Had my Gear S3 paired to my Pixel XL for a couple days now. For the most part it works as advertised, a couple glitches so far.
Yesterday I dialed my wife from my phone and it passed the audio through my Gear S3, then I hung up and tried it again and this time it routed the call through my Pixel.
Today my alarm went off and only the phone notified me, then later on the day another alarm went off and this time the phone and watch notified me (which is what it's supposed to do).
Another glitch today was I received a couple emails, the watch made the notification sound but no vibration. Then the next few email notifications it notified me via sound and vibration (which is what I set it to do).
Don't know if it's a glitch with the Gear S3 but its only happened a couple times. Still LOVE THE WATCH.
Oh by the way if you get the Frontier, the bezel feels loose and it almost drove me crazy until I went to Best Buy to try out the demo they had and it felt the same.
Samsung pay actually works for me. It's weird cause everyone online says it doesn't I have 5 cards paired and have used it at sheets. I had no issues. Maybe the app was updated today as I just got mine today... But that was the one thing I hated to let go from my note 7 now I literally have the best of both worlds... This is thee best smart watch I've used right down to build quality.
Have you guys gotten text messages and responding to work or is that Svoice and Samsung messaging app only?
I've had both paired for over a month now (since the S3 came out) and love it. The biggest feature for me was Samsung Pay since the S3 has MST support. The Gear app updated about a week after having it which worried me because I thought it would work right out of the box. Even with the Pixel XL rooted, running a custom kernel, and an unlocked bootloader, Pay works fine. You just have to sign back into the Samsung Pay app through the Gear app after every few purchases (which can get annoying when you're trying to be cool.). Anyway, once you set up S-Voice you can send texts through it. I am using Textra and it works fine. I would imagine it would work with stock messenger as well. I can also use S-Voice to make calls through the stock dialer. Haven't used it for emails yet.
There have been a few things on the watch that have bothered me. If I turn off the call feature (because taking calls through the watch is most times inconvenient) then turning the ring doesn't work to answer or reject calls. It would be nice if you were to turn it and the phone would answer in speaker mode. Also, my watch always locks on me. I think with the factory strap the watch rides up too high on my wrist and a tattoo there messes with the sensors and the watch thinks i'm not wearing it. It's annoying to have enter my pin everytime I want to look at a notification. I'm am ordering another strap which I hope will hold the watch closer to my wrist and tighter to the skin which I hope will help.
Battery life has been great with me, but I don't have LTE, Wi-Fi, or the AOD on. Through regular use from 0700-2200, I put it on the charger and it has 87% life left on average.
At the end of the day, I love it. I just wish Samsung would ditch Tizen and go with Android Wear. I'm sure they could make Samsung Pay work with Wear.

The only issue I had was that Hangouts would not allow me to reply until I installed Android Wear. Counterintuitive I know, but it seems there are some parts in Android Wear that Hangouts needs to work with Samsung Gear.

Cool thanks, last question for now. Do you have a messaging app on the apps screen? Is that possible?
Hi
Most annoying issue for me is when im trying to answer incoming call using phone call is passed via gear s3 anyway - all the time
Anybody has same issue? Any suggestions?
Samsung Pay wasn't working initially but around a month ago I updated the gear app and up it popped. No other issues to report as yet.

So when you answering phone call using phone call is passed via phone or via watch?
Will Android Pay work on the Gear S3? I know, it sounds counter intuitive to use AP instead of SP but I've ran into situations before that no matter what I did, I couldn't get SP to work on an NFC payment terminal. Honestly, it's still so hit and miss I'd only really feel like messing with mobile payments via NFC which for me goes back to Android Pay.
Is there still those problems available with the s3 or everything is gone cause am planning to get one if everything is fixed!

I'm considering buying one of these. I would sometimes want LTE capability, but would mostly want to turn it off to preserve battery. It sounds like you've got an advanced setup. Also, you mentioned being able to disable LTE. Is the option to disable LTE available to regular (non-advanced) folks like me?
Thanks in advance!

