Okay, I'm curious to see if it works, so far I've read that side loading the "X" OTA works and doesn't break root, and then i have read that it does, am going to hold off doing anything until i know what the outcome is and or have more time to work with it. Need my phone for work in the early AM.

Long press the notification and you will have an option to make go away.
Thats what I did until I could install the factory image. I dont believe in sideloading OTA's. Especially when rooted. Had that OTA modded the boot.img you would boot loop until you reload the proper boot image or modded kernel.

Good to know, so installing the factory image will wipe device correct? Or will it just upgrade? If it wipes it, will i be able to re-root using the boot-to-root method? If it doesn't wipe will it break root?

If this doesn't work I'm done I have no more patience for this especially doing exactly what I should be and getting nothing ...I have done this every possible way and without root I basically have a 750$ paper weight cuz I won't use this phone ....I've waited years to get a root on a Verizon device again and I get it for a week and it's gone smh
Well I hope it works. This is all kind of making me wish I didn't unlock/root.

HELP!
Tried using the method to unlock and root and when I used the boot img now I am in a bootloop, sits at Google and just keeps going. Can anyone point me to the factory LTE boot.img? PLEASE?
Thank you in advance.

I tried superboot and the manual method, no dice. Stuck on the Google logo for both
I had to wait at least five minutes before it finally rebooted again after fast booting the boot.img. I was sure that I wasn't booting but it turns out it was just taking a long time

Are you sure it's in a bootloop?
If your following this guide, step 4 rooting, give it some time. I thought mine was froze at that step as well, but I waited and it booted up. Probably took about 2 minutes or so (though it felt like 20).
Edit: Ha, swm beat me to the punch
Nevermind... apparently it worked and gave me SU without getting past the Google logo. Did a battery pull and superuser worked. Very strange.

people here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352413&page=12
are saying it takes about 5 minutes, not actually a boot loop...
I found the LTE img here , I actually loaded odin and wiped data and it solved my bootloop, wasnt stuck on the animation it was stuck at the actual Google, then it would vibrate and reset Google just keep doing it. Apparently that old img works fine with 4.0.1 but 4.0.2 sends you in the loop
There's also this tarball recently issued direct from google:
http://groups.google.com/group/andr...hread/9a944a4dbc8d23c5/f6002e27c9b41a5d?pli=1
It's not 4.0.2 though, that puts you back on 4.0.1.
Can someone list the steps that are needed to actually flash the stock image on a windows computer. I am stuck at the google logo and bootlooping as well.

ok, when you unzip it, go to the image-mysid-itl41d.zip folder, and move system.img and boot.img to the same directory as fastboot.
Now once you have fastboot up in a terminal and your device is in fastboot mode the commands are:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
Unless you're going the method from the noob thread, in which case thebfastboot commands should be (correct me if I'm wrong):
fastboot-windows.exe flash system system.img
fastboot-windows.exe flash boot boot.img
fastboot-windows.exe reboot
And that should have you booting back to stock.
I ran into this issue myself since I was on 4.0.2. Once I was back on 4.0.1 I used super boot straight from [email protected]'s thread and it worked fine. Upgraded back to 4.0.2 afterwards and still kept root.
Let me know if this helps.

I just edited the tar that contained it and removed the radio-cdma.
flashed it with odin then was able to use android and re-unlocked the bootloader with the toolkit, then flashed the tar with the radio-cdma just in case, and then relocked the bootloader.
Now i can send it in for warranty lol
So I was running Slimbean 6.2 weekly with ktoonez 6.8 kernel and decided to go into recovery (CWM Touch 6.0.3) to fix permissions and clear cache since I was having some battery drain issues. After I hit fix permissions it started to do so and then all of a sudden my phone rebooted and gets stuck at the splash screen. Went back into recovery to try and fix permissions again same thing happens. Tried clearing cache and doing a normal reboot still stuck at splash screen. I tried doing a factory reset but it keeps rebooting right when it gets to formatting data. So essentially I can do anything aside from format data so I am guessing there's some corrupt file there that's keeping me from formatting it. I've tried installing different ROM's that I have on my SD card but they always get stuck at the splash screen. Doing a restore doesn't work as once it gets to restoring data the phone reboots. I checked report error or something along those lines in CWM Advanced and it said can't format /emmc which I'm not sure what that means.
I've looked around but haven't been able to find any information on how to fix this. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Ok go into CWM wipe cache, wipe dalvik and do factory reset. Then flash any rom which you have on your phone storage. Does this work?

Even better, download one of the Odin 1-clicks. Connect your phone, open the 1-click and stand back while it does its magic.
EDIT: Here http://rwilco12.com/Files/Devices/S...ooted/SPH-L710_MD4_1130792_Rooted_Restore.exe

It has been rumored that Samsung will not warrant the device if it is bricked but if the power button breaks they would most likely repair it.

Hi
I dont know what really happen to your device but here some things that might help.
1. Get the latest twrp zipfile should be 2.6.3
2. Unpack in a New directory on your PC - in this directory should be 2 files - one ODIN and one TWRP
3. Use the ODIn in that new directory only this Odin version will work.
4 load the TWRP file into ODIN
5 The only Oding Setting which should be changed is the Auto Re-Boot Option switch it off.
6 Than start the Load Process be patient can Take up to 6 Min.
This works i did it myself if any further question feel free to ask - ih this has helped a thanks would be nice-

I know, when I switch to 5.1.1 it gets stuck in a boot loop. Do I have to factory reset in order to go to 5.1.1?[/QUOTE
No, you should be using odin to get to 5.1.1. Make sure ypu uncheck reboot after flash and power the phone all the way down (go ahaead pull battery) and the power uP. If you dont power cycle flash doesnt take.

I did use odin, but after I installed the 5.1.1 and tried to start my phone, it just kept staying in the boot loop. So I had to re-instlal 6.0.1 in order to get back on my phone.

hmmm could have been alot of things. Maybe just a corrupt flash or dm verity fail . Or it could be somthing as simple as failing to power down immediatly after flashing. Part of the unlock process causes loop but not on verizon screen it does it after galaxy note 4 screen. if you flashed the firmware with the 6.0.1 bootloader but the 5.1.1 firmware and you werenot unlocked might do that. Ummm yeah man its totally possible to get back to 5.1.1 still . If i was you id double check all the files you flashed making sure its not your bad. Then id check the firmware i flashed making sure its metadata checksum is what its supposed to be . or you could always stay put at marshmellow ....its not the worse possible outcome nor is it the best . up to you, it gets easier with practice . I had the note 3 too exact same procedure so it feels easy because ive done it alot. The first time is a sketchy nerve racking nightmare and i wouldnt blame ya if ya backed off the unlock.

yes, its going to unlock the bootloader and for doing that it has to write those files on the sd card.
