Nextbit Robin is $150 on amazon. Should I upgrade from a S6? - Nextbit Robin

I've heard about the Robin. The good the bad and the cool. I don't know much about it other then it's discounted like crazy right now. Is it worth pi,king up to replace my Galaxy s6 on itsome last legseason? Thanks!

My wife upgraded from her S6 and it works fine for her. She said it's noticeably faster. However the S6 camera is a little better.

My s6 has a broken home button and the camera doesn't like to use the OIS without making a God awful sound.
The thing is on its last legs and if the Robin is that cheap then I'm intrigued.

I switched from galaxy s6 Verizon model running T-Mobile my Robin is out for delivery as we speak

debating to exchange my S5 for a M8

well i just switched to t-mobile maybe a week or two ago and got the S5 because it was what they had in store and i just came from a S4 from verizon and thought it couldn't hurt to stay loyal to samsung.
Well i been watching a lot of videos of the M8 and it seems i am starting to take a liking to it but for some reason i feel like i am downgrading (maybe because the S5 is just a tad newer)
How is the rooting on this device and does this phone have CWM yet? i like to flash roms and i already have my S5 rooted and CWM already and is the bootloader on this phone unlocked? i have never used a HTC device before and i have always stuck with Samsung smart phones.
how is the battery life on this phone? and has anyone else exhanged there S5 for a M8?
also another thing that is wanting me to switch is that cool dot case that makes it seem like a old school 8 bit deal.
Can't comment on the s5 but I have had the s3, s4, and the note 3 but my most recent phone before my switch was the nexus 5. I'm sort of bias because I HATE touchwiz. Every Samsung I have had that was the first thing I got rid of. HTC has come along way and I'm not sure if you can actually say the s5 is newer since I'm pretty sure they were released the same day.
Anyways CWM and TWRP are both available just depends on your build date if you can complete the process to getting it. But I'm sure that will be rectified soon enough.
That all being said I love my M8 I'm going on day 3 now and not looking back. But I honestly never even had the s5 as a thought in my mind because I've owned plenty of Samsung devices including the gear and don't think I will be returning anytime soon.

The M8 is quite a phone. I still have a rooted S4 with an AOSP ROM installed since I hate Touchwiz as well. I'm thinking of switching too because I love the aluminum build, BoomSound speakers, and Sense is very good and fluid unlike many other Android skins; not to mention it adds some functionality with the useful gestures. Only thing I can gripe about the M8 is the camera being such a low mega(ultra)pixel count, and the power button being on top. Good thing the gestures allow you to wake the device without having to use power button. I say switch if you don't take many pictures with the rear facing camera. According to some reviewers like Android Authority and PocketNow, the battery on this is really good despite it having a smaller battery.
I did. Got s5 first, used for a day. Wasn't impressed, even bored would say. Sent it back and got M8 instead, very pleased so far. Even camera is not as bad as I thought it would be

If you can tolerate the touch wiz lag and stuttering, then you will be fine with S5. If you want buttery smooth perf then get the M8. I have the unlocked version of M8 and got the T-Mobile S5 on launch day. Just returned the S5 back yesterday because I can't tolerate lag and stutter on such powerful hardware. It's really a shame, S5 has such an awesome screen and camera but Samsung ****ed up again in software. You will not notice it immediately but after 2 or 3 days the software starts bogging the device down.
On the M8, have been using for almost 20 days and it runs buttery smooth still.

