show up like "Gmail has stopped" "Phase Beam has stopped" "Android Keyboard has stopped" and as i press ok, a new pop up shows up ! It's impossible to use another user so i Just lock the device and go back to my session.
So my questions are :
- is it an experimental feature ?
- Am i doing something wrong ?
- does some of you make it work ?
- if you do, what Rom are you on ?
Thanks in advance for your answers !

You probably didn't do a Factory reset before going to the Paranoid Android
Either that or the Nightly/rom you are using isn't very stable.
Hy,
I was on the PA 3.10 4MARCH First. When i flashed this rom, i did factory reset wiped data and caches. But then the update PA 3.10 6MARCH came out. I dowloaded it and flashed it. Since it's an update, no need to factory reset ou wipe data or cache.
Maybe that's the problem ?
I don't think it is cause i followed instructions from the official thread...
Thanks for your answer tho'

Google has limited multi-user support to tablets. I can't speak as to whether or not devs have gotten it working on phones since I spend most of my time on the N7 scene.

Hi guys,
Some info 'bout phone:
-unlocked bl
-rooted
-Stock
-franco kernel
-many xposed mods
-TWRP 3.20
Situation:
Today i got weird issue, after rebooting phone, i had to type password to unlock phone, when i typed it correctly i received a notification about incorrect password, when it was a good one. Unfortunately i couldnt unlock with Google account (it wasnt even posibility even after few "bad" passwords) So i was made to unlock phone manually.
I runned recovery, opened file manager and deleted one of files which was containing password, So now i can unlock my phone. But there is one problem i havent predicted - it will be still turned on in settings, i could just edit it.
Now I can unlock phone withouth password but with fingerprint. I was deleting from /data/system.
Files with lock left:
Locksettings.db
Locksettings.db-shm
Locksettings.db-wal
And one is missing which i deleted. I cannot choose a new password, cause it wants an actual password tho its been deleted, but after typing settings are closed (unfortunately settings are closed)
Thats all, only one way to repair this is getting clean missing file yes? Could anyone send me it? Or better all 4 with no security choosen?
Problem no. 2
Now i get oftenly "unfortunately xposed installer has been closed"
Maybe issue no. 1 was caused by xposed, when i had mod installed, which was unlocking phone automaticailly when password was typed correctly?
/i reflashed stock kernel, afterwards Franco and xposed, problem no 2 solved, no 1 still is
Bests
I have my Nexus 5 as my backup phone and use it once in a while just using wifi. It's running cyan and just yesterday, I had the same problem and couldn't get into the phone. It wouldn't accept the pin number that I used forever and never changed it. Needless to say, I did a factory wipe off dalvic cache and data and started the n5 from scratch. It was a backup phone and I lost everything that I had on it from 2 years of use.
My n5x sucks so bad too. I'm having so many problems with this phone and it looks like I have to factory reset this as well. My camera flash isn't timed right so I can't take pics in the dark, the battery drains in 4 hours no matter what I'm doing. Bluetooth suddenly stops while listening to music. Haptic feedback doesn't work consistently. There is so much lag that I can't even use apps sometimes. I'm so done with these Nexus devices.

I have a oneplus 3 with latest Oxygen os 3.2.4 installed
This was happening even before the update I thought 3.2.4 would fix it but it didn't.
So the problem is
Whenever I connect anything to my 3.5mm jack like aux or earphones. The volume is around 50-60%. I try to press volume up button and the phone gets locked. Black screen. Unlock it and it says additional security required, fingerprint won't work at this time. It doesn't reboot it just locks itself. Nor does the volume go up. Sometimes the home screen wallpaper gets reset to Never Settle stock wallpaper. To increase the volume I tried apps that give on screen volume buttons but even in that and even in poweramp volume knob if I try to increase volume; Phone locks. Asks for additional security and doesn't even increase the volume. This isn't a small thing for me. I use earphones and connect to my car aux on daily basis so I need a solution. Not looking for a factory reset don't want to lose data and don't want to get into backup and restore hassle. Please help. And is anyone else facing this issue?

Well, I din't faced any issue like this before. Assuming this is a software issue, I suggest you to sideload OOS 3.2.4 Signed Zip[1.4 GiB] even if its not fixed, then it might be a Hardware issue.

I forgot to mention I'm rooted so that's how I update every time, by flashing the 1.3gb update. 2-3 people have reported the same issue. I tweeted oneplus about this and they say they're familiar about this issue and have forwarded it to the rom team. They tell me to flash previous OS. How do I do that?

Then flash the first stock SIGNED OTA OOS 3.1.2 and then test if volume up is working if it is then update via OTA it may disable ROOT. After a series of OTA updates, you reach 3.2.4 . Then Flash TWRP and then Super SU zip

Successfully downgraded to 3.1.2 but still facing the same issue.
Trying update via OTA now.
3.2.4 now back again. Same issue. This is very bad. Probably have no choice than to wait for oneplus to fix this
Finally got it fixed. I gave a thought on why this could be happening and then I thought about the loud volume safety notice that appears when you try to increase volume.
So I added this to build.prop using build.prop editor from play store
Just add: audio.safemedia.bypass=true
And boom. The problem is solved. Thank god
same issue in my phone
Please help, can someone fix it without using rooting please? i have the exact same problem