The device has a smart network function that disables the mobile radio while the Bluetooth connection is active. Then once you don't have a Bluetooth connection for like thirty seconds it enables it
In my first attempt at setting it up, it looked as though the "bluetooth only" model SM-R760 wasn't going to support text msgs with my Pixel XL. I reset the watch and did the setup again, and still no messaging app. Later discovered it DOES support text messaging with my Pixel, but only receive and respond. You cannot originate a message on the watch. A small compromise. It was confusing at first. But glad I don't have to pay more for a carrier supported model to have SMS on my Gear S3.

I'm looking for an app that I can put on both my thunderbolt and a100 tablet that will foreward my texts to my tablet (maybe through wifi or Bluetooth) and would be able to reply to them with my tablet, and when someone calls, I would see the caller I'd, but not necessarily be able to answer and calls on the tab. As I'm sure that technology is impossible to incorperate at present time.

For the text I use textab between the tablet and my G2X. It works over bluetooth.
Sorry for Caller ID I have no idea.

GoogleVoice, my friend. Takes some setting up (and getting friends to switch over), but once you do, you'll never look back.
Google voice is cool but it only works with a WIFI connection. With my suggestions you can use your tablet with a bluetooth connection to your phone while away from a hot spot.

This is true, but my phone is my hot spot. I still have the unlimited data (and I hate that for alot of others since July) so I just use wifi tether from my rooted tbolt. Can't wait for my area to get 4g, haven't hard the pleasure of using it yet, seeing as I don't get out much
But I'm still loving this tablet though! Just wish alot more games were compatible with Android 3.2. Like Dead Space.

Currently, the Motoactiv app will only sync with the RAZR. I found a thread where somebody ported the apk and modified it to look for notifications outside of blur for incoming text messages.
Incoming calls are still hooked through blur and don't properly notify missed calls on the Motoactv even with the modified APK.
I am including the already modified APK, would someone be able to take a look at this and see if it would be easy to have incoming calls be hooked to the regular dialer?
I have a Nexus and the apk posted on this forum works fine for me with texts, calls and calendar appointments, have you tried it?

I'm using a galaxy nexus with stock 4.0.1 as well, and I'm not seeing the same behavior. What's happening is I can receive text notifications. However, when I receive a call, it does not show the incoming call on the watch. I can't see who is calling or answer it from the watch. I have verified in the software that it's supposed to send both. It seems like it's not working with a non-blur dialer, as I was having the same problem with my Atrix after installing Cyanogen but not before.
I'm in the same boat as dajoey. Calls cannot be redialed through the Motoactv on the galaxy nexus, they can on the razr. If I miss a call without the headphones plugged into the motoactv, there will be no notification.

Thanks for letting me know, let's just say I can get them at a lower price, so cost isn't really an issue, but I'd rather buy something that is actually useful (which I think this could be) and cool. Nike's/TomTom watch is great if you use Nike+, but I like (or think I would) how the Motoactv can communicate with heart monitors and other accessories as well as be used on a bike.
Anything you particularly like it for?

I did my Christmas shopping with it on, listened to music the entire time. With headphones plugged in it acts as a bluetooth headset so I was still able to hear all of my text notifications and take calls. That alone makes it a pretty awesome tool. Not to mention the motocast sync grabs my music and podcasts right from my iTunes library. I haven't used it for any fitness activities so I can't comment on that yet. Having the app made completely backwards (and forwards) compatible with other android devices would go a long way as well. It does look huge on the wrist though, I wouldn't wear it unless I had long sleeves to cover it up. Although while training, that would be a different story. I'll probably pick up a heart monitor for use at the gym with this.

