Hi @ all
Does anyone knows, if the original Samsung LAN/USB Hub ET-UP900 will work with this tablet? Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to post a link.
I'd like to fit the tablet into my car, use the two usb-ports for sound-out and external hard-disk, use the micro-usb for charging the tablet while using the usb-ports at the same time. LAN port not needed.
Does this work?
Greetings from Switzerland
Patrick
I've been wondering that my self??
Anyone?
I have just checked on the Samsung German site and when you select our model of tablet it comes up and says not compatible. Although I personally would take that with a pinch of salt. Shame it was not a little cheaper then I would just buy it and try it lol.

Also looking at the specs closer it is for use on the Note Pro so there is absolutely no reason why it would not work.
Assuming that too, but too risky to buy the tablet and the hub if something won't work after all...
So I'm hoping that anyone is able to check it out.

So, guys, after a few tries with other devices like Multimedia Dock......cause i can't believe, that its not possible to use usb and charge at the same time, and ALL other devices definitely Don't work, I buy this at conrad electronic in munich, cause there I know, I can bring it back, and get money back, if it doesn't fit......and, I wonder very very much.....it works.....but I only tested usb and charge....and device check it as a usb connector....thats important.....I dont know why, but multimedia dock won't work, it doesn't be shown as a dock, no charging. ....but it works with note 3.....strange.....but now im looking for a way to connect it to LAN. If I connect it, nothing happens, no internet connection.....how it will work on pro? An app needed? Cause in settings are no options to configure a Lan Connection......I think, you will need ipv4 settings for.....or it is done very simple and there is a simple script in the firmware of pro devices? Anyone knows? Im searching the internet, but found nothing about......
Ah....and the reason for searching this device is: if you want to use a bluetooth keyboard, you'll have problema with bluetooth connection all the time....I figure out, pairing it new every time is better.....but at this device, wlan an bluetooth must be going over the same modem or hardware, cause if you use both, wlan and bluetooth for keyboard, you got massive trouble with internet connection and sometimes you cant connect to your access point.....really ****.....I try an usb keyboard , wireless from Microsoft with pad....and this works perfect. ...but then, you can't charge anymore.....with any hubs or something, no chance, and all older devices wont work.....damned.....does anyone have a solution for the bluetooth trouble? I try the bluetooth fix apps also, they help a but for bluetooth problems but not for the wlan disaster....whats the reason for ? The radio?......wil be happy for any answers.....
you running kit kat or?
After seen the spec and it probably wont work. ET-UP900 need USB 3.0 port and Note 2014 only have USB 2.0 port. Maybe some kind of USB 3 to USB 2 adapter might work.
The USB 3.0 Port is just for charging, for example with a wall plug...
sent from htc one...
I'm thinking it's more of an issue with drivers or kernel ....
That's why I'd love to hear from someone with KK installed
Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) should work!

Just got my brand new official Samsung USB lan/Hub. And..... it doesn't work. The usb part of it seems to wok ok, but it doesn't detect ethernet. The user manual wants me to go into the settings --> more networks-- Ethernet connections... BUT I have no such setting
planing on playing around for a little while longer, but sorry to say lads, it doesn't seem to work.
suggestions?
Seems that I atleast have hit a wall with regards to getting this to work. Anyone have any bright ideas? or dark ideas for that mater??
Anyone actually managed to get this to work?
Ok, guys.....i think, you mean the adapter for Note pro? I got it, and it works. .... first, i bought this, cause it was the only USB adapter, that charge and using usb at the same time with p600........... and then i try to get Ethernet work. ...... the thing is, you have to know some things about ip4 connections, this is a kind different to wifi connections. ...... but i can offer you good news, the adapter works. The thing is, the firmware of p600/605 isn't modified to say the apps, they can connect to Internet with ethernet. ..
With the Adapter, the connection works, if you look to your router, you will find your device in Lan network. ......
What you need, are two things. ..... first, the app "ethernet" from play store (need root), that gives your device the right ip address, subnet mask and the gateway. .... (you don't have to do anything, just start the app, and press "enable")...... and the second one ist xposed framework and the module "hack connectivity", this little tool will say all apps to listen also to Ethernet Routing, not only wifi....... for me, this ,works like a charm, if i come to office, i plug the adapter in, with a wireless keyboard usb plug, Lan connected and also a cable to charge my note 3........ than i just enable the ethernet app, and change keyboard to my own for external keys (external keyboard helper), and that's all, so i have Lan Internet (4 times faster than wifi), have connection to my pc, and a external keyboard and mouse. ..... that's perfect. ....
If I'm finished, i plug the adapter off, and disable ethernet app, it changes automatically to wifi. ........
For generally information : Android already have ethernet drivers enabled from source, also in Samsung firmware, eth0 is working, the thing is, the apps are just programmed to listen to Wifi only. ....... don't know why, cause it's just one simple parser line to get this working.....
OK, on a mobile, it's not so interesting to havea Lan connection, but on a tablet, this will really good and fast. ....
Try this and habe fun. ... but i don't understand, why Samsung have the pins of the 10.1 204 so stupid organized, that all docking stations and usb adapters don't work with charging and usb at same time. .... the note 3 Multimedia Dock will not be detected as a dock. ....... that's so stupid. ....... shame on Samsung. ... if this was my company, i will fire the engineers at the same day if they make such a ****..........