I did the exact same thing as you and have no regrets at all. The m8 is hands down the more polished phone and already has some really great roms over in the regular m8 forums that are compatible with the T-mobile version. Do it!
Had a Galaxy 1 & 3 and I was a big fan. I found the 5 to be pretty boring. That doesn't mean it isn't a quality phone, there just isn't any distinction between itself and it's predecessors.
My last HTC was the G1 so I thought I would switch it up and I am glad I did.
I have been a loyal Sammy customer since the vibrant days. Last year in Jan I bought a Nexus device and it was nice. Again I went back to Sammy, until the LG G2. What an amazing device, smooth UI and it was different. Then HTC One M8 came out and decided to give in and give HTC again after the HTC Sensation. WOW. HTC got it right, the build quality and the way the device actually feels in your hands is just awesome. I have experienced 0 lag in the last few days I have owned the device. In love with it so much so, next week jumping the wife's S4 to the M8.
Make the jump you will definitely will not be disappointed.
Just my 2 cents.
Oh yea the one thing I loved about the G2 is the knock off feature. With being able to wake the M8 via knock, I installed Nova Prime and downloaded screen off and now I have full knock off and on.
I have the M8 and love it, Coming from S3/S4/Note 3 my biggest issue was Touchwiz and the sometimes buggy software like Watch on. SInce you root and do customs ROMS I would say just stick with S5.
My wife is making the switch today. There are a few reasons outside of the fact hers was defective.
Speaker - the whole back of the phone rattles while the speaker is playing. Its so bad it can be felt outside a case. Not to mention its just horrible.
The build leaves a lot to be desired. It looks and feels real cheap. The software is buggy and has a lot of slowdowns, its preloaded with tons of useless stuff and the camera, while good has its downsides.
She had the M7 and loved it except for the purple flare issue and the battery life. They fixed both of those on the M8.

I had s2 s4 and note 3 , now I am a happy owner of m8. Galaxies are good phones but this m8 is at another level.... The speakers sound, the camera, and the build quality I like it better.

I'm coming from Samsung, note 3...I've had a galaxy, galaxy 2, galaxy 4, note, note 2, note 3. Get the m8 you will not be disappointed. Sense 6 is so much better than touchwiz. I usually put nova launcher on my Samsung's but never had to on the m7 or m8. Just my opinion.
Viper One M8

I gotta agree with everybody else. The last Sammy I had was the note 2 and I hated TouchWiz. I feel like Samsung tries to cram as much gimmicky software crap into their phones with ends up just being a cluttered mess. The S5 may have a slightly better camera but the M8 kicks its ass in every other category besides battery capacity. And trust me the camera is not that bad. It can still take some nice shots. The M8 is such a beautiful phone and def got it right in terms of design. The Galaxy line seems to be the same phone with hardware bumps. Seriously play with a S4 and S5 side by side, besides the slight design change its hard to tell them apart...

TL;DR Watch This > M8 vs S5 performance
As someone that comes from the S2, S3, Note 2, Note 3 Devices. I can tell you that one of the things that finally put me over the edge was how buggy Touchwiz got in the end (with Note 3).
I could never have looked at the M8 as a downgrade from even the S5. I did not own the S5, however you have to consider more than just specs. My biggest worry was picture quality. I have the phone and don't worry about it because it takes as good a picture as I would like. I use the camera more than anything and am really picky so this was surprising.
The battery is great (comparable to my Note 3 which was bigger battery), the build is unrivaled, the sound (if you love music, the aux and speakers are unmatched) is crazy and finally the OS. Touchwiz was starting to get buggier with every iteration. I have seen it with the S5 and there is plenty of evidence.
The M8 simply does not lag. Whatever you throw at it, however fast you are, no matter how fast you text, no matter what you try to do, it doesn't slow down. The Note 3 would hiccup, freeze, and all sorts of stuff.
Also, I had second thoughts in the reverse. I thought should I have gone with the S5? Was it the better phone? This helped put my mind at ease > Opinion about S5 inferior abilities
Get the M8, enjoy it's speed, build and awesome power, forget about brand loyalty. Brands should earn your loyalty, not get it for free or because you are 'used' to them.
I am coming from a s4 to the M8. I also had the S2 and S3. Samsungs software has gotten so bloated. Today is my 2nd full day with my M8. Normally I would be at around 60 percent battery if I am lucky. Today I am still at 82% with medium usage 10 hours off charger. That is with NFC Bluetooth GPS and Wifi on. (I have a pebble.) While I can not a test to the S5 I will say I love the M8 the software is just cleaner and easier to use. I don't get lost in the menu.
I owned the S5 for a week before I went to the M8. The S5 was probably the worst samsung phone I have had and I have used the S2, S3, S4, Note and Note 3. The UI had so much lag and when playing games it would completely freeze up on me, speaker was horrible, ton of useless bloat and the feel was very cheap. I could literally hold the phone at opposite corners and the whole thing would flex with almost no effort. For me Samsung has lost me to HTC unless they decide to come up with better speakers and premium build quality.
Tested the S5 when I was decided to buy the M8 didn't convinced me Camera could be better yes but it's not bad... hearth rate sensor you can have it on HTC also with an app so S5 is just plastic phone with Band Aid look!
Haven gotten the HTC One X then the M7 i thought this year I'd give the galaxy s5 a go. The camera was the biggest selling point for me, plus the waterproofness. After a few days I was super over it. It wasn't anything special, and switching to t-mobile where you end up financing the full price of the phone I wasn't satisfied. And I knew I wouldn't be happy, and it didn't feel worth committing to a device for a price tag of $660. The second I held the M8 I knew I made the right decision. Everything felt way smoother. I prefer the screen, aluminum design, and of course boom sound. Why its not a standard on all handsets is beyond me.
The Moto X+ might temp me though.. I love the idea of always listening. My xbox one has spoiled me. I feel like all electronics should respond to your voice without having to fidget with any buttons. The One+ also looks killer..
For now though I am very happy with my M8. Theres no doubt its the best android option out there at the moment.

