I'm on CB 3.5.7 and I converted Data to F2FS and strangely I cant download anything from my browser. I can install apps no problem transfer stuff from my pc but not in the browser on the phone. I have tried to repair file system in TWRP. Tried 2 browsers and both have storage permissions. any Ideas.

Did you create your own Downloads folder after wiping? I did that and had the same problem. I deleted it and let android create it by downloading and it worked.
That was it! Thanks a lot I had restored from backup and I guess it didn't like it.
Thanks

hey!
I have been unable to find a solution to my problem by search. Please help me or link me to the solution, if its been answered.
My brother has Gnex and is on 4.2.1. He has rom toolbox pro installed and used it to backup apps (his device is also rooted). Now from the root browser in the app, there is App Manager folder and inside the apps are backed up in a folder. Now, when I plug the phone in, the folder is not visible at all. How do I transfer those apps to the computer? Do I really need to transfer them because my bro wants to flash CM 10.0.0 instead of using pure android 4.2.1 .
Thanks for your help.
If you are changing the ROM then I recommend a full-wipe so Yes you need to backup your apps in order to restore them later. If this is all you need then use Titanium Backup instead. It will make a folder on /sdcard/ which you can easily transfer to your PC afterwards.
I haven't used ROM Toolbox at all but if you can determine the location of the "App Manager" folder you are talking about then probably you will get some help on how to transfer it to PC although I suggest using Titanium Backup to backup your apps

That is a problem with Windows and MTP I believe. I've had the same problem with other folders on my 'sdcard' and windows now showing them. You can use adb to pull them from your device. I actually like that a lot better and use it to transfer my sdcard contents to/from my computer. Also, there is no reason to worry about getting them on your pc just to flash a different rom. With any custom rom, your sdcard will not be wiped unless you do so yourself in recovery. Just do a factory reset from within recovery before installing a different rom like CM10.
I installed cyanogenmod 11 on my kindle fire hd 8.9 and everything was working fine. However, lately I'm getting the message:
"insufficient storage available"
when I try and update some apps. The thing is that it doesn't happen with all apps. It seems to happen with Chrome, Titanium Backup, EDS Lite, and Adobe Reader. I have tried:
* installing the latest rom (4-28 jen nightly CM) and latest google apps
* clearing cache/davalik
* 'fix permissions' with rom manager
* uninstalling and reinstalling -- now I can't install the app
* tried installing 'lucky patcher', there was no 'remove fixes and backups' as described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1717897
I couldn't bring up any info on this error (except the above). Everyone that used to get this error was from old versions and had an external sd card. But with the kindle fire HD all the memory is internal. Any suggestions?
Try going into ES File Explorer > device > data > open app-lib folder and now remove/delete the apps giving you trouble. Now re-download from the Play Store. See if that helps.

Thanks for your reply LinearEquation. I only had two folders. One for Titanium backup, and another nested data folder (inside data) for an app 'ChefTap'. I deleted both folders for the apps, but I still cant update chrome.

You went to home then data. You need to tap device then data then app-lib. Every app installed will have a file in there. Be careful what you just go deleting. Make sure to run another Titanium Backup.

So I think the problem was that I wasn't in 'root view mode' (whatever it's called in the settings) of EStrongs. I logged into adb shell and found the folder you were referring to and deleted the folders after uninstalling and now they install fine.
Thanks so much for your help!

I will use TWRP to wipe the internal storage and userdata partation if i were you. just keep your important files and make a clean reset.

Maybe as a last resort but LinearEquation's solution was ****FAR*** easier than a clean reset.
Hi!
Today i've tried to restore my nandroid backup from philz recovery. It restores boot and system but when it comes to data it's saying: error while restoring /data. So for now it seems that my data partition is lost
Anybody experienced this issue? Is there any workaround?
(I'm on stock 14.3.A.0.757 with locked bootloader)
Thanks!
Yes, I had the same issue. I could't find any fix. For now I am only doing backups with TWRP and regularly manually save files on the computer.
I notified [NUT] here already, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53100495&postcount=239

what do you mean by manually save files on computer? do you copy+paste android/data folder to your computer as a backup?
No, if you simply do that you will lose permissions. I create a tar file on the phone and copy this tar file to my computer (using adb or terminal emulator)
Finally I've successfully restored some of my applications with app called Nandroid Manager * ROOT.
@zxz0O0
i see and what terminal emulator do you use?
well i kinda wonder since i hate restoring backup from pc companion coz it takes ages, i would like to ask if this is pausible since haven't tried yet..
im gonna copy android/data folder and paste it on my computer as backup then i'm gonna do crazy stuff on my phone, re-install my files from store again and start restoring game saves by copying android/data from my pc backup to my phone.. will it work? will it screw permission as well?
The app is called "Terminal emulator". If you copy data to windows computer you will lose permissions because linux and windows are different.
Hello guys, I'm thinking of switching from MIUI to LOS or Syberia. To do that I need to format the /data partition. I really don't want to re-install all my apps again, so is there a way to restore the data partition not as an image, but as file structure? I have TWRP backups but they're images of the partition. Do I need to install Titanium Backup or similar?
What would be the best course of action here?
Thanks in advance!
Try migrate on play store

Play Store indeed has a list of all the apps I have installed. However all the data that's in the app's settings will be gone.
Here's an example - I use a Launcher app. If I re-install it from Play Store, all icon arrangements, wallpaper settings, all other settings within the Launcher will be gone.
What I'm trying to achieve is once the /data partition is formatted, ideally I'll just need to copy paste the data (files and folders) back in again. Partition restore won't work as it will mess up the LOS (or any other non-MIUI OS) installation.
The TWRP backup gives me an image file, which can be extracted to apps and folders, but I'm not sure I can just copy paste that over to the /data folder(partition). Main concern is permissions. Would they be automatically set on OS boot?

Titanium backup is hard to beat. You can copy your back up folder onto your pc and copy it back over after the wipe to restore your app data.

He actually means Migrate as it's an app on Play Store. The app is sort of like Titanium Backup but free.
Sent from my MI 5s using Tapatalk
Thanks, I misunderstood the reply. Migrate indeed looks like the app that will do the job. I'll give it a shot.
Thanks again!
Quick update - I am now on LOS 16 and used Migrate. A few apps gave errors (Telegram is one of them) so I uninstalled and installed them back from Play Store. But that's nothing really. I loaded the launcher amd saw all my icons back where I left them... Amazing!
Before I flashed the rbox ROM my 4k stick had 4gb of storage available. After the rom flashed and performed a factory reset, I now have less than 2GB available... Did I forget to do something? Is the old rom on a different partition or something?
I'm assuming one would have to wipe /system and adb killall recovery and install the rom?
The system partition is not userdata, imho nothing to do with avaiable space.
Have you looked at sdcard, maybe you pushed some prerooted zips, twrp backups and other stuff to it!?
Edit: i.e. a factory reset doesn't wipe the internal sdcard...
when you flashed it was it from a USB or did you transfer it to your download folder (you can delete the file after flashing it)? Did you backup? I backup to usb..

Backup was done to internal storage, moved to my server, and deleted. Flash was done over USB.
Not exactly an awnser to your problem, but you could use your USB thumb drive as adoptable storage. I just got it up and running on my 4k today and it works surprisingly well! Have you used any apps to sideload apks? I know that some sideloading apps like apps2fire leave backups of all sideloaded apks in the download folder.

I do use apps2fire for adb transfers just out of pure laziness, but I'll check into that. Using a file explorer, I'm not seeing any big files or anything which leads me to believe it's hidden on another partition or the rom itself was created on its own partition. I'll check more into it this evening. Thanks
