I am on stock rom, rooted.
Sometimes, AFTER unlocking screen the music (google music) will start playing, have no idea what triggers it. Initially I had music gestures (on lock screen) enabled but disabled it since. Still happens.
Any idea how to fix this? thanks

Hey Cartman,
You may have music playback configured on button presses like pressing power button twice, pressing volume button twice etc.. Can you check in the Customizations and Buttons menu in settings if you have any such gesture settings present?
I have enabled none but I too, sometimes see the music player in the status bar. Annoying.

Thanks for your answer Karachi,
The behavior of the capacitive buttons is unchanged, didn't assign any other functionalities in there. The only thing I changed is swap the buttons (back/recent apps), more a la samsung. I have lockscreen gestures but removed the music gesture. There is no music-related anything under Customizations > Status bar; nothing peculiar under Buttons either.
One other thing, when the music starts, the google music app starts by itself and also playback starts. The app will start in the foreground even. That's strange. If I were to press by mistake the google music icon (which by the way, I have removed from the Nova launcher desktop since), the music won't just start rightaway, I would also have to press the play button.

Weird, really.
Are you using fingerprint to unlock? Swipe? Pattern? Have you tried changing that?..
I must warn you, if you are using fingerprint to unlock and you change the screen lock type, you will lose your fingerprint data. This is stupid!

Indeed, using the fingerprint only. I doubt it's the fp though, or I'd try something else instead first.
Thanks, I didn't know there was a 2 finger swipe to start music
I had the same issue but skipped that option

Is there an app that will put music controls on the lockscreen all of the time?
- poweramp, winamp and maybe other music players do this, but I just want to use stock
- if I'm playing music, the stock player does this, but it doesn't add controls if the player is stopped or paused
- simply lockscreen claims to do this, but it doesn't work on my phone
- some custom roms do this, but I want to stick to stock for a while
- maybe it will be a feature of JB, we'll see in a few hours

The app have to incorporated the ICS way to do it, which I've found that many don't.
You could use Widgetsoid as a worlaround, it's possible to get media buttons on your notification bar with it(which can be pulled down on lock screen when slide to unlock is the active security).

I use widgetsoid and tried creating a widget with previous, play/pause, next. I clicked Notification in the widget configuration advanced settings (the settings for individual widgets), and various settings of Notification from the Welcome to Widgetsoid screen. This puts a notification bar on my home screen while music is playing, but does not put a notification bar on home screen or lock screen when music is not playing.
Is there another setting I need to activate the notification bar on the lock screen at all times?
Regular slide to unlock is my active security.

You can pull down the Notification bar when in the lockscreen, you don't have to unlock the lockscreen to access it.
My problem was that the notification bar on the lock screen was invisible, so I didn't realize it was there. If I swipe down on the blank space, the controls are there.
Now all is well

hey. i always needed an app or mod thats allow us change the track from volume change pop up. eg, when im playing game and wanted to change the current music track, i should go home or recent apps, change the track then go back to game.
so im asking is there any mod or app, that can let us to change the track through the volume change dialog without leaving the game. something like another row under the volume slider that has buttons next/pause/previous etc.
i know paranoidandroid does it with halo, im asking another solution.. thanks.
Some ROMs have the ability to do this, when you press the volume button the normal slider pops up for whatever is relevant (ringer, media, or alarm). But there is a settings button that expands it.

The app music player (remix) has a mini player that pops up when you swipe the bottom of the screen upwards.

thanks, that was exactly what im looking for. :good:
This is probably a really dumb question. I seem to have accidentally enabled a setting which makes the status bar and navigation buttons and the top and button hidden unless I drag them in from the top or bottom. I want them to always be shown, which is how it has been since I got the phone.
It was fine until earlier today when I was doing something else (tapping pretty fast) and I think I double tapped home, which brings up settings and I changes some setting. I thought it would be easy to find what setting I accidentally changed but I can't seem to find it.
I'm not even sure if its a setting in the rom, launcher, or something else.
I'm using viperone rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/rom-viperonem9-1-0-0-tweaks-hub-t3072773
and nova launcher

I don't see that option anywhere under 'change navigation buttons' (it was the first place I looked). Here's a screenshot. Is this the place I should expect to find it?

Note the annoying empty space at the bottom where the nav buttons would be, expect they are pointlessly hidden.
Maybe you activated the fullscreen mode? Press and hold the power button and disable it. If you changed the power menu items in venom tweaks you need to check immersive mode under tweaks>misc>power menu items to make that option visable, again.

That fullscreen mode setting in the power menu was the problem, thanks. I never though too look at the power menu settings. Apparently there's nothing in any other settings menu about this mode, or at least I didn't see it.

For future reference you can also hide the status bar and the navbar in venom tweaks. There are a ton of changes you can make in that app so be careful so you can undo anything you do not like.
^^this worked^^
I'm new to Nova Launcher, and to be honest 3rd party launchers in general. And the only question I have so far while using Nova is that once I'm in my app drawer hitting my home button closes the app drawer and zooms me out to see all screens I have with the option of wallpaper, widget or app to add to a screen. Rather than just taking me to my homepage like the home button does from any other screen.
Is this normal? is there a way to have hitting home from the app drawer just take me to my homepage?
You can turn that off in Nova settings. Its in gesture and inputs

Thanks all, that did it. :good:
Actually, in doing that I lose the option to double tap the home button to bring up those options such as apps, widgets and wallpaper. Looking under gestures though the toggle is on that says "return to default page on first tap, action on second" but there is no thing from the second.
The only time it seems to work as the settings suggest is if you have more than 1 screen. Once I created a blank screen to the right of my default page then it worked as it should. With just one it doesn't.

This is how I have it set. Edit: it works better if you set home button to go to default page
Well my initial problem was fixed by setting the home button to the default screen. However if you have only 1 screen you then lose the ability to add screens and widgets, even if the toggle is 'on' that says double tapping the home button will still give you that option. But once you add a second blank screen that toggle switch enabling the action of double tapping the home button then works. So it has to be a bug, I just don't know if their aware of it or not because I suspect most people use more than 1 screen and have never noticed it doesn't work with 1.
In the stock roms, the only way to lock the screen is with the power button. What I want to achieve is to lock screen screen like maybe double tap home button to sleep.
There are 3rd party launcher or app that could do this, however intelligent unlock is disabled and must use pin/pattern ect. There used to be a way to bypass device admin/security policy or something.
But anyway, how can I do this while using the stock roms? This is something the power of root can solve right?
EDIT: it's okay guys, found out RiCE roms allows this bypass somehow and it's close to stock, so gonna use this rom for now. I use 3rd party screen off app and set as assistance app, therefore hold home buttom for lock, kinda buggy but works I guess.
Nova Launcher can lock the screen with a double tap or whatever you choose
No way to bypass lock screen security that I know of (security risk) but you could just turn it off, it's about as safe lol
