question about WidgetLocker - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was trying a great phone lock widget WigdetLocker lately on my evo froyo. But I noticed one thing I dont really like, hope it's just me who did not how to setup correctly, and you guys can help me out.
I realized the app i was using before lock, it's gone after unlocking. For example, I was commenting some friends status on facebook, maybe have to leave for a min, then widget locked my screen, then i came back, and unlock the phone. it just leaded me back to home screen. it's really different from what i used to before i installed widget. I mean, unlock the phone, sense just directly backed to the app before phone locked.
So it's just me, who didnt setup correctly, or it's some con the widget has for current widget. Anyone can provide some help please?

If you are using the Home button, rather than slide to unlock or a button set as unlock then it will indeed go to Home. This is intentional. But slide to unlock will take you to the last opened application.
There is some shady pirated version of my app that has this bug. The solution is to not pirate the app but buy it from the Market or send $2 USD to [email protected] by PayPal. Not accusing anyway, just noting it.

Buy the app if you didnt it rocks. and as above if you use slide it works fine for me going right back to what i was doing.

Phone picks up and hangs up when pulled from pocket

The drag up/down (accept/deny call) is really idiotic when the phone is in a pocket, where you have to pull up the phone from the pocket when you get a call. Do anybody have any solution to this problem? are there any alternatives accepting/denying calls?
Yes, this is very frustrating for me also, haven't found a solution though!
Use Lockbot Pro from the market
You can choose from several types of locking screens, and modify them.
Word of advice: get the Pro version, it is much more stable then the free one
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
@fluor: I know a guy that use fluor as nickname...are you from norway by any chance?
Lockbot pro, is a bit lame, it only works intermittently!
I have only tried the free version, and have no intention of trying the paid one, just on the off chance that it may work correctly!!
Surely, a developer would wish to entice someone into paying for their app, by making a trial/free version that actually works!!
What's the bloody point, in making a free app that doesn't work properly, as if I would pay for this rubbish!
HTC should have designed an unlock screen that doesn't hang up your call, simply when you take it out of your pocket, I mean, is it really to much to ask, for a device that costs this much!
It's pretty basic stuff really.... I don't want an elephants ear on a bun, I just don't want to keep hanging up on people when I take my phone out of my bloody pocket!
i also hope for a free app. i see there are a lot when i search for lock, but not sure which actually work.
for the hang up problem, a workaround is to put the phone the other way when you insert it into the pocket, so it picks up instead of hanging up when you pull it up. however it's stupid.

You say Lockbot Pro is lame, but have only tried the free version??
I think you mean the developer is lame if he made an unstable free version?
All I can say is that it works perfectly for me, and I can only recommend it based on my own experience.
I had a few problems with the free version, yes...but I took the chance on the Pro version anyways...after all, what's $1.99 or whatever anyway.
And, now I have a lockscreen that works as I want it
also using lockbot pro now to get rid of the useless lock screen from sense.
but it doesnt solve this prob, as it doesnt lock on incoming calls
I have a workaround for you.
Put your desire in your pocket top first.
Then when you take it out of the pocket, if the screen is pressed, then "gesture" will be the opposite of what is needed to answer the call.
You will do a gesture up instead of down to answer the call. That is how I do it
Pattern unlock is useless too. You still get the slide to answer/reject screen before the pattern thingy comes up.
Is there a way we can solve this with a cooked rom? I'm trying to wait for the 2.2 rom to be ready, but this problem is annoying enough to flash now I think.

No pulling te screen up doesn't do anything, while pulling it up answers it.
I had a htc hero for about 8 months, always had it top down face towards leg.
Use the desire in the same way and never ever had a call in my pants.
I can't believe HTC have made such an elementary mistake.
I ended up buying a flip case for the phone. Solved the problem and protects the phone and screen as well.
Similar Problem
I have a very similar problem.. Because the vibration is so weak I often do not feel the phone go off in my pocket. Due to the warmth of my leg and moving around the phone continuously picks up by itself.
Does anyone else have this problem?
This is very annoying!!!
If I could only choose to answer calls by the hard button, it would solve it.
Has anybody (rooted) tried using the stock lock screen (the horizonal swipe as opposed to vertical), could this solve your problem?

How do I get out of the clock on the Samsung OEM Dock?!?!

I got the dock thingy at best buy. Super annoying thing is whenever I stick it in the dock, it pops up a huge full screen clock. There's no way out of it. when I hit the back button, whatever the last app running pops up, but then when i press home, it goes right back to the clock. Anyone have a solution, or is this thing going back to Best Buy? hehe

Oh that was the other issue I had. When it was on the clock screen, I'd unplug the charger cable and the tab locks up... only way is hard reset holding power button. This thing is being returned to bestbuy first thing tomorrow.
just kidding
seriously? just hit the back button beside home button and it will exit the big clock

It exits the clock ONLY to the last app running, or you can bring up the task switcher but not get to the home screen. annoying. it's been documented on several other sites.

