What do you intend to fill the gap with? Also the camera and flashes etc are set into. It? Slap a skin on it.

There you go.

Custom back glass/plastic inserts would look pretty awesome with a nude pixel or clear case I'm not gonna be shifting from Original tho!

But then these pics, I want to do it myself now, I'd quite like a red replacement, wonder if there are any chinese manufacturer's making any replacements anywhere.

Anyone know where to get replacement OEM or aftermarket back glass from?
I checked Amazon & eBay for search string "google pixel replacement back glass" and didn't find anything at all.
My back glass shattered and pieces are missing.

Unless you have a donor device, back housing replacement seems to be the only way.

Seems like now there's quite a few sellers carrying entire back covers for around $30. Example.

My White OG Pro Swap

Well, for the most part....
I just completed the white digitizer/glass swap. The flex cable and pinout is identical, and it works just as it should. It was pretty straightforward, and one of the easier glass replacements I've done. For future reference, the Glass is NOT bonded to the LCD... making the swap quite easy. I intended on doing a complete white housing swap, but after closely reviewing the photos I found the white F240 housing has a different pinout for the battery cover charging points. I may still order one and see if I am able to modify.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Enjoy.

So does this mean it's easy to fix a broken screen? I wonder how much the digitizer glass combo sells for?

Very easy if you're fairly adept at phone repair. They are $33 with shipping on eBay, which is where I purchased mine.

Did you just swap out the front faceplate? Like, you had a black faceplate, and you just swapped it out for a white one?

One thing worthy of noting... the glass/digitizer did NOT come with double sided adhesive when I ordered it. You'll need it because most of the old adhesive will pull off the the glass that you're replacing.

I actually have a roll of the 3M double sided adhesives that I ordered months back. It comes in handy when you're frequently repairing phones.
zounduser: I appreciate it. As I said before, my intention was to do the full white housing swap. However, they don't currently sell one for the E980. Only for the F240 from the research I have done. Aside from the battery cover pinout, the housings look identical. I will go ahead and order one to see if I am able to modify it to fit.
I will report back with the results.
Alright. I'll order it, and we'll see how it goes! I've repaired a couple of iPhone digitizers and screens along with a couple of Android tablets, but I have yet to modify an android phone. Can you PM me the link to where you bought the faceplate and such?

I just replaced my digitizer and it went fairly smooth, but after a week I'm getting dust intrusion between the glass and LCD. I was very careful to cut the adhesive to fit, but obviously not good enough. Therefore, does anyone know if "template/pre-cut" screen adhesive is available? I've looked on the internet and also called LG, but no luck.
My current plan is to eventually purchase an LCD/Digitizer combo and sell the old LCD and Digitizer, with the dust in it, to a repair shop or whoever needs it. But I'd much rather just get the adhesive if it's available.
Thanks for any help out there.

Is this $33 part a new/used take-off from a phone, new OEM stock, or an aftermarket part?
As to the F240 back, wouldn't there be a cutout for the TV antenna, or is the antenna cutout solely through the phones perimeter frame?

This was a new oem part. As for the F240 housing, that's a very good point. I am not able to find any pictures of the housing that is offered to see if that is the case.
OLLIESSHOP: At this time I do not believe anyone offers the precut adhesive. It seems quite a bit of trouble to sell your lcd/digi combo just to resolve that problem. You could always disassemble, clean lcd and back side of digitizer, reapply adhesive strips making certain there is a solid line all the way across below the speaker. I have no doubt the dust is entering through the speaker hole.

Thank you !!! I believe you're right, since the dust is in the top 1/4 of the screen. I relooked at the pictures I took and it clearly shows I ownly put adhesive in the upper corners, not all the way across ... http://www.feelc.org/LGOptimusGProDigitizerReplacement.pps (2nd page from the end). The thing you linked is completely different, it's a case which houses an extra battery to charge the phone. What the OP linked is just a replacement for the rear cover/backplate of the device.

waiting for white? Im thinking of the black one. I love the N5, but cant stand the smooth, no-grip hard plastic white. I didnt know it didnt grip like the black when I ordered. Hell, meet you for a beer and well swap!
Anyone have any experience with this product? Id really hate to get it and find out its some cheap knock off or somehow not compatible or causes some sort of damage to the phone.

Are the sides of the black model different than the white? My white sides aren't matte at all. I thought the differences were only the back texture and earpiece color (I like the white earpiece but not the slick back).

The black one is fully mat. Unlike the white one. The white one has a white earpiece AND the sides around the phone are glossy.
BTW here is a vid about a guy who's detaching the backcover (it's for another purpose but you'll get it)

Could this case harm my phone?

I just ordered this case a few minutes ago
http://www.amazon.de/gp/aw/d/B00G1G...qid=1392286988&sr=8-18&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
and now I saw that it uses a magnet to turn on/off the screen. I remember reading about magnets harming phones (compass, screen, etc.), so I wonder if I should cancel my order or if this case will be safe to use?
Don't panic. Magnets used in those kind of cases are safe for your phone.
Yeah you shouldn't worry. Even one of the official cases from Google/LG has the same feature.

Thx everybody! Happily awaiting the arrival of my case (and my screen protectors) then. The on/off feature may even be a really nice thing, saves the power button some work.
@Galaxysm: No idea, but amazon.de ships almost everywhere and the price is really good atm. It fluctuates a lot on this case, I saw it for 16.99 two weeks ago, then 20.99 last week and today 9.99,
