I like the basic stock themes, but I'd like it to have the newer navigation bar. I'm talking about these two:
Either the former version: http://cdn.makeuseof.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/muo-android-layersnougat-azure.png
Or the newer Pixel version: http://www.droid-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/google-pixel-pixel-xl-black.jpg
How would I go about changing the theme to contain this navbar? Or can anyone make some of the Magazine theme to contain one of these navbars?
Those files are in the framework res somewhere... Just go find a theme that has these buttons changed and look up the exact directory.

Hi I'm on a 2.1 Sense rom and I was just wondering how do I change the notif bar's battery and background?
I tried just changing the icons in the framework-res apk in the drawable-mdpi folder
then I just saved it and pushed it and replaced the original framework but that just put me on an endless repeat of booting so I came back to 2.1 sense so .. How do I change it ?
I'm trying to change it like A motoblur theme
If I can't do it no Sense UI please tell me how to get it working on either GB or froyo?
I'm on the new radio btw
cm6.1 well you can go into cyanogen setting under ui than extras there is some different ones to pick you can use a theme you can flash a custom one its all on you or your rom
i suggest a theme poke around the forums for one
you can find a metamorph theme for your phone. and you just apply the notification bar with metamorph app
So, I forgot to backup my system & framework apk's before I uploaded them into the kitchen and made a new theme. *I know, shame on me*.
Is there a default/stock for those or are they created based of individual phone information?
What i'm asking is, do I need to re-install the rom to get those back or can I just pull them from above said stock apk's?
Android: 2.3.5
Rom:Cm7(08012011)
Any help would be greatly apprecaited!!!
Thanks-

i'm confused. are you saying you dont like your theme and want to go back to stock or you want you want to update to the next nightly but dont want to do the kitchen every time?
I'm not reaaal familiar with the kitchen stuff, I know more than enough to get myself in trouble (changing radio's, roms, etc) but haven't completely grasped the themes yet.
It SEEMS like a couple of things are not changing even if I create a completely new theme (The battery icon, the lockscreen buttons and something else I forget)
My thinking is, there's a generic theme(s) for the rom and when you create a get a new one, it updates certain aspects of it.
If I create a new theme in kitchen and only change the battery, wouldn't all of the other settings revert to the "default" theme?
On a completely different note-
What's the difference between ADW themes and Themechoose themes?

Ah. ok. so what ever you change in the kitchen it will change in the apk. it wont touch the rest of the apk. its kinda like an online apktool. it unpackages it changes the png's you want and then packages it up again using the resources from the apk you submitted. ADW themes are for the ADW launcher so it only themes the home screens. but Themechooser themes the whole phone, or as much as the developer of themechooser allowed it to do.
Great! Thanks
I seriously loathe the uber-colorful icons that TouchWiz has for things like the Camera, Gallery, Dialer, etc.
What do I need to do to change them to stock JellyBean icons? Root? Theme? Alternative launcher?
Thanx in advance.
It's super easy to change icons using Nova, & you don't need root. I don't have experience with other launchers, or methods.
ROM - Odexed Blue JB "Holy Grail" LJ7
Baseband - LJ7
Kernel - KT747 TW JB LJ7
Sent from my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 using XDA-Premium
Idk if it's the same on the s3 but it is easier if rooted I believe. Drag your rom that your theming onto your computer, find system ui. Apk and extract just that, then open it with 7zip or something like that and then it's in one of the folders inside of the res folder. I think that's where the icons are stored. As long as you don't change the names, you'll be fine. Just replace them and restart your phone. Or re flash using the modified rom
Download a launcher of your choice. My first choice for pimping the UI is sslauncher. Then find an icon pack you want to use. For simple icons that you can choose the colour of I recommend MetroStation.
Icons are normally change in most launchers by first placing them on you home screen and then long pressing them and choosing edit.
Good luck
Check out "mycolorscreen" for inspiration.
Thanx to all 3 of you.
Do any of the methods above help with the notification icons also? I find it really odd that the text messaging notification icon is an envelope... you know, like email.
I just recently switched my stock rom to be deodexed and I'm now looking at the possibility of theming and mods for my rom.
I already have a little experience modding the signal icons on a different Android device, and I've already downloaded a mod from this forum that turns part of the stock dialer to a holo dark/material theme, but I want to do more with it.
So far I can't seem to find a good tutorial on how to properly mod system files, especially knowing that the stock rom on the Moto G is a Motorola variant of Android KitKat, and not AOSP or similar, although it's close enough that I figure some mods might work since many Xposed modules for AOSP work fine on my stock rom.
Would it be safe to look for a tutorial based on AOSP 4.4.4, or does anyone know a good place to learn the proper way to modify and theme a Motorola stock rom?

get apktool
with this decompile your apks you want to theme/mod
hapy theming! (there plenty of tutorials of how to edit images or the .9 patch files. with gimp etc.. just search )
after that recompile, if you just have edited some images (ressources) pull them afterwards from the new COMPILED apk out in a folder.
take the original apk & open with 7zip & pull the edited stuff into the right directions.
if you have done some advanced modification such as in values folder, you need after the new apk is compiled, open it with 7zip & pull from the original app the meta-inf folder into the new compiled one (singing) after tthat replace it on that phone