Are you going to keep your G4?

Having previously owned the G2 and G3, I was looking forward to the G4, however personally the camera is the only reason why I stick with it. Everything else seems like a downgrade from the G3, especially in the looks and feel. I'm glad we have root and Xposed which helps greatly, but going from the G2 to the G3 showed a large decline in dev support, and seeing as how it's been several months since release and we still have no custom ROMs makes it seem like there is going to be very little dev support going forward, even if we eventually get custom ROMs.
I don't remember wanting a new phone so quickly the last 2 years, but I've been anxiously awaiting the new phones this fall to see if there is something else that I'd like more. I'm leaning towards either the Moto X Pure or new Nexus.
Is anyone else disappointed enough in either the phone or dev support that they are looking to replace their G4 earlier than usual?
For most people the G4 is one heck of a phone, but for those of us who hang out here, no development = no fun.
I do like the G4 for the most part. It has it's issues though. Particularly the Verizon one more so from all I've read.
I mainly am bothered by the touchscreen issues. So many missed taps or swipes registering as taps instead and opening things I meant to just swipe across or whatever. Little bit of lag but it's workable.
Coming to it from the Galaxy S4 it was definitely an upgrade regardless. The only thing that really stopped me from buying the S6 edge was the piddly battery and it not being changeable. Now that the S6 edge + is out and they've beefed up the battery, in hindsight if it was released at the same time I would have bought that instead because I did like the S4 for it's time.
That's the tech world for you though, you buy something new that's the best that day and something (arguably) better comes out right around the corner.
Every point I was going to make has been covered.
The Samsung development overshadows LG development, 2 to 1.
Definitely will be a consideration on the next purchase.
Take note LG, we wont be fooled again.
I was going to sell my G4 now, but not really excited about anything out there. Probably waiting for the new Motorola X Pure. Checked selling prices on swappa and I will already lose $100 or more if I sell now. Maybe I shouldn't wait..
I already got the galaxy s6 edge+ and have the moto x pure arriving soon. The development in this and the main G4 section bores me, so i recently listed my G4 on Swappa. Time will tell if i list my Samsung, but I should at least be good with the moto for a while!
If I wasn't trying to save money, I would consider the MXP. That said, even though there isn't a thriving development community for it, the G4 works pretty well for my needs since root and Xposed are available for it and haven't been giving me any issues.

I remember reading that the Note 5 and I assume S6 Edge + are not able to be unlocked/rooted on Verizon and AT&T, as Samsung has incorporated that into Knox that the phones will no longer work if modified (or something along those lines).
I miss the days when pretty much all phones, especially flagships, had tons of dev support and were rooted quickly. Seems like as time goes on pretty much only Nexus and unlocked global phones get any support.
Bailed for Nexus 6...couldn't take not having roms....... my wife is happy with it.
Made the exact same decision. I don't miss that phone at all. Nexus 6 may be older but it still is a kick a** phone

So far love the G4, but it's only been a week, not noticing any issues thus far. Coming from a bad experience with a Sony Z3V and Verizon, who finally agreed to give me a new phone and I picked the G4. My biggest concern was the battery but I'm getting 2 days with moderate use.
Yes, for now.
In general the phone is pretty good I'm just disappointed that there is no unlocked boot-loader and custom recovery as yet for the VS986. I hope it becomes available in the near future.

