I don't want to unlock the bootloader. All I want is root to run AdAway.
Would you recommend one-click root tools such as KingRoot or KingoRoot? Are they safe? Has anyone tested them? Thanks.
Also wondering if I will be able to install OTAs if i root with those tools.
I know alot of noobie samsung users use that stuff, but its thirdparty warez made from ppl in china and what not, theres been issues a few times when developers found out what happens when you use apps or programs like that, some discovered suspicious apps being installed and hidden during the process some also found data being collected from the phone and sent to server data storages and sold to companies, i wouldnt recomend using apps like that.

I want to know if I can remove the mobilecare app without being rooted? I hate the OTA update prompting, and I'd like it to be deleted. I'm not rooted (had to flashtool the firmware after OTA bricking) but my bootloader is unlocked. R800X. I know I can remove it with Root Explorer or freeze it with Titanium or similar apps, but I've got to re-root it for that. Is this my only option?

Yes, without root you have no write access to /system/

We now have a non-flashing root for the 800x in the developers thread!

I did a few searches in the EVO forum but found nothing specific to my question. Hope this hasnt already been answered.
I have a pretty simple question. If I run the HTC bootloader unlock tool and unlock my phone can I uninstall the sprint apps like nova, sprint football, sprint nascar etc? or is it more involved then that?
After you unlock your phone an install superuser there's many ways to uninstall those apps titanium backup is a great app to use for that

I was trying to not root my phone. MY hope was that I could just unlock the boot loader and that alone would grant me access to delete those apps.

No, you need full root access to remove those, not just an unlocked bootloader.
S-off = nand unlock to flash roms you need to be s-off. To have root is to have superuser and busybox. With revolutionary you get both

if u unlock boot loader you can flash anything you want. So if you take a stock from and delete the apps from it you do not want and then flash it, then u don't need root at all.

thank you, this is what I wanted to know
you can root, then uninstall your apps, then use a pc3600img to flash back to the stock recovery and the s-on tool found here on xda to re lock your hboot then you may also uninstall superuser and no longer have a rooted phone
So I managed to root my phone and disable knox through supersu. After that I froze it using titanium backup but I was wondering if it is safe to fully uninstall it ?
Thanks

Hi
Can you tell us how you gained root access? My device was rooted in 4.1.2 version and after installing 4.3, I started getting error "Unauthorized access to a secured area has been blocked. Tap to learn more." If I use SuperU (which was installed during 4.1.2), it asks me to manually re-root.
I tried going through steps mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538991 but didnt work.
Can you give link to the software and mention the steps to remove Knox or regain root access?
Help would be appreciated.

Yeah he's right. I used this method too. Just remember to update supersu after doing it.

I used method one from that thread. The CF auto root method. Just remember to update supersu afterwards. It'll ask you if you want to disable knox when you open it up after updating.

Perfect!! it worked for me in less than 13sec!!
At first, device took some time to recognise the network, so I was a bit afraid but after 2-3 mins, i could make calls.
I had to install SuperSU separately, and Just as Florad77 mentioned, it disabled KNOX.
Thanks a lot to both of you...
Hi gus,
So I have a little issue I want clarified.
Is there a way to temp root my Nexus 5x? I am receiving this phone tomorrow and I have titanium backup data from my old phone. But since I want the stock updates I don't want to fully stay rooted. I just wanted to block some files in hosts, restore my data and unroot.
Is this possible?
I heard you can just delete superSU and all will be good, is that true? If so how do I do that?
Cheers
The SuperSU app has a 'Complete UnRoot' option in settings, I've personally used it a couple of times. Also, you can install the systemless root version of SuperSU, otherwise, UnRooting may soft brick your phone (as you change the system partition).
You need to read up on systemless root. It will allow you to take OTAs while rooted. There are some stipulations so read the threads carefully.

Hey, guys.
I have an LG G3 D855, but i am using MacBook, not windows. Now, the question is, is there some way to root and do anything thought Mac?
I know for OneClickRoot program, but i don't want to pay them for that, i want to do it on my own. So, if is there any way to root and install ROM (i am looking for Fulmics) let me know, please.
Thanks.
Use KingRoot gain temporary root... Then install Authorec which will give you twrp... Then install rom and profit