What version of ICS are you on? Is your phone rooted? I am having the same problem. I am on 4.0.2. The phone appears to connect fine and I am getting the notifications from the weather app but that is it. I also noticed that if I set it up as a Moto phone in the watch setup the bluetooth icon in my notification bar on my nexus is still dim, but again I am receiving the weather notifications okay.
If I set it up and say it is not a Moto phone the BT icon on my Nexus is light up like it is when connected to other bluetooth devices, however I cant get anything but the weather to notify to work.

can anyone help me here?
i have the samsung note AT&T with ICS 4.0.3 and i cannot answer my calls from the MOTOACTV or return calls from it. the call back button is grey out i can't press it to received calls or to call back. i also have the motorola sf600 bluetooth , i can see the call on the device but i can't answer from it i have to use the button on the bluetooth to answer my calls..
Did anyone else have trouble connecting their MotoActv to their Gnexus via bluetooth? No matter what I try, I can't get mine to connect. I have the latest software on the MotoActv, and tried multiple versions of the MotoActv android app, and when I bluetooth scan, it finds the MotoActv, but when I click on it I get the message "Couldn't pair with MOTOACTV because of an incorrect pin or passkey".
What am I doing wrong???
Edit: I'm on ICS 4.0.3, Gummy custom ROM
Disregard above, I restarted the MotoACTV and my phone and it paired up just fine!
I'm a long-time note 2 user and usually have no problem with settings. Out of
nowhere, my Note 2 started sounding a notification tone (first tone in the list)
and I haven't found a way to disable that notification. I think it's related to a secondary email
account... yahoo or Outlook perhaps. Tried the obvious options to turn notifications
off/on but nothing has worked. This thing is waking me up at all hours and disturbing
my lifestyle in general. The only way I've found to turn off the continuous sounding of the tone is to touch the top notification bar. Such a hassle. Any real suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

If only that were possible. With Android 4.3 the notification is for leaving and rejoining the 4Glte coverage area. For those of us that live on the edge of 4G lte coverage it makes for a long annoying night. I have emergency notifications that I DO need at night, but not the damn network change every 5 minutes.

UPDATE from SPRINT
I talked to Sprint. They have confirmed that many ppl are complaining about the constant "upbeep" and "downbeep" tones. I understand it is not just 4Glte/CDMS coverage change, but also Wifi and Bluetooth availability. They say Samsung is aware of the unpopularity of the issue and will have a patched version out very soon.
I have resorted to disabling 4Glte all the time and disabling WiFi and Bluetooth at night. this seems to be a reasonable short term work around.
Thanks for reading.
Sean
I've never had any notification tone for network/wifi mode changes. I'm not sure why the stock rooted MK4 ROM wouldn't have the same issue but it doesn't or this forum would be full of angry people. I assume you guys are on the stock unrooted MK4 Jellybean ROM? If so, I'm glad I told my wife not to allow the update on her Note 2. I'm currently on stock rooted MK4 ROM and have never had this type of notification. But I would hate it also.
With this all being said, time for you guys to visit the Note 2 Toolkit thread and get rooted! Just one more reason why people prefer to root their devices.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957155
Once rooted you will need to ask ROM devs for help in removing the network notifications. I'm sure there's an easy way to do this with Root Explorer file manager app but you must be rooted to gain access to the file system. This is my only advice because I'm pretty sure an update will not come soon enough for you guys. Updates come from Samsung then Sprint sits on it for testing etc, then Sprint pushes it OTA. You can root and fix the issue in a few minutes or wait and pray for an update.

Thanks for all the input, everyone. And Sean, thanks for talking to Sprint about this matter...I'm sure that all the suggestions here will help others with the same kind of issue I've been experiencing. For me, it's a wait and see kind of thing in that whatever the change in settings I make, it could take an entire day or even more to verify success in shutting down this maddening interruption.
There have been days when, because of a setting I changed, my phone would not ring at all when a call was coming in even though the ringer volume setting was at 100 percent loudness.
The good news for me is that as of this morning, I had an uninterrupted night's sleep last night which, obviously, could mean that I've finally stumbled into a solution. But I am reserving the 'Mission Accomplished' party for when I am absolutely sure my settings are the way they should be. I hate big let-downs, especially when they follow great expectations and celebrations of euphoria.
BTW, the latest changes I made were done inside Facebook's notifications preferences. It seems the Facebook crew are on a mission to keep its members fully involved in troubleshooting the 'traps' they set for us. Kinda reminds me of Hunger Games.
Fingers crossed now...maybe I'll have another full-night's sleep, but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.
Thanks again to all who pitched in their $000.02000. I'll update here any more results that might be helpful.

