Sprint Visual Voicemail options? - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Are there any visual voicemail options for people with the Pixel XL on sprint? I can't seem to get anything working properly.

Would like to know this as well?

You can activate it in phone settings.

Not sure if it's a carrier thing or because I tried to set it up with Google voice but it only dials into voicemail and none are ever shown on the tab, even though I have a notification for vm

It's been so long since I've had Sprint. Did they move people from their old Sprint VVM app to GV? I've been using GV in place of it on whatever GSM carrier ever since I switched from the Sprint Hero. Works fine on my Pixel XL.

Screenshot? I don't see this option anywhere

Best option for you guys is set up the Google voice app and enable the option to integrate with the dialer. Hope that works.

I couldn't get gv to work. When people called me they heard silence instead of my voicemail. Tried redoing the whole setup, no joy. Super weird. I didn't do the integration with Sprint though, because people sometimes use my gv number

Sprint changed the dialer codes for forwarding messages. I think it is now *73. Google never updated the app.

I was too lazy to try. I'm using Google voice. Sorry

Doesn't work no icon or app is installed when flashing this through recovery.

I did try this, you don't flash it from what I can tell, you simply copy it over. I don't have root so I simply installed it and it does launch, however, it can't register itself and can't update itself. Sorry for rezing an old topic but this is the only thread I've found where it isn't just straight *****ing about the issue instead of trying to fix it.

To get visual voicemail, it has to be through the carrier. Telus finally got it up here in Canada and I have been using it since launch

Use this

This is what I use, although I am on Verizon. I love it. It's free and will carry over to any service you use.

Thanks for the updated app, but the account verification still doesn't work, it fails. Maybe we need the "my Sprint" app as well?
Edit:Nope

Google Voice

Not sure where to put this, so I apologize if I'm in the wrong area here.
I can't find anything regarding this issue on XDA. I feel like it has probably been addressed, but where, I don't know.
Since to Google Voice update, myself and others are not able to make outgoing calls using GV. This seems unique to HTC devices, M8, M9, 10. Verizon users get a "Network busy message" when dialing out. Sprint users, like myself, are getting "your number can not be completed as dialed".
Some Verizon users have been able to fix the issue by enabling or disabling advanced calling. As Sprint users, we do not have this option. Another Verizon user (M8 NuSense) was able to fix the issue by clearing data in the phone app.
This issue seems to be that with the update, GV is appending +1 to the outgoing call. When rolling back to the previous version, all is well again. This isn't a ROM specific issue, but I'm on Leedroids latest.
Google Voice help forums have been zero help to us. Someone suggested the downgrade and our issue was marked as solved. Ha, far from.
Is anyone here using the upgraded GV app? Is this a known issue? I don't suppose there is a current fix, so if nothing else, I am hoping to spread awareness. But like I said, I'm sure it's been addressed, I just can not find it. Maybe someone can just point me to the correct thread?
Thanks guys.

I haven't personally tried or used this feature but if you can fix it by rolling back then why not do just that?
There may be an edit that can be made for the newer version to reflect the older version but I'm assuming you would be better reverting back to the old version for an easier solution.
Stop updates from going automatically. I do this anyway, nothing ceases to function.
Sorry this doesn't fix the actual issue but it's a sold workaround unless there's a reason for not wanting to revert back?

Rolling back is my current workaround, and I've disabled updates. As one who despises Hangouts, and greatly values GV, when the update dropped I was thrilled. The revamped UI is Also-ish and blows Hangouts UI out of the water. I'd much prefer to send SMS via the new GV app vs Hangouts. GV is my primary number and having to rely on Hangouts to send GV SMS hasn't been reliable. Half the time it won't notify my of new messages unless I completely back out of the app. I find myself double checking my phone often to make sure I've closed out the Hangouts.
I would imagine many users here are well aware and make use of the benefits of GV, so more than anything I wanted to bring attention to the issue, not so much expecting to find an answer. Also curious to see if anyone has NOT run into the issue.

Don't use GV for anything other than searching myself, unlimited texts and calls from my provider so i have no need?
What about one of the modders like team black out? They may have a modded version of the newer ones? They've got a thread on XDA (just search for it)
I use their google app and pixel launcher to have it all blacked out.
Sorry can't be of more help mate

Yes, your assumption is correct. GV app > make all calls using GV. That is what is not working for me with the update. Is it working for you?

I use it simply because I can send SMS from all devices, and I can switch providers and not care about my number. Just moved across country, went with a new provider (unlimited everything), and could care less what number they assigned me. I don't even know it lol
*AND visual voicemail

Haha Honestly, no. Not used to someone trying to be so helpful.
I found the issue to be that the ROM I was on, while it supported Sprint, carrier specific settings have not been implemented. I found this out while searching how to do a profile update. To do so, I had to flash a carrier specific ROM. Once I did that, GV worked, as well as profile update. Looks like the next update to Leedroid is slated to have these options.
Keeping my eye on that linked thread, though. I themed GV would be sweet. Thanx buddy.

