When I try and turn my sound off ,it defaults to vibrate.
Is there a way to turn off both VIBRATE and SOUNDS without it defaulting to another.
Any sounds, including the vibration ,cannot be used when I work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Press volume down until you see all notifications off.
Or press the do not disturb icon on the status bar drop down

Is there any way to have a vibrate and a silent mode both without having to go into settings and change the vibration mode? For example you turn volume down and it goes to vibrate and then if you turn it down again it goes to silent?

SOLVED!
Used Elixer to make a widget that will switch between ring, vibrate and completely silenced mode.
If a mod could close this thread that would be great!
As the title says randomly the notification light, locking sound when you hit the power button, vibrate, haptic feedback etc all turn off. They come back on their own after minutes to hours. Restarting / rebooting phone doesn't fix it. What can be causing it?
Do you have quiet hours set (Sound -> Quiet Hours)?

I do actually. I did not even think of that. I will try turning this off. Thank you for your wisdom!
My g2 would allow for me to have a vibrate only setup, and while it appears that the same setup is available....it doesn't vibrate when set as such in the sound profile, anyone?

Does it ever vibrate?
Do you have vibration on for notifications and ringtones? It could be a glitch and if it's not vibrating when sound is on, it also won't vibrate with it off because the process of turning vibration on is lost?
Well, second time I restarted to get it on vibrate only. I did switch back from art,so maybe there was an issue with that.

You'll have to forgive me, but this seems rather silly and I cant get it going. My previous phone was Moto X (2014). It was set up for notification sounds for when my ringer was on, and if I switched to Android's vibrate mode it vibrated instead. Easy, vibrate in lieu of the sound. Common sense.
Not so with my Pixel XL. In Vibrate mode, the app will only vibrate if I set it to vibrate INDIVIDUALLY in the app itself. Meaning it vibrates all the time, even when the ringer is on. I can't get it to vibrate only in vibrate mode. If I don't enable 100% vibration, the notifications in vibrate mode pop up silently.
I recognize my last device was rather old, but did this functionality change?
I recognize this is probably a dumb question but if someone can confirm there is nothing wrong with my device that would be great Thank you
I have an EVR-L29, for some reason I'm not getting any haptic feedback or vibrate on touches even though it's on in the settings. I'm using gboard and have checked settings in that as well. The vibration motor works as it vibrates on ring. Anyone else have this issue?
Mine seems to be working fine, you might try resetting your phone and starting over. That's the only thing I can think of.
When you turn off the ringer and have vibrate only on, does the phone still vibrate or is the vibration mechanism faulty?

Yeah I'm about to try to do that, hoping I wouldn't have to though. Yes when I put the ringer on vibrate it vibrates.
