New Google Now tabs? - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Has anyone on Pixel/XL gotten the new Google Now tabs to show up?
I have gotten them on my Nexus 5 and 6, but not my 6P or Pixel Xl.
Just curious if anyone has gotten them yet or not.

No idea what you are talking about. Screenshot?

I believe the OP is referring to this:
http://www.droid-life.com/2016/12/06/google-app-update-breaks-google-now-two-feeds/
I never saw it on my N6P either. Not sure the Pixel will get it or not.

Not nothing like that on my Pixel XL. This is something I am interested in and the theory was it is server side since out of the people running the same version of the Google App some had it and some didn't and it didn't appear to be phone model specific. Saying that I am interested to hear you had it on your 6p but not you Pixel.

I'm gonna check my 6P now LOL. Wonder why the Google flagship would be lacking a feature that the 6P all ready got. Oh well. It's minor I guess. It will probably make it in January update.

Pixel C LTE Version

Pretty straight forward...anyone see any news or rumors of whether or not there will be an LTE version of the device? Just returned my Nexus 9 for a full refund since it falsely states it works with Verizon and doesn't, so I'm hoping this might be my replacement.

Looks like it's not... When n9 was announced they said WiFi first with LTE at a later date. You got n9 again though

There's references in the source code about booting the LTE modem if present on the Pixel C, but Google hasn't announced anything yet.
Also, Verizon LTE works on Nexus 9 on Android 6.0.1

Haha thanks...I'm aware. I started the first thread and was the one who spent all the time troubleshooting the damn thing before finally giving up and returning it lol.
I bought it again on sale though since I think a Pixel and a Surface Pro are going to be overkill to have both.

Software update tonight 10/19/17

Anyone get the software update this evening ?
Haven't had a chance to check any differences

Nothing available here in my 64gb 2 xl
Copy that, came through for me yesterday (10/18). No idea what it changed.
Has anyone captured the ota? It sure would be nice if google would post OTA's and factory images for these devices already
I got the ota yesterday. I was wondering if anyone else had any info. It's still the September security update... I thought that was weird

I got it yesterday, went ahead and took it since mine's an unlocked version. No security update. It said fixes and improvements for features or something like that. It was pretty small too. The update seriously took like 60 seconds lol.

No update for me - wonder why some get it and others don't. Is it geographical ? I
Goode usually does a staged rollout for updates, I haven't gotten it on mine yet either so those of us without it should get it within a few days probably.
You're supposed to be able to pull it now with the check for updates button. I'm on a Google unlocked 2 XL on Verizon. Maybe it's Verizon specific?

This is suppose to be the case but it's not really true. I had a regular Pixel that didn't get the October security update till 4? days after it was released even though I had the latest stable play services, hitting check update did nothing.
That's a bummer
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Doesn't is seem odd that there is no October security update for the Pixel 2 and 2 XL? Wasn't it released in general on October 3? Why aren't the phones shipping with it? And if not, why does it exist for the original Pixel phones but not the Pixel 2/XL?
I am on Verizon and didn't get any update...

That's the version I'm running but as far as I know, that is the version on the phone out of the box.
-- Never mind. I did not get an update and there are no full OTA files posted for the Pixel 2.

Moving a Pixel XL from TMobile to Verizon?

I just upgraded my TMobile line to a 2 XL, and I want to use my old XL for my Verizon line. In the old 6P days, I would have to change the image due to them being carrier specific. Is that true for the Pixel XLs? It appears that Verizon is using OPR3.170623.013 now, and there is no specific Verizon image. Can someone just confirm that I should be able to reset the phone, pop the Verizon SIM in, and be off to the races? Thanks!
My understanding is just pop in the sim and you are good to go. It may tell you there is an update available and it may wait until the December update is ready. The Verizon specific firmware really just deals with some reception/radio type stuff from what I have read. When I got my Pixel XL I just dumped the sim in it from my old phone and it took care of itself, I have a Google Store version with a Verizon SIM.

With the 6p, I had horrid coverage problems until I put the Vz specific OS on it...
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
I can't speak to that, I would just pop the sim in and see what happens, it will take a Verizon firmware, I just don't know when. When you put the sim in give it a few minutes to see if it does it on its own, if not check for updates in settings and see if that pulls it in. No harm in just giving it a shot.

pixel 3 +XL same hardware?

Is it justified to have two separate forums for rom dev?
What else besides the notch/screen/battery separates these phones? ?
nothing else.

Rhetorical question.. So why 2 different forums to confuse things?
I've no idea why XDA does things that way. It's cleaner I guess but it's a pain when you want to look at both.

I imagine that it has to do more with the customization options because they do use different firmware for each. The Pixel 2 XL had additional steps to unlock the bootloader in spite of the fact that the hardware in the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL was pretty much the same.

"live caption" on Pixel 2 XL?

I'm not seeing the "Live Caption" function in Android 10 on my Pixel 2 XL. Do we know which phones this is available on? And do we know if it's coming to the Pixel 2 line as well?
Thanks, Alan

Well ... that doesn't answer my question. I'm asking about a Pixel device.
Does anyone know if and when Live Caption is coming to Pixel 2?

Yes it does answer your question. Reread the answer and it's "Later this fall".
