Loophole in Lock screen? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hey guys pardon me if I'm the only having this problem. But you see I can unlock my OP3 without fingerprints although I had registered one.
So it is started when I have this very bad migraine. I just push the power button, and the lock screen showed up. I used the voice search because I can't type with that excruciating pain. Specifically I searched " How to relieve migraine". Then google read it for me and when it was done, I tap the home button with my unregistered finger and it takes me back to the homescreen, UNLOCKED. I have tried other question to voice search such as "who is the tallest man in the world" and google said the phone has to be unlocked first with fingerprints or PIN code. But if I ask something like remedy for pain, the google just directly search it for me and when I tap the home button using unregistered finger, in unlocked. FYI I am still running OOS 3.2.7, I am just curious if this problem still exist in the latest update. I don't see this as a feature and I'm wondering if this loophole is present in all devices. It would be nice if you guys can try and reply so that I can be sure I am not the only one.
Sorry if this question/problem had already been asked and if there is a patch please give me the link. I still have this migraine and appreciate if you guys could help.
Thanks.
Sorry I think I have selected my voice as trusted voice. This thread can be deleted. I'm such a noob.

**Possibly Solved** No SMS, MMS Notification During Standby/Sleep

I think I may have stumbled onto a solution to our dreaded quiet phone that doesnt notify us of a SMS or MMS and possibly email when the phone goes to sleep or standby. I have searched asked inquired, and beat every search engine and found absolutely nothing. So being frustrated of seeing msgs pop up when I hit the power button to wake the phone up I went hunting and I think I found it. I tested this all of today and so far I havent missed one yet, and normally I miss at least 3 a day. Its still in a testing phase so I DONT guarantee this works, but with some feedback with others, it might be the solution. I did alot of comparing with my other phones and my 8125 and 8525 had a different value so i changed it to that value.
I have made it a cab file so that anyone who wants to try it can uninstall it if it doesnt work, I suggest a soft reset after making this change. This changes the following location:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:00000001
to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:00000000
Good Luck! And if it works or doesnt, please leave feedback of either thanx or didnt work, like I said so far its working on my att tilt 2 stock eu rom 1.86
Nice one, but its already been solved here.

Well at least its here, I know there is a ton of posts going around in here about this problem, and I did munerous searches, but obviously if you dont get the right keyword you'll never find the post.
so what does this do? light the screen up everytime there is a message? or basically just solve the problem of message not ringing in sleep mode?
Basically it does the same thing it did with the 8125 and the 8525 when a msg comes in the screen wakes up from sleep, so far (I thought) I might have found a solution, but it seems I was beaten to it.
So far there isnt a solution found yet of the alert coming thru without lighting the screen up as far as I know.
yea, i thought it lights up the screen when msg comes. I have a habit of putting the phone to sleep without locking it, so it might cause problem when i put it in my pocket as i receive message more than calls.
Thanks anyway mate

Yeah but if you have the end key setup as a long hold it will lock the screen to prevent that accidential tapping of the screen. Unless you have a modded rom then you would have to see what key it is. But hey for me its better then missing a msg.
Hi AngelDeath,
Just wanted to say thx for this one -I realise this thread is old, but it's sorted my no sms alert issue on my HD2. It had been driving me nuts for ages!

question about WidgetLocker

I was trying a great phone lock widget WigdetLocker lately on my evo froyo. But I noticed one thing I dont really like, hope it's just me who did not how to setup correctly, and you guys can help me out.
I realized the app i was using before lock, it's gone after unlocking. For example, I was commenting some friends status on facebook, maybe have to leave for a min, then widget locked my screen, then i came back, and unlock the phone. it just leaded me back to home screen. it's really different from what i used to before i installed widget. I mean, unlock the phone, sense just directly backed to the app before phone locked.
So it's just me, who didnt setup correctly, or it's some con the widget has for current widget. Anyone can provide some help please?
If you are using the Home button, rather than slide to unlock or a button set as unlock then it will indeed go to Home. This is intentional. But slide to unlock will take you to the last opened application.
There is some shady pirated version of my app that has this bug. The solution is to not pirate the app but buy it from the Market or send $2 USD to [email protected] by PayPal. Not accusing anyway, just noting it.
Buy the app if you didnt it rocks. and as above if you use slide it works fine for me going right back to what i was doing.