Have to admit that rooting is very tempting...thing is, I live in a new area and have no 'guru' type friends here and I'd be concerned that I'd get myself in a corner and not be able to get out. I just don't know enough about rooting to trust myself with doing it to my only smartphone. For instance, does rooting wipe all data completely? I'd have to back up everything I want to keep? And how would I do that backup. Will the memory be re-formatted? How do I know which apps work and which ones don't work on a rooted phone?
Yeah, you guessed it...I'm an old guy...66...and fairly savvy with being a PC/smartphone user...but I haven't studied coding since the mid-eighties and don't remember what I learned about it then. Still, I'm intrigued with rooting my Note 2. Maybe someday.

DrDubner, the Rooting Toolkit I linked to above is very simple and straight forward to use and it has very clear and easy to understand instructions within the user interface. Basically if you can read you can root your phone with ease. Also there is no need to backup anything on you phone or sd card (although it's always advisable just in case) because the root process does not change, delete, wipe, or alter anything other than enabling root permissions on your phone and flashing an insecure boot image & custom recovery in which you do not have to ever use and will not be visible upon normal day to day usage.
BUT with this being said, I would highly recommend that you do some more homework FIRST and find out exactly which app or system process/app that is triggering the notifications BEFORE rooting your phone. It may turn out to be something that can be fixed without rooting your phone and either way you go about this, you need to know the exact cause of the notifications before doing anything.
Hopefully you can get more specific info about your notifications and post them here for others to help you better. Like I said, I've never had the network notifications that you described... on any ROM stock or custom. Perhaps it's not network notifications and mabye it's a system app or user installed app that is triggering these notifications? Keep us posted so we can get to the bottom of this issue much faster than Samsung/Sprint patch update that may never come.
Yeah I've never heard of this problem. Stock 4.3 and my phone never beeps for coverage issues. Idk to me it sounds like there's an app set up to continue reminding you of an unread notification. Like the Messages app reminder feature. Plus he did say taping on the notification bar stops it so that means one of those notifications on the dropdown is the culprit and when you tap on the bar it resets your notification (no blinking or sounds). Maybe it's time for a factory reset.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I agree. It does sond like a repeat notification. The notification pull down should give you a clear indication of which app is giving you the notification. Double check notification settings within each suspect app itself. If you can't find it that way then uninstall suspect apps one at a time until you find the culprit. Facebook and other social apps would be a good place to start. Also check Sprint visual voice mail and your messaging notification settings. You might be surprised at the simple cause of this.
I have gone thru 2 sim cards, 2 SM-N910A with similar results.
In settings, call, additional settings, it comes up with Network or SIM card error. AT&T has replaced two sim card, one a micro sim, one a nano sim with adapter.
From the keypad, **21*808551999# the error message as attach
The AT&T associate spent an hour with the advanced tech support to no avail.
I have a Nexus 6 and I can access all the above function, so my account is provisioned properly and I'm post paid
Did you ever find a solution? I'm having the same problem.
