hi
this os number is belong to LRA variant and there is no marshmallow update for this device as discussed before
here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66911147&postcount=5
so you need to follow this post and flash the Lollipop RUU as described (( there is a link to another post in the linked post above ))

And one more thing bro as you know i am rooted, bootloder unlocked, twrp installed and modified CIDnumber to 111111111.. can i safely flash the file that is provided in the link...is it safe to flash it on my totally modified device? I am asking this because someone was saying that stock recovery is necessary to to perform RUU zip other wise we will end up with a bricked device.

LRA is a division or program of Verizon, and uses the Verizon network: http://www.verizonwireless.com/news/article/2015/05/verizons-lte-in-rural-america-lra-program-celebrates-five-years-of-delivering-advanced-wireless-services-to-rural-customers.html
But in terms of the M8, if I recall properly what ckpv5 has posted, is that you cannot flash the Verizon RUU to the LTA version. Or else it will indeed make the SIM stock working. You can only flash LRA RUUs, and as mentioned, the latest available RUU is Lollipop (Android 5).

Hello everyone,
I have an international HTC One X with CID HTCCN701, and I would like to install CM10.1.
I am not a noob , and I have already installed a Jelly Bean ROM after unlocking. However, I am currently on hboot version 1.12 S-ON Unlocked, and I could not find a hboot that is for my CID which fits the requirements (Version 1.28 or higher)
Moreover, though I know how to flash hboot, it would be great if anyone can provide a method to update hboot without changing the present ROM, recovery, and data on the device.
Thank you!
P.S. Please do not tell me to search; I cannot find a firmware here for HTCCN701
Does anyone have a solution?
Check for a newer hboot here

However, because it looks suspicious, would someone please tell me how to verify if the zip is indeed real? (Not edited)

try to install it, if it fails to pass htc sig and cid check, it wont do any harm
Yes, I think there is 1.29 RUU, but isn't the hboot contained in it not up to date?
And, I have already checked for updates when I was on stock ROM back in mid June.

Thanks, but are you sure it will just refuse to flash if it is a fake? Because I saw on the forums that if a wrong firmware is flashed, the device could be bricked.
Another question is that is it possible to upgrade hboot without modifying system and data?

You would need s-off for it to flash if it's fake and upgrading the hboot doesn't wipe system or data , although unlocking the boot loader does

Not sure have this being ask before. So,I have bought a Hk version of m8 HTC_622. Was thinking of changing from CID HTC_622 to HTC_044 (my country ) or 001(WWE). Was this process possible? How do I know my m8 is branded? I have downloaded the CID getter from Google play store. Which show HTC_622. My phone does come with some bloat wear like Tvb. But it can be removed or disabled. Any idea guys? Thanks in advance.

You need to s-off your device then you can change the cid, you need either firewater for that and if it doesn't work you have to use sunshine which costs around 25$ but it will s-off your device for sure...but why changing cid? Shouldn't be that cid a WWE one? Or amercian one? Also if you change the cid to one of the you want you need to install a stock WWE/Europe Rom

For changing cid you just need s-off , to get s-off you need root your device, but maybe the newest build of sunshine apk will temp root it. But your device Is a Sprint one right? Because h/k phones are only in US from Sprint. So normally you need to go to one m8 Sprint forum for s-off and all other things because I think if you just change your cid to wwe user Europe one you won't be able to get ota as your stock Rom is a Sprint one but you need then wwe or Europe Rom...

Hi, i use m9 verizon out of the US. i can't even check if there is an update. it says "updating ony works in CMDA mode". I can use my phone , mobile internet 3g etc. i hate it and i want to know if i can flash rom and working normal, updating itself and no wrong sim card alert?
Do you suggest any rom? Or can i install just one EU rom? Thank you.
You shouldn't flash an international ROM on your Verizon M9 unless it includes support for Verizon.
As far as updates, they will be posted here when they come, so you will be able to stay up to date as long as you are S-Off.

You need to be s-off and change your MID to the AT&T MID and CID to AT&T or superCID. Then you can flash the RUU, and you should be in business.

Actually all that is needed with the M8 is superCID to flash the RUU, although changing the MID might be needed for VoLTE. I'm not sure about that part since I'm not from India

So I managed to flash a rooted developer edition rom on my m9 and when I tried to run ota updates, I got an error saying that it couldn't finish because my phone's software has been modified. After some searching around (and admiditantly some arguing), found out that it's because my firmware doesn't match my android version. I'm still running android 5.0.2 and I don't THINK I messed with the firmware. So how do I check the firmware version and find either a rom (preferably as close to stock as possible) or a ruu that will work for the software/firmware versions that I'm using?
Please do a "fastboot getvar all" and post here.

It works and it's the simplest way in my opinion.
Tell me if it worked or what problem you encounter.

Oh. And I won't be able to get ota from AT&T because I'm on MetroPCS so I'll need a ruu for metro, tmo or developer

If you have S-OFF it's simple to convert, I'll show you a little tutorial.
If you don't have S-OFF it's impossible and you'll be stuck with this firmware if you won't get an AT&T sim.

I don't have S-offor or the $25 for sunshine. Shouldn't there be a t-mobile, MetroPCS or developer rom or ruu that's compatible with the firmware I'm using?

You can only flash AT&T because of CID, every carrier have different CID and because that the different RUU will give you error.
Only with S-OFF you can change CID and MID and flash any GSM RUU.
So, you're stuck with 1.32.502.9 firmware until you get an AT&T sim to update it or s-off it.
With this firmware you can only flash custom roms with Android version 5.x and some 6.0.x but just few 6.0.x and maybe will be unstable.

Ah, okay. So basically, I have to go back to AT&T then use a series of ruu files to work my way to nougat then finally flash the custom rom?

Or you can just flash this RUU, then update it from settings, it's more simple.

That's actually why I tried flashing a rom. AT&T won't let you get updates unless you're using their sim card for some ungodly reason.

I understand what you tried but it's impossible to jump firmware to 2.xx.502.xx or more with RUU, this can be done only with OTA on S-ON phones.

Is it possible to go from one ruu to the next until I get the phone to nougat though?

No, you cannot update it to 2.xx.502.xx or more with RUU, just OTA, Flippy explained you why in the other thread(different encryption between 1.... 2... 3... and 4... firmwares).
So the only way to update your firmware is to flash the RUU I give you(don't flash twrp, root, etc), get an AT&T sim and update it from settings until you reach nougat.
I don't explain it one more time... I think I explained the same thing in different ways 3-4 times....

Excuse me. I was thinking/hoping software provided by HTC themselves would be able to upgrade the firmware along with the OS instead of forcing everyone to be stuck with the only option for software upgrades from a carrier that we don't even want/use. It only makes sense that if it can be done on samsung phones, which I've rooted and flashed several times, it could also be done on HTC. So it looks like the only way to get nougat is to suck AT&T's ****. Thanks.