[MS428] Does Metro Visual Voicemail actually work for anyone?

I mean, it's supposed to transcribe messages, right? Mine sure doesn't.
Not a single answer?
I didn't think anyone ever used it. Visual voicemail has always sucked, regardless of phone. T-Mobile I'm assuming? I'll test mine for you shortly and report back my results.

Nah, MetroPCS. Their built-in app sucks. I miss the Google Phone app, with VM transcription. It's a shame I can't get even the SDK 23 versions to work on this phone.

Dur, if I tried reading, it's all over this post that you're using Metro. In my time with MetroPCS I never had the visual voicemail work.
And you're trying to use android dialer? Yeah, since this phone uses a custom LG UI it will be a bit of a pain.

Google Contacts worked, though it's pointless without the dialer.

Phone call issues

*EDIT
This is a known issue per Google. Thread on their product forum here https://productforums.google.com/for...A/tMN4y-GZAAAJ A huge thank you to uicnren for finding it!
I can't seem to find other reported instances of this when web browsing so thought I'd try here.
For the past week or so, anytime I make a phonecall there is no sound to indicate the phone is actually ringing. It's just silent until someone picks up, I get voicemail, etc.
Conversely every single time someone calls me I'm having to press option 1 to talk to them instead of just answering normally. (this part is a user option I've since disabled).
Not sure if I did something to settings, if this a bug, etc. It's driving me nuts though so any suggestions would be appreciated. I have not tried a factory reset yet because if I can about the hassle I'd like to.
Currently running 8.1 March update, on the non Verizon version. Bootloader is locked, not rooted.
Should also add that I use Google Voice, so maybe the issue is on that end.
Thanks in advance!

I would first try clearing the google phone dialer app cache and data, reboot, and see it helps. If not, then I would uninstall it, reboot, then dl it again from the play store :good:
Or, side load the April OTA update

I just looked through the Gvoice settings and didn't find anything (that I could tell) that does that. But thanks for the suggestion!
I think it is the Screen Calls option, under the Calls settings in the web interface. Don't quote me on that.
I have the same problem regarding not hearing the ringing sound when making a call. I also use Google Voice. I have not experienced the press option 1 to answer problem.

Okay so I was able to get rid of that (it's the option that asks if you want to hear the name of the caller, definitely doesn't work like I thought it would).

S20 just wont get home up or chat features.

i have no idea what else i can do. ive searched everywhere but cant find a reason why my s20, completely updated, has no chat features option in the settings and home up just wont show up in goodlock. im on verizon if that matters
Did you use google messages with the chat features enabled on your previous phone? I used to use google messages on my old phone and when i switched to the s20 the stock samsung messages app would not receive texts that were using the rcs features. But when i installed google messages and activated the chat features all the texts that were pending showed up at once. So now im stuck using google messages. Might be the same issue for you?

So after doing a bunch of different things to fix not getting chat messages what seems to have fixed it was turning off the chat feature on Google messages since that's what i was using cause it worked. Waiting 5 minutes(for it to send the request?) then changing the default messages app to the stock Samsung one. Then changing my sim card to another phone, should say refreshing sim data. Text the people that you had issues with. After like 10 to 15 minutes and verifying that you get the texts, switch back the sim card to your phone and it should now work.
This has worked for me so far all day today. I previously tried resetting phone, deleting contacts, changing sim for a new one and nothing fixed it. Let me know if it works for you.

Question Phone by Google Update

Anyone else get the update for Phone by Google last night and visual voicemail tab at the bottom disappeared ? Also when clicking on Voice Mail in settings, the options flash quickly and disappears. Or is just me.
Yeah, the same for me.
I looked and I'm apparently on the beta channel of the Phone app, which hasn't been updated since 12/8/2021. I don't use visual voicemail since I use Google Voice, and I don't have a problem when I click on the Voicemail settings.

I might switch to beta. On this latest update they did fix the favorites sort order. It doesn't change automatically like it did.
I got the update last night, the tab says "voice mail", I'm not sure if it said "visual voice mail" before, but the voice mail settings don't quickly flash and disappear for me, they work as usual.
I'm also on protonAOSP, maybe that's why.

I might switch to beta. On this latest update they did fix the favorites sort order. It doesn't change automatically like it did.

Finally! It seems like years that I've tried keeping them in my own order and they would get switched back eventually, so I gave up. Or did they fix it before and then broke it again?