I have a Galaxy S4 and trying to decide between the S6 and G4. What has me most considering the G4 over the S6 is the lack of removable battery and expandable memory on the S6. Reviews I have seen mostly rate the S6 higher as far as specs. But I can live with a slightly slower performing phone if it has other features more important to me. I don't care what material the phone is made of because I always put them in cases to protect them. You say the G4 is definitely an upgrade. What about the G4 in your opinion make it better then the S4? Also that screen issue you were referring to, is that typical of the G4 or an issue with some owners? I would appreciate feedback from any other former S4 owners. Thanks.
Pretty unhappy with my G4, even after rooting and trying several fixes for existing issues. The battery life is poor at best, the touch screen misses and issues are awful and on top of that, general lag persists throughout the day. Overall, I WANT to like the phone. I like the camera, the shape, etc. I really think we need the bootloader unlocked to have users fix these issues that LG and VZW cannot. I'm stuck on the edge plan, so I guess I'm waiting.

Well to be honest as I write this I'm working on getting myself into the S6 edge + or Note 5 now that they've come out. More on that later.
But, coming from the S4 back in June my contract happened to be up for upgrade on the exact release date of the G4, I would have been totally content to stick with the Galaxy line had they not gotten away from the removable battery and SD card support in the S6, and the battery that is in the S6 really is pretty tiny. That was the deciding factor for me buying the G4 much like you're concerned with. Other than those things the S6/S6 edge would have been perfect to me. I decided to try something new and went with the G4 on the basis they had the removable battery and SD card slot (and the changeable backs as a bonus).
Naturally with there being two years between my S4 and the G4, the G4 is faster and smoother, has a better display, better camera. That's just advancements in technology at work. Down the line we'll look at the same specs as today's flagship phones as minor leagues.
Read around here and just about any phone forums, you'll see the same things echoed to varying degrees:
S6: Piddly battery life, no SD card, no removable battery, great looking screen, fast, arguably best camera, great build with the glass/metal, quick charge/wireless charge built in
G4: Bigger swappable battery, great (larger) screen, fast but some models lag depending on carrier, arguably best camera, nice changeable backs, wireless charge not built in, some models with touch screen response issues
Like I said you'll read the same things everywhere and just have to decide what works best for you. If you're the type that prefers to swap the battery for a quick boost to 100%, don't buy the S6 obviously. If you like the idea of using wireless charging, don't buy the G4 obviously. If you prefer a smaller screen go with the S6, if you want big go G4 (Or the newer Note 5 or S6 edge + of course), if you want to try a new button scheme go G4 (I do like the rear buttons) or if you like traditional side buttons go Samsung. It's a tough call really, you get what I mean, either way it's been years since the S4 so no matter what you're going to get a better phone due to the advancements both companies have made. Compared to the S4 both the S6 and G4 will fly through processing, have better displays, have better cameras, and be more efficient. You just have to decide which features are more important to you.
Now, I know you didn't mention the newer S6 edge + or Note 5 but they've been released since the G4 was released and in hindsight if they'd been released all at the same time I'd have chosen one of them over the G4 and am probably switching over to one of them soon as I can. As I said earlier the only reason I went with the G4 over the original S6 was the tiny battery in the S6, and in the newer two phones Samsung has beefed up that department to match the G4 at 3000mah. So that said, I'm probably looking to get back into a Samsung, because when it was in it's prime, I really did love my S4.
My main gripe with the G4 is the touch screen response, which like I said if you read around you will see it is pretty common and no known fix has been brought to light. It seems pretty hit or miss but it is really frustrating.
Hopefully I helped and answered some of your questions. If not feel free to let me know.

Cwey I very much appreciate your detailed and very helpful reply. After reading it this morning I decided to get the S6. I picked one up a 64gb version a couple of hours ago and my wife got a iPhone 6S (she loves apples ). I figure with 64gb's SD card memory expansion is no big deal. I had to give up my unlimited data because I'm doing the 24 month no-contract phone payment service. I really don't use a lot of data anyway. I was on the old service plan paying for minutes and text. I'm actually paying about $10 a month less with unlimited calls and text. I looked into other phones also like the soon to be relesed Nexus 5X but the specs don't seem to be that great. The S6 Edge+ and Note 5 are too big for my taste. The larger size of the G4 is also a negative for me. Also I have the S6 with the OE2 firmware which can be rooted. The updated OF1 cannot be rooted at this time. I just have to be careful not to allow the firmware update to go through. Thanks again.
I got a Nexus 6 as well. Great phone even though it is old now. Also got a One M9 and sent it off to Java Card S-Off'ed. Also a good phone with custom roms. I miss the G4 camera a bit but nothing else.
I'll be looking at the Nexus 5X or the Moto X Pure as a replacement for the G4
I'm not sure how long i will keep it, because the digital products update so fast!

Trading the S6 edge+ for the new S7 Edge

So the S7 Edge just announced
5.5" - Restyled S6 Edge with 2.5D glass all sides.
Water resistant - 3600 Mah Battery - Kickass Exynos 8800 performance
MICROsd - Kickass new camera - and marshmallow of course.
I dont mind giving away those 0.2" inches although i just bought the phone a month ago.
I am going to keep using my S6 edge + because it's too early to upgrade to S7 although it had returned some great features for some people like Micro SD, Water Resistant, and bigger battery capacity (3600mAh). For those who eagerly wants those feature, then you can upgrade to S7. I better keep myself until they release the next flagship in August which surely be Samsung Galaxy Note 6 or maybe together with Samsung Galaxy S7 edge +. If Samsung give us a 4000 mAh battery, then I am going to be really happy..
The battery in S7 is 3600 mAh which is 20% larger than S6 edge + which had 3000 mAh. However, with Fast Charging technology, charging up to 20% is just take about 15 mins then I am able to live it.
Micro SD up to 200 GB. It is optional for some people.. I don't save a lot of media (music, video) in my phone and I still have 70% storage capacity left in my 64 GB so it doesn't bother me a lot. However, it is a huge improvement for some people because many users complaining about the lost of micro SD slot in 2015 flagship.. The rest is up to you..
Dust & Water Resistant is also optional. My previous device was Galaxy S5 which have same features. However, I was rarely got my device wet because most of time I was inside a clean room. For those who brings their smartphone to wet environment, the return of this feature is a giant leap.. Keep in mind that the water resistant is different than water proof and I have just saw that the charging port in S7 didn't have a protector like in S5. I wonder how Samsung deal with it if the port is damaged with water and got corrosive, will it still work perfectly?
It is my opinion about S6 edge + and S7 edge.. You guys are able to decide based on your needs..
Thats a very reasonable and logical comparison, well done sir.
Its still too early to judge I agree. Especially since we need further in depth review of the new Exynos and the new SD820. I hope its not another flop for Qualcomm.
And you are correct again, its much wiser to wait for August.
There are several reasons why i'm gonna skip the Galaxy S7 edge, because i do have the Galaxy S6 edge+ that is a very nice phone to begin with.
Now, there are some few reasons why i feel that the Galaxy S7 edge are a downgrade in from the Galaxy S6 edge+.
1. The screen is 5.5 inch on the Galaxy S7 edge over 5.7 inch on the Galaxy S6 edge+.
2. The new 12 MP camera takes pictures in the 4:3 ratio. You have to take the camera all the way down to 9.1 MP before you can take a picture in the 16:9 ratio. So i'll think i will keep my 16 MP 16:9 ratio camera on my Galaxy S6 edge+ over that
That's the only downsides i can find with the Galaxy S7 edge over the Galaxy S6 edge+ so far.
But yeah, i wont upgrade my phone before the Galaxy S8 edge+ comes out (if it comes out ofc). If not i will be going for the Galaxy Note 7 that will come out later in 2017.

