Is the general consensus that you should not get the latest OTA update for the Nexus 7? I bought one from the play store now that we can in canada, just waiting on it to arrive (maybe Monday-Wed next week). Either way, what are the problems that seem to be coming up after the OTA? Is it the touchscreen/multi touch issue? Something else? It's not for me, it's for the wife for her bday but I can at least tell her not to update it

I installed all the available updates, no issues at all, plus Google is aware of the current issues and will pop an update sometime soon to fix it
I have the multitouch issue with JWR66N and JSS15J.
If nobody has, has anyone heard a timeframe?
Not yet, since Monday and today is Thursday, four days ago 8.0 came out. My Pixel XL came out last year with Nougat so this is the first big Platform Upgrade. I'm trying to remember if my former Nexus 5 took so many days to get a Platform Upgrade.

My understanding from a few articles is that Google is rolling it out and anybody not in the beta program will get it "soon." I have a play store version using a Verizon SIM and I have it check under system update periodically and haven't had it pushed to my phone yet.

They haven't even posted the actual OTA files yet. Most likely cause they(the public OTA release) are not finalized until after the release to beta users to catch any final issues....as they pulled the one they pushed it at first...then resent(signature issues). Quite a few users reporting O issues....so I would say it will be at best a week or 2 before Google works out the bugs and does public OTA.
Not from non-beta OTA, later I joined the beta, and it came.
Nope I check daily and nothing

Same here man. I'm not expecting it until I see some images posted. And that might be 8.0.1 at this point. Multiple problems out there. No rush whatsoever for me.

No OTAs here either, I flashed up from the 7.1.2 August build to the new OPR6 build.
Nothing here either. And like others said, there appear to be some issues with the current release, so I'm in no hurry to upgrade to 8.0. Let them iron out those initial bugs first before they push it to the general public.

I am on the Pixel XL and Nexus 6P with DP4 on both. I received one single ~59MB and ~36MB OTA file on each.
I thought that was really small since all the DP OTAs were ~1GB and so expected a similar size for the stable OTA. Can you share your OTA experience? What was the size and did you receive two files (small+big) as some others are reporting online?

mine was about 60 some mb, I got the OTA before it was pulled the first time and everything went smoothly for me. after reading other's experiences I'm wondering why mine worked.

I was on 7.1.2 and when I was checking system update, it only showed "system is up to date". And then I joined the Android Beta Program and I received a notification that Android O was ready to download, size about 950MB.
Then it proceeds like any other OTA. I didn't get any second package yet.

In your case - you joined the Beta program after Oreo was released - so it makes sense that the OTA to final would be 900MB. Thanks for your response!

OK so I guess the DP4 to final Android Oreo OTA is ~60MB. Thanks man! I will let other people in parallel forums know about it.
Pixel XL from Google Store/on VZ network (off contract). I was not on the DP but sources advised to sign up, get the OTA, and then unenroll. I did that yesterday and am now on OPR6.170523.012 which is stable and I understand the final. Working fine.

On the T-Mobile SIM Pixel XL, from DP4 my current build number is: OPR6.170623.011
Google needs to get its sh*t together and start to clearly communicate what's going on and where we stand.

Got the facts from the Pixel forum here.
If you're on the DP4 Android O, it is considered the final Release Candidate so only the smaller OTA is delivered to bring you in line with the stable release of Android Oreo.

I see that that is a way to basically force the OTA to 8.0, but I'm still uncomfortable doing that without any system or OTA images available on the google site. There must be a reason no images have been posted for any carrier. So I'll sit it out for now and I do believe you will get an updated OTA once the images are released. Even though Oreo is "official" I still thinks it's just a later beta with all the issues they're having.

Correct, I have encountered some issues after beta-OTA process, like "Automatic Time Zone" always wrong and hidden wifi not connecting...
I plan to do a factory image flash, if issues persistent, I'll downgrade to 7.1.2 and wait for the real OTA...

This is where I am - now. I never normally do the beta stuff, but this time after Monday's announcement, I got excited and believed all the stories about how you could join the beta, just to get the OTA to the "final" release of 8.0 (I was stock, un-rooted, 7.1.2 on T-Mo). I did it, and it worked just as expected. I was first thrown by the naming convention for the build (OPR......., instead of just "OZKL4T" or something--I realize now that might be how they are named from now on). I have also since seen that there is still carrier testing to be conducted, plus other issues. Also, if it's "final", why aren't the images and OTA files here yet - https://developers.google.com/android/images ?? Being cautious, I decided to reflash the latest 7.1.2 image, and wait patiently for the "real" OTA. Not interested in beta testing (any more than we already do by being Nexus/Pixel stock owners). Happy for everyone that is running this latest build, but I'm only interested in the rock-solid, absolutely final images. Those are not here yet, in the form in which they have always come previously (and will almost certainly come again shortly).
Uh....I'm still on November 7.1.1, was about to upgrade August release but waited for the official O release from Google.lol

