Problem syncing Google music downloads to SW3 - Sony Smartwatch 3

Cant for the life of me get google music to work on the SW3 (paired with a S7 Edge running stock marshmallow). Anyone had similar?
Downloaded 2 playlists to my phones internal memory as instructed online, one of my own uploaded music to the service, and one of music i hadnt uploaded (signed up for a google music trial to see if that was the reason).
Phone and watch are connected in the actual wear app fine etc. Set up properly in the google music app settings and can see the playlists both there ready to go to the watch from the 'manage wear downloads' section and my watch shows, opened up the app on the watch and then 'play on wear', eventually after maybe 15 seconds it shows all my available playlists and the 2 playlists id downloaded onto the phone are in orange, but nothing happens after that. No sync. Even though i set it to sync when it asked me when first opened the app on the watch. I can select and deselect playlists and an orange tick card pops up at the bottom of the screen, when i click that it just goes back to the watch main face. Left it to see if it starts but nothing.
Tried factory resetting the watch, uninstalling updates for play music on phone, updating again, clearing cache of the app, even clearing the cache on the phone, watch fully charged or on charge, same with phone, also tried 2 bluetooth headsets to see if it wasnt picking that up right.
Anyone think of anything ive missed (apart from factory resetting the phone)? cheers.

I'm not sure if this will help, but you might try unpairing the watch from the phone and then go into the Google Play Services settings and wipe the Wearable Storage data. Then factory reset the watch and wipe the data on the Android Wear companion app... reboot the phone and watch... and then pair the watch with the phone again.
That should give you a fresh start and hopefully help to get things synced up.

unpaired the watch, went into play services and wiped the wear storage. Factory reset the watch and cleared the data in the wear app and uninstalled it. Rebooted both and set it all up again from scratch. Opened the app on the watch and turned on music sync. Initially said i needed to plug in power which i did, and then it showed the playlists, clicked on the ones i had been testing with and then the orange tick and it goes back to the watch face as before. Checked the settings in the play music app and all looks as it should. Still wont sync. :silly:

Unpaired with S7 Edge, factory reset and setup with my LG G Pad, worked a treat, music sync'd without any issue.
Unpaired, reset etc and set back up fresh with the S7 Edge. Same issues. Arghhhhh!!!
Wonder if its something permissions related on the S7 thats doing it not allowing the transfer of files to the watch. Saying that tested with wear media app and that sync'd across music files fine. Anyone any ideas?

Managed to get this sorted.
Was reading through this
https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/android-wear/DGr1WPiy9Po/Sv6ThhXmDAAJ
And saw a comment about taking out the sd card, so did so and it worked immediately even though play music was saving to the internal storage. Very weird. But glad it's sorted.

Glad to hear that you got it fixed. I'm sure this will help someone else.

There was music files on the sd card but not relating to Google play music, must have been trying to scan this possibly. Who knows. Anyway, yeah hopefully someone finds it useful.

[Q] Google Play Music Sync Issues

TL;DR - Picked up my G4 at T-Mobile yesterday and I'm having issues fully syncing my music and playlists to my Google Play Music app. Tried every fix I could think of to no avail.
---
Only a portion of the music I've uploaded and added through All Access are showing up on the app. It's most obvious when looking through my playlists - many have significantly fewer tracks in them and some are completely blank. I've also found incomplete albums in my library.
The music hasn't been lost completely though. Everything looks fine in the web app and on my other devices (Nexus 9 and Moto G 2014).
I've tried refreshing my library, clearing cache/data, uninstalling updates, rebooting, reinstalling updates, and a factory reset. I've also unchecked and rechecked GPM sync under Accounts in Settings. No luck!
Anyone else run into this kind of issue on the G4 or any new devices they've purchased? Any suggestions for a fix? I'll troubleshoot some more today and try to exchange in-store for a new phone tomorrow if I can't find a fix.
Thanks.
---
EDIT
(7/15/15)
Just got an email from Google Support saying the issue has been resolved.
They had me clear my app data and cache, then reboot and refresh the library. I had to wait a couple minutes for everything to re-sync, but it actually worked for me.
I cross-referenced a dozen playlists on my phone with the playlists on the web app. All matching. Spot-checked a few artists and there doesn't seem to be any incomplete/missing albums.
LG G4 Google Music issue
Im having the same issue. I thought it just my phone and playplaylists but after reading your post I checked the music in my library and music I uploaded and music I added with all access is not there. All my other devices show my complete collection. I think it's a G4 issue.
Did switching phones help?

