I've tried Titanium Backup and even just deleting stuff via Root Explorer.
It seems like I keep running into trouble.
Like simply deleting the original Chrome will cause several non-related apps to force close when opening.
Anyone else?
I'm used to removing dozens of system apps on other phones.
This one's being a PITA though.
Yes I'm running into that problem.

So currently i am running stock deodexed official 2.2 with my own modifications set in place, all from .zips. i cleaned out all of the stock apps that i know will not cause problems and are not linked with other apps. then when i saw all the stuff cleared out in that new "feather rom" or whatever its called, i decided to clear out a few more stuff. now, i am getting the repeated "com.htc.bgp force close." its a few times an hour and its annoying. i think its from one of these three apps: WeatherAgentService
WeatherProvider
WeatherSyncProvider
because everything else i deleted was pretty much independent (eg mail.apk). i already had weather deleted, so i figured deleting these wouldnt be much of a problem. and no, i didnt do a nand backup because im an idiot. is there a way i can replace these apps? or should i just deal with it
When I do restores from mybackup pro it corrupts my apps and causes FCs. This has seemed to happen after I switched to gingerbread. Does anyone else have this issue? I am emailing customer support but they don't seem to have any suggestions.
Titanium backup.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA App
I stopped restoring apps a long time ago, because of corrupted files. Its better to re-download them from the market anyways and run them off internal storage rather than sdcard. I do restore data like browser bookmarks and what not though. Tibu does seem like it is better for these type of things.
I have been experiencing the same problem with MyBackup Root.
I also switched from Android 2.2 to 2.3, stock MT4G to Virtuous Unity. After I restored my apps with MyBackup root, a handful of them force close on opening. I discovered that some of the apps which I had originally moved to sdcard prior to backing them up, need to be moved back to sdcard after restoring, and then they start functioning properly.
Unfortunately some apps, like Firefox, still force close no matter what. I've tried clearing user data, fixing the permissions in ROM Manager, but nothing would allow Firefox to work until I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I've still got several other apps I would like to recover but have not had any success. Worst-case scenario I could go back to my nandroid backup and use another backup program like Titanium for those particular apps but it would be quite a hassle and I certainly would prefer not to!
Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can think of...
[Edit] Just noticed which forum this was posted in... Hard to say for sure if the problem is specific to any device or ROM or MyBackup in general, but it might still be useful.
The wonderful people at RerWare advised the following: In options, check "PM Binaries" and restore...
This has solved the issue for at least one of my apps, and I am now going to restore them all to see how it goes.
Formerly TB worked good. Now free and paid versions force close immediately. Just old donate version from internet works for me. I don't like it very much, because it can't converts apps to system, has less filters... I tried to flash other ROM, clear cache, data, many other versions of TB. Only works donate version. When I trying to open free or paid versions of TB, it shows me black screen. Even SU request don't show.
Help!
P.S. Sorry for my English
Oh, I think it's something with gio's software or hardware, because my friend also has a gio. For him Titanium Backup works perfectly, but root explorer dont work, which works perfectly for me.
EDIT: after instaling cm7 TB start working
Both work in my GIO, Titanium has problems, when I delete unnecessary apps it force closes, after almost every one, but deletes, and I stopped flashing ROMs, so no big problem...
Backup and restore work fine...
Hello,
On S5660M (Bell/Canada) Running 2.3.4 Stock Firmware and Rooted.
Been experiencing weird reboots when freezing and removing certain apps. I can freeze/remove normal apps such as Allshare/Remote PVR/Voice Dialer/Etc.
However, if i attempt to freeze/remove widget apps like Home screen tips/Dual Clock/Etc. the phone reboots automatically. After the reboot, the widget app is removed/frozen according to Titanium. Restoring widget apps have the same effect of auto rebooting except in Titanium it is still in removed state. Lately it dosen't even reboot, it powers down completely after attempting to remove or freeze any of the widget apps.
I am wondering what causes this, and if anyone else had experienced the same or similar. Is there a fix for it or maybe just avoiding removing those widget apps would be the way to go?
I usually just use Titanium and just delete the whole thing if I'm sure I don't want to use the app at all. I was wondering what was the general consensus for getting rid of unwanted SYSTEM APPS on a root phone?
anyone have anything?
I just freeze all of the system apps I don't want. At least with freezing, if what you did ****ed something up, all you have to do is unfreeze the app. If it's already been uninstalled and deleted, you're screwed, and you will probably end up needing to flash a new ROM.
Hello, I hope everyone is doing great.
I'm currently running latest stock android 10 on my G960F D/S.
I am trying to uninstall bloat apps like Excel/OneDrive/Maps, usually I use SD Maid or FX explorer with root of course, and I navigate to system/priv-app or system/app and delete the undesired apk. However, every single time I delete Excel for example, the app would reappear after rebooting.
What is the definitive way to get rid of this bloatware permanently?
Thank You for reading.
It never happen to me before, but maybe you can try using ADB. Like this
I believe it won't fully remove the apps, but it's almost like uninstalling the apps.
Maybe somebody correct me if I'm wrong

Looks like after multiple reboots the apps got uninstalled, weird bug I'm not sure.
Thanks for offering help though.