[Poll] Do you use face unlock, pattern, etc?

Just curious about what kind of security people use to unlock their phones. I played with the face unlock when I first got the GN but eventually got too impatient. I'm trying to decide if continuing to "Improve face matching" will eventually make it fast almost every time, or if I should just go ahead and switch to pattern or pin.
If you lock your phone, I found face unlock minimize touching the screen and thus less blur on screen
But sometimes I feel face unlock delay my logging into the phone in case I want to do something quick.... I still prefer pattern unlock

I used to have no pin because I like the stock lockscreen and being able to put SMS phone etc in the slide to unlock. Now that aokp has the option for both I use pin and lockscreen. Feels like iPhone lock exactly

I use pattern..but not for security reasons at all. I got tired of pocket dialing people.

Pin. When you think of the personal information on a smartphone it is a little scary. I have droidlost installed for added protection, but I'll only use a pin because anything else is just to insecure. Most pattern locks can be guessed by smudges on the screen in just a few attempts. Face unlock can be cracked with a bad facebook pic.
While face unlock can be hacked with a picture, no one that finds your lost phone is going to know what you look like. I always thought that was an interesting criticism of the face unlock. My friends might be able to hack into my phone, but that's not really who I'm trying to secure it from.
I also used to only use slide, but I have recently become more and more aware of how much information is available to anyone holding my phone. I think identity theft would be pretty easy if I lost it

Yeah, pin and password are the only two that are very secure, but I just use slide. My mentality is, I'd be much more concerned if someone got ahold of my wallet with all my cash, ids, cards, etc, but I don't put a lock on that. I just keep it with me all the time, same as my phone. I've never lost either and don't plan to! But I do have SeekDroid just in case.
Face Unlock, just so that when I get into the homescreen, JuiceDefender has turn on my Data Connection. Oh, and too impress friends too
Face Unlock.
It is much better than nothing and I don't want to key in the PIN every time the screen is locked.
I never carry my own photo with me other than the one on my driver license which I confirmed would not unlock my phone. So I don't see why people say Face Unlock is useless.
I use a pattern, get it wrong and I have a picture of you emailed to me.
I used slide to unlocked before I installed cerberus, might as well use the features.

Actually it would be very easy to find out. Most lockscreens will splash contact information. If you find my phone you will have my name, work phone number, and multiple email addresses. That is at least three ways to google and find pictures for most people. I would argue that this is the most insecure method possible to lock up your device.
Clicked thanks by mistake but thanks for replying anyway

how do you get the phone to send you the pic?
I like to use the pattern, but it gets annoying when I'm just sitting at home texting back and forth, as I have to unlock it every single time. I end up turning the security off lol. Sometimes I'm good and turn it back on when I leave the house.

After enabling Face Unlock, when I touch the power button, I can only see the date, time, and the network name. There is no personal information at all.

Under security settings click 'Owner info' to turn it on. Shows whatever message you want to the hopefully honest person who finds your phone. Only hitch is that if the phone is plugged in it just says "charging xx%" rather than the message. Don't know if that is a bug or if Google just figured that if your phone is plugged in it is probably not lost.
I'm using a PIN because I installed unlock with WiFi and it requires it. When I'm on a registered WiFi network I just slide to unlock.

also, i feel that pattern unlock can be easily seen & remembered by people standing behind you even from quite a distance, as compared to pin/password lock
No. I'm ugly enough and don't need to be reminded of it constantly.
Neat trick though.
i wish there is a slide --> pattern unlock. i want the quick camera access and pattern

WARNING: Talkback feature

I was fiddling with my phone settings and testing a few features. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT ENABLE THE TALKBACK FEATURE.
After enabling this feature, my phone began to freeze on every screen while the voice assistant keeps speaking as I try to press anything on the screen. The entire phone just bugs out. Can't swipe or scroll. Can't select anything. Can't get to the settings to disable the talkback feature because I can't scroll. Can't do anything basically.
So, here I am with a brand new unusable HTC One M8. This is my 2nd NEW HTC One M8 that has defective software. My first one couldn't read any SIM cards after 3 new SIM cards were attempted by a T-Mobile rep.
Try factory reset.

