Hey all,
I've tried flashing my 1st gen note7 with a green battery firmware in hopes it would remove the pop up. Al tho the update went through but unlike on our green battery second version n7 where we've got back to 100% and 0 popups. The first gen still has the pop up coming out. The battery did not change to green color either. As if the firmware flash did not go through but it did.
So the question is, has anyone been able to figure out how to disable the pop up on 1st gen note 7 (W8 version)??
oh i have that pop up message also after i flushed the rom. I asked in sprint xdadev thread and no one know why i am getting that pop up and they are not. I have 1st gen note 7 also. so i guess all 1st gens are getting the pop up. At least it charges all the way up to 100% now.

yeah. I wonder where it is coming from, what is triggering it?
its is nice to have 100% and nice that popup comes on only when charging but still... would be even nicer if we could remove it.

yeah i was wondering the same thing. Yeah good thing that it only comes on when connected to the charger or reboot.
Me too....but its not big deal i recharge my phone only 1 time a day, but i think i need to flash new firmware from sammobile (same on my phone) and after dont open wifi and data...with computer or bluetooth, transfer Disable package with PC or bluetooth....after activate wifi 2-3 seconde juste for activated This APK...close immediatly after registery and remove all update and push message
Own31, check your PM. I explained why you are still receiving the warning message and have no green battery.

hehe where have you been for the past week? PD 6.3 is no longer working =)
We found another way tho but those disabling those apps won't work as Gen 1 is different from Green battery gen2.
I will try to disable that last one, never tried hitting that one (securitylogagent) Doubt it will work but i still have hope. Thx
What is the difference between Gen 1 i from Green battery gen2 ?????? ( I thought is the software update)

Samsung knows the difference based on the IMEI.
The software update will either give you the warning message everytime you plug in or reboot (if you have the original N7), or it will give you the green battery icon (if you have the "replacement" N7). The same update is responsible for both...the behaviour all depends on which version of the phone you have.

well for one, downgrading the firmware on first gen still gives you a popup and gray battery.
downgrading same firmware on second gen ,gives you green battery and no popup.

Wait, so Sammy didn't make any hardware differences to the 2nd gen? Then how did they know it was "safe"?

I thought that wast obvious, thats why i did not mention it.
Yes, as the reports says it was deemed save. The battery was changed, some say their note 7 is more responsive and does not heat that much etc.
Ive had both in my hands and did not see any fvcking difference. Both were awesome. (gave first gen to my gf)
any update on how to remove the pop up message when you plug in the charger?
Non. still have it on first gen.

Running viperROM 5, went to clear my battery stats and hit clear dalvik on accident without realizing it. No big deal, went to boot up phone and it hung at the samsung screen for over 10 minutes so I just thought I would flash back to stock and reflash the ROM. The original reason I went to wipe battery stats was to calibrate my battery, which was almost dead. I switched to a spare that I thought was full, started odin, left the room, and came back to odin saying FAILED. Phone is completely unresponsive, the charge light will not even come on when I plug it into the wall or laptop. The computer does recognize when I plug it into the computer but it doesn't know what it is. Gonna sell it for parts on ebay unless someone here knows something I don't, thanks in advance =/
Even though Odin failed... cant you still get into download mode ?
if you can i recommend using any cable other than the stock one
I dont think your developing anything here so i would say this will get moved to the appropriate thread.
Your battery died. Odin consumes a great deal of battery power. Unfortunately, it failed so you can not charge your battery through your phone. If you get a new battery or charge your battery exteranlly, I bet you can get into download mode again and odin

This is what I was hoping to hear--I'll give it a try, thanks!
Sorry this is in the wrong place, not sure where it should have gone instead >.>
I have heard, though never tried myself so take it as the unfounded rumor that it is, that it is possible to get the phone to boot in some fashion with the battery out of it, then insert the battery while it is on to "jump start" the charging.
I hope I never have to try it because it sounds like it has lots of potential for problems, but if your phone is well and truly dead what do you have to lose?

This actually worked! I can get into download mode, although I don't know if the battery is really charging or not. Either way I'm in good shape, I just don't understand why neither battery would boot into download mode when one of them had about 10% left.
Also this clearly belongs in Q and A, sorry!
Even without the battery as long as your phone is plugged in with the USB it should go into Download mode ... i think
Everything is back up and running, thanks everyone =)

As usual, a claimed brick is FAR FROM a brick, and despite all the notices shouting at them, people continue to spam up the dev section. Come on, people.

Has anyone with the g3 noticed any issues with text contrast issues where it looks like an old vga monitor that hadnt been auto adjusted? If there is black text on a grey or coloured background it has a white glow, if its white text on a dark background it has a black glow
From what ive read this appears to be due to the sharpness setting used so if anyone knows how to adjust the display sharpness that would be great
This is what Erica Griffin noticed on her phone a F400K I believe do you have the same model?

