Hello,
I've been a registered user for a while now, but haven't tried to post until today. When I try to post a message containing a URL, I receive the following error:
"To prevent spam to the forums, new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed"

Can one of the moderators please verify my account?
Thanks!

As far as I know, you will need a # of post (more than 5 I think) before you are allow to insert a link in any thread. I'm not a mod, but I read about this somewhere in this site : If I'm wrong, maybe a mod can correct me with this one
Have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636765 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626993.
Yep, need something like 5 to 10 posts for links.
Hmm, ok, thanks. I just wanted to post a URL to my new project and gather some feedback, but I guess I'll have to lurk around longer and find some other stuff to comment on.
In the same boat as you.
But i guess its better than page on page with spam from bots
Yes, after a few posts the system and Moderators can see whether you are a genuine member or not.
In the meantime you can use links like this:
wwwdotxda-developers.com
You can always go back later and put in working links.

Had a look at your thread, posted comments, and the site; all seems in order.
As a courtesy, I have changed the links for you ... with an understanding that you will do your best to keep the thread active and help out members who post it in as best you can.
Cheers,
I cant write on nexus forum
I just wrote a "best contract deals" post for the HTC Desire, and discovered I can't post links yet ARG! So I have it saved in notepad until I've made a few more small comments like this to get enough posts to post links
Damn, I've got to wait 5 mins between posts too

As stated earlier, this process has been setup to combat spammers. I believe once you have more than 8-10 posts, this restriction is removed

What are the chances these rules can be adjusted so they aren't ridiculously frustrating? I can't post or edit my own posts without waiting 5 minutes, I can't post images or even quote images posted by other users. I've been viewing these boards everyday since I joined (about a week ago) and it's making the transition to participating VERY obnoxious

Sorry about the issues, we all had to go through it at one point. Since XDA is such a large and popular site we have been a big target for spam, so to make sure the boards arent full of ads and spam we have to make the rules a little strict. its only for 10 or so posts.

I believe you will now be out of the "initial" group, as you have 5 posts. Within the next 1 or 2 posts, it should be finished
I know that this is an old thread but I really want to post thanks to certain individuals or post in discussion forums but due to this restriction it means I'm having to spend a lot longer on the XDA site just to post what I wanted to. For instance even this post took me an extra 4 minutes...
Any Idea why??
myonlyst4r, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Please Read: New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums. The developer forums are intended for experienced users and developers to discuss ways to improve technical aspects related to ROMs and Software. While you may be an expert, we ask ALL users to avoid posting questions about using or installing ROMs and software in the Development Forums. To encourage this new Users can read but not post in these forums.
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
Remember, your question has very likely been asked already, so please search before posting.
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

A little reading goes a long way, especially in the dev section. You quoted the answer to your question in the OP

Spamming ten posts isn't a great idea. Try and post something meaningful and maybe try and help some others in the Q&A threads.
Rom development threads aren't really the place to post a thank you, that's why there is a thanks button. Also feature requests probably would be better suited in the Q&A thread for that rom. If it doesn't have one already maybe one can be started.
Same problem.
I am also having a problem posting on development related threads. I am having a problem and cannot let anyone know. I already have 11 posts, why am I still getting the same message that I cannot post? Any help?
I agree that the ten posts thing is ridiculous. I have been pulling my hair out trying to solve a problem, and I found a thread which discussed a possible solution to that problem, but was having some difficulty with it working, and wanted to post the specifics of my problem and how they related to the solution presented to see if it was reasonable to think the solution might work. Instead, I am treated to a condescending message telling me, in effect to take a hike (to put it politely). I don't have time to come up with ten meaningful contributions before I get help solving the problem I am having - heck, I wasn't even sure from the message where I was even supposed to post such messages, since it said I can't post to "development-related forums" - what else is there on a site called xda-developers, anyway? I only found this thread using google to search for this whole ten posts nonsense.
And then, some of the responses by certain moderators seemed down-right rude, for instance one post complaining about how they wanted to thank the author for a post and report some minor issues was countered by a moderator who apparently didn't even read that part and closed the thread, declaring that their post had proved the need for the rule, as the person obviously hadn't learned "how to search" which doesn't even make sense consider the original poster already implied they HAD since otherwise how would you thank someone for something they found helpful and contribute findings on it?
Anyway, the best I could do was to send a private message to the most recent poster who appeared to be knowledgeable about the topic and hope for a reply. They were not the original poster, nor were they one of several other people knowledgable who had previously posted; this is thus a sub-optimal solution. Furthermore, any replies directly to me won't be shared with the world, meaning it won't help anyone with the same problem as me.
And you expect me to contribute in the future after treating me this way?
Thread closed
The ten post rule is to fight spammers and people who don't search cluttering up development threads with support questions. It's not hard to get ten meaningful posts. I understand frustrations when you're trying to figure out a problem, you've done the best which is ask someone knowledgeable for help, but the rule is in place for a reason.
There was an incident in the Falcon Pro thread in the Paid Apps section regarding a member posting threatening, abusive messages and glorifying piracy. I and a few others reported it and apparently a mod reviewed them because the posts were deleted along with some others, including one of mine. The mod didn't bother to post in the thread and I got no PM explaining why my post was deleted. It used to be when you reported a thread you got a "Your report is being reviewed" PM and a "Your report was reviewed and closed" PM. Why was that stopped? And is it too much to expect a mod who does housecleaning in a thread to post in said thread or at least PM to explain why a post was deleted? I get why that member's posts were-he was spewing death threats and other nasty things, but mine wasn't in violation as far as I know. The only reason I realized it had been deleted was because I noticed my Thanks meter had gone up quite a bit but when I checked my Thanked Posts nothing new was there. Anyway, just curious. I know moderating is a thankless job-keep up the good work!
That message system is still there.. but not all of the mods use it.. and in your case.. as it was pretty offensive post you reported.. my guess is it had multiple reports.. so others report might have been the one which was first and they might have got a pm saying its been taken care of.. I have not got any pm sometimes when cleaning is done. And they remove posts usually which connects to that incident and has no connection to that thread (relevant to thread actual topic) . So may be yours had only text about that incident..
And anyway, all the above talk is just speculation.. and one other thing is.. it totally depends on individual mod who handled your said posts report.. as I get only first message saying "thank you.. it is being taken care of" message..
And some mods use both.. the first one and the "thread cleaned/closed" or any action taken.. so, I guess it just depends on individual mods.. and I personally don't mind getting/not getting pm one way or the other..

I've been a member over a year. I'm a real person. I know very little about phones but I am a computer programmer so I catch on fast. I would like to be able to post a question in the AFWall+ thread but my account seems to be banned from doing that. Specifically:
You may not post new threads
You may not post replies
You may not post attachments
You may edit your posts
What is the problem here? Do you really expect me to make 10 posts about something I know very little about, and how would I make them?
What's weird is I think last year or the year before I was able to post, I'm not sure what's happened since then.

Hi,
Apologies for the difficulty you are having. I have looked at the thread you are trying to post in and it should be set up to allow members with less than 10 posts to post there. We have set up DevDB threads to allow that if the developer decides or to automatically create a Q&A thread for that particular work. So there is something wrong with that thread and we will look into it. In the meantime you can create a thread in Q&A with your specific question and I am sure someone will answer. Please keep in mind that this is a development site and these measures are in place to protect the developers...it protects them from spam, it protects their thread from being cluttered with new members asking "Do I need root to flash this?" And following it up with "How do I root"...and many posts like that. This is also why almost all devices have a separate Q&A section...to keep the development sections clear of questions and try to focus on changelogs, updated features and bug reports with proper logcats. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Hallo, one question, why peoples without posts or with less posts than allowed for posting into dev thread can give thread stars and harm reputation of the dev thread? Can you please check that and disalow that!

We no longer have restrictions for posting inside a development thread. Anyone can post in a development thread, regardless of their post count.
If you think people are deliberately giving your thread low star ratings, let us know.
But to be honest, those thread star ratings don't really mean much. No one pays much attention to them. It's the quality of the work in the thread that matters, not how may stars the thread has.

Yes I think! I have post copy of the pm conversation here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72856799&postcount=292 , if you somehow can revert that moderator edited post you can notice that peoples giving low star because of no ability to post in dev thread. There was some bad words between that person and me, but thats not much important than key of the problem!