Can't. As I mentioned, I cannot swipe or scroll. Factory reset requires scrolling to 'Factory Reset'. Not only that, I cannot select anything unless I get "lucky". The phone doesn't do anything I want it to do. I have a vid of the issue but I can't link it to this thread because I'm a new user.
If you have an HTC One M8, you can test this feature yourself and let me know if you run into the same problem but I warn you... if you run into the same problem, you will need to get it replaced and your phone won't work. Would be nice to know if this is a common problem but I'm not sure people are willing to take that chance and basically break their phone on purpose. It's like telling someone to press the big red self-destruct button to see what happens lol.
Factory reset from the bootloader..... and talk back works fine. And if it does fail on my phone i re install my rom, i love my unlocked, s-offed M8. Makes it all so easy

How do I do that exactly?
Wish I could show you the vid, then you'll understand exactly how impossible it is to do anything.

Nvm, I figured out how to factory reset when powering it on. I guess my Talkback feature is just unusable?

Sorry, I think you're misunderstanding my previous explanation. I cannot swipe nor can I scroll. I cannot select anything. The entire phone becomes bugged/glitched. You'd be amazed if you could watch the short video I made of it. It's more extreme than you think. Everything just goes haywire.
I'd like to say I'm a very tech savvy person since I do a lot of computer-related design, I can build computers, troubleshoot viruses, clean my registry, and "techie" things. I'm not just some average consumer who bought a phone and doesn't know how to use a smart phone. I'm very proficient with smartphones. With that said, there is seriously something wrong with the Talkback function. Enabling it almost feels like a virus is attacking the OS. I honestly don't need to use that particular function but what if one day I do or someone else might need to use it.
I actually got a new replacement yesterday and I'm not even going to touch that function whatsoever until I find some answers and a possible solution. I have everything synced to my new phone with my contacts, multiple email accounts, apps, social media, etc. and I'm not going to risk running into that problem and being forced to factory reset my phone. If you know the pain of having to reinstall your OS on a PC which I've done dozens of time throughout the years then you'll understand how painful that process really is because you have to reinstall all your software again.
I found another bug on my new phone as well and made a thread about it already. +/- for Selfie Mode doesn't work. Just greaaaaaat.

LOOOOL...ROFLLLLL...
I remember the first time I ever turned talkback on. "Panic" should be included as an official feature. Obviously, like our friend here, I didn't bother to read all the operational instructions that came with it, and thought for sure I had killed my phone.
Hint: you really have to use "2 fingers" to go anywhere!
Cheers

Its a pleasure... glad you made it out without any broken fingers

someone help me,why i can't see google inprint option in security settings?

hello everyone
i want look phone wiht fingerprint but i can't find this option in my device settings so can someone help me ?
Are you using any root, roms or other modification ? I didnt see any accesibility or developer options to disable fingerprint option.
Also try to check gestures, if swipe fingerprint sensor for notifications is missing too, problem might be hardware or you can always try factory reset or clean flashing.
i'm on stock android 10 without root
i'm try reset phone anyway no fingerprint ootion ?
Similiar issues solved with some users by doing;
-Removing pattern or pin unlock(swipe or nothing) then restart phone
-Entering bootloader. Shut down phone, press and hold volume up+power button until phone powers and enter bootloader. Then normal boot up
I dont think these will solve anything but you might try, some say it is a hardware issue and google just saying contact google support.
i'm try but not solved ?

That happened to my 3XL just 3 months after getting it. Google didn't send me any kind of response or replies to any of my emails or calls. Right? I got nothing from them for at least 6 months. And the answer i got was ..... This is a known issue with Google. If you still have an active warranty you can send it in for a refurbished handset. The replacement may take up to 4 weeks to receive.... Sincerely the Google team. That was it. I love several things about my Pixel XL3... But there are somethings that I cannot help but feeling like I've been ripped off and that the joke is on me and the rest of us who chose this phone. No... I'm still at a loss for words to express how disappointed and still completely dissatisfied I am with Google and their cold, care less about you way of doing business. It sucks because they are so incredible in many ways that invite them into our loving preference which has us more than happy to devote our loyalty to Google. Only to find Google doesn't give a ****. Sorry so many words. But theft is how i see it. I paid $1000 for a device they would replace with another used device. $1000 ? Gets me another used device after returning my original because of a known issue that I... you... anyone else this happened to .... has nothing to do with and is not anything we're responsible for at all other than our choice to be a loyal Google loving customer. Theft.... that's what happened to your and my fingerprint function. Google stole it along with your money.
