Voicemail transcriptions - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Voicemail transcriptions doesn't seem to work on the pixel. Anyone else? It works perfectly on my iPhone 7 plus. Is there a setting that I need to enable?

It would be helpful if you added your Carrier to your XDA profile so we knew how to better help you.
Adding your country/state to your profile would be helpful too.

Visual Voicemail

Which app are you using? I tried YouMail and it never quite worked correctly. After I manually forwarded the number (the automated process didn't work), it never notified me of VMs.
Wish it worked, because I loved the caller id feature. So what are you folks using?

Might have to try it again. I used it on T-Mobile and it seemed that I often had friends complaining that they'd go straight to VM even if I had signal.

Yes, they do have a free version in the market that allows over wifi only. The paid version allows you to use over 3g/4g. I haven't tried it over 3g/4g yet but wifi works great.
I got it free on Amazon a few moons ago. The early versions were pretty meh, but the last updates work great over 3/4G and WIFI.
Perfect app.

Visual voicemail

Howdy,
I just switched to T-Mobile today with a new G3 and ported over from Verizon.
I am having a problem getting the visual voicemail to work. when I try to use it, I get a unable to communicate with server error. This was happening on my wife's LG G3 too, I setup my regular voicemail just fine.
Anyone else having this problem? Or do you think it could be something to do with the porting process (everything seems to have ported fine)
Or any other suggestions (besides resetting my phone, I will try that last, but would like to not have to set up everything again)
Thanks!
Use Google voice way better

How are you using google voice? On my handset, I have it all set up as I should, but the "Voicemail Provider" option within call settings is greyed out, I cannot change that to google voice.

Keyword there is "showing."
It's Google Voice. Call your phone from a different phone to confirm and you should hear your Google Voice greeting.

NP!
You can also call T-Mobile and have them do the following:
--Disable Voicemail on your line
--Setup the forwarding number to be your Google Voice number
You can also setup the forwarding yourself the be the Google Voice number. After doing this, even if I don't install GV after a flash, the calls still go to GV voicemail and whatnot.

Project fi visual voicemail?

Is anyone using the 20x with project fi?
It's working great for me, but I can't for the life of me figure out visual voicemail.
I have the l29 model, I've tried the Google dialer v26 APK as others have mentioned, no go....
Any advice?

I've had a difficult time with this one. Phone works amazing for everything else, not a hiccup otherwise, but the no vvm makes me feel like I'm back in the 2000s. I haven't not had vvm since.... My first year iPhone 12 years ago.

I have not seen an option for vvm nor texting of transcripts. I literally have to hold the 1 down and dial in for my voicemail.

Unfortunately that version won't install. But I had been installing the modded version and it was a no go. It won't show the vvm tab.

Have you found a solution yet?
Found this under another thread from Ajsmsg78
"On my L29 I have to disable visual voicemail in the stock Dialer's settings before I can activate visual voicemail. I'm on Metro."

Unfortunately, there is no option for visual voicemail under the stock dialer. It's quite confusing lol.
I finally got my phone this weeend. VVM doesn't show up, however I do receive a text with a transcript of the voicemail. I had enabled this when I was using the Nexus 6 so not sure if it's a carryover or not. Have you had any luck?
Neither me nor my other two friends could get it working properly. One of my friends managed to get it working for two days then it stopped working again. We all have L29's and tried every version of Google Dialer from v22 to v30.

Samsung Messages RCS

Anybody here got RCS on their native messaging app? I saw some S10 owners already have RCS on their native messaging app.
Thank you.
I don't see anything in that app that would allow a settings chnage to enable. I don't have it set as my default, however. I use Google messages. That being said, no one I know has turned on RCS on their phones so I don't see the features. Ever.

it can be activated via an edit to the relevant Customer.xml if it it not a standard feature on your device.

I use Google messages as well. Almost everyone I text with that uses Android has rcs. Which includes my extended family and friends. Mostly because I force them, lol. So nice when sending pictures and videos. And when I have to send an important text and I get to see if its been read.

For me it's about 50/59 Android to iPhone friends. I only have two friends who refused to use Google messages cause of preferences. Whatever I guess, lol. It's more of a luxury thing than anything else for me. Can't help it if others don't wanna make their lives easier, lol.

Can you please show us how to do it?
I have international exynos and dont have the option
The stock Samsung Messaging app relies on the carriers to implement RCS. If your carrier hasn't implemented RCS on its network then Samsung Messages RCS features won't activate. Google Messages does have RCS implemented separate from the carriers. The major US carriers have banded together to roll out RCS in the US. That is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

Its in the Cscfeatures.xml, you'll need root.
I have a N9750/DS on T-mobile and have mine edited as:
<CscFeature_IMS_ConfigRcsFeatures>RCS_TMB_PHASE2</CscFeature_IMS_ConfigRcsFeatures>
<CscFeature_IMS_EnableRCSe>TRUE</CscFeature_IMS_EnableRCSe>
Once you find the line it'll probably have >FALSE</ ...change to true, save, reboot and test

UK / BTU firmware. EE Network.

Samsung still relies on the carriers for RCS. It is working with Google though to remedy this.