HEHE, I didn't just fall out the back of the short bus, hehe.
It's buggy, real buggy the way the clock works. Several sites have confirmed the issue so it's just something you either have to live with or not use the dock.
I'm just going to return\sell the dock, I don't like the angle it puts the device at anyhow, it's not conducive to the angle I like to have my device while sitting at the desk. I'll get the book cover as the angle looks more adjustable for me.
I returned my dock yesterday for this exact same reason. I was also having issues with the clock mode freezing the tablet and it would stop it from charging.
Funny thing is.. my dock was on the same receipt as my tablet. Apparently the person before me had returned a 10.1... long story short.. the lady got confused, assumed it was my tablet sitting on the counter. By the time I realized what was going on she was handing me a receipt and I was getting refunded the full price of my tablet and my dock. After all the markups and botched preorders from BB over the years I felt no guild hauling ass out of there before they realized their ****up lol.

Karma is going to get you, hahahahahaha. I LOVE the story though, that's awesome!
I'm already in the same club for Karma because I too got my Samsung galaxy tab for free, but using the Red Cross Racing Promo glitch they did with best buy a few weeks back.
Now we're even, BBY has screwed me over with their "Can't use on ANYTHING" coupons, so now we're square, hehe
Does the dock have a magnet that triggers the clock? Maybe that can be disabled? I read elsewhere on the forum that one can change the name of the clock app and that fixes it, but I wish there was a way to do this without rooting the tab.
Sounds like we're all in the same boat.
I've found a reliable way to get out of it but it is still a bother and should not need to be done.
Anyways, I just multitask into a app that has the option to exit via the menu (i.e Opera Mobile). Just exit and your back to the homescreen.
I installed Gentle Alarm and now it asks me which clock app I want to select. I hit back and I'm clear.
I froze the app with TB since I am rooted. Additional thread on getting around the clock here:

If you can't wait, you can do a factory reset (settings/privacy/factory reset). This will erase everything on your tab, including data and apps, but the apps mostly reinstall themselves, and you can move your data to your comp. It's pretty annoying, but that's what Samsung told me to do, and it's been working fine since.
Dock No-Op from MegaGram in the market is an option that doesn't require root. (Sorry, can't post links yet.) When you pop the GT in the dock, it gives you an option to launch DNO or the clock. Check remember preference and select DNO, and you'll be set!

Sounds like a good starting point, but what I'm more interested in is to find out which app it is in Titanium Backup to freeze it instead of putting on this bandaid, any suggestions?
I have a freeze problem with my dock. Posted in other topic. I've saw this one later. I've installed Dock No-Op but the tablet still freezes. No clock is poping out, but it refreshes my desktop every time I put the tablet in the dock. I've hard reset it twice , but still got freezes. Any help?
P.S. sorry for asking about the same question in two topics.

[Poll] Do you use face unlock, pattern, etc?

Just curious about what kind of security people use to unlock their phones. I played with the face unlock when I first got the GN but eventually got too impatient. I'm trying to decide if continuing to "Improve face matching" will eventually make it fast almost every time, or if I should just go ahead and switch to pattern or pin.
If you lock your phone, I found face unlock minimize touching the screen and thus less blur on screen
But sometimes I feel face unlock delay my logging into the phone in case I want to do something quick.... I still prefer pattern unlock
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I used to have no pin because I like the stock lockscreen and being able to put SMS phone etc in the slide to unlock. Now that aokp has the option for both I use pin and lockscreen. Feels like iPhone lock exactly

I use pattern..but not for security reasons at all. I got tired of pocket dialing people.

Pin. When you think of the personal information on a smartphone it is a little scary. I have droidlost installed for added protection, but I'll only use a pin because anything else is just to insecure. Most pattern locks can be guessed by smudges on the screen in just a few attempts. Face unlock can be cracked with a bad facebook pic.
While face unlock can be hacked with a picture, no one that finds your lost phone is going to know what you look like. I always thought that was an interesting criticism of the face unlock. My friends might be able to hack into my phone, but that's not really who I'm trying to secure it from.
I also used to only use slide, but I have recently become more and more aware of how much information is available to anyone holding my phone. I think identity theft would be pretty easy if I lost it

Yeah, pin and password are the only two that are very secure, but I just use slide. My mentality is, I'd be much more concerned if someone got ahold of my wallet with all my cash, ids, cards, etc, but I don't put a lock on that. I just keep it with me all the time, same as my phone. I've never lost either and don't plan to! But I do have SeekDroid just in case.
Face Unlock, just so that when I get into the homescreen, JuiceDefender has turn on my Data Connection. Oh, and too impress friends too
Face Unlock.
It is much better than nothing and I don't want to key in the PIN every time the screen is locked.
I never carry my own photo with me other than the one on my driver license which I confirmed would not unlock my phone. So I don't see why people say Face Unlock is useless.
I use a pattern, get it wrong and I have a picture of you emailed to me.
I used slide to unlocked before I installed cerberus, might as well use the features.