I had that issue, but was over WiFi. Once I disconnected from Wi-Fi, it was fine again. Not really sure what happened.

Exchanging for a new G4 did not help. :/
Have you had any luck getting your library and playlists to populate on your G4?
It doesn't seem to be only a G4 issue either. I have another thread going on at the Android Central forums and there are two other users with the same issue. One has a new G4, the other has a new GS6. We all have ongoing tickets being 'escalated' with Google Support.
I'm a newer user so I can't post outside links, but if you copy/paste some of the text in my OP you should be able to find the thread.

I have been having EXACTLY the same problem as the OP. It's been very frustrating.
Your WiFi solution has already made a bit of a difference. If it fixes it completely when I try it properly, I will track you down and kiss you passionately.

It's not your phone it's the Amateur Hour app that is Google Play Music.
While Chasing all things Social and bending over Backwards to be Facebook. Google Let this jewel of an app turn into a perfect example of why Not to Reinvent the wheel.
Ive Been having the exact same problems and many others ever since I subscribed, Dec. 2014. The app cant handle the additional strains on its limited resources and Android is already a memory sucking pig.
Ive had these issues on a Moto X 2013, Two Moto X 2014's, Two Drod Maxx's and a 2013 Nexus 7. So I know for a fact it;s not the device.
Getting any help from google is like trying to get milk from a Bull. They are so stuck in the "Everything at Google is Free and You are all our Beta Testers (Guinea Pigs) mindset. That they forget or Don't realize that people are actually paying for this service. Though, Not Many Apparently.
You can do factory resets, Data, Cache clears Uninstall and re-installs etc until the cows come home. None will Fix these issues. The problems are account related and google needs to manually reset each one.
For Music Not showing up here is a simple but painstaking fix
Log onto a PC and go to GPM Find Your music - (Google keeps trying to Hide this aspect of the Service) select an artist, Click the "All My Songs" Card = The first one, now Select / highlight every song and then click edit - Don't change anything, click save - That's it
Now go to your phone and you will see all the songs there, you might need to refresh though.
You think any of the Bike riding, Free Food eating Geniuses at google could or would tell you to do that - Don't hold your breath - All they will say is do a factory reset, deny there is or they have heard of a similar issue and finally, tell you it's been escalated. Which , like their Feedback service is another term for it's been sent to the Great Circualr Filing cabinet.
It's been 6 long months of Music constantly restarting after 20 seconds +/-, Voice commands to play a song or an album failing endlessly, Huge portions of my library gone missing on mobile devices. etc,, and Google refuses to help.
Google Play Music as it stands now is good for One thing - Shuffle Play of your library - Thats it. The Curated Lists fail More than they work, Using the shuffle widget Plays more music NOT in your library then music in it and none of it similar to what you have. The "Recommended for You" Crap is just a waste of resources.
I have 27K songs uploaded and another 26K "Added to my Library" from the Subscription and Nothing works!

Whoa that works. It's gonna be a pain but I've worked through most of "A". Thanks.
Still need to find a way to restore my playlists on my phone though. The same edit-save trick doesn't seem to do the trick.

Playlist will wok with the "Fix" but take multiple attempts. If they are Large (100+ songs) try doing it in groups of 25.
I had one playlist with 170+ songs and it took 5 attempts trying to highlight every song wouldnt work. The Edit info was greyed out.. A few songs needed to be removed and re-added - You couldn't edit their info
After I found the "Bad" Songs I was able to do a bulk edit on the list and it worked
PS I tried doing a bulk edit on all 54K songs in my library but it to failed miserably.
This may be because of googles insistence to use the arcane and antiquated Chrome / Flash for everything google. Me using an older PC with XP ( Which makes using GPM Painful) or because it has to be done artist by artist.
I reached out to google , Again yesterday by phone to tell them of the "Fix" and the Pri-madonna who I spoke to couldn't care less or be more contemptuous.