WARNING! Please read the below HOW-TO before applying!
Due to the size of the MIUI v5 dark custom theme (and limit on XDA for attachements) you need to download two ZIP files - extract them BOTH into the same directory (you will end up with two new files with extensions 001 and 002). Use 7-zip packer ( www.7-zip.org ) to extract the archive starting with 001. Finally you will get directory with HWT file.
If you want to have the new theme without the new font (or to keep the font you have set so far):
1. Download theme.
2. Extract theme (hint above).
3. Copy to the HWThemes folder on your mobile.
4. Apply theme.
If you want to have the theme with the new font (new font is the one you can see on the screenshots) please do the following: (WARNING! THIS WILL OVERWRITE THE SYSTEM FONT IN EMUI4.0!):
1. Download MIUIDark_CUSTOM_FONT.zip
2. Extract zip file.
3. Copy extracted theme file into HWThemes folder on your mobile.
4. Apply MIUIDark Custom FONT theme.
5. Do the same steps as above for the theme and apply the theme.
If you want to restore the default EMUI 4.0:
1. Download RestoreDEFAULT_Emui40FONT.zip
2. Extract zip file.
3. Copy extracted theme file into HWThemes folder on your mobile.
4. Apply RestoreDEFAULT Emui40FONT theme.
(you may need to reapply my theme if you want to have it again)
Download links for the theme:
See attachments section of this thread.
Download link for the new font - MIUIDark CUSTOM FONT (Droid Sans):
MIUIDark_CUSTOM_FONT.zip (6.10 MB) http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3807078&stc=1&d=1467994251
Download with the default font which can be restored:
RestoreDEFAULT_Emui40FONT.zip (4.96 MB) http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3807079&stc=1&d=1467994251
P.S. If you like this theme - rate the thread with 5 stars
P.S.2. I have sold my P8 Lite. Project is now abandoned and no future updates should be expected.
dude, I like the dark theme... but can I make a request?
can you re-make the theme, so it would also change the system settings background?
plain white with black text just isn't my thing...
I know that some themes can change that (full UI theming), I had a theme like that some time ago, but I can't find it anymore...
so that's why I'm asking you
thanks in advance

I also would like to change the settings part at some point, so the update is possible.
Since there is no reasonable documentation available on the Huawei themes and the xml files are partialy in Chinesse (which I totally don't understand) it however may take a while. Unless I find any other theme with fully themed settings so I can review the XML file and assets used just to update the assets and XML files with the dark MIUI theme. In other words - depending on my free time I'll try to update it, however having ANY theme (compatible with EMUI 4.0) with that part themed would make this way quicker

maybe I can find a full theme for you to re-make, so you'd only have to do a copy - paste?

It's not as easy as to just "copy/paste" stuff Assets need to be properly scaled, therefore in some cases the 9patch needs to be applied - and since I do not have any HWT previewer on PC I need to compile the HWT file - send it to mobile, apply theme, check how does it look like, get back to PC... etc... the same with updating XML file - since the naming used by Huawei is somewhat weird I keep updating one parameter at a time and check the results.
Anyway - having something built anyhow would help a lot as the amount of "change-compile_package-apply_on_phone" would be minimised
Example 1 (bit of XML config for Contacts):
<!-- 新建联系人actionbar标题字体颜色-->
<color name="contact_eidtor_title_color">#ffffffff</color>
<!-- section title 字体颜色 -->
-- Yes, the parameter name is "eidtor" not "editor"
Example 2 (asset image files):
Asset file name: res\drawable-xxhdpi\daier_call_btn_normal.9.png
-- Yes... the filename says "daier" not "dialer"
Anyway... guessing the correct file naming or parameter naming especialy for something missing in the configuration XML or in the asset image directories is sometimes tricky as you can see and may be a bit of challenge (that is why having a sample is a good help - because I can then copy and paste and know that the parameter name is "contact_eidtor_title_color" and not to experiment and wonder why the "editor" does not work
New update.
Hi! I really like your dark theme and i got a little request: can you please make a dark text when typing a SMS? Right now it's a light-gray color on white background and as result it's really hard to see something. Thanks!

I've changed the compose box to dark. First I've tried to change the color text but the color tag seems to be shared with another part of the UI...
No wonder there are lots of weird themes in the net... the Huawei tags do not make any sense...
Updated version 11 attached.

Version without the font attached.
Small update to MIUI Custom (both with font and without font).
Changes include icons in settings tab, backgrounds for various UI elements, few additional icon/asset fixes.
Great work mate.. Thanks

Attached you'll find two screenshot explaining why it ain't as easy to create a Huawei theme... and to be more precise - the dark theme with white text.
Yes... I have changed everywhere text color to white ( FFFFFF ) and here is the result...
Sometimes there is just missing tag in XML - once I add it (I need to guess the name) and set it to FFFFFF it MAY change the color to white as well. Unfortunately 1) It may also change some other UI element 2) The tag may have "by design" mispelled name like "eidtor" instead of "editor" or "daier" instead of "dialer" ... this is also something I need to either guess or get from another theme by analysing its XML files...
So... if anyone of you guys - have the documentation made by Huawei (or anybody else) about theming EMUI 4.0 - please let me know Trying to guess everything is time consuming and sometimes also impossible (I cannot guess what type of mistake they did in the tag name or asset file name
Anyway - enjoy the themes if you like them
