Hi all,
I installed Pixel Launcher for a month with all the weather related settings have been enabled in Google Now; but still cannot see the weather icon showed up in the Home screen next to Date & Time. Any advise on how to fix that?
Try to move to system/app
Check app permissions also

Well, you have different ways to do that with the stock rom:
-temp root with adb (never tried, requires modified boot img)
-flahing it by a custom recovery
-root your phone ?
Also, can you try Nova Launcher? They have pixel like features and works great for me.

Enable location and it'll show up
Need root, but sorry the weather don't need to be as system/app, the left side swipe google panel need to be as system/app.
As Stevica Smederevac just enable location.
Tested it. Right.

I just restored the oem stock image and it turns out that the Original Galaxy Note 10.1 Autodesk Sketchbook app is simply a shortcut that requires us to download the APK and install it. However, the download link in the shortcut doesn't work anymore.
Does anyone by chance still have the original APK?
Maybe we should archive or mirror it on here?

How did you go with this? I have just installed a custom rom and have lost the app.
Where can you get it from?
Sketchbook 4.0 is AWESOME and worth the 5$. They recently updated the app for the first version update since 2013. It IS WELL worth purchasing. I can't say it enough
Hi All
Here a google dialer & contacts for EMUI 4.0
1- download the zip from here and unpack it
2-copy the two apk file on /system/app
3-reboot
4-enjoy
Now you have the stock google dialer and contacts on your phone
I use it on my phone and seems that everything work fine
Thanks again for this. Works great.

Same. That timeline's font is just so horribly small...
btw, does this require any kind of root, unlocked bootloader or custom recovery?
write protected
/system/app
Path is write protected,
This is not going to work in lollipop or marshmallow, only kitkat I think.
how can I root MM 6.0?? I use auto root but then the phone boot loop.
any chance this could work on emui 3.1 or is it only for emui 4.0 ??
this is not dependent on the EMUI version you are running, nor what device.
you simply need to have access to write to /system

Any way to uninstall? The app doesn't work with internal memory contacts, no color of contacts and some no have the avatar. I don't see the apps in Titanium for uninstall, thanks!
Edit: it's ok, uninstall from titanium and after reboot the icons disappear

Alternatively, you can install the official Pixel Launcher from here:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/pixel-launcher/
I have it running on my device without root, bear in mind that the Google Now panel will not work
And that you need to enable developer options to use the "Change Icon Shape" feature
:good:

Hi.
I've tried this method a few times and it says "app not installed" after downloading and installing it?
I'm not rooted, anything I need to be changing in settings?
Thanks

It works for me, I installed it on both stock Oreo and Nougat
This is the one I am using, its the latest on the site
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...el-launcher-odr-4023749-android-apk-download/
Although I believe there should be a new one from the official release of O on the Pixel
One thing mentioned in the comments there is that the package name conflicts with the rootless pixel launcher.
So if you have another Pixel or O launcher installed, you need to uninstall it before installing this one

There's also a modded Pixel Launcher with Google now and round icons, but not nearly as much customization as Lawnchair. That's what I'm using. Can find it on Android Police and I think in the apps section on xda

Weather widget isn't working
I've had the latest official Pixel launcher from apkmirror installed on Android M and O, and the weather widget has worked. You'll have to wait for a while for it to appear instead of the date widget. Very rarely it disappears, maybe once in a month, but it will come back soon.

I think it wants device position (GPS) and then it works... I haven't checked for how many days it keeps the weather update.

What's the difference between installing in system and not in system? Surely an app is an app regardless of where installed?

System apps can get extra privileges and permissions
Look on
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/Manifest.permission.html
Anything marked not for use by 3rd party application can only be achieved by a system app or with some a normal app with root access on a rooted device
For example with a launcher from memory I don't know if it's still true but only a system app could create and run widgets

If you do not put in the system it does not get the permissions, example pull the new Google Stock bar from the Google Chrome application
someone could provide an apk with google us without needing root.