Hi,
Sorry to hear that you are facing this issue. There is this feature of drawing over apps (screen overlay) in your mobile device
Navigate to settings>apps
Click on the gear button at top right position then click "draw over other apps".
Then at the second top line you will see a dropdown (enabled is auto selected) click there to choose "apps with permission" from the dropdown.
Now you will see the list of apps with permission. Click on the menu button (3 dots at top right position), choose "show system".
Click on all the system applications one by one e.g. click on "system ui" application and then allow "permit drawing over other apps"
Repeat this for all the system apps and the application you were using when the glitch was faced.
Now your volume increase operation should be functioning normally.
More info:
The increase in volume displays a warning dialog that "increasing the volume might damage hearing ...."
This dialog popup is displayed over any application you are using (actually uses the function of drawing over other apps)
If the system app is not allowed for "drawing over other apps" then the warning dialog is not able to display itself, causing the volume increase operation to fail which results in malfunction.
Now while installing certain apps you might face the issue that "screen overlay is enabled" and will not allow you to install tgat app.
For this issue temporarily remove the permission of drawing over other apps for the apps and system apps that have the permission, following the same navigation path and then install the application.
Once you are done installing the application you can revert back your permission of "drawing over other apps" function for apps you want to use.
Thanks.

hi guys,
my nexus 5x is getting a bit old and is very very slow a lot of the time. i see 2 options:
1: factory reset and hope it speeds up
2: root, and install a light weight ROM ( crDroid looks good) and also use root features like disable auto start on apps.
i feel like the 2nd option would be best, i think a major issues with my phone is that i have a lot of apps that i use maybe once a week, but its impossible to disable auto-start apps without root based on my knowledge (Ive tried several apps, it doesn't work). and i dont want to install/reinstall a dozen apps each month.
i have google backup enabled, and i also backed up my SMS data with a 3rd party app (apparently google doesn't back up SMS). if i were to unlock bootloader and flash a new ROM, would i loose any data thats currently on my phone (ie, data/apps that wont come back after restoring backup)?
Thanks

If your bootloader is not unlocked then absolutely. Unlocking it will wipe the device.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yes - unlocking bootloader will wipe everything, so make sure photos/videos/music/sms/mms is backed up in cloud or on PC.
Since you're gonna lose everything anyway, why not try factory reset (but backup the things I mention above first Then see how your phone acts when adding back the 3rd party apps.
Have you taken all OTA's? 8.1 is out for Nexus 5X.
I'm on it now and not rooted. Have rooted up to now, but so far I am impressed with stock non-rooted performance.

If you can live without root I think you should try first the wiping/factory reset. Performance is pretty good with 8.1 stock for me.One restart everyday is recommended also.
the 8.1 OTA update worked great for 24 hours, and after that it became incredibly slow again. for some crazy ass reason, every single app is running all the time, even if i limit background process and even disable apps with background check. when there is a heavy computing load, random apps that are rarely ever used start crashing (not responding error). and since you cant stop apps from running anymore without root, i think a root is required or a new phone as its unusable 75% of the time.
if i use google backup, and backup my sms through a 3rd app, will i be able to restore everything on my phone after root? if not, what will go missing so i can back it up separately.
if google backup includes all apps/app data, contacts, pictures/videos and call history, and i backed up my sms with a 3rd party app. seems like everything should get restored after root.
I was watching catlog *:W and *:E and saw that OOM killer was failing and a bunch of errors, even with the Jan 5 2018 / 8.1.0 r7 update. The phone is ridiculously slow at starting chrome, loading webpages, downloading attachments from email, updating apps from the play store.
I deleted the dalvik-cache and cache and started every app manually and rebooted a bunch of times, but the phone seems to degrade into this pathetically slow mode. It seems as if the flash is 10-100x slower than it should be.

Hi All
Please excuse me if this has been answered before, I have a brand new Mi A2 Lite, all seems to be working fine but when I try to encrypt the phone (requirement for work) then it does into an endless reboot recycle and never completes so I have to do a forced wipe and reboot of the phone to get it back to a useable state, I am new to the whole Android experience so don't fully understand all the terminology used in these forums so please be gentle with me
I also do not see any option to update the phone even though it keeps telling me that it couldn't install system updates, so if you can help with that as well I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
Mark

You need develooer mode in to use adb. Then see the section If the OTA fails on this guide.

I go into Settings > Security & Privacy > Encryption & Credentials and then select Encrypt Phone, it tells me it needs to be fully charged and pulled in and then I select encrypt, it then goes into a reboot loop and needs to be hard reset, so never actually encrypts it.
I don't see Security Update in the security settings even after enabling developer mode.

Are you on Oreo or Pie? What version number do you see in Settings -> About?
Eg. My phone says android version 9 (that's pie) and build number PKQ1.180917.001.10.0.14.0.PDLMXIM (that's the September update).
I found that encryption screen burried under advanced.
My phone is already encrypted. No option to disable. That's what this phone does. Custom ROMs need a special encryption disabler.

Hmm...
If you're on Oreo the update screen will be in a different place. I normally go Settings -> System -> Advanced -> System Update.
There have been people who bought A2 Lite but got a hacked Redmi Pro 6 instead... Don't panic yet, but if things are seeming odd... Look at this thread for some signs your phone was tampered with.

Mi A2 Lite already comes encrypted by default. I know this because I use an work profile too.
I can be wrong, bit are you sure you got a genuine Mi A2 Lite, with the official ROM? Go to Settings -> About Device. Post a screenshot, please.
I've had a similar issue with 2 devices (32 and 64 gb variants), both phones unencrypted themselves without me doing something weird, the normal behavior with an encrypted phone is that when you reboot or turn on the device it asks for a pin to fully boot, but my phones after some usage skipped that step and boot without the pin, after that I cant re enable encryption unless I wipe the phones, both aren't redmi 6 pro because i checked and they receive every monthly update without any problem, i'm guessing it is a memory issue ( read somewhere mi a1 and a2 had eMMC problems)

First double check which your model is through fastboot using:
Code:
fastboot getvar
if you receive a code sakura then your model is Redmi 6Pro and the better would be returning it completely to stock or you´ll have more troubles in the way.
