This phone is super fast. My first OnePlus. They fingerprint is so much faster than my s7. I just touch it and it unlocks. My brother in law who has a nexus 6p is very jealous

it's insanely fast.
im still amazed

How is the screen latency touch response compared to the s7 edge or iPhone 6s?

Fingerprint sensor

I was wondering, since I didn't find anything about it on Google, if the phone automatically wakes when you press the fingerprint scanner. Do you have to turn the phone on with the power button before you can unlock it with the fingerprint, or does it automaticcaly turn on and unlock when you tap the sensor?

Yes, it does !

As soon as you touch it it unlocks. Within milliseconds.

today i did a nandroid backup via twrp.
size: 9,1GB
the backup took exactly 180sec. pretty fast.

Did you use compression and encryption in TWRP? My 10 G backup went down to 5.x with compression. Encryption didn't take significantly longer.

the fastest phone I have ever used!

did without compression.
will try with it next time.
is compression faster due to size or slower cause of compressing the stuff?

The phone is so fast, that CPU is negligible (compared to I/O) so I think it's quite a bit quicker. (%25-30% perhaps).

Very fast, Ran Antutu and get the highest score for all the andriod phone. But still cannot beat Iphone 7!!!!

I'm itching to buy this phone! However, can this handle Dawn of Titans, CSR2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Vainglory with ease? I mean no lags/delay, no frame drops?

Mine only scores about 7000 less than the Iphone 7. For a 439$ phone, I call that impressive

It has the latest quad-core Kryo processor, of course it will be very fast.

I'm getting so close to beating the IP7 lol, imagine what this thing can do while overclocked, I'm running OOS 4 so I'll have to wait for those sources to be released before I can OC it

Hahahaha

This phone is the highest spec'd android phone on the planet. If this one can't handle those games, then none will. Make sense?

Can somebody check the performance of One Plus 3T in UXbench app that is available on playstore for free with no ads and is developed by me?
If you like please post your results inside the app or post them here. I would like to see how One Plus 3T compares with other top devices (according to my app).
For now the fastest (my app results) are Huawei Mate 9, Huawei P9 ,Xiaomi Mi5s and S7 Edge Exynos as you can see in the compare tab inside app.
I woul appreciate if someone try the app and let us know the device performance in terms of cpu and io performance.
Pesonally i expect a score over 170000.
Please note that scores shown in the comparison area inside the app are the best runs per device until now. I have seen differences in devices with the same SoC because of different software.
Also note that the app tests only CPU , RAM and IO performance.
The test is quick to complete it takes about 1-2 minutes.

How come so poorly in these benchmarks?

I wonder why the G3 doesn't score better in comparison in these tests? Even the G2 did better in some.
http://appleinsider.com/articles/14...ess-outperform-competing-phones-in-benchmarks
Because of screen resolution.
Not entirely, its more about optimisation. iOS devices have always done well in Sunspider because OS and browser optimisation is by far the most important factor. The fact is the differences you see here are probably not even noticeable to the user anyway.
Also remember that the article was on Apple insider, the benchmarks are cherry picked to make the iPhone look good. Its also been reported that Safari is somewhat 'designed' to win at this benchmark.. if you get my meaning.
For what its worth my G3 did Sunspider in 726ms, not the 875 quoted in the article..
to be quite honest I was sad when I saw poor marks in an tu tu and geekbench, initially. but later I thought f*ck that. it gives me what I want- a gorgeous screen with smooth performance in heavy game like asphalt 8 and playing videos in 2k and 4k resolution with ac3 and dts sound with 21/22 hours battery on a single charge. so no worries about how much the synths performance goes in the south
slower RAM, throthling
G3 has slower RAM than G2. Looks like Lg sadly wanted to save some money.
And now G3 is crapping out in RAM extensive benchmarks!
I hear also G3 can overheat and throthle in benchmarks thus worse scores than G2.
Maybe some devels can bump up clocks on RAM, but I don't know about the heat. In my opinion G3 realy needs all aluminum case at those speeds to dispatch heat better. The heat is becoming a BIG PROBLEM in so fast smartphones.

