Hi
I can't get ambient display to work. Anyone else with the phone got it working?
It works for me but I don't use it because it drains battery

It works for me and I use it always.
If it still doesn't work you can replace it by Play Store apps such as Twilight or Dimmer. 😃

Anyone else finding autobrightness for the LCD to be essentially useless?
I can be in my room with the lights off at night, and it never seems to turn itself down.

I just rooted my phone. Used Android Commander, and changed the thermald.conf file. Here's a guide.
Works awesome.

Hi there, guys. I wonder about strange problem on our device. All apps which tracks activity (steps, run etc) doesnt work when screen turn off.
The strange is that stock app called Fitbit working good and track steps even on the screen turn off. Is this a patch for this problem? Please help me. I used Nike Running on my previous phone and this worked well. Now i cant use my lovely app.

That will not help the problem, which is that OTHER apps cannot track when screen is off. I'm having the same problem and would be grateful for any help or advice.
Im also having the same problem. Whats different with the M8?
I'm using Strava to track my bike rides and runs perfectly fine. 9 hours tracking without problem every week.
Has anyone figured out to get light flow to overwrite the settings for the notification light in settings? It seems like my settings from both are working.

How do you set Light flow? On my phone it doesn't work (Oxygen 3.2.0)
Root
by rooting the op3.. i dont know about the unrooted phone.
For me, even with root and playing around with the LED settings, no luck.. I cant get it working unfortunately. The fancy stock colors the OP3 shows (especially for google+ or tapatalk) are dont even make sense to me.

I've been able to get it to work using Xposed/Gravitybox under the Ultimate Notification Control section.

Confirmed! You just need to get used to the colors, but it is working, thanks for this!
I use Light Manager. A little simpler than light flow and works perfectly fine on my OP3.
My light flow (pro) is working fine. Got snapchat glowing yellow whatsapp green and charging light set to red. Seems to be working fine.

Did you turn on accessibility? And what LED control methods do you have on in settings?

I'm sorry I'm not using light flow. It's actually light manager!

Light Flow Pro here in pair with Legacy (to get rid of the notification) and it works fine...as for the legacy however i contacted the developer and it gives me a modified apk that however will be in the play store (or maybe it is yet)

I'm using this combination as well, and it's working.. sort of. When my screen is off, the notification light constantly cycles through all the available colors, just like when you run the test and have to turn the screen off.. only permanent. Not sure why it's happening, never had this issue w/ any previous devices. I did restore my data from previous install, but I've gone through all the settings and checked/unchecked at some point and it's still happening. Thoughts/

I talked with the developer.. It seems that is an Oxygen OS related issue.. He told me that also the s7 edge was having that issue and it was fixed by Samsung with a software update.. On Oxygen I read also some people that has problem with stock led control.. Then probably there is something buggy on our system..
I didn't try any other led app however.. Did you?

Oh that's good to know, thx for sharing. I haven't tried any other app yet, I just disabled LightFlow for now since the constant cycling has to chew up extra battery when the screen is off. I'm also still on 3.1.3, going to upgrade to 3.1.2 and see if that helps.
Just to check, does your moto display work consistently and predictably. Mine seems to work only after i have reset my phone. Subsequently, it just stops. It does not seem to be affect by apps or ambient display settings. Is it a software issue or is mine just faulty?

With Safe mode work well?
oh you're good, yeah, in safe mode, it works (shows the words "safe mode'' when my hand is over the home button). Any idea what the problem might be?
thanks in advance!

Some innocent (maybe) app yet not ready for MM. Start uninstalling. I use App Install Tracker or a launcher that sorts the app drawer by date. See my signature button for Xperia launcher.
Thanks to both of you for your help. With your help, i have managed to isolate the problem: surprise, surprise, when the animation (2nd and 3rd one under Developer Options) is switched off, the Moto Display stops working!

Lol, better already be looking if you want to know what moto display is telling you about!
I don't see it as an option but my phone is doing it somehow :/
As far as I know....there is no ambient display on Zenfone 5z

I would be very much interested to see a picture of that feature working on Zenfone 5z.

i dont think so its a ambient display, it is screensaver that sometimes shows up. i am also facing same, so just turn off your screensaver in display->screensaver
It's curious, yesterday an WhatsApp notification appeared at my lockscreen as a ambient display notification.
I didn't even downloaded some application to do it and now it's not happening anymore.
It was an isolated event lol
