QC3 and DnD question - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
So I have a question regarding QC3.0. Does this work on Pixel XL?
I've read so many conflicting arguments. If I have a QC3 car charger and portable battery pack will it work fast?
Also my DnD is not switching off since the last update for November.
It enables itself at night but wont switch off in the morning. I have removed all the DnD profiles and recreated them from scratch but the same thing happens. Any ideas?

The Pixel and Pixel XL do not support QC3.0. They do charge very quickly with the included chargers.

OK so they use USB-C PD? But would it still charge really quick on a QC3 charger?

I have a qc3.0 battery bank and it just says charging , idk how how fast its charging tho

No it does not. This phone charges really fast without it tho.

OK so get a USB-C PD battery pack. And the Do no Disturb question?

Wireless charging adapter blocked?

Maybe a noob question here, but I was hoping to get wireless charging on my 2XL with a Nilken USB-C adapter. Works great on my N6P, but on the Pixel 2XL I get no charge. It registers as charging, but the battery % never goes up, even after an hour+. Is there an obvious reason why? I can't find any info anywhere.
Suggestions on getting wireless charging working?
Can't wirelessly charge a phone with a metal backing
If you really need wireless charging, there are USB-C pads that you mount inside a case. Check Amazon

That is my point. I bought a Nilken USB-C wireless charging adapter for my Pixel 2 XL. It works on my Nexus 6P fine, but won't charge my 2XL. Seems weird to me.
This is what I'm using:

My Pixel 2 XL will only charge with my old Pixel XL or the new one that was shipped with the phone. Even my car charger won't charge up the new pixel. I get the charging icon in the display but it always stays at the same charge?
Maybe your in the same boat as I am in?
That it will only charge with the Pixel chargers (old or new)?
Anyone else having this issue??
That link is for the short version. I'd think being the XL you'd want the long version.
That would suck. I need to be able to charge the phone while using it for navigation for long-distance road trips.

That's the exact adapter I used for my Pixel XL and my wife's Pixel. We quit using them because quick charging is sooo much faster.

Wow, that sucks! Ive been using my Samsung charger without any issues, and I double checked my off brand car charger and it was working fine. Charging normal as far as I can tell. If you can't charge with normal chargers, might want to RMA...

I tried charging last night with a standard low amp iPhone charger and I didn't get any charge at all, even though the charge light was on. Seems the Pixel 2 XL wont charge with low amp chargers? I was able to charge on a high amp car charger. Try that maybe?
That's what I thought, thankfully I have 2 pixel chargers now, (1 from my old Pixel XL and the new one)
Another note:
Had to RMA my brand new Pixel 2 XL as phone calls could only be heard from the speaker not the earpiece itself. I thought we had fixed this issue previously when I called into Google Support and we wiped the phone thus fixing the no sound issue but I noticed this past Saturday that it came back!
New phone should be here Tuesday or Wednesday.
Don't think the Pixel 2 launch this year was as smooth as Google would have liked!
It charges me with the turbo charger from the N6 as well as 2 port charger I have in my truck. It just says charging, not slowly or rapidly... The 2 port quick charger was for the N6.
A wireless charging coil that works with this phone would be great. I am somewhat invested into qi technology with the cradle in the truck and the stand on the night stand.

Seems like because the qi adapters are not fast charging, and the Pixel 2 doesn't seem to charge at all with low power chargers, wireless charging might not be an option yet. Inwas hoping too! Awesome to just thrown the phone on the cradle at night and no wires to f with. Maybe another battery case manufacturer will make a battery case with wireless charging again.

I have the same wireless add-on and it used to work brilliantly on my OG Pixel, but you are correct - I can't get it to work with my 2 XL. Like yours, it says "charging" but the percentage doesn't move overnight. Interestingly, I don't think it reduces in power either (I haven't been paying close attention, but I'm pretty sure I've woken up to the same % each morning that I fell asleep to). I will try again tonight.
The short vs long version of the hardware are identical except that one is longer for when it's in a case you can center it on a flat qi base, so that won't make a difference.
Very strange. I do have a fast charging wireless charger on order that I will try when it arrives, but I'm not confident it will solve the problem.
I got this one tonight and it seems to work just fine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074SHBXC5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Interesting! I'm gonna try it just in case. Maybe the charging pad makes a difference. Which one are you using?

my charger looks similar. What powder brick are you using? I have a 3 different 2a wireless charging pads, and have been using the Samsung quick charger and still can't get any juice to my Pixel 2XL. I wonder if a USBC to MicroUSB will make a difference? But I don't see why...
So curious why this doesn't work!