Display causing it. Adreno 330 is not a powerful GPU for QHD displays. Yes there was some overheat problems but it solved, at least its %90 of overheating problem solved. RAM management is not a problem. RAM is good and works really nice it doesn't makes any lag or freezing crashing etc. Got 41K on benchmark at most. When i first benchmarked it was 31K and it was biggest disappointment of the year.
Its NOT the display resolution!!!! This has been covered over and over. The G3 under performs even in pure CPU benchmarks that dont even involve the display, its because of excessive thermal control. Tweak the CPU governor, disable as much of the thermal control as possible and it becomes much quicker.
For example my G3 out benches the N5 and G2 in Basemark X GPU tests if I force it to scale up. This murders battery life because the only way we have to force the issue is to force it. We need a custom kernel so we can set better CPU limits and get rid of LGs junk thermal control.
This is how my F460 (Prime) did with Sunspider. Higher end SOC & Adreno.
Once we get custom kernels and roms (if we ever), the scores, and even battery life will improve. LG G3 stock rom is so heavy compared to pure AOSP or even CM. We need some AOSP love. This device will fly...

To be fair, the numbers you're getting on the G3 720p 3dmark test mentioned in the report are higher than that of the ipad air or the ipad retina according to 3dmark's own records.

So your devices are outperforming Apple's best tablets despite them not being optimized for benchmarks due to throttling (thermal).

Yes. Thermal protecting is nice addition. But when device overheats it makes barely unusable. Cannot make calls due to heat on the top. And i think same Adreno 330 will perform really good performance on up to 1080P devices. But 1440 is overwhelming for it. They should wait and put Adreno 420+S805 APQ8084 which clocks 2.7 GHz (2675 actual). Maybe 420 will perform better on QHD displays.
I also had some issues with LG back in time. But honestly i didn't had any problem with phone except overheating. UI is ultra-smooth comparing to TouchWiz. As a 6 year user of Samsung Android phones it made me feel better. I had some worries before buying to phone due to old fails from LG. But my choice was giving it a try. Now i see how much i did good with buying it. Best phone ever for me. If the overheating stuff is going to solve one day i'd be love my phone more.

Other than LTE CAT 6 version, all of G3 versions have S801+A420. If i'm not wrong its same on T-Mobile, AT&T and International model (D855). I think yours is CAT 6 version whichone released after some months. In performance may a bit better with S805 but in GPU i cannot say such a verified info. Just thought maybe A420 can handle QHD screen. If even it cannot handle, that means devices aren't ready for QHD screens. It's like for example trying to make Watch Dogs work with GT740M. Full of freezing, overheating on card and even burning it. It's another reason for waiting AOSP based ROM. Honestly i want to taste Android L with its pure edition like on Nexus 5. But LG's original ROM's doesn't has that much bloatware and it made me happy and that's why i can wait for it. But sadly no one seems to successful on unlocking bootloader. In my prev. phone SGN3 i had to delete at least 100 apps whichones are useless. In LG i just deleted 3 apps from operators and providers.

Hope so too but it's looking to be unlikely.
This is the first phone I haven't rooted and flashed with a custom rom/kernel and I've owned many (listed below).
HTC Dream
Nexus 1
Galaxy S2
HTC One X
Xperia Z1
HTC Butterfly S
Nexus 5
That's because the stock rom is decent. Of course rooting is always on the cards because I can flash mods or even test mods that I make via CWM/TWRP and make nandroid backups.
Android L will make this device better!
ART runtime with 60 FPS UI and Project Volta can only make this far better. Regardless of whether it's a D855/F400 or F460S.
Problem with LG is timely updates. Imo, the least they could do is to let is unlock the bootloader to compensate.

Android L is one of exciting stuff that i want to see with ART runtime. Same problem on Samsung. In Turkey samsung devices never get any attention and softwares mostly buggy. I reported one of bugs and they banned me on their facebook page for reporting a critical system bug. Samsung is really loving its customers. Hope LG is not going to ungenerous on updates and send our updates on time. Honestly i have no hopes that we can see Android L before late 2015.

Everything opening fast and snappy, even from the cache. No issues with ram management in my case. Could be 3.1.2 fixed this issues for the most part.
Ummmmm...yeah. This phone is insanely fast!! My note 4 received 66~k reading. Lol.
Compared to the LG G4 I used before this is amazingly fast. Don't know if it's cos of the processor or the ram.

Yah, it is a little bit better performer. Overall I'm still uncertain if it's really much of an upgrade though. I haven't used it on a cell service yet nor have modded it yet. Each device is solid and I don't think you can go wrong with either.
Coming from 1+1, 1+x, moto x pure to 3. Definitely feels primo. Love the upgrade.