Oreo Update for non beta users
http://www.droid-life.com/2017/08/29/verizon-pixel-android-oreo-update/
I've had this phone for around 3 months or so and haven't received a single update. I'm wondering if you any of you guys got any update at all?
I'm at Android Security Patch level: April 1, 2019
Kernel 4.14.83
Build PKQ1.181203.001
Software version: G820QM10a
I tried LG Bridge and the phone is recognized but when I try to check for update it says that it can't read my phones software version. It's really not a pressing issue but I'm just wondering what you guys have experienced
I have US unlocked for two months and I still haven't received any update. I have April's patch too.
Same here. If anyone ever DOES receive an update on their 820QM, please post to this thread.

I am now on software version G820M11j with the Oct 1st security patch!
Yep, got same update!

Ok, now that's some good news. I have to say that I really love this phone and I don't have too many complaints besides slow updates and kind of wish the camera was a little better
Android 10 Hereeeee
Android 10 is here, for the Amazon version on February 24, 2020, the update has arrived, until now I have noticed a better fluidity and the camera has improved considerably! Everyone update!
The strangest thing happened today:
I was notified of a ***second Android 10 OTA update*** and I'm really thrown off right now. I already updated to Android 10 on September 3rd.
What's going on??? Lol.
*Edit: the download size is 1.3GB
This one says QP1A.190711.020.C3. The other one didn't say C3.

2.5MB?? Mine was 1.3GB. It looks like it's a new build. I just googled it.
I think the most recent package pushed was to address (potential) sensor issues.
I'm on AT&T and was already on Sept 5th update but got update today that's around 2.5mb.
Uk sim free, full update 1.3GB
Many of us have some personal and confidential info stored on our phones. Timely security updates are critical.
That said, has anyone gotten a security update for this phone? I haven't gotten one since I purchased it on the day it was released. I'm still on the August 1st 2020 security patch. I thought Motorola issue security patches every 2 months. I reached out to them on this but the person that I communicated with had no idea on when a security patch would be available for this phone.
I love the form factor of this phone but I think outdated security patches pose a huge risk.

Did you get a security update or did it come with the September security patch when you bought the phone?
Motorola also told me that the August security patch was the most up-to-date. Go figure.
To be honest, I'm not sure if there was an update when I started using the phone, or if it came that way. The phone is less than two weeks old.
No problem. Thanks for the update. I got my phone on October 2nd with the August security patch on it. No updates from Motorola since.

Did you receive any update, yet? Mine came with the August patch, and an update was available as soon as I got the basic settings dialed in. I'm on the September patch now, which is still pretty dated in comparison to my OP8Pro. No further updates, or news, as of now.
Nothing yet. Still waiting. I check almost daily.
you should have the october security update. The Retail US channel got that late in mid november (me on the 17th). I purchased directly from motorola and use t-mobile sim.
motorola does quarterly security updates it seems and when you get the update it'll be a month old.
Nothing yet. I wonder if T-Mobile is the holdup. I bought the phone from T-Mobile on release date. Perhaps Motorola released the update to T-Mobile but T-Mobile has not sent the update to my phone yet?
Motorola also said this phone will get the Android 11 update. If it's dependent upon T-mobile and if T-Mobile is the reason for the security patch delays, I'm not hopeful.
when you go to 'about phone' in settings, under 'software channel' does it say 'retail us' or something else?
If so, You could try this method:
turn the phone off, remove the sim. Connect to wifi and check for the update then.
In 'about phone' in settings, under 'software channel' it says "T-Mobile".
yea...you have to yell at t-mobile then. they're in control of your updates.
edit:
you could try and use the motorola firmware flashing tool to flash https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/smith/official/TMO/
if yours is a lower version than that (you can verify in the about phone page under firmware version)
But firmware flashing that way vs ota usually means wiping the phone when it's being done.
Finally, I got an update today...
it looks like t-mobile just pushed that firmware out (if you go by the time stamp on the link i posted). So the phone is not delayed in seeing updates, t-mobile is just super slow at pushing them out.
though, they could have a different offset for their quarterly security updates than motorolla, as they're not much slower than motorolla (2 months vs 1.5 months). Considering you got November 1st's patch at the end of december and I got october 1st's patch in mid november.
I expect the next update we see for this device will be sometime in late february. Probably not going to see the OS update until mid next year.
Yep. I finally got it yesterday.
Wow. I went from zero updates in almost 3 months to two updates in just over 3 weeks. I was on the August security patch all the way until December 28th when I finally got the October security patch. Now, just a little over 3 weeks later, I got the December security patch today...
I feel a lot better about the phone now.