Wireless Charging for the Pixel 2 XL, Question

I have tried three different wireless charge receivers with my Pixel 2 XL. I get the same issue with each of them.. when trying to charge, the battery indicator drops, not raises. My charger indicates that it is charging, the phone shows charging, but it is draining the battery.
Any thoughts? Has anyone successfully added this functionality to the Pixel 2 XL?

The Pixel doesn't support wireless charging natively. You'd need a new case like a Mophie to do it.
That is why I bought a wireless receiver. Same one I used on my V20. Which worked fine. It provides a charge current to the USB C plug.

charging cables worked on s8, but not pixel xl 2?

All my cables home and car that fast charged my s8, won't fast charge my pixel XL 2. I don't get it and was wondering why. Only thing that works is obviously the oem charger and my Chromebook plus charger. Any ideas? Sucks to buy new stuff over again but want to make sure I get the right stuff if I buy new chargers.
Pixel uses Power delivery fast charging which sucks.
S8 uses Qualcomm quick charge. Your charger probably has QC but not PD

So... how it is with the charging, exactly? -- USB-C and wireless charging question

I am wondering about charging options for G7 and ask about two particular which I am most interested about.
1. Immediately when I got it I thought "cool, let's charge it a bit, let it sip a bit of a power from USB-C from the desktop", however there came the surprise No.1 - G7 is not fast charging, my 6P is (6P charges in 1 hour and something), G7 reported over 3 hours to charge.
How to fast charge the G7 from USB-C? I have a capable HW for that and Nexus 6P works that way.
2. I saw some mentions here that G7 supports 10W if not even 15W wireless charging, is that info verified? I am planning on buying a wireless charger (one at home, one at work), but I would like to know if there is pretty much any reason to buy 10 or even 15W chargers.

1. The desktop usually doesn't support fast charging. You need a phone charger that supports fast charging. The one included in the box will charge the phone for 1 and a half hours. You can of course buy a new one.
2. Any wireless charger will work but it won't charge fast. I tried Samsung's fast wireless charger but it charged the phone slowly. I would say, just use a cable if you're on a hurry and maybe a wireless charger when you're not using your phone.
But the thing is, Nexus 6P can, it is even stating it is fast charging via the very same USB-C port and cable, so naturally I am wondering why G7 is not.
Right now, G7 is being charged from USB-C just as long (considering what the estimation at the bottom of the screens is) I reckon would be charged via 5W wireless charger. I have dismissed the idea of more powerful charger, I don't need it, for that I don't mind it would be charging even over 3 hours.
And here's an example of how even though its a USB C port on the phone, not all features are implemented equally. Its either looking for some sort of resistance on the line in the cable or something else similar to that, as my Anker cables won't fast charge the G7 but will fast charge my Moto Z Play on my computer (which has the right port specs to support fast charge). If you look at the supplied cable with the G7, you'll notice that only one side of the C connector has contacts, and even then its a small amount of contacts that don't cover the whole side. more than likely the USB C cable you are using is fully built out so the phone is probably deciding that it won't quick charge when a fully spec'd C cable is used.
that's just my speculation
Nexus 6P doesn't support Qualcomm QC at all. LG G7 does.
Nexus 6P uses Quick Charge based on USB-C technology.
Different phones, different technology, different story.

Because Samsung wireless chargers use their own proprietary standard but not industry Qi which G7 is supported. G7 needs Qi capable fast wireless charging pad to enable 15W mode

Seems like Nexus 6P is capable of USB-C Power Delivery standard and G7 somehow is not. That's sad since I was hoping to buy one Anker or Aukey USB-C PD capable brick to charge G7 as fast as in can.

As for fast wireless chargers somebody should open a thread in https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/accessories about choosing fast wireless chargers. Like this one which is stated as supporting LG V30 with Qi EPP

can i use samsung fast charger for google pixel 2xl

hey guy, I bought a pixel 2XL last 2 weeks and I didnot have fast charge adapter of google so i used adaptive fast charging of samsung. Is it OK? because when i took that phone, i checked it have 3200mAh and after two weeks, now it have 3150 mAh on battery. I want to know that pixel 2xl fast charging is possible with Samsung fast charger
If I recall correctly is not compatible, you may not charge at low speeds but I highly doubt it's using fast charge. The Pixel 2 XL uses USB C Power Delivery 2.0 for fast charging, most Samsung phones use propietary Qualcomm's Quick Charge technologies which are not compatible between them.
I've used a generic fast charge charging block with my 2XL and I get the "fastcharging" notification, so I'd presume it would work.
Don't ever use any other adapter that didn't support for Power Delivery. It will broke the charging port or some IC power, anything like that. Just saying. Better take 3rd party like anker or aukey that support PD.