Just got the phone today and have been playing with it the past couple hours. In some ways not a big upgrade from my Moto X Pure, but as far as speed it's an absolute joy to use. Everything is extremely snappy and smooth.
Coming from a 4 years old SGS 3 and it is incredibly fast. But i guess that feeling is normal coming from that old phone.
This phone is a straight up BEAST!
Have been using the device since the 17th. I have only rebooted it a couple times while I was doing rooting/moding/bootloader unlock because it was required to do so. I have yet to notice a single dropped frame during any sort of task. I have had 0 crashes. My only issue has ram management, but that was quickly fixed with the ram fix for root users; now I can literally have all my installed apps opened and cached in memory. This phone flies.
Indeed fast. Love the swiftness.
Oneplus 3 is extremely fast and smooth like nexus on steroid. Even though the display is 1080p but it was a super AMOLED screen from Samsung and it look excellent for white color calibration. I even think the white color on one plus 3 look more like it was calibrate on galaxy s6 than nexus 6p. Nexus 6p white color calibration i did not like due to it contain yellow tin look on the display and not white white like Samsung galaxy or iPhone.
Way faster than my 2015 Moto X Pure. Obviously not the RAM difference as the OP3 isn't using all of it's RAM, aside from reviewer releases, this is perhaps a bit lacking for some. The 820 is a BEAST! I always wondered why in the recent past they(QC) decided to use the whole ARM Big/Little setup... This quad core is, at least seems to be, much faster than previous generation octacores. Not only in benchmarks but also everyday use. Granted I'm coming from a hexacore, an 808 I believe.
Just goes to show that often times these spec wars are kinda of joke. Why would an android handset need more than 4 cores? Seriously. Give me 2 - 4 that are fast and energy efficient. As much as many here hate Apple I have to throw them some props for their A9. Dual core with only 2Gb of RAM? Driving that display too? All the while scoring really well on performance and battery benchmarks! That is some really great software optimization and hardware engineering.
I may be kind of the odd guy out here but I really enjoy the latest iOS experience, its such a well integrated platform. I haven't owned an iPhone since the 4 or 4s(I think) but they have come a long way since then. Of course I always Jailbroke them whenever possible. The whole Phandroid/iSheep phenomenon is so odd to me. They're both excellent platforms with their own limitations, advantages and quirks. That groups of people literally come out and strongly bash and insult each other over their choice of a mobile phone is so crazy to me. I mean seriously people, you're gonna be Apple or Google's troll/"PR" person? How about everyone just uses what they like to use without this "mine is better than yours" mentality. Who are these people trying to convince? Themselves?
Having said that I've always wondered if I should just pony up a bit more cash for the flagship Nexus device. I've always been curious if it received the close attention to optimization of the software to the particular hardware it was running on. That's what has always made me, at the least, respect the iPhone. If it's done right there isn't all that much better than a thoroughly integrated software/hardware package!
Sorry for yet another rant but I just couldn't help myself....

im in the same boat im torn between the Nexus 6P and 1+3
i like the 6GB of ram on the 1+3 as i do abit of heavy multitasking, however the nexus has alittle better battery (i like my battery to last ages between charge)
i believe the 1+3 is a quad core whilst the 6p is a octa-core
still dont know which to get
The snapdragon 820 is far better than the 810. All the 810 do is throttle. This quad core destroy the 810. Just cause it's octa don't mean anything.

I can't speak highly enough of the OnePlus3. It's smooth. It just flies between apps and any other phone could only, at most, equal it really. Go with your heart
I feel it's faster than my s7e in every day use

To whoever used a phone with better cpu, is the difference worth it?

Hi, I'd like to pick a phone in 300 budget range and I'd like it to last for 2 years without becoming laggy.
I actually can't open my keyboard in a game or sometime in Chrome it take 5seconds to open. I'd like to avoid that in the futur.
I am so dissapointed with my last phone that I really want to avoid that.
So, to those who owned or used something with 650~820 processors, would you sacrify amoled/super battery for the extra cpu power?
(I don't care about gaming)
Could that extra power might be the thing that will let the phone be smooth in the 1/1.5 next years?
Thanks
i also want to use my phone for 2 years atleast
thats why i bought this P2
if ROM is optimized, then i dont think this phone will get laggy ..
currently i am on CustomRom based on 7.1.1 , its smooth and Not laggy at all..
Hi
I've been buying flagships for the past 10-15 years, and replaced a Samsung S7 Edge with this one, and I don't regret it. I'm not going to buy another flagship for a long time, since it's clearly some good phones at over half the price and even less. This P2 is the most value I've ever had. I'm already looking forward to see what Lenovo brings next update.
When Nougat arrives in April, this phone will be absolutely fantastic.
Only downside coming form the S7 Edge is the camera, but I can live with it, and that's the most important part.
Battery lasts forever...
I agree with nandakis , i'm trying different Roms but they are all smooth and no lag . I would recommend the phone
I had before Xiaomi Mi5, the CPU in P2 is quiet good only drawback for me was camera, rest of it is better :]

Yeah. The ram makes the phone very much faster to use. 2 instances of pokemon go works fine, never unloads.