It's something to do with the phone, as you seem to be aware of, I had a customer come in who wanted to forward his note 4 to his gear s, the same issue happened, from what I can gather it seems to just be an issue with the call app itself, a fix I read but never go to try was taking a sim card from a known working phone that has call forwarding on and inserting it into the unworking phone.
Try stopping the phone app and clear all data. I got a new sim card and then did that and my call forwarding worked. YMMV
I have the same problem. I called tech support today and the lady I talked to didn't even know that the gear app could auto forward you calls. She said she would set it up for me on her end. Not what I wanted. I want this 2 high end devices to perform the way they are suppose to before att got there hands on it.
So what I did was, I pulled out my Note 3. Updated to latest FireKat Rom and problem solved.
My note 4 and gear s worked perfectly when I first got them. THEN WE GOT AN UPDATE--------THE ONLY UPDATE.
That's when I first started having this problem.
Not only do we not have root, but now it isn't doing the cool things it should. I'm sorry for the long winded ***** but I shouldn't have to wait for the chance of a possible maybe sometime in the future if everything goes right update that may or may not correct this problem and could possibly inject more issues. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I came across this post:
This is a problem with AT&T. I'm running 4.4.4 Android on a new Note 4 and discovered that Google Voice wouldn't run on the phone. I suspect the issue is tied to AT&T's implementation of their Visual Voicemail.
After spending a few calls with AT&T Tech Support, I was able to get my Google Voice to work by using the Call Forwarding Settings of "Forward When Busy", "Forward When Unavailable", and "Forward When Unreachable" to be set to my Google Voice number. The problem is that the Note 4 has the bug you mention. It's not possible for the user to access the settings on the phone without getting the "Network or SIM card error" message.
AT&T Tech Support can manually configure these settings, but this will only help if you don't change the settings often because a call to AT&T is required. I'm hoping they fix this bug in the Lollipop build.
Be careful when calling AT&T Tech Support, the first two times I called, the Tech Support Agent had no idea that this type of Call Forwarding Settings were configurable.
For the 3rd try at calling them, I got someone more knowledgeable who first reset my voicemail to "Basic Voicemail". This is done in the AT&T system, not on the individual phone. Once that had been done, I then had to "activate" the Basic Voicemail by configuring my box. As soon as that was done, the AT&T rep was able to go into the AT&T system and manually configure the three Call Forwarding options that I wanted.
It was a huge pain to go through, especially because all I wanted to do was use Google Voice which has worked on AT&T Samsung phones going back to my first Galaxy SII.
My phone still shows the "Network or SIM card Error" whenever I try to access the Call Forwarding Settings, but at least I was able to get the Call Forwarding configured for my Google Voice to work again.
I don't know if this info helps you out, but I wanted to pass it along.
Went back to AT&T yesterday, this time armed with my Nexus 6. Got a nano sim. Nexus 6 call forwarding function work. Working sim into Note 4. same crap happens.
I just check again this morning, and my Note 3 is working flawlessly. Gear app autofowards my calls as it should and advanced call settings does not show error message. I believe it's a problem with the Note 4 not able to register it's self with the network. If I use another phone it registers fine, call forwarding work as does tethering hot spot. If I try my Note 4 neither wants to work. When I call att they can fix my tethering hot spot but can't fix forwarding. My Note 3 just works by its self without having to do anything such as clear app data or anything with I have tried along with phone reset multiple times. I'm going to use my Note 3 for a while.

