Update Fails - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.
I need your help please!
I have read every page on this forum and still no further with the Stock update for HTC One M8s.
As far as i know, my modelid: 0PKV10000 and cidnum: ORANG001.
Therefore, i chose to download: 0PKVIMG_M8_QL_UL_L50_SENSE60_Orange_UK_1.11.61.2_R [email protected]_15.00_016_F_release_431629 _signed
Please correct me if the Stock/CID/MID is incorrect.
1. I downloaded the zip file according to my CID/MID from the following location:
> ruu.lalleman.net > HTC_M8S(QL_UL) > Firmware (Expert) > Firmware Crypted (Original HTC)
0PKVIMG_M8_QL_UL_L50_SENSE60_Orange_UK_1.11.61.2_R [email protected]_15.00_016_F_release_431629 _signed
2. I renamed the file name to 0PKVIMG.zip and then copied on to my formatted (FAT32 & exFAT) SD card.
3. I powered off my phone and inserted the SD card.
4. I then booted into Bootloader.
5. Fastboot AC was showing and HBOOT highlighted, I pressed Power button and it started reading the SD card.
I selected Vol Up for Yes to start Update process, and then everything on the screen was automatic.
I have taken 4 photos (attached) of the automatic update process. (excuse the poor quality photos due to light).
At the very end of the update process, you can see that the update has completely failed.
I read somewhere on the forum that within the zip file there is a rom file. Unfortunately the zip file does NOT contain the rom file. It only contains the following files:
android-info.txt
boot_signed.img
cache.img
dzdata_16g.hdr
dzdata_16g.img
dzdata_32g.hdr

Any Progress?
Hey, I've come across the same issue.
I've got an HTC One M8s from the UK (Orange/EE).
My phone (out of the blue stopped) booting into the OS and just sits on a blank screen.
Did you find a fix for this problem?
If so, would you mind sharing the solution, please?

The OP tried to manually flash a zip that they downloaded themselves. Did you do that?
Also, you don't have the same version (region/carrier). So again, another difference, so it's not the "same" issue.
You should describe specifically what happened, not just say it's the "same issue". Since in every case (downs, maybe hundreds) I've seen folks say it's the "same issue", it never is exactly the same. Did it happen "out of the blue" or did it happen when trying to update (topic of the thread)? Conflicting info, makes it hard for anyone to help.
Also, please don't quote a whole wall of text, just to post a few sentences; which clutters up the thread. I know quting the previous post is default when responding. But simply delete what isn't directly relevant to your issue, before posting.

Are there any files around that i can use?
I am kinda lost in the process...
Thanks in advance,
I've been thinking of going back to stock to get the latest update and then go back to ARHD! But i need some confirmation on this.
I am learning/reading myself into the getting back to stock procedure using the guide mike refers to in his ARHD post. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618 )
I have to go by the first method i guess, since method 2 and 3 are a no go. Can't find the RUU needed for method 2. And the nandroid backup i had done before flashing custom recovery and rom got deleted once all that worked fine!
So...
I've downloaded the following as mentioned in the guide. ( http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.nl/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html )
- Download stock odexed 1.54.4015
- Download stock recovery 1.54.401.5
Procedure should be as below, if i am correct.
1. Place (One_M8_1.54.401.5_odexed.zip) file on virtual SDCard.
2. Get (recovery.img) file from Flash_recovery_1.54.401.5.rar and place it in fastboot folder. -- Or should i unrar the whole package and run the batch file as step 4.!?
3. Boot device in recovery, install zip (One_M8_1.54.401.5_odexed.zip) file.
4. Reboot device in bootloader, use cmd <fastboot flash recovery recovery.img>
5. Relock bootloader, use cmd <fastboot oem lock>
6. Reboot device? Get updates etc...
Any feedback please...? I am kinda worried I **** things up!
Above worked, no OTA though... Kept searching for updates, unlocked bootloader tried again and said there are no updates available.
So dumb that i've deleted the stock nandroid backup!
Guess i'll never really find out what version I originally had.

First of all, get rid of your serialno as well as your imei.
Second of all, what!?!
Exactly what is your problem?
I will help/guide you.
But what you posted doesn't really tell the problem you are having.
The getjar is so unnecessary.
NOOBS PAY ATTENTION TO THAT LAST LINE
Just post your issue, and if the person helping you needs more info; AND ASKS FOR A GETJAR, that's when you post it.
So........
Exactly what is your issue?
I got the phone in htc logo mode. When I went recovery mode it was in to some custom recovery. I then check the info of phone using fastboot. What got in fastboot is posted above. You can't manually install OTA.zip when your device is S-On.
You need stock recovery installed then let the system download and install the OTA.
I have all the files needed for your device here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55322461&postcount=1895

Sensor_hub ... Damaged ... Any solution ?

