Replaced USB port, now no sound from speaker? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I recently replaced the usb port on my LG G3, and while re-flowing the port i knocked off one of the resistor banks and re-flowed the IC directly below the usb port.
has anybody got a high res image of that area of the board so that I can ascertain if I am missing any of the components?
i think i am missing one of the 0102 resistors from the back.
Cheers .

found the schematic.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/lg-g3-d855-service-manual-t2890900

discovered that the flux that i used to de-solder the usb connector and gummed up the springs contacts for the speaker , so i dropped the board in some alcohol to remove what i could and added a bit of solder to the speaker terminals to give it a bit of height.
works like a charm now.. i can stop looking for a new phone.

Mini USB extension cable?

I've bought one of the adaptors to allow normal headphones to be plugged into my XDA Orbit. What I'd like to do is plug a mini USB extension into the XDA then on the other end plug the adaptor in. Ideally it would be 2m long and obviously be male - female. The main reason is that my adaptor lets me charge my XDA up aswell and I don't want lots of cables in front of me. So i'll plug the extension in and run it into my glove compartment, were I'll plug in my fm transmitter and car charger.
Hope this makes sense, i've spent ages googling to try and find one but i've had no luck, any ideas?
I was also searching for one of these and failed. Post back here if you succeed.
Mini-USB extension cable
I found a single source at
http://www.pc-mobile.net/gugf.htm. It's item number CMUE about half way down the page.
I also found some folks who seem to be prepared to make almost anything at http://www.cypressindustries.com/contact/index.html

Mini USB extension cable
I had the same problems finding a mini usb extension. Then e-bay came to the rescue! This guy
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/techno_toys/
has just what you need, a 1m long mini usb extension cable for less than £10.00 !
Cheaper and faster than waiting for it to arrive from Hong-Kong

Thanks all, google a mini usb extender and this was the first thing that came up. Can't believe these cables are so rare!
FYI my supplier was Keven from Techno Toys on ebay UK http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZtechno_toys
those links you posted don't have USB mini female to USB mini male.
I only need it to be 3 inches.
also, would that 3 in 1 work for my wizard?
Thanks!

This is a link to the current listing (as of 11 Feb 08):
mini usb extansion cable on e-bay
3 were listed, but 2 have already gone. They are 1.2m long too, not the 30cm that you need, but maybe you can cut/re-solder it? They are pretty rare though, so not sure I would risk it!

These wont carry the audio though. They are only 5 pin and carry data only. Ive got one of these cables and the 3 in 1 adaptor. The adaptor is extusb and has 11 pins, and this cable is regular usb with only 5 pins. Not only that, they dont actually fit together as a male extusb is a slightly different shape to the female regular miniusb. Obviously Female Extusb to male miniusb would work, but this cable is the wrong way round for that.
made my own
I was also looking for one to use in my car. Couldn't find any so I made one. Used a vga cable, cut the htc usb charger/2.5 headphone splitter that came with my touch, and soldered the cables together. I'll post pics tomorrow if i get a chance. Btw, i got lucky, because while trying to solder one of the last cables, the yellow cable that connects to the end of the 2.5 headphone jack came off. Luckily, it wasn't the cable that was for left or right channel.
I couldnt find an 11 core cable small enough to look good. VGA cable isnt too thick though... tempting.

Nice, I wish i had soldering skills. everytime i try to solder, the solder never bonds.
I tried heating up the wirers, but the solder always bonds to the tip or combine with the solder coil again.

OK, sorry, I had used it OK with my Motorola phone, and that did the audio OK. Didn't realise there were more pins in the PDA cable.
11 pin extension cable
how many wires are needed for power and Stereo?
I am Guessing 1 for right, 1 for left, 1 for Power, and for ground. I am asking because I want to make my own, but I do not want a big diameter cable.
I have the 3 in 1 splitter, so it has everything I need except for length. Is a 4 wire cable all it really needs?
Anyone?...
Here is another source for Mini USB Extension
Man are these cables ever hard to find. I have been looking for such a cable for a long time since I recently found this other guy on ebay. He has 2m (6ft) and 3m (9ft) versions, all USB 2.0 compatible: kabelbaron on ebay I think he ships worldwide, too...
(I think you can also get to his recent items through http://www.kabelbaron.de).