Used my Note 3 all day today. Everything worked flawlessly. Got home and started my tethering hotspot and no problems. I'm thinking that I'm getting tired of my Note 4. My Note 3 running Firekat is just as fast. The only thing is the camera and the screen is so good. I wish my Note 4 was as, we'll I'll stop there. Thinking about trading Note 4 in for the iPhone 6 plus. I'll still have my Note 3 that everything works perfectly on. I get bored and like to be able to switch up the experience so if I have android, Note 3 would be note 4 but, and the hated ios witch just works and that can be jailbroken with a lot more help because they are all the same device and dose not have individually locked boot loaders. ????? What to do???

Tethering should work unless you have unlimited data, all mobile share plans from att include thethering, also you can pre-order the s6 on Friday, if I remember what our new Sammy rep was talking to me about, got to play with it for 30 seconds before a customer walked in, the ui is nice and smooth and the new octa exynos chip is suppose to run cooler and it seemed, just for ui scrolling, to sail through it all. I like the look and feel, I want it......
Edit: keep in mind that you'll be in the same position you are now as far as root and unlocked bootloader, if you want these things wait to see who sells the phone unlocked then buy it at full retail and use it on your account. I work for att, I know even the nexus 6, the most close to stock phone we sell has bloat ware and is locked down tight. If I get the s6 it's out right and unlocked.
Yes I agree. It should work. If I switch my sim to another phone it works just fine. Everything works as it should, but if I put my sim back in my Note 4 in phone settings advanced settings I get an simcard or network error and call forwarding does not work. Also tethering will fail telling me to call 611 or visit website to register device for tethering. Gear app will fail to forward calls also and I have had problems with network data. If you Google this problem it is a problem with note 4. Some people on the att forums are just hoping for an update soon. That's is not acceptable to me. It worked when I bought the phone then there was an update that was pushed to my phone and now my phone is turned off and I'm using my Note 3. So by the time this gets resolved and I can enjoy my phone it will be old in the world of phone technology. So why should I keep it, hoping it will be updated sometime in the near future which keeps getting pushed back for some unknown to me reason. Don't get me wrong. I love my Note 4 but I want it to work now.

I know you tried , the dialer codes.
always call forward setting , **21*808551999# (did you make sure it is 10digits? should be , **21*1808551999# if you are in the us. it might be worth a try.
conditional call forwarding **004*1808551999# (busy, rejected, missed calls)

There's definitely something wrong with how AT&T network supporting this phone. I have no problem with my Nexus 6. It's very frustrating but it's something I have to live with if I want to keep using this phone.
Anyways, thanks for trying to help.

Weird that would have been one of the first things I did.. Assumed you already went that way.. If after all this it doesn't work it seems you may have a defective device and should bring it up with samsung or att for an exchange...

I did the "wipe data/factory reset" from recovery and its still the same. You maybe right that the device is defective and since its more than 30 days, either I'll call Samsung for a replacement or claim insurance, however, by looking at AT&T community forum thread, I read that it all worked with N910AUCU1ANIE firmware, when AT&T updated that firmware, all hell broke loose. I'll see if I can have Samsung replace it.

I noticed there was an Android Pay update this morning. Do you know whether Android Pay works with the new MM following the Android Pay update?

I did the update earlier - Still no go.
I've been running MM for about 15 hours now with no issues. Have not tried Android pay yet, but everything else works without any discernible problems. In fact: Android wear works better now than it did before; whereas on 5.1 it would constantly disconnect, now it doesn't even have a single problem.
Android Pay is no go here also.
Samsung Pay seems to be working.
With new loyalty cards feature added... it's not officially time to ditch Android Pay. It was disappointing since the day they launched
Neither Android nor Samsung pay support my bank but my experience with MM so far has been great. It feels like a brand new phone.
i have been running it for about 30 hours and have not had any major issue. the only minor issue I see is in the messaging app. if you hit the back button to exit out of a conversation and go back to you message list, it exits out of the messaging app all together. other than that, my phone is running twice as fast as it was before. my Bluetooth issues seem to be better as well.
After updating to Marshmallow, I can't seem to have my text messages preview on my status bar; that is, I do not see any words besides the little text icon. Is anyway else having this problem? I have ENABLED "MESSAGE PREVIEW" in the settings within the app, but still no go. Maybe I used package disable pro, disabling an app that interferes with it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Just tested Android and Samsung Pay. Both worked for me.
The only thing I may have done different was I shutdown my device. Entered recovery(power+home+volume up) and cleared my cache.
When I rebooted my cellular data connected to 4G instead of Edge and it detected new updates for the bloatware lol. Worth a try if you need Android Pay.
Just tried a few minutes of movie in Prime Videos and no issues here, Android Wear stayed connected too.

Yep, now that loyalty cards are in Samsung pay, I can now disable Android Pay completely. I have to say Samsung knocked it out of the park with their reverse engineering magnetic strips to allow our phones to work with the older technology.
-----------------
A non-issue, or bonus, is that my battery life has increased a good 30-40% with this update - and thats without using package disabler pro.