agree and will also keep my edge+
I'm gonna trade it in also. for me this phone is a little uncomfortable to hold cuz of the flat back. anytime a manufacturer can shave a few mm from the width, yet retain top performance that's a win in my book. in this case, they managed not only to do that but also make it more ergonomic and with a better battery. so yea, I'm trading mine in. that's the beauty of T-mobile jod plan anyways.
Not trading mine in and not just because my phone is only 2 months old.
I love my edge plus and the new features on the 7 are better they aren't a big enough deal for me to change my already great phone and lose lot of money in the process.
I also like 16x9 16mp photos and bigger screen.
I voted no because my upgrade mobile will be the note 6.
I came from note 4 and I am used to the spen. I love my s6 edge+, but If I change this incredible mobile, it would be a Note 6
i love to upgrade to galaxy S7 edge+ Plus becuase of water proof and bigger battery and SD slot. plus you get a free Gear VR if you pre-order. and you get 3 days early then everyone else.
but i have a 2 years contract and i have to wait after 2 years when my contract is finished. by then Note 7 will be out.
I would consider trading my s6 edge plus even though its minor upgrade.
Hoping that a Note 6 will appear this year in Europe! Would trade one for that one. Would love to have a Note 5 but since it's not available in Europe i got the Edge+
16/9, 16mp photos! That's all I shoot in, I can't stand 4/3
So. I'll keep my 6 edge+ until the Note 6 later this year (I do miss the stylus!) Or the S8 next year.
And I'm getting the G5 whatever the case - it intrigues me! I want the robot, and I want to fly a drone....
And that VR headset.

Very very minor things done on this device. Absolutely nothing worth upgrading for as there is nothing new - Same can be said for the last 3 generations of mobiles from every manufacturer.
They could put 3 8 core chips in the S7 and you wouldn't notice the difference over the S6 edge +. Hell, my standard 3 year old note 3 is almost on par with my S6 edge +, how much better can it honestly get? It's just a phone and the technology inside has peaked for now. Nothing grounding breaking being done, just minor resolution bump which is pointless given your eye can't physically see a difference and a minor camera bump which again is pointless, they're never going to replace DSLR's or mirrorless systems, they've just nice 'point and shoot' sensors.
Phones have peaked people - save your money and stick with what you've got till something 'new' comes out. Too many people on here upgrading just to say they have the latest. More money than sense!
If we are keep chasing the update, it will end up in regret for every 6 months.. Same ecosystem between Samsung, Apple, LG, etc.. They are going to keep inovate somehing new.. The best moment to upgrade the high end smartphone is 2 years IMO.. Talk about S6 edge+, if we place it with S7 edge side by side, there is a very minor difference in terms of performance.. Everything have their pros and cons, as long as it is worth to keep, then use it.. Personally, I am really satisfied with my S6 edge+ performance..
I will be selling and moving to the LG G5

hahahaha...I'm thinking of that move also
I was very tempted to upgrade! The biggest reason is the battery capacity and overall efficiency of processor whilst being put off because of the -0.2 inches. In addition to this I thought the screen quality would be a big improvement as was the case with the Note 5 and GS6 EDGE+ over the standard GS6/GS6 EDGE.
Upon my visit the Carphone Warehouse in the UK yesterday I saw the GS7 EDGE in person and can confirm that the screen is very marginally brighter and has marginally better contrast however we are talking about something extremely difficult to perceive (maybe 10% or less difference). Other than that I can confirm that personally I like the design and more importantly size of the S6 EDGE+ over that of the GS7 EDGE (don't get me wrong the GS7 EDGE is a beautiful phone still).
I may very well upgrade however it won't be until Samsung has confirmed that there is no successor to the S6 EDGE+ in August. I am pleased I got to see the device in person otherwise I would have been dreading not having waited for the GS7 EDGE which I no longer do.
Hope this helps others.

I totally agree with you 100% I do... but upgrading to the latest phone no matter how small the change, is a total addiction for me and it's so got a hold of me! I never buy anything second hand or a last gen model. I even hate that here in the UK the licence plate on cars shows the age of the car. My car now tells people it's 2yrs old and even though it looks pristine and only 10000 miles on the clock, it really irks me that it is no longer the latest and greatest.
I love my S6 edge+ but as soon as the S7 was announced I realised I was no longer owning the latest Samsung phone. It saddened me and I know that's pathetic!