They look like standard 5 pin extensions to me.
People in this thread are looking for extUSB extenders that have 11pins.

What works for me is to melt a tiny bit of solder on the tip, then touch that melted solder to the wires. It will transfer heat to the wires and you can add more solder from another angle. Wipe the tip on a wet sponge after every use. This leaves a thin layer of clean solder on the tip. If you let the tip go uncleaned for too long it turns totally black and conducts heat poorly. If you buy tip cleaner you can sometimes get the black off.
Also, if you have tiny things to connect and little space to work, put a bit of solder on both things first, then touch them together and the heat will transfer into both of them, melting them together. Keeping them steady after you pull the tip away is key to a strong join. If they're trying to pull apart as the solder cools, the solder will look more dull than shiny and be easy to break.
Also, be absolutely sure you get 63/37 (63% tin, 37% lead) solder instead of lead-free because lead-free doesn't melt till a much higher temperature and that's more likely to damage your electronics. Also, I could barely melt the lead-free solder with three different irons I tried and it was very hard to make it bond to things.

USB power uses a +5V and ground pin on the top row.
Audio uses 3 more pins along the bottom: left, right, and audio ground. There's also two mic pins along the bottom you might want to tap into.
See http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ExtUSB
I found a good source for mini usb extensions of all kinds. This site really was the best site for USB and Firewire cables. I got mine today.
Edited: This cables are 5pin, just for data and power not for audio.

Making Headphones To Fit Mini Usb

I want my in ear headphone to connect to my phone but it uses mini usb, so i have brought a mini usb connector end from a computer shop in town, ive got a old set of headphone to cut up but what pins on the connector do i soilder the wires to???
The plug for the headphones is not a standard mini-USB.
You need a headphone adaptor lead from eBay or somewhere.
I know mate, i need to know what pin on the phone runs the sound then i know what pins to connect my wires to on the usb connector and my earphones.
Custom earphones to usb
1. leave the usb plug alone, the first possible point to grab analog audio is the mic/volume slider combo.
So, either pry open the small mic/volume slider box and solder your new headphone cables into that (make sure to remove the isolating paint from the wires (e.g. by burning),
or open the original headphones and your new ones and just resolder the headphone cables - my recommendation, for usually being easier.
have fun

i remember seeing an article on one of the PPC websites 6-12 months ago when the artemis was still a new device. the article showed step by step instructions with photos and even specified the components required.
unfortunately, i can't remember where i saw it (sorry) but at least you know it exists and with a bit of help from our google friends, you may be able to find it.

Tiny USB Cable

So I had installed a 2012 Nexus 7 in my car dash. That went relatively easy since you could just move the ribbon cable for the charge port and plug almost any cable into it. I have it apart and decided to upgrade to the 2013 version. The problem is the screen is attached to the same board the Micro usb port is soldered to and I have almost no room on the side of the tablet. It being a Hair taller is killing me. Does anyone know where I can get a very low profile micro usb cable? Something similar to what is attached to this charger. Need it to have data as well. Or if anyone has any ideas on what could be done I'd like to hear.

I want to use 90 ° micro usb cable, that would not fit?
An Idea
The board with the micro USB can easily be removed with a small screwdriver so it would just hang behind the nexus inside the car. That's no good if you plan on using the nexus like a regular tablet.

[Q] Replacing USB jack...

I bought an I747 and need to replace the USB jack. I bought a replacement on eBay and the jack has about 11 pins on the back that solder into the circuit board. There are 6 pins reasonably spaced that appear to be the USB ccircuits. On the outer edges are groups of pins very close together, one side has 2 pins the other has 3. It is very difficult to not bridge these pins with solder. I'm wondering if they serve an individual purpose or can they be soldered as a group? I am getting the USB not recognized error also. I have managed to solder then individually as far as I can tell. Anybody know what those putter pins do?