Excellent, you're on the international version. However, your post includes some private information (unique identifiers) that -for your privacy and safety - shouldn't be posted. Please, either delete your post, or edit it to remove the serial number and imei.
Many people have complaints about the latest update to marshmallow, with similar system problems. For example, sensors not working properly, camera malfunction, screen malfunction, inaccessible internal & external memories, and or, sudden death
My proposed solution is simple: RE-flash your firmware & rom from stock source, then hardreset your phone to factory condition.
Cheers.

Following is a link to HTC's official stock RUU, and instructions to flash it. This will install your phone's current firmware/software from scratch.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960687057
To flash the RUU zip file:
A. You need to put it at the root of your SD CARD and rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip (first character is a zero, and careful not to rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip.zip)
B. Turn your phone off, then start it into bootloader. It will recognize the 0P6BIMG.zip file and give you instructions in RED for proceeding forward.
C. Follow the instructions in RED to flash. You will lose all data as the RUU will format all partitions.
Cheers
shirreer posted the best way to flash it, so I'm just gonna add here, I bought a GSM M8, originally an Australian variant (0P6B11000) and I S-OFF'd it and converted it to the Intl version with 6.12.401.4 and it's very stable, everything works fine, including double tap, flashlight, auto rotate and all other features. Only thing that sucks is the extremely horrible battery life, which was somewhat fixed with a re-calibration, but it still drains.
Ok i am gonna trying it AGAIN actually. Already done your solution. Last time i have done this, it was bypassing the sensor_hub, which is super weird. But i'll let you know. Downloading it right now, and going to flash it soon.
Edit After Flashing :
Sensor_hub; TP (2); SBL1 (3) are bypassed....
So yea... still same situation i flashed it as you said and explained. Sensor hub is bypassed. I hard reset as you said. Nothing changed... So basically .... i am screwed ....
No one has an answer for me ?..... Come on guys .... there must be something .... FYI bluetooth not working i think.

My M8S looks totally dead

Hello people
I got a M8S from my friend few days ago and I was trying to update to 6.0 but failed.
After that my phone became crazy and slow so I did factory reset but it was the same.
Now I'm stuck in fast boot and can't do anything. Nothings are working can't even boot (stuck in HTC logo).
When I connect charger phone goes fast boot automatically.
When I select recovery phone goes off and back to fast boot again, factory reset is the same.
I googled this for more than 5 hours yesterday and found RUU file but it stops on sending(0/8).

You have to find the appropriate RUU:

I dont know which one to use, maybe someone else can help you find the right one.

Main problem started with not being able to access my settings, so decided to factory reset the phone. That did not solve the problem and only made it worse. I could not set up the phone again because the settings were still not accessible. So it was now useless. Now I have gone down the route of trying to flash firmware (I am new to this and do not understand all the terminology but I followed these instructions: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/htc/htc-one-m8s/faq/firmware-flash/update-htc-sd/ )
Here is the info from my phone:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 3.19.0.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: [email protected]
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main: 1.21.862.2
(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-ON
(bootloader) imei2: Not Support

(bootloader) product: m8ql_ul

(bootloader) modelid: 0PKV10000
(bootloader) cidnum: VODAP021
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 0mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: on
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: 7900fbfd
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
(bootloader) mfg-name: 0001
The name of the file that I downloaded: 0PKVIMG_M8_Q[email protected]60201_20.05_018_F_release_476996_signed_2_4.zip
I put the zip file on the SD Card (which is formatted to exFAT), renamed it to 0PKVIMG.zip and it shows error "device halted due to large image update fail"
Spent hours searching for an answer or a different download file but I am lost. Please help!

Thanks for the response. The htc website (US) does not seem to have the ROM for my phone (Australia). I have managed to turn it back on and it will start the set up process but I cannot get through it because it will just keep coming up with the error com.android.settings has stopped. Then eventually it will crash. I think this might be due to it being somewhat outdated. I tried clearing the cache, still the same.
Okay, so, I somehow managed to get it up and running again. Connected to HTC Sync Manager. It turns out this HTC is running Android 5.0.2. My settings app is unusable, the icon is called "com.android.settings.setting" and I cannot do much without access to the settings. Any idea how to update to Android 6 via usb/sd card? Would that even fix the settings icon?

Your SD card MUST be formatted to FAT32 to flash an RUU with this method on the M8 series. Format it to FAT32 and try again
