steps:
1. Root your Redmi 1s. follow this. it is fine even if u are in MIUI 8 http://en.miui.com/thread-104048-1-1.html
2. Install Twrp. Follow this http://en.miui.com/thread-224337-1-1.html
3. Choose from a wide range of ROMs, here in the ANDROID DEVELOPMENT Section
ill suggest a few the way u wanted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-1s/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-t3075376
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-1s/orig-development/cyanogenmod-13-0-t3265044
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-1s/development/rom-aicp-12-redmi-1s-armani-t3483484
I suggest u this rom.its official cm14.1 by fefifofum https://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/armani-latest.zip
U must flash gapps from "opengapps " site. Chose arm ,7.1 and then pico gapps. Download them. Then flash rom i.e the first zip i linked then flash gapps after rom. Enjoy. U can watch videoa on using twrp and flashing rom if u r new to this.

Would it be suitable for Lollypop, MM and Naugat or some particular one only?
is possible Fame Hardware run marshmallow or cm13?
if it is, what are the chances of being ported to it? (no chance, maybe, good)

1. Download the zip of the ROM (and anything else you want to flash), and put it on your external SD.
2. Turn off your phone and hold power, up volume and home at once to open the recovery (use TWRP, it's the best).
3. Backup on TWRP.
4. Factory reset on TWRP.
5. Flash on TWRP.
6. Reboot your device. It might take a (long) while on the first boot. Be patient.
Enjoy

Which one are you using?
I'm scared to update to any as tried from Lollipop to MM and got the dreaded bootloop
Did it twice, raw install second time round and same issue
Still looking to install newer OS but so hesitant
Interested to hear what's a good OS to upgrade to also
Sent from ASUS ZE551ML ^_^
Lineage OS = Stock Design
ResurrectionRemix = Stock Design also but more customization options
For the battery, it depends on the user.
Btw, I'm currently using RR
Hi, I'm currently using the latest Lineage OS for ZE550ML (Z008) plus Greenify app with root permissions to ibernate the apps that I don't care about when my zenfone goes to sleep. Thanks to Greenify I can have a lot more battery than the Marshmallow original stock rom.
I have one question: If I want to switch to ResurrectionRemix I have just to flash the ROM with TWRP, but what if i want to switch on CyanogenMod 13? Is it the same way? Have I just flash the CM13 with TWRP? Anybody knows? Thank you!

well, i don't want to be/sound like the 'captain obvious' here ; cos i'm currently facing the terrifying error message on boot: "Can't load invalid boot image"....BUT i strongly believe that the point of installing TWRP is to be able to flash custom ROMs to your phone right?
So what makes CM.13 different from the others? Just like any other ROM, i believe they follow a pattern...same way u installed LineageOS - same thing applies to all... UNLESS:
1. U are new to these whole stuff about flashing and
2. U are uncertain about the kind of ROM u are about flashing (whether or not its meant) for the Laser....
Conclusion of the matter: YES, IT IS THE SAME WAY

For sometime now (before bricking my zfone), i've been asking myself the same question...but as someone mentioned earlier, u r the better judge! But how can u be a better judge of things u hv no idea of right? awesome! u can follow these few steps to make a decision for yourself.
1. Install and use LineageOS for 2weeks (or more--to about a month), then wipe it off and clean install Resurrection Remix for the same period of time. Once u fall in love with one, that's the best for u....OR
2. Install both in dual-boot, use them interchangeably for about 2 weeks (or more). If u feel comfortable with one, u have your choice! then wipe clean the phone to make way for a clean installation of your favorite rom.....OR
3. (I won't advice u to do this, but it may help)....Watch videos about on YouTube, read reviews online et al....and make your decision based on that which u think is best for u....but once again, to pronounce judgement based on someones' experience can be hazardous!!!!!
THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT!!!
BTW, if you care to know what i'm using....Was about commencing my test with LineageOS b4 the zfone went crazy....going with the first option....

u r welcome bro
Hi guys, i know that there is a tuto perhaps to how root the rn8p but it makes me confused, i want to unlock the bootloader and don't know how to do, then i want links of Twrp and how to download regional rom to have back Miui caller and sms apps.
Clear instruction with links will be great and will be so grateful for you i'm on Miui Global 11.0.2 with global variant 128gb.6gb
If you are note sure how to, I wouldn't do it. Many people have bricked their phone trying..
Double post..
I would recommend waiting for the version of MIUI11 with Android 10 to come out since the version that we are currently is a "stable beta" which contains many Bugs (and the well known hard bricks).... If you want to start with the most basic thing is to unlock the bootloader, simply follow the instructions in this post (and backup your data!) :fingers-crossed:
