Sony Xperia z1 compact Primary microphone problem - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My primary mic is totally broken, but my secondary mic works perfect. Can i edit mixer_paths.xml somehow so i can use my secondary mic as primary for calls example?

I've the same problem for more than a year now and the only advice I can give, is to use the hands free mode every time you want to call somebody or get a call. Just turn it on, switch off the screen, rotate the phone at 180" and level the volume to your liking. This way you can use the secondary mic without any technical hacks. For me this works much better than to look in a hurry where I left my headset every time I receive a call. I hope I was at least of some help to you...

mine broke exactly today. what a piece os **** this z1c. done with it.

There are two things worth trying. The first is turning on/off the automatic gain control (settings->system->agc) and see what is better. The second is checking whether the microphone on the headset provides better quality than the one on the handset.
The device's noise cancelation does not work in the situation you described.

Buy Resco Audio Recorder...it has GAIN and it has NOISE REMOVAL.
Noise removal removes alot of noise to make lecture easier to listen to.
Gain makes the voice comprehend-able.
As long as you make the correct settings for the program.
Your lectures and discussion and laboratories will always turn out perfect.
Too bad the dual mics can't be used for that. Was hoping to use it in the exact same way when I got it... Oh well, I might just call my home and record the call in order to make them kick in
Or ask my friend to let me call his cell, put him on speaker, and ask him to put the mute on so it'll only record my end of the speaker phone call
Thats a good idea
Yeah, except that it will drain the battery like mad. Good thing it's rated for a very long talk time.
Also remember it will incurr call charges. My plan is great and I don't have to worry about that. But some people do.

Rhodium loudspeaker

I have been wondering for a few days now whether the "Straight Talk" loudspeaker and mic activated by flipping the Rhodium is not the same as the loudspeaker activated by tapping "loudspeaker" when making a call and perhaps someone can enlighted me?
The reason I'm asking is because I have read such raving reviews of the Straight Talk function, with its crystal clear noice cancelled sound and everything, yet when I'm in the car making a call and tap "loudspeaker" I have to talk really loud for the people on the other end to hear me. Also they sometime complain about the sound recieved from me being metallic or having a background hum to it.
So, is the two functions different? And if they are, is there another way to activate Straight Talk than flipping the phone?
Or is my Rhodium faulty?
Any input is very much appreciated!
Noone can help here?
Yes those functions are different. When you use straight talk it uses the microphone on the back of the rhodium. I don't know if there is another way to activate this function and I don't know why you would do that
Witch rom are you using? In my experience the custom roms have a better sound quality then stock roms. I don't know if it's true but it's just a feeling
I guess I'm just too used to tapping the loudspeaker button just after dialing... or when recieving calls. Sometimes it doesn't work putting it face down whilst driving, on the passenger seat, and I can't put it face down while it is in a cradle either...
I'm using the latest stock ROM, european version.

Help Plz! Face down Loudspeaker ain't working

Hi,
I set the option of facedown LOUDSPEAKER ON function and tried reset several times, but this is not working. even after installing tweak software which allows FACE DOWN MUTE, it is not working.....can someone provide me a solution to it!!!!!
I Would be obliged.
REGARDS.
Did you calibrate the gsensor? It won't work for me either unless I calibrate is. And it would also help if you tell use which rom you use.
htcpedia settings tool
try this app. The settings are under phone, page 2. works for me.
did u download some tweak program? i had that happened when i messed around with HD tweaks. it knocked out my speaker and i couldnt hear anything when someone called or i dialed out. it drove me crazy till i figured out what it was. it was when i was messing with the audio, trying to make it louder thru the tweak program. hopefully u get it working soon. i do love that feature, juss put the phone face down and speaker automatically cuts on. with really great sound quality. i believe the tilt 2 has 2 mics and 2 speakers. really great for conference calling. keep us updated
I use official WinMo6.5.... the problem is....when i hold it straight bottomdown,it works and just a slight movement in the angle switches it off....
ohhhh..ok...hmmm...maybe u need to calibrate the g sensor again. it sounds like its not calibrated right. or instead of putting it face down to activate speaker, during your call, juss press the speaker button and it should go into speaker phone. i dont think the g sensor messes with it in that mode. that face down thing is linked to the sensor and thats why its being thrown off.
If i put the TP2 face down on a flat surface in active call, it turns on the loudspeaker...but as soon as i lift it up and a slight change in angle switches off the loudspeaker.....is this USUAL with every TP2 or is there problem with mine?
I think that's normal. You're supposed to leave it flat on the table; picking it up again switches off the speakerphone, that's how the feature works.

[Q] Help Please! Microphone Dead/Very Quiet..?

Right, here’s the situation, I replaced the screen on my HTC Desire HD a few days ago and literally the first boot since there was a Wifi notification of a ROM update also, so I did it... (Orange UK Software number 3.13.61.5) anyway, since replacing the screen / updating the ROM, the Microphone has gone ridiculously quiet when making or receiving a phone call and if I open the Voice recorder, I can barely hear my recorded voice back, and the only way people can hear me when I call them is if they put it on loudspeaker and still put the phone to their ear...
Ok so initially I thought that this might be a hardware issue as I have been in the phone, however, given the fact that I can hear some playback via voice recorder, this means that the Microphone is working..?
So after a bit more investigation, I found that if I remove the bottom panel that covers the SD Card and Sim Card slots, then Voice recorder works perfectly (but my signal drops off completely so I can't test a phone call... *Are the 2 little gold contacts to do with the antenna?*) So I have come to the conclusion that it must be software? As obviously when these 2 little gold contacts make connection with the phone again, ye it enables me to make a phone call, but wrecks the microphone...
On a side note, I have checked the little Microphone hole on that bottom panel and shoved a pin through it and it’s as clean as a whistle so it can't be a blockage of any sort...
So something is happening when the bottom panel is on the phone, those 2 gold contacts tell the phone to do something? Provide an antenna for it but in doing so almost muting the microphone at the same time..?
Any ideas on how I can fix this or where shall I start? Could this still be a hardware issue? Shall I strip the phone down again and pay special attention to a specific part? :S
Please Help!?
Thanks in advance!
Adam.
which rom are you using? if that's a stock rom, it is highly recommended that you try one of the custom ones from development section (sense 3.5 roms)
Yes, its a stock ROM that was pushed OTA... It's a friends phone, I have a HD2 so I'm very familiar with flashing roms etc... but I'm going through the custom roms section and I can't seem to be able to find a good guide as a starting point..? I see a lot about Downgrading? and S-Off..? (Does that mean Signature Off?)
Thanks very much for the reply though!
Ok... I've flashed a custom ROM now, and a different radio '[ROM] Android Revolution HD 7.0.3 | High Quality & Performance | O/C | Legendary' is the rom I used...
Exactly the same... It's as if the microphone level is right down when the phone has signal/network as if I shout the voice recorder picks stuff up then...
Is there an App I can use to tweak the gain or something on the Mic levels?
I've had the phone in bits again and cleaned out everywhere, theres no dust build up or anything of the sort so I'm sure its not hardware related... but then if the ROM is completely different then it can't be software either can it..? :S
Cheers, Adam.

I'm no expert on electricity and all that but can it be possible that the power input onto the mic is being too low so that it is not functioning properly due to a newer screen sucking up a higher power? but then you mentioned that by removing those plates, it works fine...
I couldn't come across a fix as it seems that not many people had this problem so it seems that it is more of a hardware problem but i'll post asap i find something
EDIT: maybe this
Thanks for the reply! I can't understand what it could be... I have figured out though that if I hold the phone horizontally in front of my mouth and talk then it works... so I'm completely stumped as to what it could be...
Is there no way I can edit some sensitivity figure somewhere? :S
Cheers, Adam.

Hi All
I have had the same issue with no mic imput when calling someone on a HTC Desire 500 phone.
My problem started when I paired a plantronics bluetooth hands free device to my phone and started to use it.
While using the PK100 device all was perfect and no issues, but when I turned off the hands free device I now have the same issue no one can her me through the phone mic, no sound at all. I believe this issue is both software and hardware the software needs to switch the hardware (mic) on and off
It is as if the mic has been switched off by the (PK100) bluetooth hands free but the software on the phone is not re-enabling the phone mic so now I am in a situation where i can only use my phone via a diferent mic headphones or PK100 hands free.
I can also add that while in a call I have the option to switch from the hands free on the phone, or to use the phone or to use the PK100 from an in call option all works ok but the mic on the phone will not reactivate. this seems to be an issue with the software not activating the mic.
If anyone has any idea I would like to here...

Microfone issue

Hello,
have a problem with my HTC 10 when I make standard call there is no any problems, but when I switch call to loudspeaker people tell that they can't hear me, phone usually lie on the desk during this calls.
Is this hardware issue, or software? I use Viper ROM. This phone have two microphones right, which one is used with loud speaker call?
Hello, the same speaker like without Loudspeakermode. Try another ROM at first Stockrom, shouldn't help this i recommend to contact your seller.
speaker no matter if phone is at the ear or call is in "speaker" mode works without any problem,
my problem is with microphone but only on "speaker" mode because then other side can't hear me.
to resolve it, I've bored out the microphone hole on the bottom of the case enough to make sure the mic is fully exposed and that appears to have done the trick.
