Unlimited Tether - Do I need to downgrade android version? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am looking for a ROM for a t-mobile HTC one M9 that is android 5.1. Currently I have android 6.0 with viper rom installed. My problem is I need unlimited tethering and I can no longer do that without hiding my tether usage. I used to be able to tether by USB all I wanted on another HTC phone but that was running android 5.1. I have Metro PCS and I wou.d use PdaNet and it worked perfectly.I looked for a long time and tried a lot of things to hide the my tether but nothing works. I head read that you can no longer do it with marshmallow 6.0 and you need to run 5.1 or possibly some other version just not 6.0. I am not 100% sure that is true or what the deal is on why I can no longer hide my tether but it makes sense. The phone I am using is a t-mobile phone although I am not totally sure if that matters either. If someone can help please let me know it is greatly appreciated.

No one knows about this? Regardless of the methods needed ultimately I just need to be able to tether without using my hotspot allotment of data.

[Q] Reverse tether on CM7 without sense

I recently rooted my first android phone with CM7. I'm extremely pleased with the result, but didn't realise that I'd lose the ability to reverse tether the phone over USB, because I'd no longer be using HTC sense.
I really don't want to go back to the stock rom just for reverse tethering, however the only way I could get internet at work was using the HTC sense 'internet passthrough' option on the phone, along with the sense software for windows.
Is there any way to reverse tether my android phone over USB (not wifi) while running Cyanogenmod 7? I'd like to avoid using my data plan when I can.
I as well have the same data cap issue with my carrier and would like to minimize my data usage. I'd prefer to have the reverse USB tethering option since open WIFI networks can leave your data exposed. I particularly don't care for HTC sense and can't seem to depart from my rooted cyanogenmod 7 ROM at this time.
Tethering not working anymore due to Sense not there
Hi all
Has anyone solved this?
I have the same problem.
I have just flashed the CM7.2 !
Thanks

[Q] Reliable Tethering App?

I just rooted my EVO yesterday & I just can't get a tethering app to work. ONCE I had my laptop connect, but had no internet access. I've tried WiFi Tether several times with different settings & I can't get a connection. I'm just looking for a simple & reliable tethering app to use on trips & such. As far as I know I have the latest updates with no additional roms installed. Basically a rooted stock phone.

This can be a very tricky question that has perplexed many people including myself for quite some time! What I have found is wifi tether for root users is the best and most reliable but there are some conditions to this. What I have found is if you are a sprint customer you have to be sure to get the right version of wifi tether. It all depends on how much flexibility you want but if you want something reliable consider one of the early 2.0 releases instead of going for the latest and experimental one. The easiest way to determine this is to make sure that the little wifi icon is green and not yellow.
if you do decide to try to alter the sentence with the more advanced version, be sure to leave it on a generic mode with waln=0 instead of the specific evo 4G mode.
If you're using a rooted stock, a lot of the roms come with a built into hacked sprint wifi tether, so you should be all good to go.

[Q] Remove stock wireless tether

Hello, I use my unlimited data as home wifi, and have been for a while, but I am always afraid that somehow the veri$on tether app (more like fee) will somehow trigger, right now I am using the TikTak rom (for around 10 minutes) and it seems like it's not in this rom at all (the verizon tether deal) can anyone confirm if this is the case, or point me to another rom that doesn't have it?
I'm not real particular with my roms, as long as everything major works and I can still tether. my default is the stock rom just rooted, I like sense and all it's features (though I don't use them all) but am as I said impartial.

tiKtaK has working native wifi tethering and bypasses/does not trigger any Verizon specific restrictions.
Hopefully that answers your question...?

Really? I didn't see that on there, I had a .apk for FoxFi on my storage, and it didn't seem to work on tiktak, so I switched back to wifi tether (the app) I'll pry a little more into that and see how well the native tether works.
also, is there a way to turn off fastboot in tiktak? I had trouble booting into recovery.

[Q] Anyone having problems with rooted tether on T-Mobile?

Strange, not sure if anyone else is having this issue but I've never had a problem before. T-Mobile is somehow able to really track my tethering even though I'm using TrevE Mod tethering app with my rooted S4. I used to be able to tether a ton without any issues at all. I also didn't have to use VPN which slows down the connection some.
I'm running Evil1rom 4.3 Wicked_v10 with baseband version M919UVUFNB4.
Anyone else recently experiencing this issue? I think T-Mobile is really cracking down now since they really want people to pay for every thing they have.
I searched the threads and couldn't find anything similar to this and if it's in the wrong section please move it.
Noticed that too, I using GPE ROM 5.0.1 and was able to teher unlimited with no problems like a month ago now I cant. Thought it was the ROM updates I had but I flashed one of the previous one and no luck, I wish someone cone with a hack.
No problems here with Xposed moto tether.
Running stock/rooted NH7 , tmo unlimited plan no tether plan.
Using tethering during travel when wifey does her Netflix / Prime / YouTube video binging, mostly while on long drives or at the park (out of WiFi range ) on the tablet, averaging about 11/2 to 3 hrs at most.

Do you know if that works on lollipop?
Don't think so. From what I hear xposed isn't working with lollipop yet.

Yes. I can confirm this. Rooted, Knox free, original 4.4.2. w Tree mod and tether signed zip mod...
Was working fine without vpn.. for many Gigs..
now I keep getting notices I'm at my 5gb allowance via text. Maybe they are sniffing a new type of packet data..
thought it was just me...
Hope this gets fixed.
Cheers

(Q)Solution/fix for alleged T-MB unlimited tether crackdown?

Hello everyone, so as some/most of us know t-mobile has supposedly caught onto the whole unlimited tethering evade method we've all come to use, love and appreciate...none the least I do, very much. It's the reason why I started rooting and getting deeper into "getting the most out of our device" scene.
Anyways, I have been tethering with my grandfathered unlimited plan for a long time with no issues. Methods used from native app mod's built into roms, flash able zips that modify the necessary files no matter the rom, modifying apns/xmls, foxfi, svtp hot spot app and my favorite the WiFi Tether Router app.
Recently though, I've been getting messages about mobile hostpost data usage "x amount has been used" ??? At first I thought it was related to me upgrading to lollipop rom, bootloader baseband and all via Odin...so I downgraded to kit Kat (nk3) which is what I previously had. I did so and tethered like I normally do....bam! got a message x amount of data has been used? So I read around threw a bunch of Q&A threads, general, roms, note3, s6, note4 threads and it's becoming more of a concern to people. Glad/sad I'm not the only one.
Note:I'm currently full nk3, running effortless, lean kernel tethering with the WiFi Tether Router App.
~~>β˜†β˜†IS THERE A SOLUTION OR METHOD I DONT KNOW ABOUT THAT IS WORKING FOR YOU?
PLEASE!!!!!!! DO SHARE ID APPRECIATE IT.β˜†β˜†
Changing the browser user agent string to Safari works for me. Also running through a proxy with encryption on.
