Hello,
Facing this issue a number of times per week.
The phone was fully charged and kept as it is. Saw the charge left as 95%. After few hours of no activity on the phone, I try to unlock and find that it has switched off. Power button press won't start the phone. Had to take out the battery and put it back and then on power button press, phone starts.
Checked the battery level and found that there was a vertical dip of battery level from 84% to 0 and it was like that - till i booted the phone again.
After boot, again the battery level shows at 83%!
This sudden drain of battery to 0 although when phone was sufficient amount of charge has been happening quite a number of times.
Please see this screenshot. Is this due to a bad battery or my phone is "dying"!
Please help and let me know if any more information is required.

I also had the same problem. In order to avoid it I am forced to reboot it on my own! Even I am working on my phone it is shutting down. This happened from the first takju update to 4.2. when I was in yakzu for previous versions I had no problem. If anyone has any idea please let us know.
Thanks in advance...
There have been multiple reports of the phone crashing which is likely causing your battery drain, its not randomly shutting down, its just unresponsive but using more power than if it were running normally.

What do you suggest to do? Have anyone found any solution. Some people suggest a "reset to factory". Will it fix anything?

Hi,
Only one solution I have found to the problem - are you using any app which is using Google Location service?
I was using HD Widgets - uninstalled and found that the problem was gone.
Then found at HD widgets page in Play store, that the problem was with Google location service itself and not any specific app - HD widgets since then, have released a new version compatible to 4.2.1 and there haven't been crash reported.
Now I have disabled the setting of letting an app use Google Location service - that way , no random shutdown, no instant battery drain for me till now.
Additionally you can install Franco kernel on your rooted Nexus - it doesn't have any Sleep of Death issue (unresponsive lock screen).
So recently I've noticed that I can't turn my phone screen off for more than a few seconds without it waking back up almost instantly. I checked out better battery stats and found this.

Does anyone know a way to fix these days excessive wakelocks?
Anyone?
Hi,
I think i have a battery drain problem with my G Pad since the last firmware update (V50020d).
In 10 hours standby I loose round about 5% battery power. (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS turned off)
Before the update there was nearly no standby power consumption, maybe 1% over night.
I tried to solve the problem with a factory reset, but the problem still persists.
I havent rooted the device, so I can only use the PC Version from wakelock detector here from xda.
Maybe this screenshots could help:

I hope you could help me solving this problem.
Greetings Ardion

Have you tried Greenify? its useful.
Sence you're rooted, also try some xposed module like xblast tools which modifies the biuld prop, or Greenify with xposed...
Hi thanks for your answer.
I have not rooted my device.

Try taking our your sdcard and see if the high battery drain overnight goes away. Some folks have noticed that the sdcard is now remounting several times a night and this causes the media server to scan the card over and over again all night resulting in battery drain. If the problem goes away with the removal of the sdcard you at least know what is causing it. Then you can join us in the thread where we are trying to track down what causes the sdcard bad removals....
Ok check your battery status and see if some google services is working in the background and uses some battery

Hi,
@muiriddin
I tried this last night, but the problem is not fixed.
Seems like the micro SD card is not the problem.
But thanks for your advice.
@Jhon998
When i look in the battery statistics it just said 21% Tablet idle.

For how long it eats 21%?
The tablet uses 21% battery in round about 2,5 days standby.
I still could not solve the problem, so I rooted my G Pad with ioroot.
BetterBatteryStats sayed the problem is com.google.android.gms.
See attached screenshots for more information.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Sorry that I do not have anything to offer by ways of an answer, but in what I feel may be a relevant addition to the topic, I've found that my VK810 actually *loses* battery even while it's charging and in use. With the charger hooked up, I can see the percentage dropping steadily even during light tasks such as web browsing, albeit at a slower rate than when it's unplugged.
See this how i left it all night...
So it seems that the msm_otg wakelock is still happening on 4.4.2 Stock ROM when unplugging the phone from a charger without waking it up first. Has anyone found another solution? Usually, I'm good about waking up the phone before unplugging it, but when I don't, it dies over night.
I never get wake locks and I'm on NE4. I even unplug the phone when it's done charging without waking it first. My battery lasts a good 24 hours if not longer. Then again, I am using the Greenify app too.
I use greenify, as well. This is an old Google wakelock that I've never seen a definitive solution for. Are you still using the stock charger?
Where did you get the info that waking up the phone before unplugging it prevents the MSM_OTG wakelock from happening?
Can't say I'm suffering from it really, but I can see it in BBS from time to time and been wonderring what causes it and how to get rid of it ever since I got my i747m. Never found much interesting infos on the subject either...
The info came from various postings around the web. It shows up on most android versions. I've had it on Touchwiz and Cyanogenmod 10 and 11. I've seen it on the Nexus, Sony phones, and others.
guys, i'm experiencing a drainage problem due to otg_default. to be able to discover the problem because it was unloading very fast even when idle. there I installed the bbs and I was able to check. has anyone been through this and managed to solve? thanks.