Actually it would be very easy to find out. Most lockscreens will splash contact information. If you find my phone you will have my name, work phone number, and multiple email addresses. That is at least three ways to google and find pictures for most people. I would argue that this is the most insecure method possible to lock up your device.

Under security settings click 'Owner info' to turn it on. Shows whatever message you want to the hopefully honest person who finds your phone. Only hitch is that if the phone is plugged in it just says "charging xx%" rather than the message. Don't know if that is a bug or if Google just figured that if your phone is plugged in it is probably not lost.
I'm using a PIN because I installed unlock with WiFi and it requires it. When I'm on a registered WiFi network I just slide to unlock.

on demand lockscreen?

i always have my phone right next to me but have my phone set up with a pattern unlock security for those moments that i leave it somewhere in a hurry and not worry about someone being able to get into my stuff but since 95% its right next to me i hate having to do the pattern unlock even though i can do the pattern fast i prefer not have too... so is there an app or shortcut so i can have my phone without a lock but for those quick moments that i need it locked i can activate it with just pressing that app instead of having to go into settings and manually setting it up again then remove it?
Not sure if there is an app specifically for that. Best I can think of is you might be able to set a condition using a app like tasker or impel. Basically, "if I press this button then enable this" I'm not sure how well or if this would even work but its worth a look I suppose.

[Q] No Dialpad, Contacts or Messaging

Hi, I'm Kitty. I love technology but it hates me and to be honest any fix past turning it off and on is a little out of my skill range.
I have the Samsung Epic through Sprint, it is less than three months old. I got up this morning and my buttons for the dialpad, contacts, and messaging were gone. I can't seem to get the dialpad to come up from using the numbers on the slide out keyboard, and I tried restarting it. I have handcent sms, so I can receive and send texts that way, and I can call if I tap on the call button through handcent, but I can't get back to the dialpad.
I saw one post like this but it was for a different phone and had no responses. If I missed a post, I am sorry. I'm a noob and unworthy of the help of you technology gods, but if you just give me some fire I will leave Mt. Olympus. (yes I know he stole it, fire wasn't really given)
I have to call and pay our bills today so it would be awesome if someone knew how to fix my phone without completely resetting it.

Are you completely stock and not rooted? And do you sync with google?
I don't know exactly what rooting is, so I'm going to go with no. I didn't modify the phone past downloading a few apps, but nothing recently or anything that I think would use this.
When I say I love technology, I love technology like a muggle loves magic. I think it is wonderful but I don't understand it.
Also I have the lookout app but I don't think I sync with Google. How would I go about doing that? Sorry I'm so dumb with technology.

I have tried to make mine go away or blank out not sure what happened. you might be able to do reset but you would lose your apps and would have to reinstall.
Edit:
Have you tried doing a battery pull and turn it back on? Or have you installed a dialer app?
been on xda since early 2000's, and this is somehow my first post! i guess i followed the rules, and searched, and read and read and reread correctly lol! what's up my epic community, kittikat, & kennyglass123!
are you saying the icons are gone from the bottom dock, or completely gone from the dock and your applications list also? if they are gone from both (which is unlikely), then you'll need to factory reset your phone to get them back. if they are in your applications list (they should be), click applications icon, push the menu button (very left button on bottom of phone that looks like an equal sign inside a half square), click edit, then you can hold down on the phone, contact, or the messaging icon (or any icon), and drag onto the bottom dock. the bottom dock should hold up to 4 icons. the icons can be removed from the dock on accident, or by themselves from time to time (don't know why this happens).
you can also just hold down on whatever app icon you want in your applications list, and place onto whatever homescreen you want, but not practical for the icons you need (which you're going to use all the time).
i also use handcent and don't use the built in messaging app. handcent has a widget you can put on any homescreen, which will tell you how many new texts you have, and can eliminate using the main messaging app. hope this helps!

Ok so I found the phone, contacts and messaging after searching through apps and restarting my phone (they weren't there pre-restarting) Taking the battery out and in didn't seem to do anything.
How do you drag the phone back down to the main dock? I tried following your instructions but got lost. I will be back in a few hours (I have to go to work) and I will try again.
The most recent thing I downloaded was random lolcats a few weeks ago (lame, yes, I know)
And thanks for being patient and helpful everyone
no problem, it happened to me, my sister, and a few other friends with epics also. could have sworn i used to have 4 icons on the dock, and then one day after updating to gingerbread there were only 3. thought i was tripping lol. ok here are the steps again.
1) while your application list is showing, press the menu button (the very left capacitive button of the bottom 4 buttons that light up, below the Samsung logo)
2) choose edit (all your icons should show a minus sign on the top right corners of each icon if done correctly)
3) click and hold down on the phone icon until it starts following your finger, then drag down to bottom dock.
4) viola! profit!!!

Yeah I thought the phone or dialeractivity.apk got corrupted. Did not think it just fell off the dock. Glad you got it working Kitty.