1)G3 has aggresive battery drain and heating issues while in SUMMER P2 is Damn awesome with CustomROM on it , it gets warm but never as HOT as we couldnt take it to ear
2) P2 Camera is Much better in GoodSunlight, but HDR processing is bad on P2 than G3, low light Both are pathetic with slow Shutterspeeds and shakes
3) Opening apps is alike on both phones, but P2 goes ahead in gaming and grabbing internet resources..
Not worth it, you'll only notice the better cpu in gaming and some cpu intensive tasks like unpacking/repacking archives, video/photo editing. Even high end games are running smooth on P2, just the graphics are lowered. The phone feels snappy in everyday use. And trust me you'll be mostly thankful for the big battery.

given the battery trade of for the more powerful chips i have to say no, ive not had any performance issues with mine that i could note. put simply if i had the choice of a p2 with an 820 or its current 625 id choose the 625 every time

Such as GeekBench5 and 3D Mark. I have screen shots but I can not post, I guess being new and all. But so far I have no complaints except for one. Without a case, it is hard to watch anything for any length of time without accidentally touching the screen and backing up of going forward whatever you are watching. The touch screen curve down on the sides and if you touch that while watching a movie, bam, back to almost the beginning or end depending on where you touched. So a case is almost necessary.

Hello everyone.

I had some fun cooling down (in the fridge) my new S20 Plus 5G (Exynos) and got these sweet scores (Antutu, Geekbench, 3DMark)
Enjoy and post yours.
Running stock ATF5 Rom

You can get a xbox one s or x for far less than the price of those phones and it is far superior than them on playing pubg..

Just for fun, I ran Geekbench on mine (S20 ultra Exynos). No cooling or anything, just downloaded the app and ran the test (at ambient room temperature approx 30 degrees C)! It's on stock ATE6.

It s funny - first time i ran Geekbench when the phone was fresh out of the box in got similar scores...939 single core and 2850ish multicore. Also androbench reported a much higher than now (after a week) 1750mb seq read...and now it fluctuates very much ...anywhere from 1.4gb seq read to 1.65...and geekbench without freezing hovers around 899 single and 2700-2800 multi. Can you please do 5 geekbench tests back to back and post the lowest score? I m curious how the thermals hold up on the slightly larger copper vapor chamber the S20 Ultra has. Thanks

Already did it yesterday, ran the test multiple (4-5) times. This was the lowest I got (very first one, I think). After the first test I closed all background apps and ran the test again. They were all similar.

Sorry state of affairs with antutu! Couldn't find it on playstore, so downloaded from galaxy apps (along with 3Dbench), but even after repeated attempts couldn't run the test, so I gave up. It kept on redirecting to playstore (to download some plugin) which showed that the page/app doesn't exist anymore, lol!

Oh wow...sorry to hear that. True that only galaxy store has it. Did u download antutu 3dmark also? Maybe that s what was missing?
Anyhow..you can try the same idea with 3dmark which u can find on playstore and post those results after 5 runs. My idea is to see how much the gpu throttles in the Ultra. Thanks again

Overall speed

Would you say that the Samsung Galaxy A51 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Samsung Galaxy A51 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I'm currently using Samsung Galaxy A51 with Feb 2020 Patch, performance is very sluggish and slow compared to other 6gb ram devices that I used last year, you can "Feel" the delay of animation from fingerprint, opening, and closing apps, I am totally disappointed with the performance of this device, hopefully Samsung can find a way to optimize its software with its hardware capability.
It's a little all over the place for me, but ultimately disappointing. I don't know if it's a problem with my device, but it seems like my phone just ****s the bed during random intervals. There are times when I'll be using my phone and it will be surprisingly smooth considering the hardware, and other times where the animations feel very choppy and unpleasant. I've been running a lot of AnTuTu benchmarks, and I've got scores up to 180,000 when it's doing good, and down to almost 130,000 when ****s going on. And that's not just AnTuTu, these are differences I can feel in normal operations. So it's weird. I'm not sure if it's some kind of hardware bug or I've got some background process eating away performance that I'm unaware of, or something else. It's a real shame, because there's a lot I love about this phone.
But that's my experience. For the record, I have the Latin American variant with 4gb of ram. I still have yet to get any updates on it. It seems I'm stuck with the December security patch (I'm not sure what's up with that).