Google Play Music sync issues

Is anyone else having problems with Play Music not syncing all of your music? Maybe ⅓-½ of my music does not appear to be syncing with my S6 nor my S6 Edge. Syncs just fine with my HTC One, Asus Tablet, Samsung Tab, PC etc... Just not the S6s.
I've resynced multiple times under Accounts, I've cleared data/cache multiple times within the app itself as well as under app management, I've tried it with app updates uninstalled and with the updates installed. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening.
I am also within my 10 device limit. Anyone else having issues? Have any possible solutions? Alotta of my most played songs are not syncing and it driving me nuts.
(Edit) FYI, the S6 is Stock Rom untouched. The S6 Edge is Stock Rom rooted.
My syncing works fine. Also at my limit. Wish they'd change that

Wanted to check if your problem is still ongoing, mine is. Google stated they weren't able to replicate the issue on their end and to pretty much hope for updates to fix it.
I'm going crazy here... :-/
---------- Post added at 12:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 PM ----------
Found a thread on Android Central of other users reporting the same issue:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/536816-how-can-i-fix-my-google-play-music-sync.html
Seems to be something with Google services itself and not just the S6 or S6 Edge.
I've referenced both threads in my support ticket, I'd encourage you to do the same, maybe we can nag them enough for a solution.
No luck as of yet on my end. Actually, it seems the more I delete data/cache and try resyncinging the more songs stop from syncing..... It's getting really aggravating honestly.

:sigh: Same here. At first I thought it was fixing the issue, but then I realized that it was just switching what songs I had available on my device. Aggravating indeed.
I included both threads (this one and the one on androidcentral) in my ticket email update. Hopefully they get their stuff together.
I'm having the same issue - searching for a solution brought me to this thread. I've reset the phone, wiped the cache, disabled the GPM app, refresh library both on Wi-Fi and on cell connection. Nothing is working. This is really frustrating as every other device I have the library is syncing perfectly (including my Galaxy Note 10.1).
Would love to get this resolved somehow...
Edit: does this have anything to do with how large the music library is? Mine is bordering 18,000 songs.
@Chadwick17 @msgnyc
Alright guys! I've found a solution for mine, hope this helps you guys out!
1. Go to GPM on the webapp (website, whatever you want to call it).
2. Go to "My Library", then pick whatever artist you want for the test
3. Once you open the artist, go to "All my songs" (for that artist you picked)
4. Select ALL the songs and click the edit button on the top
5. DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE FIELDS (unless you want to change the metadata for the songs). Just click save without making any changes
6. Refresh your music library app, your stuff should be there now
What I did to make this faster for me, was go through my music library by genres. I would open the genre (Progressive Rock for example), go to "All Songs", select all of them, click edit and just save. I'm personally OCD when it comes to the music tags, so it was much easier for me since I have everything nicely formatted and organized. I only had to do it 111 times (the number of genres in my library).
Now once you're done doing this on the GPM website, go to settings on the website and refresh your music library (yes, this is on the website).
Once you're done, go to your google music app on your phone and refresh it, if it works for you as the same as it did for me, your playlists should now have all your music and so will your library.
After I confirmed that everything was there I force stopped the google play app through the application manager, cleared cache and data for the app through application manager, reboot in recovery, cleared cache and dalvik through recovery, fixed permissions. Booted up, my Google Play music is syncing just fine now.
Hope this helps!!!

Try my steps. I had the same problem with my songs playlists, but after I performed all the steps I did all my playlists have the correct number of songs in them.
Something is seriously screwed up. Now, the web app is showing music missing - roughly 3,000 songs. However, the music app on my tablet is showing all of the correct songs. I have no idea what the hell is going on but I'd sure like my 3,000 songs back.

Give it time. I had the issue as well, that's why I refreshed the music app within the GPM website. Go to settings on your left and then refresh the music library.
Make sure that by some reason they're not in the trash either.
I'll give it a shot l8r when I've got time. It's gonna take awhile to do that with all my songs.....
(Edit)It did work with the few albums I tried it. They updated the webpage. Im unable to select all songs for an artist. Id have to do it album by album. This could take me all week...
They need to fix this.