I got this ET-UP900 adapter working with a SM-C115 by compiling a custom kernel. If you add the right drivers you can probably run use it with most devices.
During the build process of the kernel you run "make menuconfig". Here you select "Device Drivers" > "Network Device Support" > "USB Network Adapters". Include the "Multi-purpose USB Networking Framework" and "SMSC LAN95XX base USB 2.0 10/100 ethernet devices". If you add those as module you got to load them with "insmod mii.ko; insmod usbnet.ko; insmod smsc95xx.ko" in this order.
My current problem with this is that the device is not carging through the adapater. I guess there is another driver or option missing but I am still looking into this.

Hello,
The modem that worked 100% of the time in KGL MTCB units, the Huawei E173u-2 doesn't work anymore.
The manufacturer sent us a list of modems that are - to say the least - very exotic in Europe.
Does anybody have a list of compatible modems? What modems do you guys use?
Do MTCD units support 4G/LTE modems or still only 3G?
Make use of an old phone, making wifi hotspot! - works best for me.
No need to buy slow sticks. Blackberry Q5 is very cheap - and LTE 4g wkan-hotspot is in.
Try the "chinese" umts stick for umts/wcdma that are sold within the headunits. these mostly are 7.2mb/s download. not statisfying, is it?
Yep, the UMTS stick is crap. I bought a Huawei E8372 LTE-WiFi-Stick. This one runs much better.
I tried a Huawei 3131H USB stick and it works fine (3G). The connection appears as a mobile 3g regular icon on the head unit. Sometimes the stick connects, but there's no visual feedback on the unit (still works).
Then I switched to a Huawei R216 (modem/wireless router with battery) with 4G, also works fine. The connection appears as "shared via cable" - 2 small overlapping computer icons. It also works seamlessly. You cannot connect the head unit to the modem wifi while connected via USB (makes sense and I don't know if there's any setting to switch from shared cable connection to wifi)
Hotspot with internet connection (from various phones) - works without a hitch and you can do it with an older phone connected to the USB for power, I tried with an old Samsung S3 Mini and it worked.
The Vodafone tech guys said that their stick modems may not be compatible with my setup, because they had people returning them after tying to connect them to tablets via cable. I suspect that's the case for the headunit too, so I didn't risk it - Vodafone Mobile K4607-Z (from ZTE) and Vodafone Connect USB Speed 6 4G (Huawei I think) are the ones in question.
Hope this helps.

Surely this has nothing to do with MCU version and is dependent on the ROM?
Zubie
I bought a Zubie. It plugs in to the OBD2 port and provides wifi to the car through my Verizon account.
In order to still use a bluetooth OBD2 adapter simultaneously, I bought an OBD2 splitter cable off amazon.
I love this setup.
DOES NOT WORK:Telstra Pre-Paid MF823 4G USB (ZTE MF823) (Unlocked via ebay code)
Only works if when initially plugged in, does not work when resumed from standby or swapped from wifi: HUAWEI E122
Also, There is a big difference for applications activity between a "Cellular" data connection and a WIFI connection (Tethered/hotspot). EG. Spotify set to only download on WIFI connection cannot differentiate between your home WIFI connection and a hotspot or Play Store set to update on WIFI only. This can become costly if you're on a small data plan.
Huawei e3372 (4G/LTE) works perfect when updated the MCU (MTCD_KDV1.82_1 Aug 26).
Initially I've tried with MTCD_KDV1.52_1 May 4, but didn't work.
but nevertheless, there's not 3G or LTE icon signal, there's a Network icon (two computers like MsWindows icon) like if it was an ethernet connection.
I've tested and it works at LTE speed. Cool! :good::good:
Only there's only one problem: This network connection is preferent over WiFi, so, to connect to a Wifi Nework i've to unplug the USB dongle. It's impossible to connect to a WiFi when the dongle is connected.
Joying posted a new 4G dongle, but looks like it works more as a wifi hotspot:

I've actually got the R216 and I can't make it connect via USB at all - just using the wifi connection.
Could I ask what MCU you are running and roughly where you see it in the network settings?
Thanks!

hey, I have the R216 from Vodafone Romania and I just plugged it in in one of the 3 USB ports with a microSD cable (works on any of them, with no special settings) and threw it in the glove box. My unit is a HotAudio MTCD 5.1. As for the MCU, it worked with both the default one from May, and with the updated one from this forum (June, I think). Can't exactly recall the versions, 1.53 and 1.63 I think. The modem works with both cable sharing and hotspot simultaneously. The unit takes the cable connection as a priority from the modem (you can not plug it in the USB, but choose the Wifi from the same device). I also found out that in some ROMs, the cable net speed is vastly superior to the wifi one

Awesome - thanks heaps!
I have Vodafone Australia version, so probably similar. I think I have one of those MCUs and I'm using the June version of @Malaysk's great software.
Will have to check things out further - my unit has this thing where only one of the usb ports is assigned to be used with the modem, and I can't remember which one I plugged my usb webcam into.
Thanks again for responding.

In my unit's printed schematics & cables, the single shorter one is designated for modems (and has a separate port in the back of the unit). I just plugged the modem in the other 2 for curiosity. For HotAudio MTCD i think there are only 2 MCUs anyway, I couldn't find more. ROMs don't seem to matter, I went through 2 factory versions, 2 Malaysk versions and now I use a Xtrons one,no issues. If you can't get it to work, it may be the modem's firmware to blame.
Silly question, what do you guys use for the SIM card? Surely you don't pop it out of your phone and install it in the modem every time you go for a drive?

Separate sim. Here in Australia I am using a sim from Aldi Mobile on the "Pay as you go" plan.
Still waiting to find a working 3G/4G sim modem for the MTCD
Ok this is driving me nuts so I gotta ask...I have a S20 Plus 5G (Verizon) and have a brand new custom-built computer with a ridiculous amount of USB 3.0, 3.1 ports. I have to tether my phone to my PC for internet so I use the USB-C to USB-C cable that came with the phone to connect to the single USB-C port on the computer. I also use said connection for Samsung DEX (not simultaneously, would if I could lol).
With this specific setup, I don't have any issues at all, but I know for a fact that it's not a 3.0 connection because of the cable (the "Device can perform faster when connected to USB 3.0" message confirms as much). The cable is obviously the limiting factor holding it back from 3.0 so I tried replacing it in the setup with various (both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A) 3.0 cables and sure enough, I get the correct "connected through USB 3.0" message under my device's name in the devices menu.
However, no matter which 3.0 cable I try or which 3.0+ port I plug it into, I always run into the issue of the device randomly disconnecting/reconnecting every so often. I get the whole disconnected/reconnected sound deal and the "select what happens with this device" Autoplay message. I've tried turning off Autoplay, turning off the USB notification message option, going into device manager/registry and ensuring that every single thing related to the USB ports has the power conservation option turned of, etc.
One major thing is that when I created a USB 3.0 "certified" connection with my mom's slightly older custom-build computer, it seemingly had no problems holding the connection, so it appears as though it's something on my computer specifically that's causing it. I just frankly have no idea what that thing could be at this point. Any ideas?

I have not understood your intention.
Why do you have to connect the phone via USB cable to your computer?
If you have internet via mobile data on your phone and want to share it with the computer, you can tether via mobile hotspot of your phone. Just connect the computer via wifi to your phone's hotspot.
And your device should be able to use Dex wirelessly. I read about it in one of the latest Android 11 OneUI 3.1 changelog.
