The 10 is a different beast. It uses a Sense-based rom. There are, however, a couple of developers working on it with some limited success. I've run CM roms for years on Samsung devices until I finally bought a 10 then flashed Viper. I can tell you that Viper is the most stable and bug-free rom I've ever used. CM roms are typically riddled with bugs related to the proximity sensor and bluetooth issues. Check the xda forums for the progress of CM for the 10. Good luck, lol.

Well then you will have to get a Nexus phone. The AOSP ROM as published by Google without modifications is basically the Nexus stock ROM without Gapps. The only developers that I am aware of trying to stay as close to "pure" AOSP as possible is the JDCT developers, but they only develop for the Samsung Galaxy S4. The largest number of custom ROMS are CM-based. So, if you are wanting something close to a "pure" AOSP ROM for the HTC 10 that would be the stock ROM that came with the phone. Of course, you could root that by itself if you like.
Not good enough for me.

Yeah, enjoy that "rich" feature set of the pure AOSP rom. lol
Cyanogen is mostly stable now. Very few bugs left. There is one AOSP based ROM I know of, but I can't personally get it to work. After optimizing apps on first boot it crashes. I'm sure they'll get it working eventually though - http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/development/rom-validusos-m-gzr-23-08-2016-t3446373

Same here but the earlier versions boot fine i even started from the first one and dirty flashed everyone but on the last one it wont optimize apps.there is a aokp rom also.
Sense Home is the launcher. It's pretty much stock Android. Depending on what you're after, switch launchers and you may not even see a difference.

They are working on it.. But in all fairness flash venom (MM) and the mods you want and you won't notice.. I've got the pixel launcher with a full theme and its flying just as it was in the cm roms.
When you flash viper just delete HTC sense and run any launcher you want

Hi, I am currently a vibrant owner but I am getting sick of the GPS issues and the lack of support mainly a full source of 2.2 that runs good aside from just fast. Tmobile is sending me a G2 and I will have some time to see how I like it, I was looking for some input as far as roms and kernels go for if I decide to keep it.
I had a mytouch 3g before all this and loved the cyanogen and noticed there was a cyan rom for this and I would love to get some input on how it is, good or best or what have you. If you know of any better as far as functionality and speed go please toss me some idea so I can begin researching it.
There is a CyanogenMOD 6.1 (Android 2.2.1) ROM for the G2, They are actively working on CM7 (Android 2.3) and I would expect it to come out in the next month or so.
I'm still on the stock ROM because I'm waiting for CM7.
Expect the G2 to be similar to the G1 in terms of the amount and variety of roms. There appears to be quite a bit of support for this device.

Cyanogenmod and visionary have been the ones I've used and both are excellent. Cyanogenmod has been written about in how great it is, and visionary is a great sense rom if you care for that stuff.

Check out miui rom in android development! I'm currently using it! Its awesome. I went from stock to CM 6 then Virtious then MIUI. And I think for me Miui is the best rom, it incorporates so many things...and the new release is even more awesome.

Great thats the first one I had found for it just wanted to double check! TY
Most of the roms seem to have retained Sense 4. And the Sense roms seem to be updated more frequently.
I like the new Sense but want to try something different. I'm coming from Android Revolution which I like very much.
Want a ROM with lots of improvements to optimize performance, smoothness and speed, based on the latest ICS version, with bone-stock APKs and no bloatware.
Suggestions? What are my best couple options even....?
I'd recommend LeDrOiD and Android Revolution HD, both are updated frequently. But since HTC have not released any new software lately, there isn't much for the developers to do.
Both ROM can have Sense removed, LeDrOiD is easier in this regard.
It seems kernel is currently the hot development area.
Edit, posted irreverent info.
Thanks! I was asking about ROMS not Launchers though.
Ideally I would like a sense-less ROM that came with the stock ICS launcher (even over Apex or Nova).

try JDROID rom then or check the rom thread and see if they give the sense-less option in aroma installer..most roms now do that anyway. or just use rom-cleaner no-sense version and it does the business for you anyway

just by reading the changelog for me there was a few options there missing..plus the closed source attitude kinda put me off that rom anyway of Trips..the guys in the development section here are doing a far great work and are alot more helpful...so i would wait on those guys to get it up and running
I thought camera and wifi hotspot weren't working on CM9 - I use both every day.
Camera worked for me. Hotspot I didn't try, but it's the only thing listed as not working on Trip's build of CM9

Fair enough, and I don't disagree much. In Trips defense, he seems to have a rather large following singing his praises.
I only installed it for testing out GPS. I've gone back to ARHD with my own tweaks to trimming Sense.

Later today I'll be trading my Galaxy Nexus for a One X. Of course the first thing I'll be doing is to dev unlock and get flashing.
I don't like Sense so ideally I'd like to use a CM10 based ROM or at least a de-sensed ROM. I would like something relatively stable. I've had a quick look at what's on offer here in the forums but unfortunately don't have time to read through all the replies to figure out just how stable the ROMs may be.
It would be extremely helpful if someone could recommend a ROM based on this information and maybe give me a brief outline of any bugs. Any information at all is helpful - it's a bit overwhelming coming to a new device as I'm sure many of you have experienced before.
Many thanks in advance.

I personally love the work of Owain94 - CM10 Domination ROM build 6 with paranoid customization and for the kernel used either faux or ncx!
Been using it for quite sometime the only instability is the soft reset that happens on the device but overall its a great ROM!

Currently running CM10 a12 by Tbalden. Only minor issues are that the phone overheats sometimes and CPU values don't seem to stick. Seems fine otherwise.

I think best camera is in Tbaldens JB/CM10 ROM( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696 )...
But its still poor compared to the Sense camera...And if you used Onexed camera mod it is day and night difference, sadly but true.:/
I tryed al rooms and I can say renovate room 5.2.0 is the best, has the most feature included (camera mode, sound mode etc.) Also a excellent battery life combined with the faux kernal , after 2 hours and a half on standby ( checked 3-4 times the clock ) I still had 100% battery .and you can install without sense if you want .

As many of you know, I am much into building kk roms because I believe they offer a very good compromise between performance and the latest trend/features. Of course, a few common features are not working, such as:
- MMS
- Camcorder/video recording
- Screen recording
- OpenVPN (kernel issue: cannot acquire tun interface socket)
Unfortunately these issues cannot be easily fixed by me.

Yeah, slimkat is also one of my top favorite ones. But it looks like a tough challenge. I tried to build it a few times, no clue yet how to make it to work.

My favorite is oxygen ROM android 2.3.7. I'm using my desire as my main phone through the day because I'm using my nexus 5 with a wind mobile unlimited data stick plan for internet at home.
Oxygen seems to be the only ROM that feels fast enough day after day and 100% stable. After using the nexus it was feeling really slow until I tried oxygen.
All the kk Roms look nice and work good for a short bit until they get unstable. I don't think it will ever be possible to fix these issues.

Hey Desire'd folks,
Just to keep you in the loop.. I am still working on my SlimKAT experiment.. It has taken much longer than expected because I have decided to use PA's framework as a base as it appeared to me to offer the ideal base for our device in terms of purity and speed. Right now, I am adding on top Slim's features and also stuff from CM. I can't promise anything.. and I hope that my efforts bring us a working result.
In case I will get stuck with SlimKAT, I would switch over to work on a new PA release. Have you taken notice of Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 4 “Humble Huckleberry”? Is that really Desirable?
Cheers and have a nice day!