Think I am having a similar experience, much choppier then I would have expected. Hangs a lot when opening or switching apps. Battery life disappointing as well. I am also on December security patch.
Takes a second for home screen to refresh and load folders etc when going from an app to the home screen, not ideal.
Slow performance
Samsung A51 became slower after the new updates..
Good my variant is the SM-A515F (Panama), I am in with the firmware A515FXXU3ATC5 with security 2020-03-13. It is super fast and very stable, it does not have to be root, just apply disinfestation of garbage apk, through the ADB method, and the phone has shown very good behavior, getting 34 to 36 hours of battery, and in games this Super fast. I recommend you to update your official bases and remove garbage apk, with the ADB method.

Hello,
Good.
What is the packages to uninstal ?
Thanks you
I wanted to chime in here. I just got this device via Sprint so US model not the international one. I was a bit fearful coming from a pixel 4 based on the performance comments. I like plastic phones that have good specs and can be replaced if I drop it and crack the screen (refuse to use cases).
My experience with performance has been pleasantly surprising. Is it as fast as my pixel 4 was, heck no but for day to day use do i really notice enough that makes me regret the switch? Nope, not one bit. Most are probably aware but there is a good YouTube guide to speed this device up. A lot of it is common knowledge via Developer options but some of the other tips are good ones to apply if you aren't familiar with Samsung phones specifically.
How to enable Beast Mode on Galaxy A51: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJ0Lkax0QSs&t=331s
Now if we can get a good ADB bloatware removal guide for this device we should see even further improvements.
Using the debloat guide for the A50 works just fine. The phone looks and works great for me and it's the 4GB version. Fingerprint unlock also works reasonably well and reliably after applying the tips listed on these pages.
It's pretty bad, yeah. My Nokia 7 Plus is faster and a better phone.
Seconded, trick is to remove all the bloatware

I'll second this. Once I removed all of the bloatware (or technically, disabled, via the well known ADB method) and changed launchers (Lawnchair), this device runs like a dream. Hell, Asphalt plays w/o issue and is smooth and fast.
My only gripe so far is that I have been unable to find a working Gcam, the camera software leaves much to be desired.

Hello,
I desabled some apk.
Do you have a list of the apk you desabled ?
Thanks
Why is turning the screen horizontally or vertically so slow? I've never had a phone where it takes 3 seconds for the screen to rotate after I turn my phone until a51.

I was considering a galaxy a51 as replacement for my nokia 7 plus, because of its infamous hardware issue are starting to bother me (display brightness, loose usb port).
I take it from your comment this phone isn't a good replacement
had it for a little over a week now, not a heavy user but moderate (mostly taking photos or using social media).
It's not bad, ofc it can't be compared to a flagship, but for simple daily tasks it's more than enough at this point
opening the camera takes quite long sometimes and apps tend to take a second or two to start, but then they're pretty fast and snappy
paid 280 € for it and that seems absolutely reasonable to me

The cure for lag is simple, I've used it on every Samsung device since the S2:
Uninstall or disable all the bloatware you can. Install another launcher (I use Nova) - set all animations to the fastest.
For good measure, disable all animations in settings -> developer options.
Lag gone.
CAVEAT I don't do gaming (life is too short) so can't comment on that.

Probably due the low end processor Samsung put on it, sadly it has its limits
I've setup several A51's for people and it is hands down the slowest budget phone I've used in awhile. If you have Verizon, I strongly recommend the A51 5G UW or the S20 FE instead. The Snapdragon 765G and 865 are much faster and seem more stable. Given that the 5G models are also affordable, I cannot recommend the regular A51 to anyone.

Yes, perhaps. But...My wife and I both have the A51 and I have recommended it to my brother. He and his wife now have the A51. None of the 4 of us play games, and we all are between 70 and 80 years old. For us, it's the best phone we've ever had and I sold my S8 to buy the A51. At my age, the S8 was just too small and had a good but limited Camera. The A51 is perfect for all our needs.
It's a great phone for the $279 we each paid IF you don't do any heavy gaming. It's plenty fast enough for us old folks.