Lol, but you're anti Apple? Yet your last sentence is what keeps Apple in business, no change at all, but HAVE to have it, regardless.
Based on my experience with cars, older ones are much better than newer, too much pointless tech built into newer cars that goes wrong (and it DOES go wrong) I have a heavily modified 2002 Volvo S40 T4 with around 370bhp that's now on 186,000 miles and runs like new - I'd like to see any of Volvos newer cars do that!
Newer isn't always better and most of the time, isn't worth it.
But each to their own

S7 v Note 5

I played with the s7 and edge today at Best Buy. Wow. Beautiful and you can feel they are an evolution from the Note 5 and s6. I can't wait to see how they take that design and implement it into the Note 6.
I have a S7 Edge on pre-order... I can't wait!
I was at BestBuy today and played with the S7 and S7 Edge for a while. I was not impressed at all. The physical appearance is not much different than the S6. I compared it to my Note 5, and I just don't see significant different in performance. Perhaps, the S7 demo unit is not yet well polished? But, I don't see any reason to upgrade, let just say not worth the upgrade. At least not for me.

Not worth the upgrade from my Note 5, basically the S7 is a copy of Note 5 with just a few improvement, not saying that S7 is not good, i am sure it is, but to upgrade my Note 5, i will wait on Note 6 which will be way better then S7, or if not to impress on the Note 6, then I'll hold on to my Note 5 till next year for the Note 7.

I went to Best Buy today too.
What impressed me the most was how much smaller the S7 Edge is compared to my Note 5.
Yes, I know the screen is 0.2 smaller but the form factor and size was really nice.
The screen appeared a tad bit nicer on s7 Edge and definitely brighter.
Regardless not enough to upgrade for me. I'll keep the Note 5 for now.
Same. Just looking forward to the note6
I was gonna upgrade to the s7 edge, but decided against it after playing with an s6 edge plus. I just don't like the curved screen, distorts 1/4 inch on each side of the screen, and make it really hard to view things.
Neat design, but too annoying for me.

I agree. I reckon Samsung should create a zoom buttton, like Netflix has, that goes from full screen to just the 'flat' area. It would still look pretty good.
Well for any T-Mobile or Sprint on the S7 or S7 Edge, they finally locked there bootloaders, tightly locked down, no more root for those phone as well there fun in rooting are over, i knew this was gonna happen sooner or later, so now they are in the same boat as AT&T and Verizon is.

T mobile too? Say it isn't so. Unlike you, I never thought T-mobile would go that route. Sad.

Yeah lots in T-Mobile Forum for S7 and S7 Edge are very pisted, Like i always said nothing lasts for long was a matter of time for it to happen to T-Mobile and Sprint.

My guess on the T-Mobile thing is that it is possible that Samsung Forced their hand. Samsung seems to be trying to take the route of better security screw the dev. community. Kinda disappointing really.
The only real difference I can see that the S7 phones add is adding back the ability to use external storage.
Looks like I will be looking for a different phone manufacturer next go round that isn't completely locked down and doesn't suck. Very disappointing though considering I like the Note series.

I always felt that skipping a generation on Sammy devices is always a better payoff if you can wait. S7 in silver is awful pretty though.

I have the S7 on Verizon and the Note 5 on AT&T. Nearly no difference besides MM and the always on time/date display. Cameras both are good. S7 a tad better in low light. Note 5 better color reproduction. MicroSD is preference just like the S pen. My note 5 is 64gb so not incredibly important to me. S7 Is more comfortable to hold since it's smaller. Still prefer the larger screen on my note 5.
My verdict is they're nearly the same phone in terms of agility. S7 is what the S6 should have been. Note 5 is still more professional in my book. Just depends on what your use cases are. I use remote desktop from MS and chrome remote desktop daily and the larger screen and S pen make all the difference. I do like the slightly curved glass edges on the display of the S7, which is the single thing I wish the Note 5 did have. I can tell you that you will miss your Note 5 within an hour of using the S7 Due to the smaller screen.
The Edge series is pure gimmick and a complete rip off in terms of pricing.
I couldn't decide so I got both. Damn you AT&T!!!!!!!!

What are you thinking about getting? I am torn between going back to an iPhone or finding an Android phone that can have bloatware removed and gets updates fast. It seems like you have to compromise on anything you do with Android when you get a carrier branded device.

That may be true on getting rid of bloatware but then you have to deal with AT&T, or another carrier, and Samsung, or another manufacturer, on getting updates for your device.

Please convince me to buy the 5T [emoji848]

Ok I'm in a dilemma with 2 phones thinking of buying and need convincing op5t is the one! for £449 new may push boat out and go for 8GB model £499 , but I also like the Samsung S8+ that I can get in immaculate condition 2nd hand for same £449 but I only like the S8+ for the screen and few extras it has over op5T I don't like the placement of fingerprint reader either , we all no op5T out performs in speed tests but S8+ not that far behind really so that doesn't bother me to much but I do like op5T stock feel os over lagwizz , so do I go for looks with S8+ or performance with op5T I can't decide and wondered if any op5T owners ditched the S8+ in favour for 5T and was it a good choice ,[emoji44] cheers

Week ago I've swapped S8+ for 5t and: LAG free, fast, amazing face unlock, good fingerprint location, I hate s8+ bezels- always was typing 'something' else, 5t much better feeling in your hand, cast to TV work seamlessly not 'sometimes'. I wouldn't go back even for £1000
Do what you want. It's your money.
5T for life
You won't regret getting the OP5t. It's an amazing fast, butter smooth experience from the first second on! [emoji1303]

My last 5 phones was Samsung's and this year I just bought a op5t. Sincerelly, I regret! Too much issues with the OP5T.
Bluetooth connectivity is the worst, shutter, crackles sounds all the time
Camera is not as good like samsungs
For 8gb ram my phone lags too much... And come apps I need to wait like 5 sec until they actually runs.
FB messenger is freezing a lot
The audio recording for whats app or Facebook is horrible!!! When you try to send voice clips with music is just awful
Next time I will prefer to pay a little more for a Samsung but thats things never happens to me in the last 5 years.
dont buy a 5t you dont deserve one
I don't know what best player is talking about. But I send back two 5t devices because of a not good white showing display... now tried third time with sandstone white and everything is fine. I wouldn't buy the cheaper versions anymore, because it seems they are not using the best quality there...
but buying a samsung? You must be kidding. Did you see any droptests? Do you want to be treated like a rooter just because trying to give the stupid bixby button a reason? Want Samsung UI? I know the S8 is sexy but come on ...

Right, I just swapped S8plus for OnePLus 5t. I was driving my car for over 3 month with no Bluetooth because crappy ver5 samsung. 6 months with no Bluetooth streaming to my 3 months old Yamaha amp. S8+ freezing and shuttering almost everywhere. Camera- better but OVER saturated. Won't talk about crappy edges, pressing wrong keyboard button is standard. Even keyboards sliding up lags!!! AND Why the h...l they duplicating all good working services- Bixby etc.
Thanks all it didn't take much convincing after previously having the op5 I knew it's a good device I think I was just attracted to the screen on S8+ but you all just confirmed what I'd expected so just gone ahead and ordered the op5T 8GB from O2 arriving tomorrow thanks again for helping me decide [emoji16][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

I've been using my 5T for about two weeks now and I know a friend with an S8+. In my opinion, after using both the phones, I feel like the 5t offers more bang for your buck. I mean the s8+ is good, but you're getting this amazing phone for so much cheaper. The fast face unlock and fp scanning, close to stock Android experience, and snappy performance due to the abundant ram. I really dislike the whole Samsung UI. And it'd be great if they allowed you to remap the Bixby button to something like the Google assistant.
One thing I gotta give to the s8+ though is that it produced much better pictures when compared to my 5t. The screen does look slightly better too. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
It's arrived glad I made right choice, man it's blazzin fast and face I'd is so quick and screen is really nice [emoji7][emoji106]