There's absolutely no need to do any kind of "first charge" procedure on phones now.

I just wanted to make sure you were aware that there's not any actual reason for you to do it; just in case you were only doing it because you thought you should or needed to .
Looking forward to hearing how you find the phone!
Had a bit of time with the phone now, installing apps (well watching Google auto-install my apps anyway) and there is a bit of glow, but it is no where near as bad as what Raider seems to have, its barely noticeable at all.
The colour contracts will take some getting used to, as it is very different to the nexus 5 that I have been using recently.

Ok. Now I see it. In person must be more visible and annoying.
I hear from a friend that has one that its not too bad except for on LGs menus and home screen. Its like they have added a border around thier text lables to make it "easier" to read.
My friend said it is not there with an aftermarket launcher (nova, ect). So it is an LG text setting and not a screen issue.
**If somone else here with an LGG3 could load nova to verify that would be nice.**
also is there upgradable firmware in this phone? (not referring to the ROMs we are flashing, I mean the firmware for the phone's hardware itself, nothing to do with Android)
There is an App which is called LG phone info. You should see the manufacturing date with it
First 3 digits of serial number are year/month in ymm format. 507: 5 = 2015, 07 = July.
Are people checking because of the rumors faulty motherboard?

no, and why would it matter, your G4's rewritable internal memory can handle 1000's of flashes throughout its lifetime!
Well, mines is having crazy sections of bootloops for no apparent reason. When it happens it can't enter Recovery. It bootloops even from download mode. When I manage to successfully flash a Kdz, bootloops still come back again after some time. And guess the manufacturing date
check the date in http://imeidata.net/check?imei=<your imei> and go to warranty (or directly http://imeidata.net/warranty/lg?imei=<your imei> )

It was on May. Now it is totally useless stuck in bootloops. Maybe it is the most common manufacturing date and the buggy devices might represent a low %, but not all made on that batch.

???
I have had two g4 that were purchased at same time fail right at the 12 mos
They were both 508 date code
Luckly they both replaced under warranty
When they failed they would get stuck at boot screen "lg life is good" sometimes going through endless restarts or just shutting off where you need to pull battery to get it to try again
Data was recovered by freezing. I put in a zip lock bag in freezer for half hour. It would then boot normally. Needed to keep cold entire time, once it heats up it will stop. So use a bucket of ice or run your usb cable out of your freezer while downloading. Tried using a hair dryer to heat, but that method only worked once for a few minutes.
This is a manufacturing defect, some kind of bad solder joint or similar issue.
From my research, appears to happen more often in summer months, like you leave phone in hot car and a weak solder joint gives out. Heating and cooling works to temporarily cause the electrical connection to work through thermal expansion or contraction.

Could be as you say, i think you put too much faith in them. They just try to cover their behind the best they can.
I provided them with the IMEI when the program started, via a webform because they initially said they will post the replacement and collect the [potential] bomb upon delivery. My issue with them is that now they expect the mobile provider to exchange it. Vodafone said i'll have to give it back and wait until a replacement becomes available (i.e. they don't care).

it's probably deep coded in the firmware leading to it needing a root to do since it is also on the power options screen, so all I would assume is rooted devices would be treat as unrepaired.

Rather ugly. A mic permission alert?
I'm so not updating my N10+'s

If it is a mic icon it may mean an app is accessing the mic. Check to see what's running.
The white ring is wretched...
Lol, I'm still running on 9 and 10... and I like it.
I guess I will hard reset for remove it. I checked everything but couldn't find the solution.
At least you can try 11

Ummm, don't bet on that!
A factory reset is recommended after a major upgrade so there's that. That aside I always prefer finding the root cause whenever possible.
You can also try clearing the system cache.
The highest I'll go on my N10+'s is 10. They run fast, very stable and are fulfilling their mission.
The one running on 9 current load will be 2 yo in June with minimal maintenance. I reboot it when I think about it, sometimes 3 days or more. I'd be kicking myself if I lost this upgrading as at this point they're optimized and have all the bugs worked out or worked around.
You may want to check what apps have permission to display over other apps

I upgraded both Note 10 plus as soon as I got them to android 11, they run for weeks if not months without rebooting and they are fast stable reliable phones. I think your problems is more between your both ears than on your phones...same with battery's. The oldest has its original battery in it...not exploded nor inflated/bulged back yet. Same for the 4 years old Huawei's we have, all running on original batteries, granted their batterie life has degraded but not to an extend that these phones are no longer useful.
You have to change your tune as it is getting old and very boring after being repeated in every tread...
Could it be "Tips" icon?

Your Li battery knowledge is... amusing.
Live and learn then... there's no point to keeping a degraded Li other than ineptitude, apathy or proverty.
I go for years without rebooting will be next
If you expect credibility, keep your s**t tight.

If so you should be able to punch it. Apparently it's static by glitch or design.