You were right. The web page did refresh to the correct amount of songs. I simply went into the 'Songs' portion of my library and selected all 19,000 of them and hit edit and then save right away. After that I refreshed the web app and now everything is working just like it should.
However, now my Google services aren't pushing notifications. I have no idea if that is related to this or a completely different issue altogether. Gmail will only show new email after I open the app and any purchases in Google Play don't show unless I manually force the phone to sync. Ugh.

Android Wear Apps Not On Phone

I just purchased the Smartwatch 3. I like the watch but have a problem. Not all of the wear apps are loading on the watch. For instance, I've downloaded Ghostracer, Runtastic and Endomondo and while they appear on my phone; they do not appear on the watch. However, other apps I have downloaded are on there and I can install new watch faces. Oddly enough Spotify and Skype are on the watch and I didn't attempt to put them on my watch. It seems to be hit or miss.
I sent an email to the manufacturer of one of the apps and they said it may be due to Google Play Services not being the most recent. I am currently on version 9.4.52.
Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem at the beginning of my adventure with SW3.
Google Play Services is too old.
Try force-updating it on your phone (use this link) or else just wait a couple hours, it should update itself both on phone and on the watch. Anyway AFAIK Android Wear app shows an information when Google Play Services are out of date but I'm not sure.
Or try force-syncing the apps in the watch settings in Android Wear app.
Or, as I've already told, just wait a couple of hours and make sure you have your watch paired and connected to the phone during that time
Or if nothing happens, try unpairing the watch. It will reset to the factory settings (you won't lose any data connected with the watch from your phone except the watch that was paired), pair the watch again and wait for the setup to complete, it will sync all the necessary apps with the phone.

Thanks for replying. You were right. I tapped on the version and it updated like 4 times during the night. When I woke all of the apps were on the watch.

No messages arriving on the watch.

Hi all!
I do not recieve any Messages on my Huawei Watch (neither WhatsApp, nor SMS or Telegram) from my HTC One M7 (rooted). Calendar notifications and phone calls are working without any problems.
I realized that problem since i did a full wipe and reinstalled VipeOne 9.0 ROM.
This steps also did not help and i did a reset and new pairing multiple times without any success.
Could there be any settings which are set wrong?
How can i detect and solve this problem to get my notifications back?
Because i do not know if the problem is Android or Android Wear related or has something to do with the Huawei Watch or ViperOne ROM, i did a post in this Forum...
Thank you for helping in advance,
Florian
it could be related to this sort of thing http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-watch/general/bad-battery-life-read-factory-reset-t3474948
go to apkmirror.com and download the latest version of Google Play Services for your phone then double reboot phone and watch twice (could take a day for Google play services on watch AND phone to sync their versions)
since you wiped your rom I'd bet your version of Google Play Services is out of sync with what's on the watch (probably would fix itself after a week off trickling the updates)

Hi pablo71,
thank you for your answer.
I downloaded the newest Google Play Services apk from apkmirror.com, installed it and restartet Watch and Phone multiple times.
But after over 24h there is still the same problem...
What can i do? Reset the phone another time or sync Google Play Services manually or something else?

my apologies for late reply ... I don't know what could be done, but if your watch was rooted I'd say to install the app Advanced Settings, then open it ON THE WATCH and go to Apps > System > Google Play Services > CLEAR DATA ... THEN go to Android Wear on the phone and FORGET THE WATCH ... THEN Reboot the watch, open Advanced Settings on watch go to Bluetooth > check the Discovery Mode Box and RE-PAIR the watch with Android Wear .. when I have the problem 'that sounds like what you're describing' this procedure fixes it for me.
sorry you're having problems with your watch .. if it's because of data-cross-contamination between different versions of Google Play Services updates that is causing this then I hope Google takes some action and stops doing this ... non-functioning watches does NOT make people want to buy smartwatches

No Problem!
Today i unlocked my Watch and installed Advanced Settings. Then i deleted the data from Google Play Services and did a Reset and tried everything you described, but untill now no messages arrived on the watch... Could there be something else wrong or settings on my phone?
The Google Play Service Version on the phone and on the watch are nearly the same (10.0.84) but the number after the bracket are different (238-... on phone and 530-... on watch)...
Thank you, yes its very annoying having a Smartwatch which isn't recieving any messages ... hope it can be fixed, but because its only software related it should be viable.

wow that would drive me crazy .. all I can think of would be to try the earlier version of Android Wear on the phone you used to have ... apkmirror would have it .. wow good luck I hope it gets fixed
I tried to install an older version of Android Wear but it did not help.
So i don't know what to do anymore...
Solved!
I just got the solution for my problem!!
It was a very stupid mistake: Android Wear was not set as device administrator... There was even a notification on my Wear app,
but i didn't recognized it because normally there is a notification to activate locations and it looks exactly the same

How did you check to make sure that it was? I too am having a similar problem where my SMS notifications would sometimes take over 2 minutes to get to my watch.

Because all system related notifications arrived on my watch without any problems and all notifications of third party apps didn't, it could only be Phone related...
You have an other problem, because the SMS notification is system related.
Do you sync via cloud (wifi) or via Bluetooth?
Did you try to reset your watch or reinstall the wear app (and delete app data)?
^good to know!

I meant how did you check to see that Android Wear was set as device Admin? I looked in my device admin and did not see Android Wear in the list.
But I did do a reset of my watch and re-paired, and that seem to have fixed the notifications delayed.

Sorry it was not the device admin query, but the notification access query (Preferences -> Apps -> Settings -> something like "Special access" -> Notification access).
Good to hear, that your problem is also resolved!
Not resolved. Same problem. Notification would arrive much later than on phone, and even calls are now not going to my watch. I performed another watch factory reset again, but why am I having to keep doing this?
I have a Huawei watch with a Huawei Mate 9. I would expect both to work seamlessly together. I had no problems when my watch was synced with my Axon ZTE 7.
So this is what I believe is causing the problem. When the phone and watch gets out of range (walking away from my desk without my phone), for some reason the phone and watch does not ask to be paired. It looks as though they are both still connected. With my Axon 7, whenever both got out of range and wanted to connect again, I would get a notification asking if I wanted to pair the watch with my phone. I would then accept. In this case, with the Mate 9, I do not get that pairing notification and I believe that is why i do not get notifications to my watch after it has lost its connection. I had to manually unpair the watch from my phone, then pair it up again.
Any insights?

I do also have a Huawei Mate 9 and i dont have any problems... I did never get a re-pair notification (on my HTC One M7 also). It re-paired automatically when i was in range!

And your notifications come to your watch the same time it comes to your phone? Just to clarify, mine does automatically re-pair when it gets in range again, but I was thinking that maybe somehow it doesn't fully re-pair, which was the cause of my delayed/missed notifications? So I wanted to manually re-pair to make sure it did.
Still trying to figure out when my notifications sometime shows up, and sometime does not. Baffled.
The messages arrive about 1-2s later (i disabled vibration on my phone) and since i set Wear for special access everything works without problems, like before...
If i understand right, your notifications arrive after a couple of seconds or sometimes they do not arrive? Is there a coherence when they arrive and when not? (for example always when you re-pair it don't work and when it's constantly paired it works, but delayed?)
And are you syncing with Bluetooth or Wifi (cloud)?

I am going to keep monitoring and see if I notice any patterns to when I do receive notifications instantly, and when I do not. Yes, sometimes my notifications, i.e SMS, or my CNN notifications, I will hear that it arrive on my phone, but then look at my watch and do not see the notifications. Sometimes, it would eventually go on my watch a few minutes afterwards.
When I re-paired it, I did notice that my notifications appeared instantly. I did not try to walk away from my phone and come back to have it re-paired automatically. I can try that today and see what happens. I just turned on wi-fi sync yesterday. But would i still be getting text SMS through wi-fi?
When you say that you set Wear for special access, where about did you check that?
Yes, try to find out what commonly happens when it does not work...
I haven't been trying wifi sync but i think all notifications should work like using bluetooth.

Downloading music from Spotify to Samsung galaxy watch 4

Has anyone been able to do this? I've seen a video where someone had offline music stored but I don't have an option to do it. Tried uninstalling Spotify from my phone and watch to start again. Then downloaded both from the Google play store but the version on my watch looks so basic. No search options just a list of recently played items when I swipe right. All I can do is select one and it will start playing on my phone. No options in the settings either. Has it downloaded an old version for me or something? I have Spotify premium although it was through Vodafone
I think I've sorted it...
Went into settings, about watch, storage and accepted the permissions, now I can download songs!
